25 years on from the release of their debut LP A Nice Hot Bath With.., acclaimed English dance collective Crazy P return with their ninth studio album, Any Signs of Love.

Written and recorded in 2023, before the untimely passing of beloved frontwoman Danielle Moore, Any Signs of Love, is Crazy P at their best, crystallising three decades of unforgettable live performances, solid friendship and above all, excellent tunes.

Masters at blending a range of classic references, from underground disco to Fleetwood Mac, and making it entirely their own, the band’s drive to continually evolve as songwriters, producers, and performers is witnessed across the album’s 10 glorious new tracks. Lead single ‘Human After All, is the perfect introduction - a feel good, sultry groover, bedecked with italo-y arps, infectious piano hooks, and drenched in Balearic beats.

"During lockdown we delved deep into the Crazy P vaults to see what might be lurking in there. Plenty of buried treasure to be found, but these 2 little beauties grabbed our attention and seemed to fit well together. The lead track, If Life Could Be This Way, was a jam we had between the 3 of us, the vocal's a bit of a one take wonder from Dani, and we didn't touch it! Crazy P return with the final remixes from the When We On album. These three remixes were the exclusive new mixes on the recent digital only remix album, but it’s only fair that remixes of this quality come out on wax. Burnski personally requested the parts to Beatbox to make a mix for his own sets, but once we heard it we knew it had to find a wider audience. Burnski really knows his way around real musical parts, and has kept the vibe of the original intact but has made it his own in his superb deep house style. Bonar Bradberry is one half of PBR Streetgang and good mates with Crazy P, his mix was a staple in Ibiza last season at the PBR residency at Space, and from a few other lucky DJ’s. Finally Wolf & Lamb have always been supporters of Crazy P and repay the favour of remix with a beautiful chilled version of Wecanonlybewhoweare that features some slinky guitar licks from Slow hands.

Crazy P meet Appleblim for some Bristol 2 step soul and deep dark dub. Already a self confessed fan of the track (he included it on a dj mix for Fact) he was the perfect choice when it came to remixes. On this release we see two distinct sides to his personality, the 'Bristol Soul' mix channels the spirit of classic Soul II Soul and early Massive Attack but places it within the current crop of Bristol house mutations that follows on from his awesome 'Moonlight' track. The 'Deep Under dub' is one for dark, dub club manoeuvres that seems custom built for fabric or 9am at the Panorama Bar, I can't wait to hear this one on a proper system.

Crazy P return to 2020Vision with their first new material since the ‘Stop Space Return’ album. The MTS series is a chance for Jim & Chris to get back to basics and produce some club tracks for their in demand dj sets, before they reconvene with the rest of the band for their next album. Already making waves with both of their soloexcursions (Ron Basejam and Hot Toddy), they team up here for two perfect examples of their trademark disco and house vibes. Crazy P are quite rightly held in great esteem from some of the hippest names around, Wolf & Lamb, Jamie Jones and Tensnake to name three. They have been ploughing their own deep disco furrow for many years waiting for fashion to catch them up, and now can take the plaudits for being figureheads of this UK scene. ‘My Love’ is a superb raw house cut, that’s custom built for sweaty basement sessions, influenced by classic US house. ‘Make Me Wanna’ takes a moreunk riffs and diva vocals. Both of superb examples of the amazing Crazy P sound and have had unanimous glowing feedback from the few people lucky enough to have heard them so far.

Full Circle Vol. Two revisits label classics through a series of fresh, heavyweight remixes. Co-founder Random Factor flips Ricardo Villalobos' seminal 'Easy Lee' into bubbling electro, all lush harmonies and tremulous bass. Bobby reimagines 'Lockdown' as a moody, propulsive 4/4 club weapon and on the B-side, Fabric resident Craig Richards strips 'Convergence' into hypnotic, percussive minimalism, while Hardway Bros' acid-tinged rework of 'Digitize' delivers rumbling low-end and twisted vocal fragments.

Electro don Carl Finlow dropped 'Convergence' under his Random Factor alias back in 2005. It was a definitive showcase of the talent that continues to stand him out two decades on and is completely devoid of samples. Every note is carefully crafted as part of an emotional electro-pop classic that track gained legendary status thanks to Craig Richards, who has made it a regular in his sets at Fabric and Houghton Festival. John Tejada injects glitchy textures and stuttered vocals into his rework, and this reissue includes a subtly remastered version with improved fidelity and brand-new artwork by Finlow himself.

LA-based band ASHRR picked up plenty of new fans with their recent Sunshine Low album and now they're back with the sixth single from it and it comes with some seriously heavyweight names on the remix. Chicago house pioneer Ron Trent does his thing to 'Please Don't Stop The Rain' by going super deep, spine tingling and heady with some lush arps and distant guitar twangs adding a Balearic feel. 20/20 Vision and Crazy P continue their long and fruitful relationship with a fourth volume of carefully curated and super-fresh new cuts as part of this fine ongoing series. Scandi-disco don Ray Man opens up with typically lush cosmic melodies and loose-limed nu-disco beats with more than a hint of funk. Tigerbalm then heads into a tropical oasis with 'Cosmic Union' (feat Joy Tyson) which has Afro rhythms and steamy vocals bringing the heat. Ruf Dug shows his multi-genre chops again with 'Vape Quarter Rhythm' which is part proto-house cut and part dreamy Italo bliss out with rave whistles and hands-in-the-air chords. Luther Vine's Fragments Of Reality and its various artists series have been a real doozy for 20/20 but now the sub-label offers up a first solo EP. It is Snad who gets the gig and he is a house producer from Berlin making big waves right now. This one follows outings on Chicago's Kimochi Records, Chez Damier's Courtesy of Balance and the Dungeon Meat label and is another raw, stripped-back offering of tough house. 'Bootlickerz' is a bristling cut ready for the peak time, 'Goobernatorial Candidacy' has a more stripped-back but just as compelling groove and 'Per Savour' goes deep into late-night goodness before closer 'Butt Heads' picks up the pace once more.

Exit Planet Earth continues its exploration of the world of electro universe with an expansive, extended six track EP, featuring The Advent x Zein Ferreira, DeFeKT, London Modular Alliance, Konertymi and Zobol. The Advent, whose weekly Gardening Club residency in the mid-90s helped to drag electro out of the realms of the retro and back into the future, team up with Zein Ferreira for a Kraftwerk-on-speed extended mix of 'CarpeDiem', before London Modular Alliance's more moderately paced but still squiggle and bleep laced 'Lump of Coal' plus a 'beats' breakdown for the DJs. The B-side brings us the acid-powered 'Pulssi' by Konerytmi, the bouncy, breakdance-friendly 'Radar' by DeFeKT, and the relatively pure, optimistic sonics of Zobol's 'Data Wars'. Thumbs up all round.

Volume One kicks things off in style with a brand new track from Crazy P themselves, 'People (We Can Transform)', a slinky medium paced groove run through with a slowly opening acid line, funky guitars and an uplifting vocal. Originally from France and now based in Berlin Isolated Material has dropped a steady run of heavy hitting releases on labels including; Brokntoys, Haws, Ukonx, 909 Connection and Mind Controlled Rectifier before joining us for his debut EP on 20/20 Vision.

'Hidden Node' kicks off the wax with a jarring excursion of futuristic breaks and abrasive sound design firing on all cylinders with complex drum patterns, bleeps and glitches. 'Asynchronous Funk' sees Isolated Material serve up an abstract slice of electro funk with a solid broken beat groove peppered with unexpected moments of off-kilter magic.

On the flip side - title track 'Hidden Node' offers up a dose of Drexciyan inspired funk primed for a set on the dark side of the moon with; high octane breaks, quick fire drum programming, intricate synth patterns and ominous undertones. Subb-an returns to 20/20 Vision with 'State Of Flow' featuring vocals from Oli Gosh (Crosstown Rebels). Ash Subhan has been an integral part of the deep house and techno scenes over the last decade and more with releases for One Records, Spectral and Culprit.

'State Of Flow' is a beautiful slice of deep techno that incapsulates atmospheric layers of melodies and vocals with powerful bottom heavy bass and percussive floor control. SOF is the first collaboration between Subb-an and singer songwriter Oli Gosh and has resulted in new directions and musical landscapes.ASOF comes complete with remixes from Adam Pits and Armec.
Adam Pits delivers a devious little gem aimed at dance-floor destruction that winds it's way between a heavy garage bassline and 90's four to floor house rhythms, fragmenting the vocal around an increasingly unhinged and infectious groove. It's fusion served at it's finest and a super fresh sound perfectly placed for the current club scene.

Armec accentuates and expands the immense power hidden in 'State Of Flow' by breakin' the beats up and adding heavily swung filtered loops snaking around a massive bass. ATAXIA & Mister Joshooa kick off with 'Subversive' - a slick tripped-out breakbeat-driven jam from Detroit's Marble Bar and TV Lounge residents. It's a powerful and expertly programmed production with a barrage of drums and bass held down by an array of ricocheting synth and vocal FX, tried and tested on Detroit's most discerning dancefloors. Next up Harrison BDP let's loose with 'Dirty Mochyn', a 90's inspired roller from the prolific producer featuring his signature dubby sound design, synth licks and a throbbing bassline.

Strap yourselves in, as the flip side opens with a deep house composition from hotly tipped Leeds based producer Adam Pits. 'Pat On The Back' sucks you into a wormhole of bubbling music with cosmic pads swirling around the stereo field and a beautifully expressive synth line - finished to perfection with a highly swung TR909 groove. The record is then perfectly balanced by Berlin based Keisuke with 'Ok Taiko' - a deep driving house track following hot on the heels from his killer debut EP on Phonica White. 'Ok Taiko' oozes with TB303 goodness and nostalgia-evoking piano stabs, all strung together with an ever evolving house rhythm.

Two foundational releases from Toronto's Strobe Records get a well-deserved reissue on the Clone Classic Cuts series, spotlighting a pivotal moment in North American dance music. While often overshadowed by the Detroit and New York scenes, Toronto's underground in the early '90s was brewing its own potent blend of house and techno - and these tracks are prime examples of that cross-border synergy. The Hayden Andre Project's contributions sit at the perfect intersection of tribal house rhythms and the emotive, machine-driven pulse of early Detroit techno. There's a raw elegance here - a sense of deep groove layered with just the right amount of percussive tension. It's no surprise that these tracks became staples in the crates of DJs both then and now. The production feels timeless, with hypnotic arrangements that still command the floor over three decades later. On the flip, Kingdom Come, another alias of Ron Allen, delivers lush, blissed-out house music that channels the soulful energy of New York's golden era while adding a uniquely Canadian sensibility. Allen's piano work, layered with warm pads and swinging drums, gives these tracks an unmistakable vibe - equal parts deep house ecstasy and garage swagger. It's the sound of 3 a.m. euphoria, of packed dance floors and emotional peaks. This reissue not only shines a light on the underrated Toronto scene but also remind us just how global and interconnected house music was becoming in the early '90s. For both collectors and newcomers, these are essential cuts - testaments to a moment when boundaries between cities and styles were blurred in the name of dance.

ANORAX sticks to its’ #eatsleepmantra with the reissue of the perennially in demand TIGHTEN UP by Melbourne soul disciples THE BAMBOOS. The track - a catchy as you like instrumental slant on Archie Bell & The Drells USA #1 million selling smash from 1968 - was originally released in 2006 on Kenny Dope and Keb Darge’s KAY-DEE label. It immediately became a favourite in Soul & Acid Jazz circles, and it’s’ popularity rapidly spread across all dance genres, THE BAMBOOS main man LANCE FERGUSON showed genius by ditching the idea of vocals and lyrics in a composition hailed by Rolling Stones magazine “as one of the greatest songs of all time” and instead coming up with the quirky irresistible instrumental we all love. Funky flute anyone? The Kay Dee 45 was reissued some years ago but enduring demand has outstripped supply. Limited edition press so grab em while you can….

Hifi Sean drops a moment we all need in our lives right now. Full on ‘Sly & the Family Stone’ meets ‘gospel’ vibes to lift even the weariest of hearts. Sunrise / sunsets all catered for.

In 2021 Sean released his iconic remix of the Fire Island version of ‘Shout To The Top’ on his Plastique label which sold out in a week on vinyl and then the 2nd pressing did the very same. ‘Waiting For The Sun’ is his first vinyl 12-inch release on his label since then.

Sean tells us 'I wanted to make the positive, the most uplifting, the most euphoric track I could muster. I was walking my dogs one morning and this nursery rhyme style phrase kept going round in my head and I rushed home and started to write it. Musically it’s taken me a year on and off to get it where I want with all the right musicians and singers. I was in no rush as I just wanted to make for myself the perfect sounding record and basically just get what was in my head nailed. Some might see this as a summer record but for me it is more a song about hope and always knowing whatever is putting you in a dark place at that certain time that the next day can take a completely different turn and bring that light back into your World'.

In 1969 Duo Ouro Negro went on tour to the United States. Their experience there was decisive for what we would come to know three years later.
“Don't forget your blackground” Raul Indipwo would exclaim in 1972, the voice of ‘Blackground’, the Angolan band's landmark album. Awakened to the activism of Black Power, attentive to the jazz that was being created on American soil, combined with an interest in the independence movements of the African colonies, what was then the most international of Portuguese bands recorded an album in Lisbon that was a vibrant cultural statement through music. In 1981, “Blackground” was revised with new arrangements, including the instrumental “Iemenjá” and “Aruandaí”.
