We're told that the Hot Pot label has been specially resurrected to put out these jams from the one and only former Slum Village DJ, Mahogany Music artist, hip-hop head and house don that is Dez Andres. Just in time for summer, Andrés aka DJ Dez hits back with three perfect house cuts. The Andrés formula is fairly simple, grab a sample, flip it, add warm basslines and drums. Thing is, nobody does it quite like Dez. The title track here is a soulful rave-up spinning on an indelible vocal chop and vamping pianos. "Chevy Status" is true to its name, a chugging mid-tempo hip-hop/house tune perfect for rolling down Woodward Avenue, or if you like, a street in your town. "Pluck Away," meanwhile, takes some jangling, Tropicalia guitars and lets them ride into the sunset, closing out a near perfect record which only builds anticipation for the Detroit man's fourth full-length, Andres IV.

Andres is one that really needs no introduction, but for those unfamiliar here it is: Andres, aka DJ Dez, is one of Detroit's unsung heros of underground music. Since the late 90's Andres has built up an extremely respectable catalog of that blurs the boundaries between genres, most notably his records on KDJ and Mahogani Music. Not to forget, DJ Dez is also Slum Village's DJ, has recorded many hip hop instrumental on Hipnotech Records, and his hand is on countless other Detroit records. A temporary move to Johannesburg focused his lens on deep house as it was the dominant genre. Influenced by AtJazz, Black Coffee, Culoe De Song among others, he spent time in the studio developing his own sound. Positive feedback from early demos fueled his passion to pursue music full time and finally, it’s ready for release.

Into The Zone is a plea for people of all countries to come together based on recent world events, In heaven above is a prayer for those lost in Japanese natural disasters such as the one at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The pain, sorrow, and absence of love is felt in Without Words, while Scenery in My Mind is an insight of Miruga’s dream or philosophy: don’t stop or look back, keep moving, and make things happen. The Spacebunny tracks were originally released on Surreal Recordings back in 1996, the original mix being licensed to Danny Tenaglia's Twisted Secrets (vol2), since then it has become a party classic with original copies changing hands for over £100 on discogs.
The Mingers "Fancy A Shag" track was released in 2002 on Deeper London (a subsidiary of Surreal Recordings) with a limited press of only 200 copies. The track is floor filler and was often one that would kick things off in the early stages of the night, featuring big tribally beats, a fat funky bass and emotive strings.

WRWTFWW Records is very happy to reissue Swiss cult band Grauzone's self-titled album in an expanded 40 Years Anniversary Edition packed with the original 1981 album plus 9 extra songs, as well as extensive liner notes by Swiss music historian Lurker Grand. The 19-track album is available as a double LP vinyl in heavy 350gsm sleeve and a digipack CD, both sourced from the original reels and put together under the supervision of band member and all around legend Stephan Eicher.
The pioneering band from Bern (Switzerland) had a short-lived but highly-regarded career which birthed a cult discography that still fascinates and resonates today. Consisting of core members Martin Eicher, Stephan Eicher, and Marco Repetto, and on-and-off participants Christian GT Trüssel, Claudine Chirac, and Ingrid Berney, the elusive group broke new grounds in the early 80s, experimenting with punk and industrial music, early techno sounds, minimalism, new wave, pop, and various electronics. With an innovative and polished approach to design, visuals, performance, and all around style and philosophy on top of their superb music, the constantly transforming unit developed a whole experience - the Grauzone experience: wild and unpredictable, yet sophisticated and cohesive, or as Swiss music historian Lurker Grand would call it, "an Art band with a Punk attitude".
Completely rejecting the music industry rules and refusing to play the game of promotion, touring, release schedules, and TV appearances even though they had a multi-platinum international hit with the song "Eisbär", the band quickly disintegrated in full convention-defying glory, leaving behind an inspiring music legacy for the world to discover and discover again, one generation after the other.
This extended version of their debut (and only) album beautifully crystallizes the Grauzone miracle/accident - where pop and youthful experimentation meet at (new/cold/no) wave and industrial crossroads, and where classic hits ("Eisbär", "FILM 2", "Raum", "Träume Mit Mir", "Der Weg Zu Zweit"…) flawlessly mesh with unconventional deep cuts ("In Der Nacht", "Film 1", "Maikäfer Flieg"…). Very simply put: GOOD timeless music with an edge.
Stephan Eicher went on to be, arguably, the most successful Swiss musician ever, with an international career extending from pop chanson to experimental escapades and collaborations with Moondog, artists Sophie Calle and Sylvie Fleury, and author Martin Suter among many other luminaries. Marco Repetto flourished as a techno and ambient producer, releasing multiple projects including releases on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label.

The Synewave label has legendary status amongst those who know and now boss man Damon Wild is back on it with a quartet of deep techno treasures. 'Avoidant' is a roaming, cavernous sound with gentle synth notes rising and falling over hefty kicks. 'Invincible' is more sci-fi in style with icy modulations and roaming pads over slinky, kinetic drum patterns and 'Organica' is a jumbled mix of feather hi-hats and more bleeping pulses with kicks pulled far apart.
