House and techno purveyor Ejeca delivers with a high-octane release, ‘Keep Climbing EP’ on Needwant Records, which celebrates 100 releases. The four-tracker is available on a limited run of vinyl. From its inception, Needwant has focussed on pioneering the sounds of tomorrow, developing exciting artists in the world of crossover dance and electronic music including lau.ra, Kiwi, and Ejeca, who first released on the label in 2013. The title track kicks off the EP with serious force; heavy kicks and a glitchy melody loops hypnotically before making way for the track’s commanding vocal which is equally entrancing. Like its title, ‘Keep Climbing’ builds and builds, generating full-throttle energy that is finally erupted after a euphoric piano breakdown. ‘Vader’ reduces the pace and deepens the mood with a deep humming bassline, twinkling chords, and eerie strings. A breakdown follows with Ejaca’s signature ravey piano-lines in combination with hooky top-line vocals that seamlessly takes the track into peak-time party territory. The track is dynamic, enthralling, and highlights the depth to Ejeca’s production. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is colourfully uplifting from the offset with bright piano and arpeggiating pads shimmering in tandem. The vocal is contagiously catchy, topping the instrumentation with positive energy which is present throughout the track’s duration. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is a peak-time club big-hitter. Rounding off the EP is ‘Zyfer’ which boasts uncompromisingly chunky kicks and raw industrial echoes, before cleverly switching to a contrasting sonic soundscape in true Ejeca style. 8-bit arpeggiating chords bubble before warping into a driving club melody which dances on top of the heavy-hitting kicks and groovy percussion. Northern Irish Techno maestro EJECA is back with his fourth full-length EP on Shall Not Fade, following up on the sublime grooves of Free From. This time round, expect high-octane drama from the off; borrowing sounds from across the hardcore continuum EJECA shows off his skill for dance music production.

Take It EP's title track is a force of bouncing hardcore, harsh synths and firey vocals which begs to be played out in the early hours for a fever-pitch dancefloor, nonstop to the end. By comparison, "Away" is minimalist. Riding on a chunky bassline, the glittering melody rises slowly to create an effervescent soundscape with a driving beat.

The peaks and drops of "Clunk" are dizzying, a tight rave-influenced number closing the A-Side; B1 "Mallusk" builds the tension with elongated pads and rolling breaks. Take It closes out with "Static", an icy crescendo of cold vocal cuts and ghostly distortion holding the line between techno and noise. More

One of Belfast's finest exports, EJECA is no stranger to Shall Not Fade. Initially appearing on the label last year with the infectious hardcore-tinged Polar Nation EP. This time round EJECA demonstrates his knowledge of the harder edge of UK dance music with the weighty Sunburst EP, backed with a killer remix from Cinthie.

The pulsing kick of "Stoke It" is tempting, like the low end frequencies felt echoing out of some dark Berlin club; paired with dramatic analogue synth effects and old-school energy, it pushes straight into high stakes rave callback "Faith". Then closing the A-side is the glimmering electro-disco-beat of "The Basics". Think early Warp Records meets modern space-age drama.

The title track can be found opening up the B-side; unrelenting blissful arps allow space for a slow build-up so that the eventual kick-drum catches you off guard. It swirls towards a cliffhanger drop, forming a beautiful centrepiece to the record. "Looksee" is the slightly more relaxed B2, muted low-end bassline and protracted pads giving a well-deserved breather from previous intensity. Ejeca has enlisted the much-revered Berlin DJ and producer Cinthie on remix duties for the expansive title track; her bouncing house edit reimagines the tense, entrancing production of the original into a seductive groove that closes the driving, dark EP with a bit of sunshine. Off the back of his debut album as Trance Wax in November, Belfast producer Ejeca returns with his new project of mixtapes of all original material spanning across his musical influences. The first instalment of the mixtape series comes in the shape of 45 minutes of hi-nrg hardcore and rave. After a great response from Ejeca’s ‘Frequency‘ EP previously released on Sasha's imprint 'Last Night On Earth' in January 2013, the label continues to support his sound by releasing a new 4 track EP called ‘Contemplation’ that will be available on the 28th July consisting of a wide range of electronics from Ejeca’s many musical influences. Never one to stick with a particular sound for too long, Ejeca has constantly explored numerous styles, reflecting his own eclectic taste in music and shows that he has no strict music policy. Jump’ kicks things off in style here, with it’s off-kilter drums creating a bumpy, energetic vibe, while bright chord progressions, hi-strings and looming, drawn-out bass tones create the melodic depths. Sampled and manipulated vocal snippets are also introduced building their own melodic movement, while the envelopes of each element are subtly tweaked to falter and evolve throughout the records duration. Stepping up next is ‘Purnsley’, taking things deeper with a cosseting, ethereal vibe, the Brit producer employs warm, heavily side-chained pads with dubbed-out vocal lines and shuffling drums, to create a sensual after-hours groove. Entering the B-Side we have ‘Home’, where Ejeca journeys on a retro-inspired tip, with classic Hammond organ sounds, NY garage style vocals and crunchy 909 drums. The cut blossoms in true house fashion introducing and retracting elements every thirty-two bars, resulting in simple yet undeniably effective structure sure to grab attention on dance floors. Finally to close the release, ‘Agent Of The Deep’, is turned in, and as the name would suggest, the record is soul-laden, emotive house, instilled with some smoky production techniques such as fluttering white noise, chorused strings and rolling toms, thrown into the depths of the background for good measure, resulting in a tasteful, classic meets contemporary workout.

The ‘Vista’ EP caps off an intensely busy year for Geoff Kirkwood, otherwise known as Man Power. The British DJ/producer has become quite the ‘tour de force’ in 2018, with releases and remixes for Futureboogie, DFA, Correspondant, Exotic Series, Skint Records, and his very own Me Me Me imprint. So it seems quite fitting to seal a productive 12 months with a release on Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two, a label that itself has been firing out big releases this year from EJECA, Jansons & Senzala and Ahmed himself. And joining this big end of year party, enter stage left, Roman Flu¨gel, who delivers an absolutely stellar remix of ‘Vista’. Meaty synths and clattering 909 drums are doused in futuristic Italo disco vibes for ‘Outrider’, whilst a winning combo of breakbeats and acid affected bass provide the backbone of the simply gargantuan ‘Vista’. Roman Flu¨gel’s interpretation of the title track brings the break to the fore, playfully teasing out the acidic sounds and surging strings for another truly memorable remix that we’ve come to expect from Mr. Flu¨gel. London duo Senzala is made up of Jonni Santos and Sam Holland, a pair who have impressed with their inventive sounds and rich musical palettes on labels like Pets Recordings and forthcoming releases on No. 19. Fellow Londoner Jansons, meanwhile, has been tipped as one to watch, with numerous plays of his recent releases on Four Thirty Two, Knee Deep In Sound and VIVa across all the BBC radio specialist dance shows. Opening up in brilliantly arresting fashion is ‘JNZ’, a big-hearted house track with bouncy rubber kicks and scattered percussion, bringing a loose sense of funk to the groove. Perfectly soulful, pitch shifted vocals (from Margaret Grace, for the spotters out there) bring an inescapable ‘hands in the air’ vibe that’s already tearing up some of the more discerning dancefloors out there, and already big with jocks like Jamie Jones, Richy Ahmed, Hot Since 82 and many more. Richy Ahmed has been steadily building his Four Thirty Two label over the last 12 months, introducing talented artists such as Jansons and Senzala to the fold. The imprint is fast becoming a ‘go to’ label for those who like their house music uncomplicated and hype free, ensuring the Chicago and Detroit house sound burns bright with new music indebted to the roots of the music. After recent releases on Seth Troxler’s Play It Say It label, and remixes for London Grammar, Richy brings the goods back to home on this latest Four Thirty Two release. On “Can’t Stop Us”, chunky stabs incessantly jab at meaty drums, as a female vocal loop rides on an opening filter. The good vibes build to a classic house piano crescendo that Marshall Jefferson would certainly approve of, as the soaring strings and evolving drums raise the rapturous mood to dizzying heights. On the flip, the percussive disco drums of “Dials Mavis” are bolstered by a booming sub bassline whilst deft keys and deep Rhodes chords deliver the infectious melody on this bumping jazz ride. More

Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two imprint continues to shine a light on the freshest talent emerging from the house music underground, and on the label’s third release, the London based Senzala get to flex their muscle on a fine release, backed with a remix from Ahmed and Jansons AKA Lovehertz. Having previously released on the French label Mr. KS & Friends, and Politics Of Dancing, the Senzala boys, otherwise known as Jonni Santos & Sam Holland, deliver the goods once more on the “Phase” EP. The title track packs rolling 909s and looping filtered disco riffs into its punch; never letting the energy levels drop. Vocal licks and techno-laced stabs drive this club-focused track fantastically, with a glossy production that really shines through. Richy Ahmed and Jansons come correct with a Loveherts remix; a heavyweight analogue bassline dominated the mix and the vocal parts slide down the arpeggiated riff as incessant synth stabs ramp up the heat, taking their remix right to fever pitch. The Senzala boys grind out more solid house grooves on “All For You”, deploying disco samples and vocals that are filtered and twisted around the tough drums to great effect, whilst on “Agora”, the mood remains unfaltering as feel good riffs and warm keys wrap around Senzala’s steady beat to complete a stellar release that’s packed with energy and infectious vibes. Four Thirty Two, the new record label directed and curated by Richy Ahmed, reveals its second release this Spring with a fantastic new single from Luca Cazal. Out on vinyl & digital in April, ‘Be Alone’ is backed with collaboration with Italian producer, Andrea Fiorito. Cazal has previously released music on Crosstown Rebels, Classic Music Company and his own See Double label, and once again displays his house music credentials on this Four Thirty Two release. His understanding of club music runs deep; knowing what makes a dancefloor tick is an essential skill for any producer, and Cazal’s DJ residency at the Paradise DC10 club nights and regular gigs at Circoloco keep him firmly in tune and adept at carving out modern and fresh party moments. ‘Be Alone’ is an inspiriting, rolling house track that builds steadily over its tenure. A filtered vocal hook unfurls over tension building strings and nimble keys, the hi-hats assuredly rattling over rolling snare fills and with the energy levels never dropping, Cazal serves up a cracking club cut with all the hallmarks of a filtered house classic in the making. Richy Ahmed launches his new imprint, Four Thirty Two, with a self-produced two-track single, “Put Me In A Trance”, featuring the vocal talents of Gloria Adereti and a collaboration with up and coming producer, Janson. The new label is a back to basics, analogue vision, directed by Richy, which will include original material, unearthed and undiscovered artist appearances, and remixes from the Richy and Janson alias Love Hurtz, as well as featuring a variety of vocalists from surrounding circles. Each release will have a clear focus on the sound of vinyl and clean-cut imagery presented with each record. Since his debut EP “The Drums” on Hot Creations in 2013, Richy has continued to pave the way for genre spanning and aspiring artists. Aside from his recording and production ventures, Richy has been at the forefront of UK house music and its surrounding avenues for some years, taking a lead role in programming DC10’S Paradise parties, and a variety of club projects.
