Continuing to fly the flag for worldwide soulful dance-floor sounds, Jitwam’s globe-hopping label The Jazz Diaries unveil their latest signing, Detroit-based veteran producer Brian 'Javonntte' Garrett. Supplying body moving frequencies since the late nineties, Javonntte began playing piano at age 15 and honed his craft on tour with Aretha Franklin. A collaborator of Amp Fiddler and Luke Solomon, he has previously released on labels such as Eglo Records, Lumberjacks In Hell, Traxx Underground, Defected and Waella’s Choice. His debut on The Jazz Diaries see’s Garrett turn in five hazy, funk-drenched, party-moving jams. From the crunchy midi fanfare of the record’s opener “Reggietune”, through to the blissed-out sweeping synths of “Outerbound”, the EP packs a punch, keeping it’s rock solid, groove-laden sensibilities throughout. Javonntte even throws in a jacked up, Detroit-style reinterpretation of Christopher Cross’s classic track “Ride Link The Wind” (the EP’s first single, due for release April 9th). Waella’s Choice return with their fifth release, made in Detroit, remixed in Melbourne and London.
Adding to a growing stable of leading house artists who have already released on the London label, Detroit singer, producer (and dancer) Javonntte presents Drumma EP, traversing the deep and soulful spectrum with two original productions.
The title track has the same instant magnetism as Hanna’s ‘Stranger’, which helped inaugurate Waella’s Choice in 2017. ‘Jazzpianodance’ takes a more broken approach, incorporating Javonntte’s love for jazz fusion. Something that would have felt right at home in the old Co-Op dances at plastic people.
The B-side presents remixes from two young producers with a bright future. Melbourne-raised and now London-based, Crown Ruler member Winters follows up his 2018 debut for Parallel People with a low-slung RnB version. Touching Bass family Romaal Kultan ups the tempo with a weightier sucker-punch of breaks and broken percussion, primed for peak time impact.

Burek family welcomes Detroit house don Javonntte into their circle with four infectious house bangers spread across the whole spectrum of the genre. This record has something for each part of the night, from the easy mood setting vibes to soulful bangers and straight up jacking peak time tracks that will make you sweat.
Tomorrow’, the opening cut, is the best example of the latter and the track’s vocal sample “strictly underground” is well earned. This pure head-bang house track will give you a run for your money. A side is concluded with ‘Journey’, a proper soulful house track which keeps all of its energy in spite of a slightly more subtle approach.
‘No One Like You’ is the first one on the flip and is a prime example of just how much soul and depth can a house banger have and Javonntte excels here both as a producer and a vocalist. Closing track ‘Enter The Disco’ is a slower, disco-sampled jam, perfect for that in-between time in the club when the action’s about to happen.

NDATL continues with the return of Kayenne, Rain Fall Down originally produced by Chris Brann is the first single from Kayenne's forthcoming full length, produced by various Atlanta based producers, Kai Alce, Stefan Ringer, DJ Kemit, Salah Ananse & Chris Brann. This first offering bring forth Kayenne's sweet melody over atmospheric rhythms & pads over driving drums brought together on Anthony Nicholson's rewerk. Next an unexpected late night groover from Plastik Recordings, Marc Cotterell where his deep chords transport you deep into the dancefloor.

This last mix comes from Groove Victim aka Jay Brown (whom we unfortunately lost late 2021) simple but elegantly effective very reminiscent of the early 90' MAW dubs! Once again NDATL blazes forward!

"Here for It" starts of with the Original Househeads mix feat the lush vocals of Terrance Downs snappy drums & light guitar swing that immediately catches the listener. Then KemeticJust takes us into a chord laiden deep tech remix, which hypnotizing and soothing at the same time. The B Side see the Deeper Tech Rub which take us into territory unknown, sparse piano and vocals surrounded by an entangling bassline to take any dancefloor into the stratosphere! There's a reason Kai Alce's name consistently comes up when the topic is exceptional house music. The NDATL label boss's remix of the Dangerfeel Newbies' "What Am I Here For" takes the soulful number to heights beyond the original's already heady groove. J'Piccola sings with a perspective that's like bopping through the city, skyscrapers above giving dimension to the groundwork so necessary for love and progression. His vocals match the pace of propelling keyboards by Chris Irvin and DelvynW. Saxophone by Quinn Mason adds an element that in Alce's Distinctive hands becomes a part of all things classic house: deep, melodic, and ultimately, free. That's particularly true of the KZR's Late Night Mix. It harkens the wee hours with a shuffle, leading keys and pinpoint bass. The Piano Instrumental puts keys front and center, with a few jazzy chords that recall the hippest, dopest brunch you've ever attended. The entire project is very much Atlanta-grown, representing its strong, interconnected music and art scene. All the key contributors are based in the city, from Alce and the Dangerfeel Newbies, to acclaimed visual artist Radcliffe Bailey, who created the album art, and tastemaking graphic artist Steve DeNiro, who designed the album layout. After small promo run in Japan the gem gets a full worldwide release with alternate mixes and Kai Alcés bonus DISTINCTIVE remix of "Swingin With The New Jack" previously unavailable. More
