See Double, the London based imprint headed by Luca Cazal and Brigante, returns for its fifth outing, a three track EP from Boris Werner titled ‘Badabing Badaboum’. A club-ready package and staple of Werner's recent sets, SD005 once again proves this Amsterdam local’s deep knowledge and understanding of how to move a dance floor.
Played by Seth Troxler and Richy Ahmed amongst others and tried and tested by both label boss Cazal and Werner on DC10’s terrace throughout this summer, title track ‘Badabing Badaboum’ is a bonafide club smasher. Leading the charge with a hypnotic bell riff alongside a chugging 4/4 pulse, Werner keeps a driving pace as sluggish and evolving low end theory enters the fray. A deftly constructed, energy filled arrangement progresses before indiscernible, tribal vocal chants take the fore, trading blows with a modulating acid bassline. On the flip Werner delivers ‘You Snooze You Looze’, a tech-infused cut adorned with rolling subs, clinical percussion and a head-snapping rhythm. Phased synthesis and dissonant sample work pushes the track into uncharted trippy territory, as processed vox stabs and crisp hi-hat patterns maintain momentum, leading to a deeply musical breakdown that offers a truly dynamic shift in mood. Closing the EP is ‘Whooos In Control’, a lesson in atmosphere and groove, which sees spaced-out synths interplay with automated stabs. Ethereal pads and warped fx float atop Werner’s swung drum programming creating that perfect roller for those early morning moments.

These are a couple of the reasons why Boris Werner stands with us here today and proudly presents the Slow Dancin' EP, and we think you are really gonna love it. Strings and a relaxed rhythm user in the title track, complete with ambient vocal samples. Then, all at once the bass hits and the kick fills the void; instant groove. A jumpy synth dances over the track and invites friends to the show. Before you know it you've got a full track on your hands. Don't be fooled by the title, as it is indeed misleading. There will be no slow dancing to this gem. 'Missing Out (Dedicated to Ed & Emma) is a bit deeper, but with a warm feel (e-piano on reverb). Then, like 'Slow Dancin'', it catches you off guard with the beat. This is a feel good track, perfect for evenings, deep nights, and early mornings. Not to mention some of the years last open-air festivals. 'Did It In Miami' opens with caution, an indecisive kick with other percussive elements slowly build into an invigorating tech house beat. Grimy vocal samples creep in and the bass line slips under the beat, holding up the track well on a packed dancefloor.

Efde has been captivating us with his compelling dj sets and exquisite selection at places like Trouw and our Soweso label nights. With his "Move On EP" this all comes together in a a unique blend of jacking house fuelled with warm pads and techno rhythms. Four tracks that are drenched in Detroit nostalgia, but with a very contemporary vibe and an irresistible groove. The title track has been remixed by the amazing Trus'me. The Prime Numbers head honcho has been making waves in the international techno scene over the last decade with hits like "Somebody" and his recent album "Treat Me Right". The album's zenith is perhaps reached with the coupling of Sammy Hoboken and Nordlove (Instrumental Version). Two tracks full of swinging Detroit style strings, melody, passion and that all important KuL groove. Pop Artro shakes things up, providing a short yet totally absorbing abstract interlude before the album gets back in the saddle for the powerful bass intensity of Too Many Circuses, Not Enough Freaks. Finally, Liron once again shows off his maverick studio flair, this time re-wiring old school electrobass with 1535'08 10 and providing us with another facet to his kaleidoscopic production talent. As a precursor to Kabale Und Liebe's debut album, Soweso Records releases the 'Sammy Hoboken EP' in April as a teaser of what's to come. Almost 20 years ago, Liron van Daalen was inspired to become a DJ after his cousin explained that the mixtapes Liron adored were created by one person seamlessly mixing one record into another. That revelation set off a chain of events that has seen him adopt the alias Kabale Und Liebe and rise up to become one of Holland's most exciting and reputable electronic music artists. He is a successful DJ and producer, co-owner of the irrepressible Soweso record label (launched in 2009 with fellow Dutchman, Lauhaus) and constantly striving for the highest level of quality throughout everything he does. 2014 marks an important phase in Liron's career as he prepares to unveil his debut album, 'Realitivity', which delves deeper into his musical persona and sees the Dutchman go back to basics. The 'Sammy Hoboken EP' features 3 cuts from the forthcoming album and with lengths running from 8 to 10 minutes, these tracks are designed to get you into the groove and keep you there. Opening with the deep, percussive workout of the title track which gradually builds its electronic melody, via the funked up techno of 'The Hunter' with it's shuffling beat and dappled synths, to the final production, 'Too Many Circuses, Not Enough Freaks' which pounds straight in with its powerful bassline, before the claps take hold on this intense beast. On the A side they bring you Our Love, a driving melodic techhouse track with a warm, sexy and dreamy vibe to it. A2, Just Us takes it a little deeper. This Detroit influenced track is a perfect track for late in the morning. Flowy, deep, but with a solid low end are the key words to describe this gem.
