Sähkömies is Jimi Tenor's solo debut from his NYC period in early 90's. Sähkömies (Electrician) is a mixture of great melodies embedded to Tenor's first ideas of his SunRa-flavoured jazz tableau. The album is combining Tenor's smokey sax with lo-fi electronics and experimentations with techno synths like Roland 303&606. More

Jimi Tenor's new single on Philophon was created at the label's own Joy Sound Studios in Kumasi/Ghana. Here he encountered the lively music scene that the city, once the birthplace of highlife, has to offer.

With the title track My Mind, Jimi brings one of his classics from the 90s to new life. It goes without saying that he takes the highlife beat as his basis here.

With Love Is The Language he has created another hymn to the mystery of love, the exploration of which runs like a common thread through his now extensive work.

On both pieces he is accompanied by the ten-man Rubato Chorus. The result is two epic pieces that are consistent with Jimi's work. More

Variophon is Philophon's newly established sub-label. As the name suggests, Variophon is designed to release variations, or more commonly expressed, remixes of songs taken from the Philophon catalog. The beginning on Variophon makes the all around the world beloved Jimi Tenor by remixing himself.

Jimi has chosen one title each from his two albums released on Philohon. From his first, "Order of Nothingness", it is the gently dancing "Myteria" and from his recently released "Aulos" the driving "Vocalize My Luv" (featuring Florence Adooni and Lizzy Amaliyenga). He electrified both pieces in his own very personal, subtle way in order to achieve what he does best: make people happily dancing! More

Jimi Tenor blickt auf eine beinahe 30 jährige Karriere und mittlerweile über 20 veröffentliche Alben auf den renommiertesten Labels wie Warp Records, Sähkö oder Kitty-Yo zurück. Dennoch gibt sich der finnischen Komponist und Multiinstrumentalist niemals mit der Rolle des renommierten Popkünstlers zufrieden, sondern ist auch heute noch ungebrochen aktiv und immer auf der Suche nach neuen Möglichkeiten, seinen ureigenen Sound aus Jazz, Afrobeats und experimenteller elektronischer Musik fortzuschreiben. Nach Veröffentlichung der Compilation "NY, Hel, Barca" im vergangenen Jahr, die sich Tenors Frühwerken und ausgewählten Stücken seiner ersten sechs Alben widmete, erscheint mit "Deep Sound Learning" nun eine Zusammenstellung unveröffentlichter Tracks aus den Jahren 1993 bis 2000. Tenors kreatives Output in dieser Zeit war derart enorm, dass er unzählige DAT-Tapes mit Aufnahmen an sein damaliges Label Warp Records schickte, das diese in einem Tresor in seinem Büro sammelte. Einige der auf diesen Tapes enthaltenen Stücke fanden ihren Weg auf Tenors LPs - andere blieben bis heute unveröffentlicht. Gemeinsam mit Jimi Tenor hat Bureau B dieses beeindruckende, bisher ungehörte Material nun geborgen und daraus eine Doppel-LP/-CD zusammengestellt, das weitaus mehr ist als eine Archivschau. Die 19 Tracks der Compilation führen die Hörer hinaus auf eine unendlich weite Spielwiese, auf der sich rudimentäre polyrhythmische Drum-Machine-Tracks neben ungestümen 303-gesteuerten Minimal-House-Skizzen ebenso versammeln wie Tenors ureigene Future-Jazz-Kompositionen und in sich versunkene DowntempoArrangements. Ja, Panik sind zurück! Während das letzte, experimentellforschende und in viele Richtungen mäandernde Pop-Album "Die Gruppe Ja, Panik" (2021) ihr überraschendes Comeback nach siebenjähriger Kreativpause markierte, ist "Don"t play with the rich kids" nun so etwas wie ihre Rückkehr als RockBand. Als die Gang aus dem Burgenland, die sich spätestens seit "The Angst And The Money" (2009) in unser aller Herzen gespielt hat. Wir sehen Stefan Pabst, Sebastian Janata, Laura Landergott und Andreas Spechtl auf dem Cover-Foto sanft umhüllt von einem Tuch am Strand von Nirgendwo. Es hält die Band nach innen zusammen und weist gleichzeitig eine klare Grenze nach außen: Wir sind hier, und Du bist da! Und es scheint nahezu unmöglich, in diesen inner circle hineinzukommen. Eleganter lässt sich das weltweit grassierende Klassismus-Problem wohl kaum darstellen. wohl auch irgendwann einmal mit auf den Weg gegeben. Ihr Nihilismus made in Austria als Grundgefühl ist immer noch wichtiger Markenkern, aber er wird nun wesentlich reflektierter vorgetragen. Und das inzwischen ganz selbstverständliche Mitverhandeln der eigenen Privilegien scheint die Band in ihren neuen Songs regelrecht zu beflügeln. Denn diese Rich Kids sind schließlich auch sie selbst. Davon lässt sich selbstbewusst erzählen. Wobei das natürlich unbedingt im globalen Maßstab zu sehen ist. Stop what you're doing and give us your full attention because Hell Yeah mainstay My Friend Dario's new album Senza Estate is going to define the sound of summer 2024. It's an eclectic eight-track collection that has something for everyone and is inspired by dreamy Italian soundtrack composers Piero Piccioni and Umiliani.

Curveball Italian talent Dario is a real dance floor don who collides acid, nu-disco, breakbeat and electro. His take on Balearic is unique and always sends dance floors wild, as proven with his last outing Food For Woofers Vol 2 earlier in the year. His new album is the sound of life by the Mediterranean, Balearic audio pleasure for daytime dreaming and nighttime dancing with vocal tracks written and performed by the UK's Space Echo Records associate Darene Obika.

Dario hails from Catania on the island of Sicily and his inspiration for Senza Estate, which translates as 'without summer,' was an imaginary holiday, weekends at the seaside, car journeys in the sun, relaxing sunsets and late-night dancing. 'For five years, I worked in a shop six days a week so despite living on a Mediterranean island I could never enjoy these things. Instead, I locked myself in the studio and jotted down the ideas, sensations, melodies and rhythms I had about another lost summer.'

'Keep On Cruising' is a downtempo opener with innocent synths that are filled with hope and promise for the warm months ahead. 'Zingarella' is a wide open sea view with wispy pads, seductive flutes and jazzy melodies that bristle with life and the tropical title cut gets more dancey on shuffling broken beats and radiant synth glows. There's a seductive laid-back cool to the tumbling keys of 'Marittimo' and 'What You Need' is a horizontal groove with loved-up vocals, 'Falò' pairs sensual acoustic guitar with work with pillowy drums and 'Il Pianeta Proibito' layers up sci-fi synths and stuttering bass into a bubbly sound that leads to cosmic take-off. 'Acid Panorama' is the melancholic closer which hints that the summer sun is setting one final time after weeks of carefree fun.

But the good news is, you can repeat the joys of My Friend Dario's masterful Senza Estate over and over again. More

I thought I would write this one myself.

Over the last few years, I found myself making music for everyone else. What would other musicians think about this record? Would this track get me more gigs? The process of creating become secondary and I fell out of love with it entirely.

This album is a journey to get back to the reason I started doing this in the first place, because I love making music. It is a return to embodying that most unfairly derided of phrases, the bedroom DJ, the bedroom artist. Where else is the love for this game stronger than in those early years, surrounded by your friends and the endless possibility of creation.

'Still Standing Here' kicks things off on the B-side and begin in March 2022 as vocalist Madeeha recorded an accapella vocal idea in a phone voice message, quietly singing into her phone to avoid waking the neighbours. She sent the idea to drum & bass producer from Bristol, DJ Mixjah, who then approached friend Sean McCabe with the idea. Together they produced a hypnotic afro-tinged soulful backing track to fit with the voice message, with an intention to re-record it in a studio environment. Sean and Mixjah soon realised that the music they had created blended perfectly with the sincerity, intimacy & rawness of Madeeha's heartfelt performance in the original voice message and decided to stick with it. A firm fave for Atjazz, Crackazat , DJ Spen & Emmaculate.

Wrapping things up is 'You Don’t Know', a slick & energetic dancefloor bubbler from London based producer/DJ ‘David Bailey’ and Canadian soulful songstress ‘MissFly’. Peter Thomas is widely acknowledged as Germany's most inventive film music composer of the 1960s and 1970, best known for his iconic soundtrack work. He scored over 600 films and episodes, from the crime blockbusters of Jerry Cotton and Edgar Wallace to indie arthouse films like Playgirl, Bruce Lee's The Big Boss and the extraterrestrial Space Patrol and Chariot of the Gods. dHis recordings for music libraries often provided an even more leftfield approach. Their visionary 'dope beats' appeal provoked a keen interest from vinyl aficionados, beatmakers and rare groove DJs alike. Unavailable for the public, the original "for professional usage only" albums are now sought-after collector's items that fetch astronomic prices on the 2ndhand market. This double 10" album is the definite selection of Thomas' best library cues from the Golden Ring Records, KPM and DeWolfe catalogues, many of them available publicly for the first time - plus four recently unearthed "lost" tracks from Warner Chappell's CPM Archive series that have never been released on vinyl before.
