With influences ranging from early house and disco to turntablism and techno, Dallas, TX's Brett Johnson successfully straddles the line between knowledgable "thinking man's" DJ and genuine, primal floor-filler. Brett's sound is best known as groovy, bumping house with a hearty dose of techno elements, crafted and mixed in a way that is truly identifiable as his own. Over the past ten years Brett has released serious, futuristic sounding house music on numerous labels including Classic, Freerange, Lazy Days, and Brett's own Aesoteric and Bang The Box imprints. Denver's Full Flavor Music is honored to have Brett on board for its latest release, the Someday EP.

Track list - A SIDE - SING WITH ME AA SIDE - SPEAKING JAPANESE
Sing With Me:
Much in the same vein of the Mannheim house sound made popular by artists like Johnny D, Nick Curly, Christian Burkhardt etc..Brett's gives us a deep but driving track centered around an African boy singing. Brett chops the sample up to create a choir of ethereal voices to support the boy's singing. As the track progresses it takes a left turn into weirdville through some dramatic synth tweaks & sweeps. This track is perfect for anyone who likes to dance standing up, with their head down and first firmly in the air.
Speaking Japanese:
Many people will tell you learning to speak Japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and they're right. Lucky for you, Brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. The core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by Get Physical owner and artist MANDY. They were kind enough to let Brett use the sample and run wild with it. The result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. All of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a Japanese after party somewhere in Shibuya.

brett johnson - Jack

brett johnson - Noisy Neighbours
The third Edible release comes from a producer we’ve admired for many, many years. A consistent and truly dependable master of the jackin’ groove since the late 1990s, Brett Johnson has flexed his musical muscle for some of our favourite labels. Singles for Derrick Carter’s Classic, DJ Sneak’s Magnetic, Freerange and Visionquest have been record box staples for Eats Everything over the years, so it’s a big fat hello and welcome to Brett on the ‘Snack Attack’ EP. Lead cut, ‘Jack’, gets all playful, its nursery rhyme lyrical twist providing a most memorable dialogue over a killer house production. Jack by name, jack by nature, Brett throws all the right ingredients for a modern day ‘boompety’ vibe. And if the vocal is not quite your thing, a ‘Dub Mix’ does what it says on the tin, with added raw flavor! ‘Noisy Neighbours’ on the flip is another high-octane house barnstormer; a deft funky disco loop sits squarely in big room production, coming across like a classic Danny Tenaglia joint on +3, its wandering bassline and techno chops will no doubt blow a few brain cells when collided with a dark room and a strobelight!

brett johnson - "The Mission"
Legwork's 2nd single comes from another one of our Texas compatriates, the indelible Brett Johnson, fresh off some amazing work on Classic, Get Physical, Rawax and other killer imprints. The Mission harks back to some of our favourite dub-techno moments, but keeps it's own flare with Brett's signature robo-rhythms and chopped and screwed vocal cuts. On the remix tip, it's label head Lance DeSardi & Convextion bringing their own flavour to the table respectively, with Lance stepping to the chord memory, deep bass, and over sampled drums, and Convextion going all the way out into hyper space with his usual sub-aquatic space funk.

Brett Johnson, - Furtherer
Dallas native Brett Johnson has been in the business of blowing up dancefloors for quite some while employing multiple guises. As producer, DJ and label owner, Brett has deftly crossed boundaries over house, techno disco and R&B delivering a cascade of benchmark releases for well over a decade including ‘Stucco Homes’ on Classic, ‘Temptation and Lies’ from album project with David Barker and his momentous remix of Scooper & Bubba ‘I’m Satisfied’. Brett has also been running own imprint Bang The Box with close friend Lance DeSardi since 2007. A-side ‘Move Power’ featuring the enigmatic vocals of Andre Lewis aka Ellipsis is a peak time banger with lashings of cutting edge soul. Always exploring futuristic house sounds, Brett fuses leftfield modern magic with analogue keys and otherworldly FX to create a musical head-trip for the senses. Big percussion, tough rhythms, twisted acid lines and complex melodic textures combine and crescendo with a bang while the eerily tinged vocals yield emotion to compel the dancefloor. The ‘Move Power (Dub)’ ascends with a wonked out euphoric quality for an alternative trip. B-side ‘Furtherer’ is a prime example of Brett’s propensity for groove. A rolling tech cut with a tough exterior and bubbling centre, its intricate percussive patterns, bleeps that will be a certified winner on the floor worked with bizarre samples for the most mind-bending hour of the night. Visionquest proudly welcome to the fold one of modern dance music favourite son's.

Full Flavor Music is honored to welcome Wyndell Long onto the label with the Shikago Love 2 track EP. A devoted music fiend since the age of 7, Wyndell Long grew up on a steady diet of black radio during the P-Funk era in Chicago. In college Long befriended Mike Dearborn, then releasing records on DJAX, who passed the early Wyndell Long productions to Pete Hutchison over at Peacefrog Records in London. Long was immediately signed to Peacefrog which began a series of techno/tech-house singles throughout the 90's that garnered much praise in Europe and the US. Labels such as Primate, Soma, R&S, and DJAX also caught on to Wyndell Long, leading to his tracks appearing regularly in the sets of some of the biggest global DJ names. Long's debut with Full Flavor Music is intentionally 'Old School' sounding, sure to lead folks straight to the dance floor. "Always Keep It Wet" is a simple 'jack' track … it's pure Chicago, no studio tricks or high sampling rates. "Shikago Love" is the result of experiments with timing. The bassline and hi-hats are off the normal grid, but come together when heard in unison. There are a lot of subtle elements that move the track as something different happens about every eight bars. Analog synthesizers glide against a smoothed out high end in a way that is refreshingly pleasant to the ears, making the cut stand out amongst today's extra hot and crispy releases.

Full Flavor Music returns to close out 2011 with the mighty Compilawax Sampler. Featured on this various artists compilation are four of the best digital selling tunes the label has previously released. Two of the four songs(Pezzner and J.Phlip mixes) remained on Beatports top 50 list for 4-5 weeks solid in 2010. "Deep Inside" written by label boss Greg Campbell gets a mind melting remix by Berlin based J.Phlip, who has previously released several top selling releases on the Dirtybird label. J.Phlip gives her signature minimal sounding bass heavy remix where the drums and breakdown literally jump out of the song in a 3D manner. Utterly wrecking the boundaries of dance music! Up and coming American producer Matthew Brian, features "Moods", while the in-demand Pezzner gives his own take on the track, expectedly out of left field with chords and pads bent and pulled into new shapes as a bizarro vocal sample flies around on top. His genius is making this stew still work on the dancefloor, which Pezzner's mix most certainly does. Dave Barker is known for influential material on Classic Music Company,Aesoteric, and Imperial Dub Recordings as well as his critically lauded collaboration with Brett Johnson on the Seasons album Selected Moments From The Nu House. "Into The Wilderness", the cut on this sampler could very well be a theme song to a sinister spaghetti western, with a haunting lead line telling the story with animal samples howling in the background. Another up and coming producer Armbar gets "Cant Stop" remixed by Los Angeles' Joshua Heath. "Can't Stop (Music Please)" has an irresistibly bouncy bass line, some funky key work, and clever use of the original's vocal drops. The midpoint breakdown should be a DJ set highlight. Utterly smashing.
