Because Music will release at the same time a double CD Best-Of compiling all their best hits and a live show recorded at the Shepherd's Bush Empire (London) in 2004.

Together for a relatively short period of time, the three albums and three EPs they released between 1996 and 2004 would nonetheless help define them as one of the most exciting and cherished bands of their generation.
Released in 1999, the album "The Beta Band" followed the critically acclaimed compilation "The Three E.P.'s" (1998). With high anticipation for The Beta Band, the band originally planned to record the album in four separate continents, but financial constraints slimmed the recording locations down; however, the album was still recorded in a variety of locations and pulling inspiration from sources as diverse as Jamaican reggae, Disney's movie "The Black Hole" and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart".
The band also originally intended the album to contain a bonus disc of two long form ambient pieces, 'Happiness and Colour' and 'The Hut', both of which lasted over 20 minutes and represented the band's desire to "make a record of sound as a description for something like happiness, where a distinct first part gives way to a distinct second part". However, the band and label ultimately decided to remove these tracks from the album prior to release.

As we reach the 19th year of Cocoon's residence on Ibiza, the location may have changed from Amnesia to Pacha, but the enthusiasm for perhaps the most enduring party on the Mediterranean island is guaranteed to continue. Actually, only the sun, sea and wind are more reliable!

The celebrated live sets of Bulgaria's life wire Strahil Velchev aka KiNK have been a vital ingredient for the ecstatic nights over the years. With unprecedented regularity, the man from Sofia has been voted best live act by readers of Groove magazine for the last three years, and in 2017 he was also crowned best electronic music producer. As KiNK, together with Sven Väth, celebrate one of the most popular evenings of this year's season as well, what could be more logical than to repurpose the famed Cocoon Ibiza Mix CD series into another live document of the event?
No sooner said than done, and so here the Bulgarian offers a 70-minute cross-section of his skills. Well-known tracks, especially from last year's "Playground" LP (Running Back) meet exclusive, unreleased material in a spontaneous tour de force through the history of electronic dance music. There are distinctive nods to Chicago and Detroit, jazzy organs spiralling into string-drenched skies ("The Russian"), insatiable acid excursions ("Five") and heavy duty discoid workouts ("Use The Rhythm", "Perth") as KiNK's irresistible nature strikes repeatedly at the heart of the dance floor.

The message as always is "gute Laune!" (good vibes!), if we are allowed to borrow that sacred phrase for just a moment...

Pussyfoot Records is back after the label's 15-year hiatus with a brand-new E.P featuring both old and new Pussyfoot artists. 'The Shape of Cats to Come' mixes genre, age and artistry, showcasing the label's diverse and varied roster of artists from all over the world. The E.P comes as a limited edition 12" vinyl with beautiful artwork by Tokyo artist Rob Kidney. Following his explosive Figure-EP just this recent summer, Juxta Position now reveals his more sublime side on these two technoid journeys. Keeping it raw and beautiful, the analogue lover lets his synths engage in dialogue, floating through murky realms and simply getting lost in the groove.
A new face for Figure and definitely one to watch is Pablo Mateo. Taking a likewise subtle yet distinctly more grounded approach, his tunes unfold slowly and each tell their entirely own storyline. First Terrace deliver another instalment of their split series, following on from the meditative trip supplied by Chihei Hatakeyama and Vida Vojic on FTS002 & the blissful first edition from K. Leimer & Like A Villain.
On the 'line' side of FTS003 we hear the meeting of three veteran improvisors - Anna Homler (Breadwoman/Pharmacia Poetica), Adrian Northover (Remote Viewers) and Dave Tucker (The Fall). Born from the fertile creative friction of the London Improvisers Orchestra, they incantate together to deliver a clutch of winding, curious, mesmeric compositions.
On the 'circle' side we present a recording from Pierre Bastien - an artist of startling singularity and endless, joyful creativity. Recorded at Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona with Catalonian group Cabo San Roque, Pierre takes the helm of their monumental mechanical sound sculpture - the Orquestra Mecànica de la França Xica - and guides the vast array of cogs and pistons through three movements. The orchestra was made up of thirty or forty machines, all linked to Pierre's casio keyboard.

Tim Jones, also known as Preacherman and recorded under Midi Man, Ironing Board Band and T.J. Hustler. He made one very rare lp, and two even rarer CD's. These tracks are from the CD's. He was a salesman for IBM in Las Vegas, where he sold Selectric Typewriters and then word processors during the day and at night he would perform in the Las Vegas lounges. He was somewhat of an engineer and adapted a Hammond B3 organ to play a moog synth with some of the organ keys, (some still played the organ), and he adapted the organ's foot controlled bass levers to play two Moog synth bass pedals (a failed item Moog made for a few years.) Thinking he wasn't much of a live performer he had a wooden puppet made that he named T.J Hustler, and together with the puppet, he would engage in long philosophical soliloquies, (some of which are featured on this album). If you meet Tim, he is not someone who stops talking. In fact he even created a little book called Universal Philosophy. He has a lot to say about everything. Currently he lives with his 103 year old mother in Oakland. There he infrequently plays shows on his Casio where he fashions himself a live Karaoke performer, who comes complete with 5 wireless mics and P.A. and a list of about a 100 songs he can play. His invented organ contraption and puppet are in storage in Las Vegas, and he seems intensely uninterested in getting them out, as "The kids these days want to hear the sounds the Casio makes."

Livity Sound continues to be one of the most innovative labels of its era with another essential release, this time in the form of a debut long player from Forest Drive West. This extended 2 x 12" and digital release, 'Apparitions' lands in October 2018 and is a fascinating further development of the producer's intricate fusions of techno, dub and jungle.
The acclaimed UK artist has released two EPs on the label before now, as well as on its sister label dnuoS ytiviL and the likes of Hidden Hawaii, Appian Sound, and London drum & bass outlet Rupture. Little is known about the London based producer but in just a couple of years he has established his own unique blend of complex rhythms and tactile sound design, distilling a rich history of UK musical influences into fresh new forms.
This record continues in that tradition with a mix of sparse rhythm tracks that contrast heavy weight drum programming with rich and deft sound design. From menacing and mysterious, to cinematic and hypnotic, it makes for a compelling and immersive experience. 'Apparitions' is a landmark release for one of the UK's most exciting new producers.

Short info: Edizioni Mondo as a label, has the goal to produce music that is descriptive of concepts, images and environments. Inspired by library music, a genre frequently used as theme or background music in radio, film and television in that very same period, the name MONDO has its roots in “MONDO MOVIES", an Italian movie genre born in the 60’s. Mondo movies are characterized by documentary-like content that addresses several topics from around the world ("mondo"). Numero nove comes courtesy of ROTLA. Also known as Mario Pierro and Raiders of the Lost Arp, “Waves” is his third contribution to Edizioni Mondo. Downtempo, trippy, playful and pardon us, balearic, it's the soundtrack to the fading summer or the one starting somewhere else in this universe. Hamburg’s Front club was already the stuff of legend, when it was still open. When I was teenager on the outskirts of Frankfurt in the very early nineties - and before the name Klaus Stockhausen rang a bell - Boris Dlugosch was not only at the helm of said club, but also one of Germany’s finest purveyors of house music. Front was his home as well as the playground for a colourful bunch of club kids from all walks of life. Its roots went back to the eighties as a gay club and it branched out to anyone who couldn’t „even dance straight “.
The rumours about this club were strong enough to get people like Playhouse’s Ata on a road trip and have youngsters like me fantasizing about it. The musical menu during that time was the monster house sound from the US and the UK that rotated deepness with hysteric glamour.
Of course, Front’s sound was finely nuanced. Boris Dlugosch learned his craft from Klaus Stockhausen, who stopped his DJ career in 1992 (because - as he told me in an interview about ten years later - „every Bratwurst wanted to be a DJ all of a sudden“) to pursue a career as fashion editor and stylist. Stockhausen’s thing as a resident (which actually meant to play at ONE club EVERY week during that time), was a mixture between electro, US-American R&B, British street soul, new wave and the emerging house sound. If you manage to dig up old recordings on the internet (a musical diet I lived on for a few years), there are striking similarities to the way classic US-American DJ would play, while adding a fierce uniqueness that won’t let it pale in comparison. On the contrary, the sound of Front is one of the most interesting, you will ever lend your ears, too.
So, why a Front mix and compilation 21 years after the club closed its doors? On the one hand, because it’s story hasn’t been told yet and it’s worth telling. On the other one, German clubs like Robert Johnson or Berghain - as divergent as they might are - both resemblance Front’s spirit, diversity and musical open mindedness. And finally, because dancing is still fun.
Even, if putting a compilation like together this took over one year in the making, is peppered with licensing horrors and other obstacles to dreadful to share them here, we are happy to have it done. Spread over a double-CD and two compilation LPs that are mainly chronological, Klaus Stockhausen and Boris Dlugosch picked and mixed some of the club’s most cherished records and sweetest moments. This is the sound of Front. And even, if I was never able to move my feet on its dance floor, I for one would be a very different DJ without it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

There is no stopping Meggy at the moment. With “TIMES” and “WELCOME TO THE V”, the Berlin born DJ, producer and vocalist has already delivered two top notch EPs on Suol in 2018 and here she is back again already with a third. Sporting four tracks, the “FLOWERS EP” once again showcases not only Meggy’s production prowess but also the unmistakable vocal style and songwriting abilities which have earned her so many high level feature appearances throughout her career.
The title track revolves around a hypnotically modulating analogue synth riff and drum patterns that point urgently towards the dance floor. Meggy speaks to us through chords that have an almost ravey feel to them. With its clever arrangement this track is clearly hands-in-the-air material.
“VERY MOMENTS” starts with only an electrically charged synth and organ combo and a classic Meggy vocal. The groove then starts building bit by bit, patiently leaving space for a beautifully emotional piece of songwriting before elegantly placed pianos come in and the hi-hats pick up the pace.
A bouncing interaction of drum machine and syncopated, squelching bass line draws us in straight away in “SUMMER NITES”. On a track that would surely be a dance floor winner even if it were left instrumental, the vocal with the little R&B touch that Meggy does so well is the icing on the cake.
The EP ends with “CLOSER”, the deepest and most emotional of the four tracks. Whether it is the somewhat melancholic vocal or the positive feelings of the instrumental parts you catch on to, the groove will make you want to dance either way.

A1 was originally released on Mosaic and stays true to the dub techno sound which defined the label while the other tracks have never seen the light of day until now. As always, the return of Ruede Hagelstein is inevitable and with each return he ups the ante tenfold showcasing his ever growing prowess behind the studio door. It seems as if, with each Ruede EP, the amount of elements utilized shrinks while at the same time the sound grows in power and dominance and that could not be better exemplified than here.

Consisting of two originals and a remix from the one and only Martin Buttrich, the EP is a gross display of well thought out, mature dance floor jewels. Opening the short player is Hagelstein's 'Dematerialize feat. Justin Evans' where a sinister yet soothing vocal sets the tone for the entire track, laying the groundwork for a gorgeous bass drum and shimmers of distant percussion carry us into celestial spaces. 'Forward Vision' is up next and follows suit by relying on a brooding minimal groove to drive the shimmers of glistening atmospherics and sparkling sonics optimal for dizzy and delirious club moments.

Last but certainly not least we turn to the legend who is Martin Buttrich to twist the original 'Dematerialize feat.
