Hawaii-born, San Francisco-seasoned, and NYC-based musician, DJ and vocalist Kim Ann Foxman returns with a warm and emotional EP ‘We Are Rhythm’ on her SELF:TIMER label that she runs alongside DC rave veteran Andrew Potter. The EP also includes a remix by Irish progressive house/trance master Spray. This release is the first of the many exciting releases on SELF:TIMER this year including the debut album of her band project Pleasure Planet.

Foxman explains: “We Are Rhythm was inspired by my latest DJ gigs where I found complete synergy with the dance floor. It’s magic whenever this happens, and I really wanted to make a dance EP that captured this feeling somehow with catchy vocals and prime time energy. I’m really thrilled to have Spray on this release! His remix of We Are Rhythm is fire!”

NTS mainstay Kasra V joins Firehouse Records with a sublime 6 track EP. Featuring a remix from Mike Servito and Justin Cudmore, and a collaboration with Dopplereffekt’s ?Rudolf Klorzeiger and To Nhan?.

A common thread weaves through Kasra’s thoughtful ?Akasa ?EP, each track adding an extra element to the journey. ?The EP ?opens up with the collaboration with Motor City group Dopplereffekt. ?Atropa Belladonna i?s a beatless beauty that flows effortlessly into the breakbeat rhythm of ?Bloom. Akasa ?follows with its dreamy synths. On the flipside ?Otaku delves delicately into IDM territory and ?Inferno ?finishes off the EP with its techno leanings, glitchy bleeps and blips that spill into lilting synths. ?Servito and ?Cudmore provide their own take on ?Bloom, s?tripping it back and creating an intergalactic track with a deeper bassline.
Iranian-born London-based producer Kasra V has been steadily rising through the ranks. His show on London station NTS and his DJ sets showcase his broad musical taste and his ability to seamlessly blend genres- from old school beats to middle-eastern grooves to acid and trance and beyond. Mix 1 and Mix 2 sound as glorious now as they did when they were released. Mix 1, a bold, breakbeat construct, chopped vocal and emerging acid lines. Mix 2 places four to the floor. It’s deeper with added percussion, soft chord stabs and an almighty breakdown to the drop. Deetron makes his debut on Firehouse with a tough, grinding version, underpinned by his signature, gnarling bassline sound. Kim Ann Foxman incorporates acid lines to her revision. After dropping his “Can’t Remember”/”Talking To You” EP, his debut solo release for DFA, last summer, Austrian musician and producer Wolfram Eckert returns with a stellar four-tracker for Kim Ann Foxman's Firehouse imprint. His new offering, a track called “United 707”, finds Wolfram in fine form, delivering an infectious jam that makes us want to jump in his ’80s VW Scirocco for a late-night ride around New York. The first signing to Kim Ann Foxman’s trailblazing Firehouse imprint is a dancefloor-shredding hi-energy house track that’s been going down a storm at clubs from Ibiza to San Francisco this summer, created by Sankey’s resident DJ Josef K and producer Winter Son aka Thomas Ragsdale featuring singer Flora Cruz. Says Kim Ann Foxman: “Tribal Rhythm is fire! It's a fresh new track with a classic feel done right. It's got lots of energy, a sassy vox; it’s super catchy and a dance floor bomb! I’ve been playing it out non-stop, and it always creates a huge reaction on the dance floor. Hands go up in the air - the crowd goes wild. It’s a winner!” Says Josef K + Winter Son: “We really to make something hypnotic and starting making the piano swirl around, locking it in with the percussion. It was all done in pretty much one take and we just went with the track's momentum.
