Kim Ann Foxman - We Are Rhythm (Spray Remix)
Hawaii-born, San Francisco-seasoned, and NYC-based musician, DJ and vocalist Kim Ann Foxman returns with a warm and emotional EP ‘We Are Rhythm’ on her SELF:TIMER label that she runs alongside DC rave veteran Andrew Potter. The EP also includes a remix by Irish progressive house/trance master Spray. This release is the first of the many exciting releases on SELF:TIMER this year including the debut album of her band project Pleasure Planet.
Foxman explains: “We Are Rhythm was inspired by my latest DJ gigs where I found complete synergy with the dance floor. It’s magic whenever this happens, and I really wanted to make a dance EP that captured this feeling somehow with catchy vocals and prime time energy. I’m really thrilled to have Spray on this release! His remix of We Are Rhythm is fire!”

Kim Ann Foxman - Magic Magic (Matisa remix)
Kim Ann Foxman’s NYC label is back with two sizzling originals and two scorching on-point remixes.
‘Connection’ bumps with rave echoes and warehouse memories. Cavernous in its scope and emotional pull, the heady waves of nostalgia and unabashed futurism whip and wallop as Kim’s ethereal cries counter the analogue grit. It’s complemented by precision remix twist from Klasse act Luca Lozano who breaks up the drums and adds a little Tesor-like touches to the synths to create another timeless perspective.
Deeper again we hit ‘Magic Magic’, Bathed in dark bass bubbles, shimming chimes and dubby reflections. It’s 3am, you’re completely immersed and you never want it to stop. Luckily it doesn’t have to as Matisa hurls us deep into a version excursion that conjures memories of the classic Age Of Love.
Connected through spirit, sounds and just the right amount of magic. Firehouse is back! More

Set the timer & get into position, Kim Ann Foxman returns to her Firehouse imprint SELF:TIMER with a solo EP, following up the extraterrestrial trip that was Pleasure Planet’s debut last year. This time she takes the lead with ‘My Dog Has Fleas’. Don’t reach for the vet hotline quite yet; it’s actually based on a ukulele tuning technique popular in her Hawaiian stomping ground, but you’d never tell... A juicy, slinky, 80s-informed jam, it carries all the hallmarks we’ve long since come to expect from Foxman. As is the Pleasure Planet remix by herself and longstanding friends Andrew Potter and Brian Hersey as they bring on their atomic energy with fresh vocal samples, guitar, and cosmic flare you’d expect from such a hedonistic NYC gang. Deeper into the shoot we strut: ‘Shake The Bones’ is the dog-walking equivalent of a run on an unfettered, unpeopled, unlimited coastline. The elements. The energy. The space and fresh air; this doesn’t just shake your bones, it’ll shake your whole soul. As for Marc Piñol and Hugo Capablanca’s acid-wrenched C.P.I rework... It’s a mix so fiery it sent their studio into meltdown and their Roland Space Echo literally went up in flames! (True Story!)

The mood suddenly becomes much tougher during ‘ Magic Window ’ ? wrapping up the latest offering from New York’s finest lady of electronic music. Kim Ann Foxman’s ‘C?reature’?was the introduction to her solo career. Now getting a rerelease and rework for her unstoppable Firehouse imprint, complete with fiery remixes from a/jus/ted, Nick Simoncino and Richy Ahmed. Originally released on Andy Butler’s Mr International, Foxman’s liquid gold vocals on ‘?Creature’ w?ere her first endeavour since their time together in Hercules & Love Affair and a beautiful example of her adept technique to craft unique, synthinspired dance music. Undeniably her most recognised record, championed on Radio 1 and the like, it was never given the attention it deserved, leading to this special reinvention for her new label. “Creature is a jam that I hold very close to my heart,’ e?xplains Kim,”?so I'm really excited to be releasing it, along with brand new remixes, on my own label Firehouse. It’s never been available on wax vinyl before so I'm really excited that I’ll finally be able to have it in my hands.”? Kim’s own remix brings the track in line with her current style, the retro edges polished to a smoother finish and her vocals drifting away in whispering licks.?a?/jus/ted i?s a fellow New York outfit, his versions grounded in high energy and acid heat, while Italian?Nick Simoncino’?s two versions are charred with nostalgia, elevating the classic house and techno and highlighting the track’s simplicity. Finally Hot Creations figure Richy Ahmed’?s version decelerates the tempo and cracks and sizzles with finesse, giving this untamed ‘Creature’?many new leases of life.

NTS mainstay Kasra V joins Firehouse Records with a sublime 6 track EP. Featuring a remix from Mike Servito and Justin Cudmore, and a collaboration with Dopplereffekt’s ?Rudolf Klorzeiger and To Nhan?.
“I’ve always admired Dopplereffekt's work, which is monumental to techno, so to have them on board for a collaboration is immense. I like to think of this EP as new millennium post proto trance/IDM.”-? ?Kasra V
A common thread weaves through Kasra’s thoughtful ?Akasa ?EP, each track adding an extra element to the journey. ?The EP ?opens up with the collaboration with Motor City group Dopplereffekt. ?Atropa Belladonna i?s a beatless beauty that flows effortlessly into the breakbeat rhythm of ?Bloom. Akasa ?follows with its dreamy synths. On the flipside ?Otaku delves delicately into IDM territory and ?Inferno ?finishes off the EP with its techno leanings, glitchy bleeps and blips that spill into lilting synths. ?Servito and ?Cudmore provide their own take on ?Bloom, s?tripping it back and creating an intergalactic track with a deeper bassline.
Iranian-born London-based producer Kasra V has been steadily rising through the ranks. His show on London station NTS and his DJ sets showcase his broad musical taste and his ability to seamlessly blend genres- from old school beats to middle-eastern grooves to acid and trance and beyond. His productions are equally diverse, releasing on Make Love In Public Spaces and Feelings.

Kim Ann Foxman’s Firehouse imprint storms into 2018 with an extra special re-release of the 1994 rave classic Scott Richmond and John Selway aka Psychedlic Research Lab, Keep On Climbin’ .The package features both original mixes alongside two outstanding remixes from Deetron and Kim Ann Foxman. Mix 1 and Mix 2 sound as glorious now as they did when they were released. Mix 1, a bold, breakbeat construct, chopped vocal and emerging acid lines. Mix 2 places four to the floor. It’s deeper with added percussion, soft chord stabs and an almighty breakdown to the drop. Deetron makes his debut on Firehouse with a tough, grinding version, underpinned by his signature, gnarling bassline sound. Kim Ann Foxman incorporates acid lines to her revision. It builds intensely from start to finish, using Angela Johnson’s iconic vocal loop to perfection.

Richard Sen's sound has always been influenced by black dance music and European electronic music and these two tracks carry on the vibe - dark, electronic funk! 'Flow Master" is inspired by old school New York house combined with European industrial body music. Sen calls it 'muscle house'. 'Bad Meaning Good' is a lighter, deep groove that takes inspiration from African percussion artists like Kongotronics.

josef k & winter son ft. flora cruz - "Tribal Rhythm" (Kim Ann Foxman remix)
The first signing to Kim Ann Foxman’s trailblazing Firehouse imprint is a dancefloor-shredding hi-energy house track that’s been going down a storm at clubs from Ibiza to San Francisco this summer, created by Sankey’s resident DJ Josef K and producer Winter Son aka Thomas Ragsdale featuring singer Flora Cruz. Says Kim Ann Foxman: “Tribal Rhythm is fire! It's a fresh new track with a classic feel done right. It's got lots of energy, a sassy vox; it’s super catchy and a dance floor bomb! I’ve been playing it out non-stop, and it always creates a huge reaction on the dance floor. Hands go up in the air - the crowd goes wild. It’s a winner!” Says Josef K + Winter Son: “We really to make something hypnotic and starting making the piano swirl around, locking it in with the percussion. It was all done in pretty much one take and we just went with the track's momentum. It's dedicated to the nights we've spent with Sankeys' Tribal Sessions across the globe, and to everyone who's spent time on the dancefloor there.” Josef K + Winter Son’s influences, from Detroit to Berlin, are encapsulated through their hardware jams creating music with atmosphere, and intensity, both sharing duties on all manner of synths and drum machines in their Manchester studio. Their debut release, 'The Straw That Broke The Camel's Back', was released on Sasha's label Last Night On Earth. ‘Tribal Rhythm’ is the fourth release on Kim Ann Foxman’s Firehouse imprint - a collaboration with The Vinyl Factory - and follows three stellar EP’s by Kim Ann, including a re-release of her solo debut, the classic ‘Creature’.
