Peter Van Hoesen - Morphology
Big new release by Peter Van Hoesen! Continuing his exploration of intricate techno systems, their effect, and the direct perimeter of action, Peter van Hoesen turns in his newest four-track piece, 'Prime Directive': a fascinating dive into the artist's shape-shifting headspace and inner creative chaos. Fuelled on a furnace-hot mix of abstract-leaning immersion and hi-octane rhythmic thrust, Prime Directive looks at contemporary techno from the angle of experimentation and intuitive abandon. The result comes in four distinct movements, each carving out its own logic and associated behavior in an endless pool of potentialities. Here comes chaology unfolding in all its unadulterated, visceral glory. 'Definition by Absence' breaks the trip into the sound of a faux-random symphony: its train-like swing and fiery bass seesaw coalesce through an elliptic fluttering of sorts, iterative and not, patterns moving in and out of synchronicity as van Hoesen applies more or less pressure on both ends. All in gusty in-your-face-ness, 'Variables Edit 1' whirls and swirls like an ominous vengeance of nature; Its puncturing kicks and whistling menace set against stellar winds and rabid machinery on the prowl for its next victim. An even more unsettling piece of disjointedly arrhythmic, anti-club music for the dance floor, 'Prime Directive' will have you zoning out like a bad dream, flush with metronome-faced monsters and molten clocks hanging from dead trees. 'Morphology' could be PVH's attempt at giving his concepts a carnal carcass to hold onto. Here, the rhythm becomes somewhat less erratic, offering his 360-degree vision more melodic surface and actual room for dispersion. One to keep the boundaries pushed and status-quo challenged, this is techno at its most entrancingly bold and fearless. *This new four-track epic from Peter van Hoesen is draped in a fine piece of artwork courtesy of Atact and pressed according to our standards in 180g audiophile quality, so you can experience the Belgian master's chiseled sound design in all its glory.

peter van hoesen - No Title
Hybrid techno tracks full of tension on Time To Express number 30, presented by label founder Peter Van Hoesen. The Belgian producer takes up the opportunity to expand upon his previous work on the Coast To Coast EP. No longer exclusively restricted to straight 4/4 rhythms, Van Hoesen's music investigates hybrid, broken grooves infused with a clear sense of spatial sonic awareness. This is made clear with the first two tracks, Towards Manifestation and Fox Tactics. On the second half of the EP Van Hoesen launches two solid techno cuts, shifting from dense bassline work (Concrete Varition) to percussive, shuffling grooves (Fox Tactics). As with all previous Time To Express outings a specific I'Ching hexagram was chosen to accompany this release. Hexagram #10 ('Treading upon the tail of the tiger') refers to advancement with care and ways of respectful progress. The title of the EP is a direct reference to the first line of this intriguing hexagram. Nine At The Beginning will be released on vinyl and digital formats on October 23rd 2017. A specially designed t-shirt will be made available at the same time, interpreting Hexagram #10 through its design.

peter van hoesen - EMPIRE IN DECLINE - 2017 DUB
Coast To Coast vividly presents the many faces of Belgian producer and dj Peter Van Hoesen. Example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer's Handwerk Audio synthesizer studios. Van Hoesen's love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. It is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. Entrance To Entropic City takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. Shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. Voodoo Benny's Wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. Menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. Finally, in Empire In Decline - 2017 Dub Van Hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. Shuffling breakbeats form a new base for Empire's bouncing synth lead.

peter van hoesen - Theoretical Terminal
Oscar's Blood is Peter Van Hoesen's tenth solo EP for his own Time To Express label. It features four new tracks, composed and refined in the producer's Berlin studio and properly tested during several shows in late 2016 and early 2017. Both Oscar's Blood and Circumference 12 feature Van Hoesen's take on driving and hypnotic techno. He applies a different approach to Unit Prep and Theoretical Terminal. Both compositions take their cue from subtle yet vibrant percussive patterns, extending into blissful atmospheres.

The 'Receiver' series presents six remixes of tracks from Peter Van Hoesen's acclaimed 'Perceiver' album. All six interpretations showcase the best of what contemporary techno has to offer. The third Receiver release teams up Berghain resident Marcel Fengler with Italian producer Neel, Donato Dozzy's partner in Voices From The Lake. Fengler brings his trademark Berlin sound to the table, craftly reworking Inspection In Solitude. He strips down the original and builds it from the ground up, using shuffling percussion and an insistent melody. Time to jack. Neel's remix brings a deep and dark tunnel to mind. It builds and builds and builds until the original loop from Objects From The Past appears out of the fog, bringing this stunning remix to an epic end. Limited to 400 vinyl copies. Mastered by Artefacts Mastering Berlin.

The 'Receiver' series presents six remixes of tracks from Peter Van Hoesen's acclaimed 'Perceiver' album. All six interpretations showcase the best of what contemporary techno has to offer. The second Receiver release presents two solid interpretations by Scuba's SCB alter ego and [Phase]. SCB brings out the groove on his edit of 'Seven, Green and Black', giving priority to the warm square bass sound of the original. [Phase] takes no prisoners with his tough as nails rework of To Alter A Vector. The mid-track breakdown has already proven its value during Peter Van Hoesen's recent DJ sets. Tested and approved. Limited to 400 vinyl copies per release. Mastered by Artefacts Mastering Berlin.

Tip! Isolee strikes back a new anthem called "Dennis". One of our favorit german producers who has been delivering some groundbreaking tracks since his first releases on Playhouse in the late nineties. Dennis is another fine track and comes with remixes by Ripperton and Baikal. Berliner's Baikal does a labyrinthine bassy version and Ripperton rides on the guitars samples to deliver a groovy 8 wheels dub. Excellent release!

Komisch is a new underground label covering the broad
areas of techno and house music, run by the elusive DJ
Komisch. Primarily aimed at the dance floor, the label,
whose name in German means ‘strange’, ‘unusual’, ‘odd’
or even ‘unconventional’, will nonetheless aim to showcase
and support new approaches to electronic music. Working
with upcoming European producers as well as more
established names, Komisch will focus on teasing new
sounds and ideas from techno and house that’s rooted in
Chicago, Detroit and Berlin. The label will put an emphasis
on high-quality design, mastering/production and vinyl,
something that is often lost in the so-called digital
revolution.
