We're told that the Hot Pot label has been specially resurrected to put out these jams from the one and only former Slum Village DJ, Mahogany Music artist, hip-hop head and house don that is Dez Andres. They are some of the edits and reworks he has been playing out on the circuit in his Detroit hometown and they get pressed up nice and loud here on fresh wax. First up he reworks a stone-cold classic with a distinctive Latin house twang while on the flip, his signature boom-bap drum work defines another killer groove. Super stuff as ever from the man.

Just in time for summer, Andrés aka DJ Dez hits back with three perfect house cuts. The Andrés formula is fairly simple, grab a sample, flip it, add warm basslines and drums. Thing is, nobody does it quite like Dez. The title track here is a soulful rave-up spinning on an indelible vocal chop and vamping pianos. "Chevy Status" is true to its name, a chugging mid-tempo hip-hop/house tune perfect for rolling down Woodward Avenue, or if you like, a street in your town. "Pluck Away," meanwhile, takes some jangling, Tropicalia guitars and lets them ride into the sunset, closing out a near perfect record which only builds anticipation for the Detroit man's fourth full-length, Andres IV.

NDATL continues with DJ Aakmael's vibrant EP, "The Xposd EP" Kicking things off is "Track 109" a lively and rhythmic blend of Latin jazz infused groove with a bouncy shuffle guaranteed to set hips in motion. NDATL continues with "Libra Rising EP" from new artist Rasheeda Ali, featured in in past on Kai Alce's "Sheed's Move" taken from the "Back In This Sh!t EP" since then she's been with Jeff Mills accompanying him on stages worldwide. NDATL continues with the return of Kayenne, Rain Fall Down originally produced by Chris Brann is the first single from Kayenne's forthcoming full length, produced by various Atlanta based producers, Kai Alce, Stefan Ringer, DJ Kemit, Salah Ananse & Chris Brann. This first offering bring forth Kayenne's sweet melody over atmospheric rhythms & pads over driving drums brought together on Anthony Nicholson's rewerk. Next an unexpected late night groover from Plastik Recordings, Marc Cotterell where his deep chords transport you deep into the dancefloor.

This last mix comes from Groove Victim aka Jay Brown (whom we unfortunately lost late 2021) simple but elegantly effective very reminiscent of the early 90' MAW dubs! Once again NDATL blazes forward!

There's a reason Kai Alce's name consistently comes up when the topic is exceptional house music. The NDATL label boss's remix of the Dangerfeel Newbies' "What Am I Here For" takes the soulful number to heights beyond the original's already heady groove. J'Piccola sings with a perspective that's like bopping through the city, skyscrapers above giving dimension to the groundwork so necessary for love and progression. His vocals match the pace of propelling keyboards by Chris Irvin and DelvynW. Saxophone by Quinn Mason adds an element that in Alce's Distinctive hands becomes a part of all things classic house: deep, melodic, and ultimately, free. That's particularly true of the KZR's Late Night Mix. It harkens the wee hours with a shuffle, leading keys and pinpoint bass. The Piano Instrumental puts keys front and center, with a few jazzy chords that recall the hippest, dopest brunch you've ever attended. The entire project is very much Atlanta-grown, representing its strong, interconnected music and art scene. All the key contributors are based in the city, from Alce and the Dangerfeel Newbies, to acclaimed visual artist Radcliffe Bailey, who created the album art, and tastemaking graphic artist Steve DeNiro, who designed the album layout.
