A four-track melodic jungle release from Black Barrel might not be what you expected, but he continues to impress and demonstrate his versatility again. His sound has continued to evolve and explore new musical grounds across his many releases for Dispatch. Just as you think you can identify his trademark elements, he switches things up in new and exciting ways.

This selection of tracks instinctively found their home on Dispatch Dubplate; a collection of mid-90s inspired tunes with an Omni Trio / Essence of Aura vibe, pure jungle deepness and added Black Barrel flair. Built with layers of classic era sounds each track reveals a new side to his production across four deep cuts.

True to the nature of the Dispatch Dubplate range, these tracks have already been circulating on dub for some time and have been getting a lot of love. Goldie is a huge fan of Black Barrel's melodic jungle takes and tried to bag these 4 for Metalheadz at a later stage after road-testing them out at clubs and festivals. More

Mister Shifter teams up with his close friend Fanu yet again, this time on Dispatch Dubplate. Two producers who share a profound love of sampling and manipulating fresh breakbeats, showcase what they do best on this 4-track release.

"Reverse Dawn" from Fanu sets the tone for this release, its otherworldly atmospheres are matched with precision drum work and tense, driving bass. This track was the initial spark that birthed this release. When the contrasting remix from Mister Shifter arrived it was clear they belonged on the same Dispatch Dubplate.

Mister Shifter takes Fanu's "Reverse Dawn" into bold & contrasting new territory by adding high-powered breakbeats (some courtesy of Paradox and Mako), clever edits, and a floor-quaking bassline. Many of Fanu's ethereal & moody elements remain intact, letting the remix proudly showcase the finest qualities of each producer.

Vinyl-exclusive "The Kingpin" pays homage to the famed Blue Note-era sound, while looking forward with a modern production techniques and aesthetics. This track pulls no punches, featuring a devastating mid-song change-up that rivals anything Mister Shifter has released to date. Fans of HBO's "The Wire" will appreciate the dialogue samples from which the track draws its name. A staple in Mister Shifter's DJ sets, "The Kingpin" has received support around the globe from the likes of Gremlinz, Double O, Mantra, Ant TC1, Andy Odysee, and Djinn.

Capping off the release is old-school rave banger "That Dreama Trak VIP", taking things back to where it all started by lowering the BPM and elevating the vibes. Drawing inspiration from the likes of 2 Bad Mice and early 90's Moving Shadow, Mister Shifter gives us a modern take on the hardcore breakbeat and rave music that helped shape his musical foundation. Pitched-down Amen & Think breaks, Mentasms, and vocal samples combine into an anthemic, hands-in-the-air floor-filler. More

Dispatch Dubplate starts 2023 as it means to go on, with this impressive second Dubplate release from Loxy and Resound. Fuelled by the success of their sold-out debut release for the label in 2021, the pair set to work on more music for Dispatch almost immediately after.

Three deeply textural and progressive deep cuts, from the masters of that minimal sound that maintains maximum impact. Percussive and atmospheric in their own trademark style, Loxy and Resound do what they do best for another standout Dispatch Dubplate.

Dispatch Dubplate makes its long-awaited return with the first of six new releases, brought to you by Mako - including a collab with Ben Soundscape.

Setting out to champion the best in unreleased music and those tunes which have been long cherished dubs by prominent figures within the dnb community, Dispatch Dubplate returns after an almost two year break with this special release from Mako. Heading up the release is "The Man", a tune that Ant TC1 has been playing for years and could never put down. One that prompted constant ID requests from DJs and ravers alike, this tune fully represents the Dispatch Dubplate ethos due to the mystery and hype surrounding the track. Originally made as an experiment, with Mako wanting to focus on crusty sounding production with no mid bass or prominent fog horns - it's a back to basic track that celebrates the raw energy of drum and bass. After much email
wrangling and WhatsApp based arm twisting we're pleased to finally get this stand-out track out there.

The Dispatch Dubplate series makes vinyl the focus, and each release features an exclusive track that will never be sold digitally. "Mission Critical" champions our favourite format on this release with a loop based roller dreamt up on a hazy, stoned day. Originally forgotten about by Mako himself, this one was championed by Mikal (and Ant of course) and has now found its way out there thanks to Mik's love and appreciation.

Completing the release is a collab with Ben Soundscape, Mako's personal favourite of the three. Utilising some drums from another tune called "Tell Me Something" released by Mako on Metalheadz, the pair set out to make something new. Originally signed by the late, great, Marcus Intalex for Soul:R it was eventually swapped out for a different tune of Mako's - this makes it another perfect fit for Dispatch Dubplate, given the love and following it created during live sets but never saw the light of day (until now). A welcome return to this fabled series, watch this space for more.
