Kick starting the new year, Cinematic’s latest release comes from label debutant Reggie Dokes in the form of “Child of The Sun EP”. An inspired artist hailing from Detroit, Reggie spoils us with three funk fuelled cuts via the motor city! An inspired artist through his association with Derrick May and Transmat, Reggie is one of the unsung heroes from Detroit who’s sole purpose has always been to concentrate on the music. His Psychotasia record label has been an outlet for releasing his signature sound of soul inspired deep house and techno that has gained him plaudits all over Europe. Recent guest appearances have seen Reggie release on esteemed labels such as Royal Oak, Kuumba and We Play House. The first track “Child of the sun” is a slow Techno burner fuelled with funk and electronic rhythms that builds, envoking vibrancy and colour before the bassline sets the tone in pummelling throughout the track. The second track aptly titled “Funk Below” further signifies Reggies versatility this time with a deeper mindset giving us the feeling of intimate night spots that are smoke filled with llow ceilings. Think browns and deep reds when listening to this and funk below that radar. Make Believe compliments the release thats a little leftfield but not to be ignored. Synth laden and downtempo, the hi hats whip away providing energy climaxing with clever arrangement of strings before the whole thing gets stripped down for a more heads down moment.

The NDATL label boss's remix of the Dangerfeel Newbies' "What Am I Here For" takes the soulful number to heights beyond the original's already heady groove. J'Piccola sings with a perspective that's like bopping through the city, skyscrapers above giving dimension to the groundwork so necessary for love and progression. His vocals match the pace of propelling keyboards by Chris Irvin and DelvynW. Saxophone by Quinn Mason adds an element that in Alce's Distinctive hands becomes a part of all things classic house: deep, melodic, and ultimately, free. That's particularly true of the KZR's Late Night Mix. It harkens the wee hours with a shuffle, leading keys and pinpoint bass. The Piano Instrumental puts keys front and center, with a few jazzy chords that recall the hippest, dopest brunch you've ever attended. The entire project is very much Atlanta-grown, representing its strong, interconnected music and art scene. The concept was born from Nastia’s personal experience as a globally touring DJ, identifying a distinct gap in the modern market: a scarcity of sophisticated, atmospheric tracks specifically designed to set the tone during the first minutes of a performance.
This compilation is more than just a collection of tracks; it is a professional toolkit. From deep hypnotism to restrained energy, each contribution has been meticulously selected for its ability to prepare the space and the audience for the journey ahead.
Conceived as a functional extension of the DJ set, the Intro / Outro series explores the moments that frame the dancefloor experience. Some tracks don’t need fixing. They just need a bit more room. South African composer and keyboard wizard Don Laka has been quietly sitting in DJ bags for years, especially with people who like their synth music warm, slightly
mysterious, and impossible to date properly. Somewhere between jazz funk, township pulse and studio electronics, but really just its own thing.
Stages was an obvious candidate for extension. Prins Thomas what he does best here: opens the arrangement, lets the synth lines breathe, stretches the groove until it starts floating a little higher off the ground. Nothing forced, nothing added for
the sake of it. Just more of a very good thing. I Wanna Be Myself gets a gentle nudge from Gerd Janson. The idea was simple: keep the personality, and give DJs a version that lands naturally in a modern set without losing the original charm. It’s still the same track, just standing a bit straighter.
And because the source matters, the original version of “Stages” is here as well. Always good to remember where the magic started. Three versions, no drama. Just strong music that already knew what it was doing.

Ataxia return to Planet E with two club-optimized cuts that capture their rolling, characterful approach to the authentic roots of Detroit’s electronic culture. Marking the duo’s return to Planet E following 2020’s Oblivion EP and their 2023 remix of From Beyond by Carl Craig’s Psyche alias, both of these fresh tracks deliver energy tapped from a fundamental understanding of house and techno, equally charged with their punk and DIY background.
Immediately establishing a deep, hypnotic beat, ‘The Whistles’ expands into a collage of unruly samples that tour the club, the street and the true characters between. Playfully hinting at the tension between Detroit’s party people and those who would like the music turned down, the track is a steamrolling club cut that finds Ataxia going wild with their most psychedelic studio trickery.
‘Hocus On Pocus’ is a tightly wound, punchy tripped up wormhole of analogue FX and rubbery basslines, adding layers of pressure and surprising sonic twists. The result is an offbeat banger in the spirit of Planet E’s wildest moments; primed for the dancefloor but with personality to spare.

this new edition delivers his unmistakable blend of house pressure and pure techno, featuring two brand new gems: “Hypercuatro” and “Locked In A Trance.” Both are wired for late hours and low ceilings, where acid grooves meet hypnotic drum programming and forward leaning intent.

COEO are back on Toy Tonics! After uninterrupted touring around the globe, followed by a short creative break the guys come back with an even stronger sound. With the new EP they go more underground again. Its addressed to the clubs and night owls out there, who turn night into day and won't stop dancing!
The sound is based on classic house patterns and includes a lot of cool saxophones, big piano stabs & rhythmic piano solos. They even go tribal, use arpeggios and switch into breakbeat heaven. The four Originals are a great next step in the COEO evolution. The unique warm, catchy atmosphere of the tracks can create that special COEO euphoria which made them a lot of fans. From Moodymann to Disclosure, Mall Grab to Kenny Dope, the list is long.
It’s fantastic to see how popular they became over the last couple of years. The last COEO vinyl sold over 2500 copies and some of their tracks have millions of Spotify plays. It’s DJ FOOD. Pure bliss!

Black magic, what is that supposed to be? A spell that seeks to do harm to others? Usually yes, however Taron-Trekka are animated by the best intentions, rather aim for the magic of the night and as always want to merely destroy the dancefloors of this world in a symbolic way. In fact, nobody has comes to grief with the four tracks of their "Black Magic EP" (the last part of their "Magic" triology) - nevertheless, they possess a certain magic.
However, Taron-Trekka don't make jumbo jets disappear, they don't walk through the Chinese wall or initiate other cocky tricks à la Copperfield. They are more like thimbleriggers. Or card jugglers. You know, those guys who surprise you when you least reckon with it. Those who have already outsmarted your mind when you were still thinking that it was just about to really begin.
Taron-Trekka have the groove and cast a net of loops, which magically creates a tremendous energy. Loops with which the smallest shift can open up worlds. Worlds, which admittedly appear accessible, but are hardly decipherable. This way, tools become magical tracks. Furthermore, house becomes a music, which brands itself to the last corners of a soul. Just like the trick that you haven't understood until today.
A1 Black Magic
Taron-Trekka's ride through the night starts funky and dry with the title track of the EP. The effects bleep here and fade away there, however over distance a magical pull develops. A pull that can only be escaped from with great difficulty.
A2 Monofile
Regarding "Monofile", Taron-Trekka conjures a groove as selfwilled as enchanting by initially making vocals and keys appear on a dead straight beat and then letting this very same one stumble over itself. At the right moment it engenders at least as much "Ohs" as "Ahs" in a club, you bet.
B1 Red
From black to red, from night until morning. For exactly this moment "Red" was made, which brings every last person to the next afterhour with its swing and depth.
B2 Distance
Entirely against its own title, "Distance" may indeed affect one deeply. Namely then, when one wants to delve into funk as subtle as extensive. That is Jan Jelinek at a gallop or SND with more punch. Both are fantastic
