Ejeca - Zyfer
House and techno purveyor Ejeca delivers with a high-octane release, ‘Keep Climbing EP’ on Needwant Records, which celebrates 100 releases. The four-tracker is available on a limited run of vinyl. From its inception, Needwant has focussed on pioneering the sounds of tomorrow, developing exciting artists in the world of crossover dance and electronic music including lau.ra, Kiwi, and Ejeca, who first released on the label in 2013. The title track kicks off the EP with serious force; heavy kicks and a glitchy melody loops hypnotically before making way for the track’s commanding vocal which is equally entrancing. Like its title, ‘Keep Climbing’ builds and builds, generating full-throttle energy that is finally erupted after a euphoric piano breakdown. ‘Vader’ reduces the pace and deepens the mood with a deep humming bassline, twinkling chords, and eerie strings. A breakdown follows with Ejaca’s signature ravey piano-lines in combination with hooky top-line vocals that seamlessly takes the track into peak-time party territory. The track is dynamic, enthralling, and highlights the depth to Ejeca’s production. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is colourfully uplifting from the offset with bright piano and arpeggiating pads shimmering in tandem. The vocal is contagiously catchy, topping the instrumentation with positive energy which is present throughout the track’s duration. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is a peak-time club big-hitter. Rounding off the EP is ‘Zyfer’ which boasts uncompromisingly chunky kicks and raw industrial echoes, before cleverly switching to a contrasting sonic soundscape in true Ejeca style. 8-bit arpeggiating chords bubble before warping into a driving club melody which dances on top of the heavy-hitting kicks and groovy percussion. The EP perfectly captures the ethos of Needwant; forward-thinking music with innovative ideas from an artist who contributed to the label in its early stages. 100 releases on and Needwant continues to push the sounds of tomorrow in slick style.

Northern Irish Techno maestro EJECA is back with his fourth full-length EP on Shall Not Fade, following up on the sublime grooves of Free From. This time round, expect high-octane drama from the off; borrowing sounds from across the hardcore continuum EJECA shows off his skill for dance music production.
Take It EP's title track is a force of bouncing hardcore, harsh synths and firey vocals which begs to be played out in the early hours for a fever-pitch dancefloor, nonstop to the end. By comparison, "Away" is minimalist. Riding on a chunky bassline, the glittering melody rises slowly to create an effervescent soundscape with a driving beat.
The peaks and drops of "Clunk" are dizzying, a tight rave-influenced number closing the A-Side; B1 "Mallusk" builds the tension with elongated pads and rolling breaks. Take It closes out with "Static", an icy crescendo of cold vocal cuts and ghostly distortion holding the line between techno and noise. More

EJECA - Free Form (Cinthie Remix)
One of Belfast's finest exports, EJECA is no stranger to Shall Not Fade. Initially appearing on the label last year with the infectious hardcore-tinged Polar Nation EP. This time round EJECA demonstrates his knowledge of the harder edge of UK dance music with the weighty Sunburst EP, backed with a killer remix from Cinthie.
The pulsing kick of "Stoke It" is tempting, like the low end frequencies felt echoing out of some dark Berlin club; paired with dramatic analogue synth effects and old-school energy, it pushes straight into high stakes rave callback "Faith". Then closing the A-side is the glimmering electro-disco-beat of "The Basics". Think early Warp Records meets modern space-age drama.
The title track can be found opening up the B-side; unrelenting blissful arps allow space for a slow build-up so that the eventual kick-drum catches you off guard. It swirls towards a cliffhanger drop, forming a beautiful centrepiece to the record. "Looksee" is the slightly more relaxed B2, muted low-end bassline and protracted pads giving a well-deserved breather from previous intensity. Ejeca has enlisted the much-revered Berlin DJ and producer Cinthie on remix duties for the expansive title track; her bouncing house edit reimagines the tense, entrancing production of the original into a seductive groove that closes the driving, dark EP with a bit of sunshine. The Belfast based DJ & producer, Garry McCartney, otherwise known as EJECA, has been steadily and consistently building his sound and profile over time, through a series of impressive releases for Aus Music, Unknown To The Unknown, W&O Street Tracks, BPitch Control and Last Night On Earth, amongst others. EJECA carves out an energetic slab of audacious party house on ‘Unloving’, resplendent with rolling beats and stabby chords, and topped off with dramatic strings and vocal chops. Elsewhere on the EP, EJECA unleashes some 303 bassline action and dark vocals on ‘Standard Acid House Track’, which thankfully rises well above anything standard! And on ‘Crystal Maze’, EJECA harks back to the darker dance energies that were a staple of the late 1980s UK acid house boom. Wrapping up the EP, ‘ISWHATIS’ gets ever so slightly twisted with an orbiting synth hook and weighty stabs over a spirited rhythm section.

The debut release on Exploris has finally arrived from label head Ejeca. Having initially built a name with more vocal lead releases, 2014 has seen Ejeca move into slightly tougher territory and EXP001 drops 3 techno cuts that range from the off kilter to the more industrial in style. This first release makes its stamp and sets the tone for what is to follow from both Ejeca and Exploris, genre bending music that is hard to categorise, whilst always maintaining that dance floor effectiveness found in his earlier works. With support from major players ranging from underground stalwarts Steve Bug, Eats Everything, Catz N Dogz, Bicep, Dusky,Tim Sweeney and Mark Henning, to nationally recognised radio hosts such as Skream, B.Traits and Monki, this is a record that will have mass appeal. Having already received acclaim as techno record of the month in Mixmag and with press support across the board from the likes of DJ Mag and XLR8R, now is the time for this to find it’s way into the public domain. A bold opening statement from Exploris and an insight into what to expect from Ejeca and Exploris.

After a great response from Ejeca’s ‘Frequency‘ EP previously released on Sasha's imprint 'Last Night On Earth' in January 2013, the label continues to support his sound by releasing a new 4 track EP called ‘Contemplation’ that will be available on the 28th July consisting of a wide range of electronics from Ejeca’s many musical influences. Never one to stick with a particular sound for too long, Ejeca has constantly explored numerous styles, reflecting his own eclectic taste in music and shows that he has no strict music policy. Just good quality and interesting electronic music, which is exactly what ‘Contemplation’ and Last Night On Earth are all about.

Northern Irishman Ejeca makes his second appearance on London based Needwant after his highly successful 'Horizon EP'. Title track 'Together' showcases the talented producer's style when it comes to combining a new twist on 90s garage with a 4/4 beat. The tracks huge euphoric breakdown cleverly reference the past whilst still keeping the future in mind, a signature sound that Ejeca has become so well known for over the past twelve months. House maestro Terrence Parker makes his first appearance on Needwant with his flawless 'Motor City Soul Mix' of 'Together' adding deep, warm chords for an elevating affair. Jump’ kicks things off in style here, with it’s off-kilter drums creating a bumpy, energetic vibe, while bright chord progressions, hi-strings and looming, drawn-out bass tones create the melodic depths. Sampled and manipulated vocal snippets are also introduced building their own melodic movement, while the envelopes of each element are subtly tweaked to falter and evolve throughout the records duration. Stepping up next is ‘Purnsley’, taking things deeper with a cosseting, ethereal vibe, the Brit producer employs warm, heavily side-chained pads with dubbed-out vocal lines and shuffling drums, to create a sensual after-hours groove. Entering the B-Side we have ‘Home’, where Ejeca journeys on a retro-inspired tip, with classic Hammond organ sounds, NY garage style vocals and crunchy 909 drums. The cut blossoms in true house fashion introducing and retracting elements every thirty-two bars, resulting in simple yet undeniably effective structure sure to grab attention on dance floors. Finally to close the release, ‘Agent Of The Deep’, is turned in, and as the name would suggest, the record is soul-laden, emotive house, instilled with some smoky production techniques such as fluttering white noise, chorused strings and rolling toms, thrown into the depths of the background for good measure, resulting in a tasteful, classic meets contemporary workout.

Sasha & Jody Barr - Phaxon (Einmusik Remix)
Sasha continues his current hot streak with a new single on Last Night On Earth alongside Jody Barr, with a killer Einmuisk Remix on the flip. Pioneering electronic force Sasha has found plenty of success in recent creative partnerships. The Last Night On Earth founder has worked with the likes of Super Flu and Sentre and dropped a steady stream of fresh solo sounds such as 'Florian Drift' and 'How to Wear Raybans Well'. All this means he continues to lead the melodic house and techno scene from the front with expertly crafted sounds. Here, he works with Jody Barr who has long been close to this label having also established himself with music on Krankbrother, Configurations Of Self and Nofitstate. He heads up Portable Minds and is renowned for his rugged, hardware-centric sound. 'Phaxon' is a beautifully elegant affair with shimmering chords rising and falling over a serene electronic groove. It's packed with smart sound design and subtle touches that make it glow from start to finish as the emotions build and sweep you up into a delightful dance floor reverie. Hamburg's Einmusik has a cultured techno sound that has lit up his own self-titled label as well as the likes of Diynamic and Sincopat. His version is more rugged with a darker feel thanks to the rasping bassline that rumbles below. There is still plenty of great chord work but the whole track is a little more direct for poignant club deployment.

Sasha & Sentre - Glastacy (Intro / Outro Mix)
Electronic titan Sasha combines with Sentre for the latest in a series of collaborative releases. The release of 'Glastacy' coincides with this year’s Glastonbury festival and comes with something special for fans. Even by his own high standards, electronic luminary Sasha is in a superb run of form that has already yielded some stellar singles in the last year, both solo and in collaboration with like-minded talents. TheGRAMMY Award-nominated artist is renowned for pushing musical and technological boundaries, as well as for platforming exciting sounds on his Last Night On Earth label. The next release finds him working with Sentre, aka Dave Gardner & Dennis White, who have been electronic mainstays for many years. They have plenty of major credits under their belts, including working with Sasha on his seminal ‘Involver’ album and also 'Track 10' which they made with Sasha many years ago. It was Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune at the time and is one of many gems from these self-confessed studio nerds. 'Glastacy' is their latest collaboration, and it works angelic, wordless vocal sounds into heavenly loops that shimmer in and out of focus. Deft hi-hits and a supple bassline bring movement as a lead synth motif rises up out of the mix to bring dramatic tension and take dancers to the stars. It's emotive, hypnotic techno of the highest order, with a spine-tingling breakdown leading towards more trance-inducing musical pleasures. The Intro:Outro Mix is an ambient tool stripped of beats.

Sasha & Super Flu - Astra (Sasha Daydream Mix)
Sasha & Super Flu join forces for electrifying new single, ‘Astra’. Last Night on Earth label head Sasha is proving to be as innovative as ever in the studio of late. The globally renowned producer and game-changing DJ continues exploring rich new musical ground while retaining his signature sense of melody, drama, and energy. He has also made his label an outlet renowned for its quality output and backs that up here with a new collaboration alongside Feliks Thielemann & Mathias Schwarz, better known as Super Flu. The German pair has a sound that knows no bounds and breaks all rules. They tinker with music-making gear, draw from diverse musical influences and are underground mainstays with an enviable discography on numerous key labels. The electrifying 'Astra' is awash with smart effects and filters that smudge and stretch a vocal over rising synth tension. The heavy drums jostle for your attention as the chord vamps twist and turn, ramping up the pressure as they go and building towards a dramatic breakdown. It locks you in the moment before setting off again on more tightly woven drums and synths. The Sasha Daydream Mix is a more blissed-out and late-night rework with shakers, floating drums and deft synth lines drifting about up top to soothing and atmospheric effect.

Sasha - Fleuron Drift (Kassian Remix)
Hugely influential electronic innovator Sasha has been at the heart of the underground almost since it began. He has done it all, from legendary residencies and seminal mix CDs to GRAMMY Award-nominated productions, but never stops pushing forward either with his dexterous and high-tech DJ sets or innovative productions. He had a big 2023 that featured a collaboration with Because of Art and a new single, 'Works Vagon,' and now backs that up once more with this latest outing.
The superb 'Fleuron Drift' is a typically epic sonic journey with meticulous synth craft that is ever evolving. Lead lines dance, and background chords add soul as the hypnotic drums lead towards a spellbinding and signature breakdown that will get hands in the air before the chords swirl and circle around the groove like birds on a warm vector.
London-based Theo Kottis has established himself as one of the UK's most versatile DJs and producers on labels like Dekmantel and Permanent Vacation. His superb remix brings more energy and snappier, tech-leaning drums with glitchy synth textures, making it more suited to sweatier dance floor moments.
Kassian is a London production duo who have released on cult labels like Heist and Phonica. Their version is quicker, with clipped drums bringing the funk under molten chords and rising synth tension that is designed to lift crowds off their feet and into another realm of electronic pleasure. More

Jon Da Silva & Jozef K – - Maresme (Da Silva Mix)
Sasha launches his new, limited run ‘LNOE Vinyl Archives’ series on his Last Night On Earth imprint, with ‘Vol.1’ dropping on September 13th. The release features gems like the definitive Hunter/Game ‘Canyons’, Sasha & La Fleur’s massively popular collaboration ‘Förbindelse’, Fur Coat’s recent ‘Babel’ and a new track ‘Maresme’ (Da Silva Mix), from Jon DaSilva and Jozef K. This is the only time these tracks will be available on vinyl, a must-have for record collectors and LNOE label fans alike. ‘Maresme’ drops digitally later in the year, so this will be the first chance for fans to snap it up months ahead of official release. This new series celebrates pivotal cuts from the label’s history, as well as fresh upcoming tracks. ‘The idea came to me when I saw the success of the LNOE100 Compilation. Demand was so huge, we had to do a re-press of the vinyl,’ Sasha says. ‘It seemed like a great way to give new life to classic tracks from the back catalogue in a different format.’ Each limited run release will feature three tracks from the LNOE back catalogue - a recent release, a seminal cut from the archives and a stand-out hit - and an exclusive forthcoming track.

To celebrate a century of outstanding releases, LNOE drops its first compilation; tracks selected by Sasha’s invited guest remixers. Radio Slave, Frankey & Sandrino and Locked Groove step up for their label debut, while Fur Coat, John Monkman, Dubspeeka, BAILE and VONDA7 return. After almost 8 years as a platform for new and established artists as well as for Sasha’s own productions, Last Night On Earth is a global success. Label showcases sell out at lightning speed, including Miami and most recently ADE boat parties, which will live on in the memories of lucky attendees, and in January at Tulum. Meanwhile the Last Night On Earth podcast has accrued a loyal following who eagerly await each month’s new opportunity to experience Sasha’s handpicked live sets. LNOE 100 honours both the artists and the fans who have made the label an industry leader. With each artist picking which to remix, the compilation is packed with inspired new collaborations. Seminal cuts such as the very first LNOE release, Sasha’s ‘Cut Me Down’, reworked by Radio Slave is interspersed with cult favourites, like Henry Saiz ‘I Can Feel it Coming’ which VONDA7 takes to new heights, and Locked Groove’s rework of Max Cooper ‘Careless’.

Building upon their first EP release on Tevo Howard Recordings, Kate Simko and Tevo Howard have rejoined forces, debuting their full-length album ‘PolyRhythmic’ on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint. Native Chicagoans, Tevo and Kate grew up on house music, and their collaboration pays homage to their home city while exploring new creative territory. The duo’s LP leaves few musical stones unturned, traversing through their melodic, classic, and genre-bending sound.‘PolyRhythmic’ displays Kate and Tevo’s commitment to artistry in dance music. Twelve thoughtfully constructed tracks capture their versatility as musicians. 'No Regrets’ is highlighted by iconic chilling vocals by Baz from Pirupa, whose keep-it-real lyrics sit on top of a track inspired by Prescription Records. ‘Polyphonica’ features locals near Tevo’s studio on Granville in Chicago, and is the musical compliment to the album’s theme PolyRhythmic. ‘Tomorrow And Other Days’ modern electro synths and ‘Fall’s classic acid sound show that Kate and Tevo remain ever focused on the future yet driven by their rich musical pasts.

Driving forward from the announcement of their forthcoming ‘PolyRhythmic’ LP on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint, Kate Simko and Tevo Howard are known for creating out of the box and genre-bending productions. Now, the native Chicagoans proudly announce their ‘Theme Track EP,’ giving music lovers a taste of things to come from the album. Both Kate and Tevo grew up on house music and their collaboration stays true to their roots whilst bringing a contemporary twist. Their signature classic sound shines brightly through each production. The opening track ‘PolyRhythmic Theme’ does exactly that. A groove-ridden bass line, coupled with a driving electro synth, mingles with recordings of people on the street near Tevo’s studio in Chicago. Tevo’s classic Roland programming and Kate’s melodic synth melodies are ever present throughout the EP, highlighted perfectly in ‘No Regrets’. Featuring vocalist Baz from Pirupa, the track’s keep-it-real lyrics and hypnotic harmonies bring a new dimension to the PolyRhythmic project. Inspired by the iconic Chicago imprint Prescription Records, ‘No Regrets’ is a standout track from the forthcoming album. Closing the EP in the spirit of PolyRhythmic, renowned New York producer Fred P (aka Black Jazz Consortium) delivers a masterful remix of ‘PolyRhythmic Theme’. Fred, a former roommate of Tevo’s in Berlin, has established himself as one of the most respected players in house music. Taking his time on this remix, he’s delivered an artful dance floor jam already earning incredibly enthusiastic DJ feedback. An eight-minute journey, the rework of ‘PolyRhythmic Theme’ takes the listener from sparse 808 grooves to powerful high rising synth peaks fluttering throughout the track.

The latest instalment from Last Night On Earth introduces Harry Klein artist Nico Lahs. Nico came to us with two original peak time cuts full of melodics and emotion that were a perfect match for the LNOE sound. Also featuring on the EP is a super stripped back Dub Techno workout from the man like Deadbeat who has always impressed us highly with his musical abilities.
