Its been almost a year since our Robsoul brother Chris Carrier unveiled new music on the label. After recent remix and release forays on Hot Creations, Cuttin’ Headz and his own Adult Only imprint, Mr Consistent is back with a trio of hot new jams. With its familiar screams and bumping bassline, title track ‘Plastic Dance’ sets the trend as its tickled ivories and snatched snares create a dancefloor commotion. ‘Hoverbike,' with its future facing title, actually presents crisp classic sounds wrapped in a haze of floating filters. A track that will draw even the most reluctant groovers to the dancefloor. For those still holding out, Chris also drops a bass-heavy Dub version to give them an extra nudge.

The always trustworthy Sound Carrier label steps back into the limelight to hit us with another fix of quality techno from monsieur Chris Carrier. The Parisian producer never stops making music, and he presents three new extra terrestrial cuts here on this latest instalment from his excellent label. The story here is about two powerful intergalactic beings who discover that they have been lied to by their leaders - there are no magic mushrooms, just a forest of poisoned ones. They have laid down their arms to discuss this despicable turn of events… Track one is a rolling slice of analogue techno with acid licks and squelches bubbling away at its core. Named ‘Cat’s Eye Nebula’ it sucks us in to an interplanetary vortex, with cosmic FX transporting to the interior of a spaceship, while the beats give the feeling of a bumpy ride into the cosmos. This is followed by the more composed solemnity of ‘Galactus’. Shuffling beats slide over a funky bassline, the outer space theme continues with Carrier implementing a series of manipulated sounds which convey the feeling of futuristic machinery, blinking dashboards or robots communicating with one another.
Finally, we have ‘Dark Poison’, the inspiration behind the whole EP. More deep 303 vibes on this with a simmering analogue riff, percussion which increases in intensity alongside several layers of melodramatic effects, high-pitched twinkles and chimes which really add to the tension

Last seen on Robsoul Jazz back in April with his wonderfully unique and creative long-player ‘Green Age’, our longest and dearest collaborator Mr Chris Carrier is back to close out 2016 with a fresh selection of straight up house gems. First choice is the sweat inducing Philly flava of ‘Fever Tree’. Showering us in ’70’s glitter with its timeless vocal and low-slung bass. Following and flexing its funk is ‘To The Wonder’ with its filtered strings and vocal, garnished with piercing beams of sound and fx. On the flip Chris opens with the warping piano, sultry sax and skittish snare work of the aptly titled ‘Feel Good Tonight’, before dropping some warehouse chops with the weighty bass growl of ‘Inside’, closing yet another essential Carrier crop for your record box.

The last Sound Carrier was based around the notion of intrepid intergalactic explorers trying to get to earth, this time we’re taken 10,000 leagues below the surface to trawl the deep sea. All the way down there, we experience increased pressure, sub-zero temperatures, darkness and previously undiscovered new worlds. Up first we have ‘Lactarius Indigo Mission’, which has a distinct urgency and ‘in-your-face’ bitch slap percussion. The bassline writhes under a variety of squelchy, bleepy effects, which add a layer of depth and the whole thing feels quite ‘electro’. After that ‘From The Space To The Sea’ continues the electro vibes with more punchy beats, a rugged b-line and heavyweight kicks. Carrier’s use of quirky details give this track a unique character and contagious energy.On the other side we’re treated to another strange Carrier creation, the laidback ‘Kepler 22b’. Named after the first known planet to orbit a sun within what’s known as a ‘habitable zone’, Kepler 22b could well support life. The track is serene and full of optimism, a fitting soundtrack for a distant Earth-like planet. Minimal workout ‘Diver Level 1000’ closes the EP with its unusual arrangement and simple yet deadly programming. Chris Carrier delivers a box of steaming fresh hot techno jams with the latest release from his trusty Adult Only sub-label, Sound Carrier. Over the last five years he has dropped five EPs on the label, with this marking Sound Carrier’s sixth outing. As usual, the sounds here are a little more entrenched in the techno sound ethic. ‘Cosmic Road’ is the first of four that take us on a journey out into space, the final frontier… As the name suggests, we’re propelled up into the stars, encouraged to let go of our Earth-bound outlook and travel far away beyond Saturn’s rings. Smooth pads form a cosmic choir with bright flecks of synth, dancing around a jaunty bassline. Amazing. ‘Space Nation’ then strips things back, coming through with that minimal vibe. The rhythm is steppy, chugging along with mysterious intent. On the other side we take ‘Refuge On Earth’ with a 303-led trip back to our home planet. Here we are comforted by the familiar sound of that Roland machine, while the percussion slaps and claps away like the firecracker sound of a machine gun. Last up, ‘Holidays On Mars’ drifts in with an bright, optimistic feeling permeating throughout. See you at Orion’s Belt for a boogie!...

As a successful DJ and producer, co-owner of the irrepressible Soweso record label (launched in 2009 with fellow Dutchman, Lauhaus) Liron van Daalen (aka Kabale und Liebe) is constantly striving for the highest level of quality throughout everything he does. After building up a solid following DJing across the Netherlands, by 2007, just a few years after he had started producing, he released Mumbling Yeah, which was named 'Track Of the Year' by Resident Advisor and established him as a notable producer. Since then his music has emerged on esteemed labels such as Rush Hour, Souvenir, Rejected and Strictly Rhythm. After various singles and EP releases the next logical step in Kabale und Liebe's career is the release of his debut album 'Realitivity', which heralds a change in direction for the Dutch master. Switching from software-based music programming to exclusively working on hardware has given him a new lease of life, creating a renewed sense of excitement about music and inspiring him to work on the biggest project of his career so far. Realitivity is based on the notion that everybody's reality is relative to their own personal interpretation. In the context of the album, the music on offer is open to interpretation, avoiding genre specifics and representing Liron's diverse personal tastes. The productions are raw and typically groovy, the result of numerous jam sessions in the studio - recorded in one take and run through his analogue mixing desk. Listeners can expect a refreshingly human feel to all of the tracks and a few surprises. Opening with the gently bubbling and unfurling Intro to Mindmanifest the album then starts in earnest with the funked up techno of The Hunter (taken from the preceding Sammy Hoboken EP) with it's shuffling beat and dappled synths before Dim builds and builds into a solid house groove, inflected with warmth and emotion: a trademark of Liron's production approach. Bats 'N Butterflies injects an African rhythm into Liron's pulsating house invention - driving us ever closer to the heart of the dancefloor before Lima Sweet Dreams offers a more melancholic, introverted melody that soothes across a sparse staccato beat. Tracks such as Fat'ish' Ass (Twerk Track) highlight Liron's unique take on booty bass - injecting house rhythm's into the rump shaking formula whilst Can I Have S'Amore cranks up the groove for a more driving techno version of the Kabale und Liebe sound. The album's zenith is perhaps reached with the coupling of Sammy Hoboken and Nordlove (Instrumental Version). Two tracks full of swinging Detroit style strings, melody, passion and that all important KuL groove. Pop Artro shakes things up, providing a short yet totally absorbing abstract interlude before the album gets back in the saddle for the powerful bass intensity of Too Many Circuses, Not Enough Freaks. Finally, Liron once again shows off his maverick studio flair, this time re-wiring old school electrobass with 1535'08 10 and providing us with another facet to his kaleidoscopic production talent. As Liron himself says, "'Realitivity' is my road to finding a new and fresh sound. A sound for which I found a lot of inspiration in my personal musical history of deejaying and buying records over the last 20 years. 'Realitivity' is Kabale und Liebe's debut album, set for release on his Soweso Records label this summer. As a successful DJ and producer, co-owner of the irrepressible Soweso record label (launched in 2009 with fellow Dutchman, Lauhaus) Liron van Daalen (aka Kabale und Liebe) is constantly striving for the highest level of quality throughout everything he does. After building up a solid following DJing across the Netherlands, by 2007, just a few years after he had started producing, he released Mumbling Yeah, which was named 'Track Of the Year' by Resident Advisor and established him as a notable producer. Since then his music has emerged on esteemed labels such as Rush Hour, Souvenir, Rejected and Strictly Rhythm. After various singles and EP releases the next logical step in Kabale und Liebe's career is the release of his debut album 'Realitivity', which heralds a change in direction for the Dutch master. Switching from software-based music programming to exclusively working on hardware has given him a new lease of life, creating a renewed sense of excitement about music and inspiring him to work on the biggest project of his career so far. Realitivity is based on the notion that everybody's reality is relative to their own personal interpretation. In the context of the album, the music on offer is open to interpretation, avoiding genre specifics and representing Liron's diverse personal tastes. The productions are raw and typically groovy, the result of numerous jam sessions in the studio - recorded in one take and run through his analogue mixing desk. Listeners can expect a refreshingly human feel to all of the tracks and a few surprises. Opening with the gently bubbling and unfurling Intro to Mindmanifest the album then starts in earnest with the funked up techno of The Hunter (taken from the preceding Sammy Hoboken EP) with it's shuffling beat and dappled synths before Dim builds and builds into a solid house groove, inflected with warmth and emotion: a trademark of Liron's production approach. Bats 'N Butterflies injects an African rhythm into Liron's pulsating house invention - driving us ever closer to the heart of the dancefloor before Lima Sweet Dreams offers a more melancholic, introverted melody that soothes across a sparse staccato beat.
