Ovum's 20th birthday celebrations continue with the return of Nico Lahs"!
It has been three years since Nico Lahs debuted on Ovum Recordings with his "Clouded Visions" EP. Nico has displayed a talent for creating beautiful deep soundscapes. In his return to Ovum for his third release, we see a matured Nico, but there is a rawness that remains that make his tracks so special. He has kept busy when not releasing on Ovum with releases on Pokerflat, 8 Bit, and Last Night On Earth. The A side track "Tension" shows a heavier side of Nico's music. The track though driving still keeps an element of deepness. This is a great journey track that makes you want to close your eyes and get lost in the groove. For the B side, Nico delivers the title track "Absence". This is classic Nico as he dives more into his deeper side. The track twists and turns taking you on a beautiful ride. Two incredible soundscapes from Nico and we are glad to have him return to the roster!

Two accomplished house mainstays come together on Get Physical Music as James Curd joins forces with the legendary Osunlade for superb new single 'Chocolate Puddin'' while FNX Omar and Kai Alcé step up with their own remixes.

Curd came up as a DJ in Chicago and has gone on to become a mainstay of the scene. He is also credited with inventing G-Swing, a house sound infused with swing. He has run various labels over the years while releasing on some of the world's finest imprints and serving up his magical sets everywhere from fabric in London to The Avalon in Los Angeles and The Arches in Glasgow. American Osunlade meanwhile has deep spiritual roots in Yoruba traditions that are also reflected in the name of his record label. He makes music with a rare spirituality as proven once again here.

The superb 'Chocolate Puddin'' is silky smooth deep and Afro-tinged house with gorgeous percussive melodies and soft shakers. It's full of soul and warmth with meaningful leads that bring plenty of uplifting emotions next to a bluesy vocal.

Atlanta's house mainstay and a long-time underground favourite Kai Alcé then remixes. His version is more pacey but no less deep - the jazzy chords are seductively draped over the cuddly deep drums and the vocal has a more soulful edge. Osunlade also offers his own Yoruba Soul mix which is a hi-tek sound with futuristic synth chords and uplifting house drums. Last to remix is Moroccan mainstay and label regular FNX Omar. He flips the track into something that is richly layered with percussion and nimble bass, organic hand claps and hypnotic drum lines that all sink you in deep.

This package is as delicious as its name suggests.

Many of you will remember Manuel Göttsching by his Masterpiece "E2-E4? and know the fact it got sampled by far more than once. Think "Sueno Latino" to start with… and the plethora of further re-recordings by Derrick May, Joe Claussell, and a bootleg by Carl Craig that prove how "Now" and Iconic Manuel´s Work is. The 2006 edition "Joaquin Joe Claussell meets Manuel Göttsching" is the first attempt to bring these once illegal mixes finally to a broader and wider audience. It comes with 2 very rare and first time officially released tribute mixes of 1970´s Göttsching Classics, carefully remodeled by Joe Claussell (21.12 minute "Deeper Distance" plus 10.17 Minute "Ain´t No Time For Tears"). The last words, however, are left to MG himself, with "Shuttlecock", a final eighteen minute excursion, which has Manuel improvise over a soft carpet of delayed bell sounds, before the guitar fades away and the track deepens and thickens, like a dark river sweeping along ever more motives and harmonies. A perfectly balanced collaboration released on both CD and LP.
Consisting of 3 concert recordings which were originally released on the 6th CD Album Private Tapes : Tracks 1 und 3 were recorded at Bataclan in Paris, 12/1976, Track 2 in Berlin 8/1979
