Sähkömies is Jimi Tenor's solo debut from his NYC period in early 90's. Sähkömies (Electrician) is a mixture of great melodies embedded to Tenor's first ideas of his SunRa-flavoured jazz tableau. The album is combining Tenor's smokey sax with lo-fi electronics and experimentations with techno synths like Roland 303&606. More

Jimi Tenor - Love Is The Language
Jimi Tenor's new single on Philophon was created at the label's own Joy Sound Studios in Kumasi/Ghana. Here he encountered the lively music scene that the city, once the birthplace of highlife, has to offer.
With the title track My Mind, Jimi brings one of his classics from the 90s to new life. It goes without saying that he takes the highlife beat as his basis here.
With Love Is The Language he has created another hymn to the mystery of love, the exploration of which runs like a common thread through his now extensive work.
On both pieces he is accompanied by the ten-man Rubato Chorus. The result is two epic pieces that are consistent with Jimi's work. More

Info:
English:
Jimi Tenor has always been something of a Renaissance man. On leaving his Finnish homeland for New York in the early 1990s, and later as he travelled through Europe, he quickly discovered what he calls his ikigai, his great joy in life: to record and produce music in DIY mode at home with the most rudimentary of means, spontaneously and intuitively. In more than 30 years of making music, Tenor has remained true to his ideal, whether as a solo artist on his early electronic albums or in the widely diverse collaborations and constellations which followed (with the likes of Tony Allen, Kabu Kabu, Abdissa Assefa). “Multiversum” is now his third album for Hamburg-based label Bureau B.

More

Jimi Tenor can look back on a career spanning almost 30 years, in which time he has released more than 20 albums on such renowned labels as Warp Records, Sähkö and Kitty-Yo. Pop artist prestige holds no sway over the Finnish composer and multi-instrumentalist. Never resting on his laurels, he continues to hone his unique sound, which draws on elements of jazz, Afrobeats and experimental electronic music.
Bureau B are excited to announce the arrival of a new Jimi Tenor double album!

More

Jimi Tenor - Vocalize My Luv" (feat Florence Adooni & Lizzy Amaliyenga)
Variophon is Philophon's newly established sub-label. As the name suggests, Variophon is designed to release variations, or more commonly expressed, remixes of songs taken from the Philophon catalog. The beginning on Variophon makes the all around the world beloved Jimi Tenor by remixing himself.
Jimi has chosen one title each from his two albums released on Philohon. From his first, "Order of Nothingness", it is the gently dancing "Myteria" and from his recently released "Aulos" the driving "Vocalize My Luv" (featuring Florence Adooni and Lizzy Amaliyenga). He electrified both pieces in his own very personal, subtle way in order to achieve what he does best: make people happily dancing! More

Jimi Tenor featuring Impostor Orchestra LP, Exocosmos, is more than a decade´s worth of sessions emerging from a parallel cosmos. Sometimes the meetings take place in a living room, sometimes inside an electronic sequencer. Fields of rhythms have emerged through the hands of children playing sticks. The composer’s pen has been a conduit of the horizon where past and present choose their sides. The LP which is immediately intimate yet metamorphose into massive, the search for a magic moment has been profound. Tribulation and delight are equally true in Exocosmos.

With instrumentations by Tenor and beats procured from the vintage gear of Jori Hulkkonen in his Turku studio, Alppihouz by Willis, the album has a warm feeling and yet sufficiently exciting for the electronic house heads. Jimi Tenor and Nicole Willis´ sublime Herakles label returns with "Haunted by Hallucinations" , the new Bandproject from Petri Tokkannenm mastermind of the fabolous finish "Soul Investigators" group.
Guitarist Petri Toikkanen, who graces the liner notes of nearly all the Soul Investigators ("Home Cooking", "Keep Reachin' Up") releases, as one of the formidable composers of the musical group, makes the debut on this self titled new band´s album.
The group was founded by Toikkanen and drummer Laura Könönen as they composed their songs through hypnotic jam sessions, with bass player, Jussi Oskari. Jussi Oskari is best known for his contribution to the project, Tuvalu, a progressive rock ensemble.
The genre that sets the tone for Haunted by Hallucinations is the psychedelic cousin to that of post metal and post rock/doom. Toikkanen cites Pink Floyd, Venom, Uriah Heep, and Dio as his childhood staples. While direct influences are denied, Haunted By Hallucinations might sit well next to Earth and Goblin. That the phasers and flangers of stoner doom would be replaced with heavy doses of delay on Toikkanen's personal genre of neo - psychedelia. Toikkanen's playing has textures of surf, harking the legend of surf, Dick Dale, together with a prototype of Rock & Roll. Toikkanen's main instrument is a Fender Jazzmaster. Oskari also plays Moog Taurus bass pedal synthesizer. Laura Könönen is also a visual artist, whose main medium is sculpture, has supplied the LP cover artwork with one of her paintings and drawings.
The album is produced by Jimi Tenor & Nicole Willis.

The Helsinki Sanomat recently called Willis & the Soul Investigators "the world's best on the stage of Tavastia". The title track of Keep Reachin' Up was chosen in February 2012 for POTUS, Barack Obama's Re - Election Spotify Playlist. Tenor also contributed horn arrangements to the 2 albums in the collaborative effort of Willis & the Soul Investigators. Cola & Jimmu title it "deep house revival", drawing influences from Bobby Konders releases on NuGroove to Yellow Magic Orchestra's Firecracker, with vocal styles comparable to Gwen Guthrie & CeCe Peniston. That being said, the tracks are original and include some strong instrumentation, with Tenor's saxophone, flute, and serious drum programming.
