6th Release of the Parisian Label D.KO Records. This record is a tribute to the club « Le Malibv » which recently closed and where D.KO held countless parties. « Le Malibv » offered the opportunity to a lot of young Djs and promoters from the new generation to present themselves in the French capital. As a duty and for the memorable parties they held there, the label wanted to thank the club for all the good vibes shared. Each artist in this record has played at Le Malibv on a D.KO party and present his vision of a night there.

Kicking off with the unhurried ssures of ‘WOUH’, a time stopping piece set to distract and provoke new observations with each listen. Typical of Jaar’s pieces, ‘WOUH’ threads sparse arrangements, quirky gulps of sound and electric ambiance in a complex tapestry of engulng harmony. The anthemic ‘Love You Gotta Lose Again’ moves into contrasting boundless activity with broken beats, triumphant singing and pleasant guitar licks. The track is laden with allure and magnetism and made for endless enjoyment at any time. ‘Don’t Believe The Hype’ retreats into mystique again - a cascading mass of body moving sound simmering with broodiness and secrecy, it is short, sharp and succinct in its action to arouse the listener’s senses. Nicolas Jaar will release two of these original cuts of his ‘Inés’ compilation this winter, through his own Clown & Sunset imprint, while the captivating ‘WOUH’ is exclusive to this release. Recently hailed a ourishing young star by the Guardian newspaper, 20 year old Jaar is inspiring ears and eyes around the world with his original musical approach. Born in NYC where he currently resides, his early years spent in Chile created a multi-cultural nature to his music that resonates far and wide. US born and meanwhile in Berlin residing Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent presents his Cocoon Recordings single debut. Ambivalence seems to the be the musical direction here. "Daylights" is a sheer technomonster, musclepacked and full of dark detroit flavour but the used vocal samples and the harmonic synthstrings can't hide the magic touch of "Daylights". Although the massive techno bassline is the star of this track we are sure it will find its way into the sets of many house DJs, too.
In contrast to that "Swung Out" appears way more like pure techno and cannot be filed as house at all. We are hypnotized by the shuffled rim shots and hi hats and Ambivalent drives this one straight through the dub universe. Techno is the destination and the dark vibe of "Swung Out" makes it a perfect after hour weapon.

We are delighted to announce that July 2023 is the month in which you will finally be able to know the new Apparel Wax product: Apparel Wax Mini. The Mini catalogue (dedicated to 7-inch vinyl) fits into the narrative of our masked hero as a sort of prequel, as the 'Mini' vinyl represents the 'childhood' of Apparel Wax, his life before its music started to be heard around the world. Another novelty is that the first release is double. In fact, APLWAXMINI001 and 002 will drop on the same day, both containing two tracks, one on each side. With a physical product of different size, we have also adapted the graphic design of the project, as you'll notice looking at the record. A new adventure begins in the world of the masked artist who, this time, will tell another musical story created by the now famous anonymous collective of phenomenal artists behind the project. APLWAXMINI001 is composed of two tracks perfect for the summer period, both with a very marked essence of lightness and groovy, both ideal to bring back the carefree and cheerful musical soul at the base of the project since its origins.
