After releasing ‚Morgenland’ album Der Dritte Raum Record's stable drops their eight EP, bringing up Hale Bopp, which some of you may know from trance shenanigans back in the roaring 90’s. What makes it even more better then the original classic track are the re-interpretations. Ricardo Villalobos & Cavaan flashes their acclaimed producer talents and their works are both very original and quite different from each other. The first - and title track on this excellent album is called 'Electric Friends', a brilliant tune that highlights a smart way for listeners to approach the record. It showcases an extremely catchy lead synthesizer melody, underpinned by a sharp electronic backing. The track is suitably catchy without ever approaching raucousness. "Electric Friends' reflects the wide range of Krüger's musical interests, and there are some homages. "Command Line" has the odd distinction of being an Front 242 influenced track (in terms of beats and synths). 'Wasserstoff' is laid-back, starting with house-chord sounds, before getting all running noisy.Uptempo, danceable instrumental techno dominates the album, but the detours are frequent enough to make "Electric Friends" works as a varied, complete document with feel-good body music.

There's not a soul with the slightest interest in electronic music who has never danced to a track by this extraordinary talented producer. He's one of the few that has truly created his own signature sound. Krüger's trademark is his excessive use of hardware intruments in the studio as well as during his live-performances. For his new output he recorded live drum sessions, and clarinet player and a bunch of vintage instruments are used - like black holes, they suck in and spit out the most varied influences. Der Dritte Raum is back! It's hard to believe but it's been 16 years since Andreas Krüger released his first album on Harthouse, followed by five more albums and countless 12-inches on various labels. This coming album, his seventh, will be released on his own imprint Save to Disc, which has recently been the subject of a friendly takeover by Andreas.
With Rosa Rausch, Andreas has released another one of his typical musical kaleidoscopes. His distinctive grooves last from the first to the very last bar of the record - sometimes brisk, sometimes subtle; he knows how to fascinate his audience. His deep love for hypnotic arrangements and entrancing synth-lines - derived from the classic machines of the last century - exudes from every moment of this album. Still the tracks don't fit the usual labels. The impact of two decades of House and Techno merge with solid Ambient sounds, Electro and Swing into a genre-busting amalgam full of musical surprises. You can hear that this bedrock of Techno history is beyond proving himself to anyone, every musical facet is an exactly placed but casual shot from the hip. Andreas exquisitely manages to transfer day-to-day inspiration into distinct musical positions.
Wonderful moments come out of this vintage machinery: pounding and hissing like a steam train, title track Rosa Rausch gains momentum on this trip into the countryside. Beats jingle cheerfully like ice cubes in a highball glass. Summery synthies convey a feeling of sand between your toes. Two other tracks, Lieblingsloop and Blautaut, also have this spirit of the summer; with a feeling of effortlessness and of the sun shining on your face, the music takes your hand and draws you to the dance floor.
That's where Swing Bop is already waiting for you. Last year's uber-hit, still putting a smile on all our faces. But, as we all know, Der Dritte Raum has other sides to him, too. Gerät außer Kontrolle lets lose a crazy percussion session, a worthy reference to old school Techno.
Soft and warm, the album comes to an end; the descent begins with a Kleine Freiluftschleife, on Weitwelt, we take one last round through the orbit in our little space ship and dreamily look at Andreas Krüger's sound universe. At the Landungsbrücken, the pilot finally drops us off. We stay on the bank for a little while, relive those manifold images of our journey and enjoy the evening sun on our faces. Life's good.

For his new output he recorded live drum sessions, and clarinet player and a bunch of vintage instruments are used - like black holes, they suck in and spit out the most varied influences. What is so memorable about this thirteen new tracks is the way it strikes the perfect balance between studio-experimentation and groovy techno without ever breaking stride or losing focus. On the A side, we see TOBY DREHER who created a great and perfect DJ tool that has enormous power on the dancefloor. The Third Room is back - not without a reason, of course: on the brink of the tenth anniversary of his uber-smasher HALE BOPP, Andreas Krüger steps up to send his classic's timeless hookline on a wild journey into the past. SWING BOP is the name of the splendid result, bringing back memories only our grandparents could actually have. Berlin in the 1920s: a brief eruption of hedonism, manifesting in galloping creativity, a pulsating nightlife and cocaine being sold on almost every street corner, before the Great Depression and rising fascism put a sudden end to this burlesque bustle.
The groove and glamour of past days have fascinated Krüger long before the birth of The Third Room. For lack of an orchestra, he trades his motorcycle for a Sequential Prophet 2002 Sampler in the mid-eighties, using this device to sample sounds from swing shellacs he inherited and taking first steps in that direction long before it became popular.
At the beginning of the nineties, Krüger starts his project The Third Room, instantly achieving worldwide prestige within the world of techno. His dedication for the swing-typical triplet feeling steps aside for a while and only finds its way back into his musical world at the end of 2007. Inspired by a wild night full of YouTube videos of modern swing orchestras, he jauntily covers himself and resurrects his world hit HALE BOPP in a truly extravagant new outfit. Starting with a couple of test runs during his famous live acts, soon a few DJs get the chance to try out SWING BOP's explosive qualities on ecstatic dancefloors. Countless requests and ecstatic feedback support Krüger's decision to release this charming revenant. After engaging Berlin-based Andreas Ernst to bring in clarinet and saxophone and performing a friendly take-over of the hamburg-based electro imprint SAVE TO DISC it is now about to happen: The triplet fever is going to infect the dancefloors worldwide.

His dedication for the swing-typical triplet feeling steps aside for a while and only finds its way back into his musical world at the end of 2007. Inspired by a wild night full of YouTube videos of modern swing orchestras, he jauntily covers himself and resurrects his world hit HALE BOPP in a truly extravagant new outfit. Starting with a couple of test runs during his famous live acts, soon a few DJs get the chance to try out SWING BOP's explosive qualities on ecstatic dancefloors. Countless requests and ecstatic feedback support Krüger's decision to release this charming revenant. After engaging Berlin-based Andreas Ernst to bring in clarinet and saxophone and performing a friendly take-over of the hamburg-based electro imprint SAVE TO DISC it is now about to happen: The triplet fever is going to infect the dancefloors worldwide.

The new release features a new cut by Oxia himself as well as several remixes by none other than Frankey & Sandrino, Robag Wruhme and Matador. The EP will be released through Agoria's newly found record label Sapiens on February 24th.
Ten years ago the track made waves in the international dance music circuit, striking up chords with techno, trance and house DJs alike to quickly become an all-time classic. Having never expected the track to reach the status that it his, it's a very dear project to Oxia and he needed quite some persuading to give in and let Agoria and his team create something that was worthy of the original. The set of tracks are the first officially commissioned remixes by Oxia ever.

Metronomy release their third album, 'The English Riviera' on April 11th through Because Music. The follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed 'Nights Out', 'The English Riviera' is a sonic progression of epic proportions and affirms Metronomy front man and producer, Joseph Mount, as a rare British talent.
Since 'Nights Out', the band have swollen to a four piece with new members Anna Prior on drums, Gbenga Adelekan on bass, original member Oscar Cash on keys/sax, and Joe himself on vocals, keys and guitar. This expansion of personnel is reflective of a new record that is mapped by vast soundscapes, incredible depth and warmth, and big pop hooks
Part love letter to the area of Devon coast Mount grew up in and part concept album about his own semi-fictionalised vision of "The English Riviera", the tone for the album is set by the opening sounds of seagulls, distant waves and a Music Hall string quartet. However, any notion of whimsy is swiftly dispelled, as the seismic bass line of 'We Broke Free' shudders and ushers in waves of layered guitars and synths.
Having produced and remixed everyone from Roots Manuva to Kate Nash and the forthcoming album from Nicola Roberts, this is the first Metronomy album that Mount has taken out of his bedroom and recorded in a proper studio. The results are telling.
Characterised throughout with a sense of warmth and richness, 'The English Riviera' is in parts reminiscent of seminal 1970s West Coast studio albums from the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, but due to Mount's studio wizardry, the record sounds vibrant and entirely of its time.
Few other albums released this year will so successfully transcend such a plethora of influences and ideas and form such a coherent body of work.

US born and meanwhile in Berlin residing Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent presents his Cocoon Recordings single debut. Ambivalence seems to the be the musical direction here. "Daylights" is a sheer technomonster, musclepacked and full of dark detroit flavour but the used vocal samples and the harmonic synthstrings can't hide the magic touch of "Daylights". Although the massive techno bassline is the star of this track we are sure it will find its way into the sets of many house DJs, too.
In contrast to that "Swung Out" appears way more like pure techno and cannot be filed as house at all. We are hypnotized by the shuffled rim shots and hi hats and Ambivalent drives this one straight through the dub universe. Techno is the destination and the dark vibe of "Swung Out" makes it a perfect after hour weapon.
