Robert Hood returns to Rekids with ‘The Blueprint EP’ this July. Following 2020’s ‘Mirror Man’ LP on Radio Slave’s Rekids, Detroit pioneer Robert Hood returns to the label with a four-track EP of his trailblazing minimal techno. Leading the release, ‘Chroma Light’ opens with cinematic pads and pounding 4/4 patterns as twisted synthesis modulates throughout for a striking start. Followed by ‘The Majestic (Deeper Edit)’, with rattling percussion and fiercely relentless stabs, Hood shows his intent in creating propulsive, dancefloor focussed cuts across the EP. On the flip, ‘The Majestic’ takes the B1 spot, expanding on the previous track with wild synths and his signature machine-like drums before ‘Ultrasonic Room’ closes out the release with eerie atmospherics and an underlying hypnotic pulse taking centre stage. A founding member of Underground Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood is one of techno’s originators, with his decorated career spanning three decades across labels like Tresor, Peacefrog, Music Man Records, and of course, his own M-Plant.

A founding member of Underground Resistance alongside Mad Mike Banks and Jeff Mills, Robert Hood is one of techno’s originators and his decorated career spans three decades. The American artist and his M-Plant label laid down the blueprint for minimal techno and 1994’s ‘Minimal Nation’ on Axis was a definitive album that further cemented Hood’s reputation as one of the greats to emerge from the Motor City. Since then, Hood has gone on to release on many of electronic music’s best labels like Tresor, Peacefrog, Music Man Records, Dekmantel and more. After a busy few years making music and touring as Floorplan alongside his daughter Lyric, Hood now joins Rekids with an album showcasing his innate knack for crafting paired back but intricate rhythms that deliver punch and soul. Opening with the cinematic ‘Through A Looking Glass Darkly’, the album quickly flows into precise, powerful four four. There’s mesmerising cuts such as ‘Fear Not’ with its throbbing bass and spectral vocals, the twisted and off-key ‘Run Bobby, Run’, not to mention muscular tracks designed to light up dancefloors like the machine driven ‘A System of Mirrors’ or the mesmerising ‘Face In The Water’. Techno pioneer Robert Hood debuts on Rekids with a blistering release entitled ‘Nothing Stops Detroit’ ahead of an album this winter. Over the last three decades the Underground Resistance alum has continually been at the forefront of the techno genre whilst releasing on many of electronic music’s finest labels to boot. In recent years his solo outings have appeared on a select few labels such as Dekmantel, Music Man Records, not to mention his very own M-Plant. Having made appearances on Rekids in the past remixing label boss Radio Slave - both as Robert Hood (‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’) and Floorplan (‘Feel The Same’) - the Detroit originator now drops a four track release in his official debut on the label. With its machine aesthetic, ‘Nothing Stops Detroit’ is unmistakably Hood from start to finish. Precision kick drums propel the title track forward as stuttering effects and deep stabs work alongside a march band rhythm. ‘7 Mile Dog’ is next with its grainy synths and scintillating pads, making way for the meandering bassline, rattling atmospherics and trippy, oscillating top line of ‘Ignite A War’. Boccaccio Life 1987-1993 is carefully curated by resident DJ Olivier Pieters and club regular Stefaan Vandenberghe, standing as the ultimate testament to a club that was more than just a venue. Club staple tracks include dreamy excursions from Roger Sanchez under his Egotrip moniker, the relentless basement house of Circus Bells by Robert Armani on Dance Mania, an uplifting take on a hip-house cut from The D.O.C. (Portrait of A Masterpiece in the CJ Ed-Did-It Mix), a timeless remix of UK Formation's Age of Chance from 1994, and an alternate take on The Tape by Boccaccio club regular and Belgian producer Frank De Wulf, taken from his B-Sides project.

Boccaccio Life 1987-1993 is carefully curated by resident DJ Olivier Pieters and club regular Stefaan Vandenberghe, standing as the ultimate testament to a club that was more than just a venue. For those who experienced it, it was a community - a way of life. Hence the club's full name: Boccaccio Life.
This compilation stands as a testament to an innovative time in electronic music, capturing the raw, futuristic sounds of early house and techno. It sheds light on another side of Boccaccio, one that goes far beyond the short-lived New Beat scene. A carefully curated selection of 40 tracks, resonating with those who were there by offering familiar classics, while also reaching a new generation-those who never experienced it firsthand.
With tracks from Blake Baxter, Virgo, Frankie Knuckles, Tyree, and A Guy Called Gerald, the unmistakable influence of black American pioneers is clear-the originators of the firstanalog house and techno sounds. On the other hand, UK sound innovators such as The Orb and LFO bring both sharp textures and rough breakbeats to the table.
Club staple tracks include dreamy excursions from Roger Sanchez under his Egotrip moniker, the relentless basement house of Circus Bells by Robert Armani on Dance Mania, an uplifting take on a hip-house cut from The D.O.C. (Portrait of A Masterpiece in the CJ Ed-Did-It Mix), a timeless remix of UK Formation's Age of Chance from 1994, and an alternate take on The Tape by Boccaccio club regular and Belgian producer Frank De Wulf, taken from his B-Sides project.
While not always the obvious hits, these tracks have gracefully withstood the test of time, and were exclusive to Sundays at Boccaccio. Now, they are finally available to experience together in one collection, offering a timeless snapshot of a unique era.

It's safe to say that Terence Fixmer's track "Aktion Mekanik Theme", originally released on Music Man in 2003, was as much a landmark release for techno as the whole Aktion Mekanik compilation was for EBM as a genre. "As an artist who's been pushing EBM sounds into the modernity of Techno it was a logical step to do the compilation back then," Terence says. "I wanted to show my influences as a Techno artist, as Detroit sounds weren't my roots at all, but classics by Front 242, Fad Gadget, Nitzer Ebb, Crash Course In Science or Snowy Red. I met Music Man's Stefaan Vandenberghe through Emmanuel Top in '93, and of course I was a fan of his label. Music Man was obviously the perfect place for this EBM project: they are from Belgium, they knew the bands, many of them were proud of this sound. So I discussed my idea of putting out a compilation with some classic and landmark tracks from the EBM direction with Stefaan, and it got made." While Ostgut Ton now releases three new versions of "Aktion Mekanik Theme" by Kobosil, Norman Nodge & Marcel Dettmann, Music Man now reissues the original version on red 12" vinyl.

vocalist Declan McDermott for his standout new EP, Why Don’t You Believe Me? Blending
analogue hardware and live musicianship with deep, groove-driven production, the release
showcases a confident and colourful voice in contemporary underground house.
Hailing from Sydney and now based in Berlin, Declan McDermott has quietly evolved into one of the
most intriguing new names in left-of-centre house music. A lifelong instrumentalist and vintage gear
authority he shifted from producer/musician-for-hire, to step into his own spotlight after falling in love
with the hypnotic pull of late-night deep house and dub-influenced dance records. His studio work
draws on analogue synths, vintage drum machines, field recordings, and his own understated vocal
delivery, forming a sound that’s warm, textural, and effortlessly soulful. With his debut release turning
heads among selectors who value emotion as much as groove, this EP marks his development as
one to watch.
Why Don’t You Believe Me? is a slow-mo deep-house meditation wrapped in warmth and weight.
Declan and his featured vocalists lay down their spoken and vocodered vocals across minimal,
stripped-back house drums, weaving through DX7 and OBX-a melodies with subtle dubby inflections.
It’s intimate but floor-friendly - an introspective nocturnal groove that sways rather than shouts.
Next up we have a remix from the revered French luminary I:Cube who lifts the BPM and launches
the track straight onto the club floor. Leaning into cosmic-disco and classic filter house, the remix is
propelled by a rolling, hypnotic bassline and warm Rhodes chops that drive the groove along. It’s a
classy, elevated rework with the signature I:Cube balance of drive and dreaminess.
Flipping over we have the legendary NYC-based DJ Nature (founding member of Bristol’s Wild
Bunch crew and sound system) who injects raw soul into the original, keeping things crunchy, real,
and deeply felt. Clipped drums, dusty organ textures, and a warm, human touch guide this version -
equal parts basement grit and emotive mood. It’s the kind of remix that feels like it could only come
from a seasoned hand.
The EP floats to a close on a serene, atmospheric note with Yara-Kimba (Lindeman Island).
Named after Yara-Kimba, the Indigenous name for Lindeman Island in the Ngaro Nation /
Whitsundays region of Australia, given by the Ngaro people, the traditional custodians of the land
meaning ‘place of the snapper fish. Echoes of Ron Trent’s spacious, spiritual deep house permeate
the arrangement, with gentle percussion, tropical tones, and a calm-breathing groove. As Declan
says “This track is a tribute to Yara-Kimba, inspired by childhood memories, the island’s natural
soundscape, and my vision of a distinctly Australian / Oceanic house sound.”

but heady, old school but utterly contemporary with its delivery, 'Symphonie des Seins' sees two techno artists with very
di?erent formative eras converge perfectly with a razor-sharp piece of dancefloor mayhem.
Following January's 'Roy Batty' EP, Chris Liebing and Charlotte de Witte's 'Symphonie des Seins' is the last single before Liebing's thirteen-track 'Evolver' LP lands on March 27th. The 'Evolver LP' features additional collaborations with Luke Slater, Speedy J, The Advent, The Alte Stuben Modular Ensemble aka Daniel Miller, Terence Fixmer, and Pascal Gabriel and is Liebing's first solo Techno LP, having focused on long-form electronica output alongside co-writer Ralf Hildenbeutel for 2018's 'Burn Slow' and 2023's 'Another Day' for Mute Records, and the André Walter co-produced 'Evolution' in 2002.
