Acid Camp Records is rolling through again, this time with an artist known for his atmospheric and cosmic-oriented tracks, Natan H. Conveying inspiration for this record
— “Just a little nod to extrasensory experiences and perception” — is undoubtedly fitting for ACR’s second release. The opening track “Atmosphere” begins with layers of time signatures working in tandem. As the track pushes forward, the off-kilter drums grow towards a heavier climax. Followed up with a remix from techno serialist, Conforce. Through the use of filters, polyrhythms, and kinetic programming, Conforce lays a blueprint for driving techno. “Remote View Pt. I” is an ambient break, shifting gears to take listeners to a place both ethereal and planetary. The final track, “Remote View Pt. II”, again breaks away from traditional timing by tracing layers of hi-hats, delayed strings and synths that alternate throughout the arrangement in syncopation.

Aelfric Michael Avery has been a self-reliant artist for a long time. The Canadian producer has been exploring underground acid and rough, homemade techno since releasing his first material as Avery Monarch back in 1994. However it wasn’t until more than ten years later that his music would surface again on his own Napalm Enema label. Varied projects such as Electrokinesia and Crown Jewel have yielded scores of digital EPs and albums, while Napalm Enema has also carried work by the likes of FaltyDL, Paul Blackford and Mrs Jynx. Avery has released just as much music under his Acid Elf guise, most notably appearing alongside +10 Acid Crew (Jodey Kendrick) for the sought-after Bruvs Acid EP, and now the alias makes a welcome return to vinyl with four essential tracks from the archives. There’s a subdued, hypnotic and delirious quality to the productions on this EP for Arma, ranging from the uneasy delay pulses of “Fetus” to the metallic clamour of “Urban Wasteland”, but most importantly they’re all injected with a distinctive personality that stands apart from the 303-tweaking masses. This is undoubtedly acid music, but it crackles with an energy far removed from the same cookie-cutter Chicago knock-off formula that so many turn out these days. Talking about the creation of these tracks, Avery explained that they were recorded between 2009 and 2010 in Parksville, a town by the ocean on Vancouver Island. The equipment list used for the sessions includes many perennial favourites such as the 606, 707, 808, 909, Jupiter 6, 101, 303, MS-20 and a Dopefer modular, all run through an erratic RE-201 Space Echo for extra analogue crust. He also explained the inspiration for the “Ultrasound” recordings were the tumultuous experiences of his wife’s seizures during pregnancy, and the relief of both her and their son making it through such times unscathed. It’s an intimate perspective transmitting from a corner of electronic music that often feels quite impersonal, further demonstrating the individual appeal of Acid Elf, amongst Avery’s many other endeavours.

Info: Aus welcome back label favourite Shenoda for his third release on the label, 'Burn' backed with a remix from Juxta Position. Previous releases on Hypercolour & Electric Minds have seen Shenoda firmly on the ascent but it's in his recent outings on Aus that his bold, rugged club music has really reached its zenith. 'Burn' follows suit with its predecessors with its power being rooted in seismic, analogue drums that are balanced against soft, allaying melodies.

The muscular 'Vista' then rolls out punching stabs and tight, shuffling drums before label mate Marquis Hawkes dusts off his Juxta Position alias and delivers a pacey and forthright take on 'Burn'. Melodies are softly mangled and given a spectral quality that recalls his 'Mazury' on DVS1's Mistress wrapping another solid addition to the catalogue as the Aus Music family continue to deliver the goods.

This is a very personal record. I tried to channel the emotions and spontaneity I had when I first started making music. It's not about nostalgia, it's about the freshness and directness - call it naivety - you lose when you start becoming a professional musician. I moved to New York almost 5 years ago. These past few years have been a weird combination of excitement and quite challenging events. I've learnt what it means to be exiled, in every sense. This album is about that, being far away from "home" and from yourself and finding your way back. The album is built like an unknown city, you walk through it, making random turns, getting lost, some corners may bring back memories, you're getting away from something and at the same time you're on a quest. Hence the importance of listening to it in it's entirety (yes, I'm a utopian).

It will be the only physical release, very limited. No CD edition.

A relentless vinyl collector and a fervent connoisseur of Anglo-American culture, the founding painter of the Figuration Libre movement (with Di Rosa, Blanchart and Boisrond) in the early 80’s, Robert Combas has always connected his art with rock music. The two are always intertwined and fuel his inspiration. During his exhibition Sans Filet, Robert Combas made an essential encounter: the artist and video maker Lucas Mancione, also from the town of Sete, and decided to make the leap. Together, at the start of the decade, they created the band Les Sans Pattes.
Notre Renaissance is a dazzling discharge, a geyser of cold and searing emotions, a conscious search for a unique and extreme experience. The tension in each track is palpable, as constant as it is pregnant. This band is full of character. Sometimes electronic, often a bit punk, always particularly rock’n’roll. Raw and physical tracks, compact and heady.
Les Sans Pattes always lean towards psychedelics and repetition.

An innate facet of the human condition is the very personal way we choose to process our own fatality.
Faced with dealing with the feelings of anxiety, death and fear after nearly drowning whilst diving in the
South Atlantic in his youth, Ricardo Donoso chose to channel them into his creative process. The result
was Scuba Death, a project that was fully realised on Donoso’s widely acclaimed 2014 Further debut,
Nitrogen Narcosis. After spending time devoted to establishing his Kathexis label as well as delivering a
trilogy of albums under his given name for the Denovali label, Donoso returns to Further with a second
Scuba Death offering, The Worm At The Core.
The 36 minutes of The Worm At The Core expand on the creeping conceptual thrust of that Scuba Death
debut, the title referencing the work of late 19th Century American philosopher William James. In his
1902 book, The Varieties of Religious Experience: A Study in Human Nature, James described the
knowledge we all must die as "the worm at the core" of the human condition, further adding that this
universally-shared fear informs all our urges, be it creative or destructive.
New Release Information
Donoso continues to funnel this innate fear for positive, creative means on The Worm At The Core,
which presents an important element of continuity from his previous journey to the depths as Scuba
Death. The melodic strains that signalled the end of Nitrogen Narcosis on ten minute closer “Rapture Of
The Deep” resurface to shape the opening movements of The Worm At The Core on “Paradox Of
Finitude”. There are however subtle shifts present here, Donoso opting to look to land rather than water
for sonic inspiration with the six tracks based around location recordings of thunderstorms.
These field recordings still play an integral role in the Scuba Death panorama along with Donoso’s deft
craft of analogue equipment and sampling, whilst Rafa Selway’s expert cello play is heavily
incorporporated throughout The Worm At The Core, further adding to the album’s inherent organic
qualities. The results are another evocative slow, ebbing pulse of an album encompassing the low BPM
dub techno swell of “Cracks In The Shield” and “A Panic Rumbling Beneath” and richly textured
soundscapes rife with haunting emotion such as “Mortality Salience.”

Evolving around the Diviat Slon parties (residents: StefaK & Stefan Goldmann), the Beton nights, the indoors offspins of Artmospheric festival and unannounced appearances of KiNK under his Cyrillic guise, raw and rave-infused techno is increasingly defining the city's sound of the small hours.
Roboknob are part of this movement, and this is their debut EP. A live hardware duo, Yasen and Stanislav drop rugged, noisy machine jams around the Bulgarian capital and have been regulars at Artmospheric. The EP's tracks have been distilled from their live repertoire and mixed by Stefan Goldmann into sharply defined form with added bite. 'Dexydi' is Greek for acid - the corrosive liquid, not the music. Accordingly, its heavy-handed single-note bass attack will cut through anything. 'Spellbind' is more bouncy with frantic upward movements, distorted percussive fallout and a seasick bass foundation. 'Liulka' handles two layers of time rubbing off of each other: quirky and pushing high in the sky, against the bass drum mechanics down low. A suitable acoustic symbol for Sofia's state of techno.

While unveiling the ‘Mutant Tournament’ Quartet last year, label boss Nachtbraker was quietly hunting for new music behind the scenes. Being the fine huntsman he is, he came out of the woods with sonic bits and bobs so
delectable he had no choice but to spread them out over two brand new quartets. That’s right, eight records in total, to be released over the course of the next 18 months.
We’re delighted to introduce you to Scott Franka, who’s at the helm of the first missive. This creative head from Amsterdam has been making music since the tender age of 11, but it wasn’t until he adopted his Scott Franka moniker that he really found his groove. His music encompasses influences from dub and dark techno to classic drumpcomputer and synth-heavy house. Franka’s style takes cues from Detroit, Chicago and the UK, and yet is also very personal and forward thinking at the same time. ’The Gym’ might be his solo debut, but a smattering of releases from the man is on the horizon.
The best way to introduce you to Scott Franka’s musicality is “The Gym” on A1. Starting of with sweet, melancholic chords and 808 hats Scott turns your world upside down after the first break. Try to keep your head steady, and get that dirty look of your face.. doesn’t work right? It’s just too good. “Toenail” is up next, and its undeniable groove and incredible amalgamation of synths and strings make for an absolute early hours melter.
Flip over for ‘Sorry’ to hear Franka knock it out of the ballpark with its heavy breakbeat and UK-style bass.
Finally, there’s ‘Street’, a mesmerising groover, rounding things off nicely. The release doesn’t only mark its first artist EP, it also marks a new look for the label. Building on the muscular,pheromone-rich theme of the first Quartet, Elsemarijn Bruys developed a fresh concept for both new Quartets
with a little help from Scott Franka, who is involved in numerous art projects in Amsterdam. And in case you’rewondering: yes, that’s an actual picture of a bodybuilder, painted from head to toe. Don’t ask us how, just marvel.

Oxia's classic 'Domino' gets reworked for it's ten year anniversary - in 2 vinyl parts.

A decade after initially seeing the light, Oxia's now classic 'Domino' get's reworked to celebrate it's anniversary. The new release features a new cut by Oxia himself as well as several remixes by none other than Frankey & Sandrino, Robag Wruhme and Matador. The EP will be released through Agoria's newly found record label Sapiens on February 24th.

Ten years ago the track made waves in the international dance music circuit, striking up chords with techno, trance and house DJs alike to quickly become an all-time classic. Having never expected the track to reach the status that it his, it's a very dear project to Oxia and he needed quite some persuading to give in and let Agoria and his team create something that was worthy of the original. The set of tracks are the first officially commissioned remixes by Oxia ever.

Catz ‘N Dogz continue to roll out their PETS sub label STEP Recordings and follow up a slew of soulheavy
dance records from Baltra, Reno Wurzbacher and The Analog Roland Orchestra with a solo EP
from fellow Polish producer Universo. With previous appearances on Transatlantyk, the auspicious
newcomer slots neatly into the STEP catalogue in presenting his ‘Underworld’ EP: a package of softly
glowing lo-fi that fans of Baltra’s recent ‘Sophia’ EP on STEP will relish.
Underworld then unfolds at a steady, hypnotic pace as moody, interlocking chords and paired up with
a gentle spoken vocal that work together to create a poignant, eyes-down mood. Icy strings and a
trippy spoken are introduced before ‘Kora Buta’ follows up with some warm, swooning sample work.
‘Sleeper’ is next up as distant, meandering thumb pianos and rainy textures colour the tracks fuzzy
drums while a glassy, Legowelt-esque pad glides overhead.‘Frequenza’ kicks things off a soft, sizzling
pad sent ducking under a rock-hard kick drum.

Considered a Holy Grail of Japanese music by many, "Through The Looking Glass" is Midori Takada's first solo endeavor, a captivating four-song suite capturing her deep quests into traditional African and Asian percussive language and exploring contemplative ambient sounds with an admirably precise use of marimba. The result is alternatively ethereal and vibrant, always precise and mesmerizing, and makes for an atmospheric masterpiece and an unparalleled sonic and spiritual experience.

The fully licensed reissue is available as a single 33rpm LP and a limited 45rpm DLP, both cut directly from the original studio reels (AAA), at Emil Berliner (formerly the in-house recording department of renowned classical record label Deutsche Grammophon) for the 45rpm DLP, and at the equally famous Frankfurter SST Studio for the LP. Midori released two solo albums: "Through The Looking Glass" and "Tree Of Life" and wrote music for Tadashi Suzuki's theater plays. Her hypnotic, minimalist music is based in the concept of coherence between sound and the human body. She performs solo on marimba and other percussion instruments.

She debuted on the scene of Berlin Philharmonic, performing with the RIAS Symphonie-Orchester Berlin just after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1974. She continued her career with solo concerts in Japan and abroad.

In the 1980s Midori began to explore the traditional music of Asia and Africa. Her fascination resulted in joint projects with Kakraba Lobi from Ghana, Lamine Konte from Senegal, Farafina Band from Burkina Faso, and Korean musicians: zither player Chi Seong-Ja, flute player Won-Il, and saxophone player Kang Tae-Hwan. She also led Mkwaju Ensemble's innovative percussion project and still performs with free-jazz band Ton-Klami with Kang Tae-Hwan and jazz pianist Masahiko Satoh.

In the past 20 years, Midori Takada spent more time in theaters than in concert halls - composing and performing live music for theater. She regularly works with Tadashi Suzuki and his Suzuki Company of Toga on their adaptations of "Electra" and "King Lear".

Takada's compositions have a remarkable way of affecting the imagination. Her minimalist, contemplative music is filled with the concept of infinity and reminds us of a moon voyage, falling stars, a journey into the ocean, or a walk in the garden.
