20/20 Vision continues to flourish even well into its third decade. For its next trick, the Leeds label welcomes back Brett Johnson, who was last here 20+ years ago. Releases on Classic Records, DJ Heather collaborations and Derrick Carter championing his work all make him a bona fide house hero and 'Broken Machine' confirms it. 'Unstuck' opens with a mutating disco bassline that refuses to settle, while 'Juiced' dives deep into his signature boompty swing with a drop designed for pure devastation. The title track is the centrepiece - a trippy trip that stretches time entirely before 'iRemember' closes with starry-eyed ambient pads laced above a deep, slow, gorgeous groove. Sophisticated, playful and musical as always.

Lucky for you, Brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. The core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by Get Physical owner and artist MANDY. They were kind enough to let Brett use the sample and run wild with it. The result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. All of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a Japanese after party somewhere in Shibuya.

Singles for Derrick Carter’s Classic, DJ Sneak’s Magnetic, Freerange and Visionquest have been record box staples for Eats Everything over the years, so it’s a big fat hello and welcome to Brett on the ‘Snack Attack’ EP. Lead cut, ‘Jack’, gets all playful, its nursery rhyme lyrical twist providing a most memorable dialogue over a killer house production. Jack by name, jack by nature, Brett throws all the right ingredients for a modern day ‘boompety’ vibe. Legwork's 2nd single comes from another one of our Texas compatriates, the indelible Brett Johnson, fresh off some amazing work on Classic, Get Physical, Rawax and other killer imprints. The Mission harks back to some of our favourite dub-techno moments, but keeps it's own flare with Brett's signature robo-rhythms and chopped and screwed vocal cuts. On the remix tip, it's label head Lance DeSardi & Convextion bringing their own flavour to the table respectively, with Lance stepping to the chord memory, deep bass, and over sampled drums, and Convextion going all the way out into hyper space with his usual sub-aquatic space funk.

Dallas native Brett Johnson has been in the business of blowing up dancefloors for quite some while employing multiple guises. As producer, DJ and label owner, Brett has deftly crossed boundaries over house, techno disco and R&B delivering a cascade of benchmark releases for well over a decade including ‘Stucco Homes’ on Classic, ‘Temptation and Lies’ from album project with David Barker and his momentous remix of Scooper & Bubba ‘I’m Satisfied’. Brett has also been running own imprint Bang The Box with close friend Lance DeSardi since 2007. A-side ‘Move Power’ featuring the enigmatic vocals of Andre Lewis aka Ellipsis is a peak time banger with lashings of cutting edge soul. Always exploring futuristic house sounds, Brett fuses leftfield modern magic with analogue keys and otherworldly FX to create a musical head-trip for the senses. Big percussion, tough rhythms, twisted acid lines and complex melodic textures combine and crescendo with a bang while the eerily tinged vocals yield emotion to compel the dancefloor. The ‘Move Power (Dub)’ ascends with a wonked out euphoric quality for an alternative trip. B-side ‘Furtherer’ is a prime example of Brett’s propensity for groove. A rolling tech cut with a tough exterior and bubbling centre, its intricate percussive patterns, bleeps that will be a certified winner on the floor worked with bizarre samples for the most mind-bending hour of the night. Born from Ralph Lawson's pandemic-era radio transmissions into distant electro worlds, Exit Planet Earth returns from hiatus with a new chapter that finds solo artist EPs replacing the various artist format that came before. Australia's Reflex Blue inaugurates this next phase and arrives with serious credentials following a run of well-received records on Kalahari Oyster Cult, Limousine Dream and Fuse. Tripped out 4/4 floorfillers and syncopated breakbeats all feature, starting with the title cut, with its snappy breaks and plunging bass and retro rave sirens. Then comes 'Entropic', which has gurgling acid and chrome-plated drums, 'Thoughts Rewired' is a cyborg deep house sound in a 90s New York style and with a throbbing bassline, then 'L.L.L' closes with a light-footed future tech sound and some old school samples and scratching. A fine return.

20:20 Vision has been defining the house underground for decades now, and much of its earlier material remains as revealing as its newer output. A case in point is this reissue of the rare Echo Beach release. Founder Ralph Lawson and his old pal Carl Finlow's recordings from The Farm in the Rhubarb Triangle retain a warmth and analogue weight that contemporary production struggles to replicate - all hands-on-deck live passes through drum machines, synths and outboard desks, the process audible in every groove. The discovery of unreleased cut 'Blues Dimensions', which was rescued from corrupted DATs, is the real find here: rasping Moog bass, P-Funk refrain and heavy Rhodes that sounds anything but archival. Top drawer excavation.

Released in Nottingham at the turn of the millennium, when the city was at the heart of an exciting underground scene, Lounging sits between trip-hop's slowed breaks and deep house's low-end drive. Drum programming is loose but controlled, with swung rhythms underpinning warm basslines and restrained chord patterns. Tracks alternate between vocal cuts featuring Gea Russell and Isi Samuel, and instrumental pieces built on short sampled phrases and repeating hooks. It's a perfect record for either pre-club or post-rave, especially on warmer days, and this anniversary edition has been remastered by Shawn Joseph. A welcome return for a low key classic.

Given the Balearic life that Leeds ex-pat Nightmares on Wax now leads in Ibiza, we have to admit we did not see this coming: the downtempo Warp legend returning to his early 90s electronic roots. He does so with a new series of collaborations with young talents on 20/20 Vision, starting with Marlon Lopez. 'Patang' is slow, snaking dub with glitchy synth patches and melodic bass. 'Cancel Dat!' has a crunchy feel next to the bleepy synths with a leggy, loopy low end and tech house snap. Wulf's Jam 4 Jamie is a deeper, more twisted version and label head RL's Get It Together remix cuts up the groove and brings a spoken word that reframes the cut as soulful I:Cube style jam.

'Bighorn' then works the filters to cook up an emotionally charged and loopy sound and 'Is It Daylight?' cuts more loose with a soulful, dusty sound that Moodymann would love. Last but not least is the cosmically charged 'The 8 Bit Slowdown' with its jazzy reed work and raw, broken, driving beats. A smart and varied four tracker from a real G.

Chez Damier and Ralph Lawson had a fruitful transatlantic hook-up decades ago in a famous farmhouse studio in West Yorkshire. The fruits of that session gave rise to some timeless jams - most notably on 2015's full length collaborative album Lost In Time - including the ones appearing here, though two have come in all-new forms. 'A Dedication to Jos', named in honour of Lawson's friend and late Back to Basics resident, is a mid-tempo sound with phased vocals pacing about the mix and a classic bassline that gets a slight Wulf Lost Tape edit. 'Thank You' then comes as a Ralph Lawson dub and has a darker energy rising from the moody bassline. Closer 'The Moment' then brings some soul with warm chord injections, supple spoken words and a cool as you like groove. An evergreen EP for sure.

The French producer stays true to his usual balance of groove and emotion while sculpting a sound that feels weightless yet grounded. It's forward thinking but with some hints of familiarity that makes it all the more engaging from the off. Side A brings the lift as 'Xpress' shimmers with euphoria, while 'Wiggy' locks into a playful, percussive swing. Flip it, and 'A Certain Era' slides into acid-touched reverie before 'Ocean Dreams' drifts home in layered, meditative bliss. This is Janeret at his best.

Drawing deeply from a rich palette of genres such as deep house, ambient, dub techno, and jazz, and feeding in inspirations from natural and philosophical spheres, Vakula's musical ethos has allowed him to continuously explore the inner and outer reaches of his universal soundscape. By feeling things out through hardware, he allows his music to grow organically, blending humanistic tendencies with technological outputs that always bring harmonious musical riches to the surface.

Ron Allen is a Toronto based JUNO Nominated music producer/songwriter/DJ and founder of legendary dance music label Strobe Records that was instrumental in developing the house and techno genres in Canada in the early 90’s. “Whispers” by The R.A.S.E. (Ron Allen Sound Experience), features melodic keys, dreamy vocals and a groovy, head-nod inducing bassline that sounds just as fresh now as it did when it was originally released in 1994.
Terrence Parker (“TP”) was born and raised in Detroit and has become legendary for his skillful turntablism style of playing House Music. Terrence has released more than 100 recordings on his Intangible Records & Soundworks label and various other international record labels. With lush keys, and soaring vocals, “Embrace (The Original Melody Vibe)” is one of the deeper cuts in the Intangible Records & Soundworks catalogue.

The project marks FNP's shift from their 'pop' roots towards a more experimental and ambient sound. Blue Hour is the most recent release from Friday Night Plans, recently signed by Modern Obscure Music. The project marks FNP's shift from their 'pop' roots towards a more experimental and ambient sound. Friday Night Plans is pioneered by singer/songwriter Masumi who has collaborated on this project with acclaimed Japanese producer Ena. Together, they have created a collection of songs that represents the quiet introspection and emotions of the AM hours, using improvisation during the production process to create a cyclical record that is described as 'dreamlike'. Masumi attributes the project to a journey consisting of fragments of memory through each song; a reflection of how nostalgia and recollection connects us to emotions.

Originally released in 2006, Rendezvous is a rare, dub techno track released by Nao AKA DJ Compufunk from Compufunk Records in Osaka. Working under the name Lovegod for the first and only time, he created a timeless epic for a live set at the legendary, short-lived underground club "United Underground ??? (Tsurunoma)".
Now revived 20 years later by Richard Akingbehin’s Kynant Records, Priori contributes a dreamy rework and Janeret slows it down into a crisp dub version to complete the EP.

For its eleventh installment, Raw Soul continues to carve out its place in the deeper end of the house spectrum, this time welcoming Stuttgart-based DJ and producer Jakob Mäder to the fold.
Titled "House Your Feeling", the five-track EP captures Mäder's wide-ranging musical language-rooted in house, yet drifting effortlessly into ambient textures, disco-tinted warmth, and subtly experimental structures. It's a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive, equally suited for late-night listening and early-morning dancefloors.
The collaboration has been a long time in the making. Built over months of close exchange, the project reflects not only a shared musical vision but also a genuine personal connection. That sense of trust and patience resonates throughout the record-carefully crafted, unhurried, and deeply felt.
Across the EP, Mäder explores different shades of house music: from reduced, dreamy cuts to more groove-driven moments, always maintaining a distinct emotional core. One of the highlights comes in the form of a collaboration with Markus Phillip, adding another layer of depth to an already rich release.
Known for his work with the Midnight Service crew and his eclectic productions spanning ambient, deep house and breakbeat, Mäder brings a refined yet playful touch to Raw Soul's catalogue. With "House Your Feeling", he delivers a timeless contribution that feels grounded in the present while nodding to the genre's enduring legacy.

Back then, we got in touch as strangers meeting through mutual music interests on SoundCloud.
Since that moment, she has become our longest-standing regular contributor to the label. We started to get along and now cherish a great friendship.
Looking back, the release of Sabine was also a pivotal moment for us. It helped shape the artistic direction of the label, laid part of the foundation for the kind of music we wanted to curate, and opened up opportunities for the years that followed at Knekelhuis.
Sabine never received a repress — until now.
The album has been remastered by Wouter Brandenburg and is finally available again. Sounding better than ever.
