For the inaugural release on the newly-minted London label Tender Hooks, Jack Dixon delivers an edgy three track EP of shimmering techno, pounding house music and tangled electronics. Over the last few years he has risen through the ranks with landmark releases for the likes of Hotflush, Apollo (R&S), and most recently Get Physical with his arresting remix of Catz 'n Dogz recent smash 'They Frontin'. Dixon cites Tim Hecker, Autechre and Wolfgang Voigt as influences and this EP is as equally diverse. Tender Hooks is a brand new vinyl and digital label formed out of a bi-monthly(ish) party residing at Corsica Studios in South London. Set for release next month, Chris Spero (otherwise known as UK house and techno producer Glimpse) and Hypercolour co-founder and producer, Alex Jones, return once again as Dense & Pika to the Hotflush fold with ‘Move Your Body Back.’ Having crept out of the shadows back in 2011 with a collection of white labels released through their own eponymous imprint, Dense & Pika went on to bolster their rising profile with the release of their Hotflush debut (‘Crispy Duck') which landed late last year as well as with their memorable live set at Hotflush's recent Boiler Room Takeover.
There is nothing chin-strokingly complicated or needlessly over-worked about their productions. They make interesting techno aimed at the dance floor and ‘Move Your Body Back,’ continues with this central aesthetic. The three track EP plunders percussive depths by way of stern machine rhythms, swollen low-end grit and the echoing, anthemic elements of warehouse rave techno. The title track of the EP may already be familiar to many having appeared on their Resident Advisor podcast in March and is already being played out by Maya Jane Coles, Boddika and Adam Beyer, amongst others. Belgian producer, Tim Van de Meutter, aka Locked Groove, returns to Hotflush for a second EP following the success of January’s
pivotal Rooted release. Keep It Simple comprises four weighty examples of why the young producer’s unique fusion of big-room

Hotflush presents the debut 12" from Belgian newcomer Locked Groove aka Tim Van de Meutter. The young producer delivers three hypnotizing and genre bending tracks that expertly weave the sounds of Berghain, soulful house and UK garage into a single crushing package. The “Rooted” EP draws you in with the title track, bouncing along to an acid baseline, then moves onto “Drowning”, a moody techno track that was included on Scuba’s DJ-Kicks mix compilation, filled with drum and ambient samples taken from field recordings. Hotflush presents a special collaboration between two modern-day techno innovators: Paul Woolford and Psycatron. Both maintaining an influential discography on labels such as Planet E, Intimacy, Tresor, and Bedrock, they've come together to produce "Stolen", a nine-minute techno excursion. Utilising relentless, throbbing percussion that sizzles over growling, acidic synthesis and carefully placed samples, it's presented in three distinct versions, introducing filter-swept chords in the Dub Mix, and an even deeper submersion in the second Dub Mix that perfectly eclipses the raw temperament of the original.
