20/20 Vision marks its 30th anniversary with another great release here in the form of some remixes of Crazy P's iconic single 'Stop Space Return'. The late Danielle Moore's unmistakable vocals shine across two stellar reworks from Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy who infuses her cosmic, acid-laced disco energy into the track. Her Cosmodelica Remix and Dub version blend trippy 303s, cowbells and deep grooves into something suitably fresh. Also included are two classic Unabombers mixes from 2009, and they offer raw house heat and dubbed-out psychedelia that serves as a fine floor-focused reinterpretation of a beloved anthem.

"During lockdown we delved deep into the Crazy P vaults to see what might be lurking in there. Plenty of buried treasure to be found, but these 2 little beauties grabbed our attention and seemed to fit well together. The lead track, If Life Could Be This Way, was a jam we had between the 3 of us, the vocal's a bit of a one take wonder from Dani, and we didn't touch it! It featured in our set and was the title of our last tour Nov 2021".

Crazy P return with the final remixes from the When We On album. These three remixes were the exclusive new mixes on the recent digital only remix album, but it’s only fair that remixes of this quality come out on wax. Burnski personally requested the parts to Beatbox to make a mix for his own sets, but once we heard it we knew it had to find a wider audience. Burnski really knows his way around real musical parts, and has kept the vibe of the original intact but has made it his own in his superb deep house style. Bonar Bradberry is one half of PBR Streetgang and good mates with Crazy P, his mix was a staple in Ibiza last season at the PBR residency at Space, and from a few other lucky DJ’s. Finally Wolf & Lamb have always been supporters of Crazy P and repay the favour of remix with a beautiful chilled version of Wecanonlybewhoweare that features some slinky guitar licks from Slow hands.

Crazy P meet Appleblim for some Bristol 2 step soul and deep dark dub. Already a self confessed fan of the track (he included it on a dj mix for Fact) he was the perfect choice when it came to remixes. On this release we see two distinct sides to his personality, the 'Bristol Soul' mix channels the spirit of classic Soul II Soul and early Massive Attack but places it within the current crop of Bristol house mutations that follows on from his awesome 'Moonlight' track. The 'Deep Under dub' is one for dark, dub club manoeuvres that seems custom built for fabric or 9am at the Panorama Bar, I can't wait to hear this one on a proper system.

20/20 Vision and Crazy P continue their long and fruitful relationship with a fourth volume of carefully curated and super-fresh new cuts as part of this fine ongoing series. Scandi-disco don Ray Man opens up with typically lush cosmic melodies and loose-limed nu-disco beats with more than a hint of funk. Tigerbalm then heads into a tropical oasis with 'Cosmic Union' (feat Joy Tyson) which has Afro rhythms and steamy vocals bringing the heat. Ruf Dug shows his multi-genre chops again with 'Vape Quarter Rhythm' which is part proto-house cut and part dreamy Italo bliss out with rave whistles and hands-in-the-air chords. This one follows outings on Chicago's Kimochi Records, Chez Damier's Courtesy of Balance and the Dungeon Meat label and is another raw, stripped-back offering of tough house. Exit Planet Earth continues its exploration of the world of electro universe with an expansive, extended six track EP, featuring The Advent x Zein Ferreira, DeFeKT, London Modular Alliance, Konertymi and Zobol. The Advent, whose weekly Gardening Club residency in the mid-90s helped to drag electro out of the realms of the retro and back into the future, team up with Zein Ferreira for a Kraftwerk-on-speed extended mix of 'CarpeDiem', before London Modular Alliance's more moderately paced but still squiggle and bleep laced 'Lump of Coal' plus a 'beats' breakdown for the DJs. The B-side brings us the acid-powered 'Pulssi' by Konerytmi, the bouncy, breakdance-friendly 'Radar' by DeFeKT, and the relatively pure, optimistic sonics of Zobol's 'Data Wars'. Thumbs up all round.

Two foundational releases from Toronto's Strobe Records get a well-deserved reissue on the Clone Classic Cuts series, spotlighting a pivotal moment in North American dance music. In 1969 Duo Ouro Negro went on tour to the United States. Their experience there was decisive for what we would come to know three years later.
“Don't forget your blackground” Raul Indipwo would exclaim in 1972, the voice of ‘Blackground’, the Angolan band's landmark album. Awakened to the activism of Black Power, attentive to the jazz that was being created on American soil, combined with an interest in the independence movements of the African colonies, what was then the most international of Portuguese bands recorded an album in Lisbon that was a vibrant cultural statement through music. While his debut album "By Your Side"'s release was announced for September the 17th, Breakbot introduces the fruity "One Out Of Two" featuring the faithful vocal performer, Irfane, embellished with remixes from DJ Sneak, Oliver and Get A Room!. The french TV show, Le Grand Journal, selected this track as the sound signature for the Cannes Festival. The vinyl includes also "Program", a tiny biscuit sound, unveiled online on the occasion of his first live performance at the Coachella Festival. Breakbot's shiny funky pop will rock 2012's summer, waiting for the album and next live shows in festivals (Calvi, Dour, Les Vieilles Charues, We Love Green…).
