'Other Dimensions Lp', Terrence Dixon's latest work and the new adventure in 30D's ExoPlanets sublabel, comes for the very first time released in full length format, split in two sides, showing Terrence's two faces. As everyone knows, words can not describe the music of this Detroit visionary, but we'll try. Futuristic, avant-garde-esque, mesmerizing, trippy and minimalistic / reduced techno funk as expected in A side, but highly emotional and evocative, as only he can do. On the flip side, Terrence redefines and takes to another level the concept of dark, experimental, abstract, atmospheric, alienated and dystopian music, a true musical trip (perhaps a nightmare???) to dive into. An extremely personal and intimate album.

Seven years after the classic ‘Theater of a Confused Mind’ (as Population One), Detroit techno phenomenon Terrence Dixon is back on Rush Hour with a new album, this time under his own name.
It would be a massive understatement to say we’re proud of this one. After all our whole operation was named after one of Dixon’s early tracks (‘Rush Hour’ originally appeared on a double EP called ‘Hippnotic Culture’ on fellow Detroit legend Claude Young’s Utensil Records in 1995) and ‘Reporting from Detroit’ again finds the maestro in outstanding form.
‘Reporting from Detroit’ is another prime example of the distinctly unique sound language Dixon has developed over the last three decades - defiant, forward-thinking afrofuturist techno that could only have been made in the Motor City.
But this is not just mere Detroit techno - it’s a sound language that’s unique to Dixon. An instantly recognizable high-octane sonic language fueled by frantic funk that’s constantly pushing the boundaries of machine music without ever losing the connection to the magic of the Detroit streets at night. Tresor Records proudly announces From The Far Future Pt. 3, a new album from Terrence Dixon.
Continuing the story of his previous two iterations on this title, spanning 3 vinyl discs, it is a serene undertaking of unrivalled Motor City rhythms and sound. It finds the Detroit producer oscillating, from excursions in paradises of synth pointillism to husky storytelling and Dixon's peculiar beat work.
A master in letting shapes find their form, Dixon allows the listener to wallow in recurring scenes. Lost Communication Procedure, Found In Space and Remarkable Wanderer etch a sound world of choral vibrations and cinematic dirge. Where gaseous clouds scrape the natural sonic pastures of such environments, the hypnotized listener staggers a drunken step, moving sideways by 0 or 1 or -1 into new scenes. Not least an expert in industrial abstraction, a human silhouette permeates Dixon's sound. His ethereal storytelling portrays the heart-rending romance of Unconditional Love and unearths in I'm Away In Detroit monologuing moodscapes recalling our GPS voice assistants.
Out of Darkness initial recalls Kraftwerk's Geiger counter, as from pure signal data and feedback spells an unceasing locomotive wormhole. Hazy, dense grooves drive across bleak city scenes in We Can Rebuild Him, into the raw vibe of Framework and the rude stabs of Spectrum of Light. The varying presence of Dixon's work is one of his textural signatures, at arm's length, brushing right within, and far out. The bumping mood of Earth Station is one such moment, close enough to isolate the diving bass somewhere within, simultaneously from afar it becomes positively gravitational.
The first two records of the series are rightfully considered among the finest embodiments of contemporary minimalism, symbolic documents of afro-futurism. This new work revives the classic series, continuing the relationship between Tresor and the undisputed master of Detroit techno into the present day.

Re:Vision series restarts with Steve Poindexter’s timeless classic “Computer Madness”. We are very honored and excited to be able to re-release this beast of a track! It’s hard to imagine that this was really created over 2 decades ago. So the task at hand was to find the right contemporaries to revise this masterpiece, we didn’t have to look far to find the man for the job: Function is an old friend here at THEMA, and things got even better when he brought in Jerome Sydenham to co-produce the second treatment. It’s thus with great pride we announce our Re:Vision of Computer Madness, featuring two resolutely modern reinterpretations of Poindexter’s classic. The original by Poindexter dates all the way from 1989 and is a brief, headlong rush into drum machine-fueled raw acid and has long been a staple of the genre for many as well as the first release on the seminal Musique Records. We wanted to start off with a stomper, so for the whole A side, we have Function with occasional co-conspirator Sydenham with an unstoppable driving interpretation that straightens the busy drums of the original into a pounding techno pulse and takes repeated, changing portions of the original acid line as its central riff. Much of the action here occurs in the dirty, growling bass the pair add to the lower register; this is peak time damage for the most unrelenting floors. On the flip side we start off with Function’s deep, dubbed out reinterpretation, but it soon strides forward into the style of psychedelic but jacking techno familiar from his recent, more extroverted output. Even at almost double the length of the original, there’s still a palpable aura of reverence to the way he approaches the track; it should come as no surprise that he ranks it highly in his favorites list. Then of course we finish off with Poindexter’s original 1989 version, with all its original bang and glory. Still sounds fresh and as inspiring as it did the first time we heard this way back when...Functioning as a reunion for friends as well as a re-evaluation of past and present achievements, Re:Vision looks back to the rich past while still moving unstoppably into the future. Look out for the next 2 releases in the Re:Vision series that’s following up next! It’s been awhile since we at THEMA visited our Re:Vision series, where we pay homage to those that have influenced us and bring historical accomplishments into contemporary focus. It started with DJ Slip’s classic “Available Light” (THEMA017) featuring two incredibly well sought after remixes of the celebrated original by Franco Cinelli and Mikael Stavöstrand. Now revisiting the series with renewed dedication, we’ve carefully selected three classic underground tracks that reverberate in past and present for re-evaluation by a cadre of contemporary techno’s finest talent.

*Twelve years ago Tresor Records released Terrence Dixon's debut album 'From The Far Future' - a personal homage to the art and ancestry of techno, culminating in a discursive and dream-like course through the genre's many tomes, complete with subtle nods to key protagonists such as Kraftwerk, Derrick May and Juan Atkins. A luminescent and ethereal catalogue of tracks awash with shimmery synths and taught rhythmical programming - that still holds true today, 'From The Far Future' made for a stunning first full length that cemented Dixon's already proven credentials from his Population One work and Utensil Records foundations. *After a string of stylistically rich releases - including another album, 'Train Of Thought', this time for Cologne-based label Yore Records - the Detroit native returns to Tresor Records with 'From The Far Future Pt.2' - an ambitious, scopey and deeply personal sequel." 'From The Far Future' was special in many ways. It's over 12 years later and seems like yesterday to me, it really does," says Dixon. " 'From The Far Future Pt.2' is my real life drama playing out before your ears, it has everything on this album that has something to do with where I live. I wanted to make this album as huge as it could be. This is a statement album. A variety of tracks from a minimal point of view." *Taking the form of a fourteen-track CD and double vinyl LP, with just three overlaying tracks - the bubbly "Fountain of Life", uplifting "Horizon" and stung out "The Study", as well as two different versions on the atmospheric builder "Dark City of Hope" - 'From The Far Future Pt.2' is a masterful and extensive techno album that alludes to - without relying on - Dixon's Detroit heritage and affinities. Tracks like the CD's three dystopic numbers: "Path to Mystery", "The Auto Factory" and "Lead by Example", for example, deploy recognisable tropes of techno past, spun into a unique and inherently modern Dixon vernacular.
*Elsewhere, warm syncopated house ("Self Centered"), wonky jazz ("The Switch"), grainy dub textures ("My Journey Here") and smoky ambience ("Vision Blurry") complete this rewardingly heterogeneous CD. Complementing the headiness of the CD, the eight-track vinyl version of 'From The Far Future Pt.2' has been curated squarely with the dance floor in mind, allowing Dixon's shrewd beat-smithery to come to the fore. *From the tough and punchy rhythms of "Light of Day" and "Band Together" to the discordant canters of jangly anthem "Sleight of Mind" and dubby "11th Floor", there's something here for any fan of freewheeling and well-versed techno.

Juan Atkins' Infiniti project combines raw tactility and puristic elegance with Skynet, where slinking grooves mask chaotic frequencies and roughly-hewn structure. Alongside fellow Detroit legend Terrence Dixon who appears on several tracks, Atkins exposes the life and emotion in machines, outputting a biomorphic atmosphere of industrial soul. The ongoing importance of this album is indisputable, essential both to techno and to Tresor. More

If there's one thing Jonas Kopp has proven over the last decade is that he can turn his hand to just about anything. Since debuting on P?rter's revered MindTrip Music back in 2006, the Buenos Aires native has managed to rack up a rich and compelling discography, coursing with ease through electronic music's various forms. From warm Chicago house through to deep, dark and driving techno on labels like Deeply Rooted House, Stroboscopic Artefacts and more, Kopp's hypnotic and heady sentiment has remained the red thread throughout, which has allowed him to ?ourish as one of techno's more liberal dance ?oor purveyors. More recently, for Illian Tape he strayed out of the ring entirely to deliver two billowing, orchestral-sized ambient works; proof that there's still plenty more to come from someone already so well-versed and dexterous in his craft. Red Plented EP weaves Kopp's discursive repertoire into a single and concise narrative, covering both familiar ground and exploring new and spellbinding territories, along with just a hint of cosmic neo-retroism that makes this a welcomed edition to the Tresor catalogue. Despite having just a single release on the label so far, "X" featuring on DJ Hell's 2013 Kern Vol.2 compilation, Kopp has been a ?rm ?xture at the club since 2011. Jonas Kopp is the next in line of contemporary luminaries that Tresor proudly welcomes to the fold.

Marcelus returns to Tresor Records with 'Shine', the third EP on the Berlin powerhouse. Following the shiny and warm 'Emerald' EP released a year ago, Marcelus presents here a diverse EP reviewing the many facets of the extra-talented Parisian producer. While the A-side is adamantly tough and aimed to be used and abused in the vault during the most feverish and damp hours, Marcelus offers two delicate and very personal numbers on the B-side. A complex and rich 12" to be discovered in very different listening atmospheres.

Fifteen years have passed since the release of the first and only 'Demo Tracks' compilation to date on Tresor Records. For this new commencement, we are proud to present three exceptional upcoming producers, selected amongst the various different paperboard envellopes and electronic communications received daily, here in the vault. Acronym has been slowly and mysteriously instructing his sound over the last three years through his own Dimensional Exploration imprint out of Stockholm. With 'Nabu' he presents a dimension of his work so far only known to those who had the chance to hear him perform live. Hailing from the northern Spanish surroundings of Bilbao, J.C. is a young producer whose work has surfaced on labels like Deeply Rooted or Greener. He also runs an eponymous record series and offers here a shaking number 'CheNox', keeping his ears riveted on the Berlin sound. Last but far from least, Zadig is a producer who has been regularly catching our attention.
Growing figure of the French and Parisian scene, his polished sound possesses many different facets. With 'Panic', Zadig looks back to some of the crudest moments of the Tresor catalog.

Not much more than a year has passed since the Zenker Brothers presented their debut EP – ‘Lion in Mars’ – on Tresor Records. The follow-up record segues perfectly between a triumphant year in the studio and in performance, and a 2014 which promises to take their growing reputation for blazing techno to new heights. ‘Stratus Phunk’ is an incendiary record, developing the ideas seeded in their first release to their fullest extent. The title track runs along the entire A-side. Building the raw acoustic sounds of wind. instruments into a rolling jam which soon becomes an unstoppable locomotive, shape -shifting in and out of smoky synth lines, tracky hi-hats and acetic basslines, « Stratus Phunk » is a vintage tune forged in the Tresor basement furnace. On the flip, « Thirty-Two » and « Vamp Like » explore the more splintered dimensions of the Münich based brothers’ work, familiar to whoever follows the releases on their own Ilian Tape label.

*Hot on the heels of DJ Deep's inaugural Kern mix for Tresor comes 'Kern Vol.2', selected and mixed by Gigolos boss DJ Hell. Hell has a track record of releasing benchmark mixes, most notably the wildly eclectic mix for Belgian club FUSE in 2000, and 1995's 'X-Mix 5: Wildstyle', whose concept he feels is 'not far away from Kern Vol.2'. *For 'Kern Vol.2', the Munich / Berlin machine dug deep into his vast collection to unite early House and Techno with the new wave. To start the process, he searched in the most obvious place: his basement. *The second 12" - The Rarities - is a precious collection of forgotten early '90s grooves. On the A-side, none other than Mr. Daniel Bell contributes to this special Kern Vol.2 with a track that has never seen the light of day since its year of production, 1992 - the "Chicago Style" version of his legendary 'Blip' title. A collector's piece.
*The B-side starts with NYC '90s ?xtures Lenny Dee and Ralphie Dee's (aka Major Problems) Overdose, a 1990 relentless number originally released on Nu Groove. Back to '92 with Sub-Culture's 'Dreams' released on Hayden Brown's own imprint Strobe. All mixes on the original and rare 12" are simply excellent, and DJ Hell chooses here the forgotten Tribal Life Mix.

"I was ?nding records I didn't know that I still owned," he explains, adding that there are "so many stories behind each track. It's not just the music - after 20 years there are so many memories that come back". *The ?rst 12" - The Exclusives - comes packed with previously unreleased tracks, specially crafted for Kern Vol.2 and carefully selected and re-edited by DJ Hell. *Argentinean producer extraordinaire Jonas Kopp offers his own interpretation of the Hell sounds with 'X', an incendiary and wreckless number of instant gritty appeal. On the ?ip, two reworks operated by Hell specially for the occasion. The infamous Flashback '86 by Capracara receives a raw treatment, for full dance?oor effect. The 1993 classic by Halogen (aka Zach Roberts), Bliss gets extended and reconstructed with complete new drums. *Hell feels that 'Kern Vol.2' is a product of crate digging and vinyl culture, but rather than keeping it to himself, he wants to share it with as many people as possible: "This music is very powerful & timeless and had a huge in?uence on me. I have been Djing since the late 1970s and playing house since 1985 - this is my life." *As autobiographies go, 'Kern Vol.2' makes for a compelling opening chapter. *TRACKLISTING: A. Marcelus, - Unseen Force
After last year's dystopic debut, 'Super Strength EP', rising Parisian Cédric Bros AKA Marcelus returns to Tresor with something a little more deep and shiny in 'Emerald'. Once again Marcelus conjures up the spirits of Detroit and Berlin techno, moulding them here into dreamy modern house incantations-an inspired blurring of the lines the well-versed Frenchman has been rehearsing over the last decade. It was two astounding first releases for DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted House imprint that made the underground dance community sit up and take notice, records that emitted an unprecedented level of craftsmanship for a fresh-faced newcomer. He has continued to impress on follow up releases over the last few years, meanwhile proving to be a flexible and intriguing sound designer, playing with numerous styles and yet always turning in something distinctly 'Marcelus'. 'Emerald' is no different, but instead of tough and rushing euphoria, he delivers something altogether warm and frothy, revealing yet another side to this prismic producer, as well as adding a lighter node to the Tresor catalogue.

Earth, Wind & Fire are obviously one of the greatest bands of all-time and both of these remixes are works of art in their own right. On the A side we have the much in-demand Blaze 'Shelter' remix of "Fantasy" which stretches this classic to 8.55 and finishes with an unbelievable Phillip Bailey acappella. As though that wasn't enough we've put the much sought-after Masters At Work remix of "Can't Hide Love"
a staple record since its debut in 2002.

housey doingz - Gobstopper
Back in the early 90's Dave Coker, Justin Bailey and Laurant Webb set up a music production studio a stones throw away from the famous Cutty Sark in Greenwich, along with Dave " Deptford " Pine as one the founders of the aforementioned studio. They called themselves Strangeweather, worked on different dance music styles and formed the fabulously awesome, but slightly ill fated band Wubble U. Around the same time Justin struck up a friendship with Nathan Coles, a then madly enthusiastic young DJ who was starting to make a name for himself on the thriving underground house scene. Nathan introduced Justin to Terry Francis and the rest of the crew and collectively the formed Housey Doings. They released two records on the Bush subsidiary imprint Green Grass and as if by magic tech house was officially born.
Fast forward a couple of years and the boys replaced the 's' with a 'z' and struck out on their own. This is a re-release of the first record on the label they named after the now legendary club night Wiggle. Two sides of proper, UK style tech house - a sound that's been copied, plagiarized and endlessly imitated. But never bettered. More

Originally released in 1992 on Muzak, an Italian label founded by Leo Mas, Fabrizio Lazzari and Andrea Gemolottoand, which was fundamental in establishing a new Italian dance floor electronic sound in the early 90s strongly intertwined with US influences from what was happening in Detroit and New York at the time. Officially re-issued with new remix of "Fearless" by Berlin based Trent, stripping down the feisty banger from its breakbeat elements and implementing a new Acid feel to it.

Luca Lozano - Root
Somehow Klasse Wrecks has made it to 50 official releases, not bad for a label that wears its ignorance for others and 'the norm' proudly on its dirty sleeve. Over the years the label has released a multitude of various sounds, spanning bleep, rave, deep house, down tempo and the 50th release does well to encapsulate that free spirit and openess. Without much planning and totally by way of coincidence the responsibility lies with label co-owner Luca Lozano and its sonically a typical mixed bag as to be expected. Kicking off with restless acid stomping, the title track barges through the door...knocks over a few drinks before blossoming into a breakdown that propels the 303 deep into space and back again. On the A2, Lozano shows off his love for creaky breakbeats and DX donks on a track called 'Re-Mix'...which as far as we know isnt a remix of anything at all. The flip contains more raving beauties, 'Save Me From The Rave' might be a desperate plea but by the sounds of it he's still enjoying the madness, the producer makes an epic breakdown that might well signify the end of all Trance homages. Then the final track of the EP sounds like it could be played in a field in Glastonbury in 1993, its haunting vocal harmonies signify the sun is coming up soon and likely that we're about to start Chapter 2 of the Wrecks Wrebellion. The special edition sleeve artwork features examples of previous artwork from the last 50 records, overlaid in a typically chaotic manner by the label's designer, PLANETLUKE.COM.

One of his most famous works is his second EP on Cajmere's Relief Records, originally issued in 1996. The EP contains some of the most prolific drum machine action ever committed to vinyl and stands for the sound that brought Chicago House on top of the underground Music map in the mid 90s.

Pickled People - We all know a few of those, but how many of them were turning out bare bones, stripped & funked out rolling tech-house back in 1996? Not many we reckon! Well, except for the dynamic duo of Terry Francis & Jiten Acharya, ably assisted by the man Bushwacka aka Matthew B on mixdown & engineering duties. This self-titled 12" you have here in your hands is a rare diamond, another set of smooth and acidic jams from London's potent tech-house underground, a rich and rewarding scene, one that is back with a vengeance today with discerning selectors from around the globe tuning into what was making clubs move here in the capital pre-millenium. The beauty of these super rare and expensive to obtain tracks is that they seem to be made with both the DJ and the dancer in mind, meaning - they are fun to mix and blend and drop long arse 10 minutes blend with without ever being boring, AND they are sure as hell fun to dance to in the darkened corners of whatever space you're lucky enough to find yourself in. Not short on the old Funk, this is premier league shit right here, from the dons. Proper subterranean business from that London town. Sure to be in your bag for the next 20 years n'all!
