Swiss techno icon Deetron shows his class with a new four-track EP on Mutual Rytm's sub-label, X.
Deetron is one of the most respected producers of his time. From sleek house to deep techno, he brings impeccable sound designs and melodic elegance to his work while remaining true to his authentic signature sound. He always delivers, whether landing via labels like Ilian Tape under his Soulmate guise or via the likes of Axis and Music Man, and that quality is on show once again as he brings the class on this new EP via the sub-label of SHDW's Mutual Rytm.
First up, 'Translate Rhythms' layers jazzy, de-tuned melodies into a quick and slick deep techno groove. It's a colourful and playful sound with a serious impact. 'Cause' is a more heads-down and moody sound with walls of drums and bass rolling beneath raw percussive loops and tight vocal stabs that ramp up the energy levels. The fantastic 'Move' brings grainy pads, inescapable bass weight and bulky drum loops to make for an immovable wedge of serious concrete techno funk. Last is the digital bonus cut 'Orbit', which heads off to the stars with a deepspace
vibe, swirling pads and minimal drums that tap out a rumbling groove.
Deetron 'Translate Rhythms' drops on Mutual Rytm X on 16th August 2024 as a limited 10" vinyl release.

Mind Eclipse completes Deetron’s triptych for Running Back. After Body Electric and Ego Rave, it’s the missing part in a tale of youthful exuberance told by a seasoned raver and transported into the here and now. Taking the essence of the carefree energy of those days, its warehouses and fields minus the (sometimes!) aural clumsiness, Deetron delivers four studies in the transformation of said emotional states.
Mind Eclipse aka Trancehouzztool does exactly what it says on the tin: big synths, swirl and twirl during an extra long break down for an uproar – serotonin shower included. HG acts like an umbrella to that. Almost melancholic in its presence and meandering between highs and lows, it’s the perfect counterpoint and offset.
On the other side, Phoenix sounds like a lost Border Community hymn that found its way near a Roland 909 for peak time purposes, before The Shore closes the book in a hybrid state between electro and disco or the soundtrack to IDM supporters in a gym workout (also available in an alternative version digitally for those who like their beats straight).
It won’t eclipse your mind though that Deetron knows what he does in the studio, so expect finest artistry, crafty tricks and technical expertise. „’Til the sweatshirts are falling down of us…“

Renowned house and techno producer Deetron makes a long-awaited return to Hot Creations this April. Delivering the Glass EP, it marks his first release on the label since 2012’s remix of PBR Streetgang, continuing a standout 2022 for the Character label-head. Glass takes the form of a piano-fuelled, peak-time cut, as fast-paced hats reside next to resonant kicks throughout. It feels upbeat and danceable in one, with Chicago-like house tones bringing the Swiss talent’s musical experience to the fore. Come On Back is a similarly soulful offering, packed full of disco-esque vocals and echoing pads to create a feel-good, club-ready number. An instrumental version of both tracks is included in the EP, each of which offer a more stripped-back take on proceedings. Deetron has remained a stalwart of contemporary house and techno for more than two decades. The well-loved DJ and producer has released on several of the industry’s leading imprints, including Gerd Janson’s Running Back and Jeff Mills’ iconic Axis Records in recent times. Add to those collaborations with the likes of Jamiroquai, Honey Dijon and José Padilla, as well as a career that began in the late nineties, and you’ll quickly start to learn how Deetron has garnered a truly global standing in the scene.

A wise man once said that imagination is a quality that was given to humans to compensate them from whats not. Deetron is using that quality to lighten the load. His return to Running Back is dedicated to the art of „ego raving“. Unlike now, where dance floor prohibition seems to be inevitable, the title stems back to a time when him being underage and not a ravaging pandemic prevented Deetron from going out. Instead, him and his friends turned their respective bedrooms into party zones. Consisting of five tracks in alphanumerical order, the Swiss master craftsman distills his own personal history of house and techno into a record that is in equal parts mature, amusing, varied and useful. From emotional peak time show-stoppers to synth disco, sunrise power ballads, techno chords and bonus beats, „Ego Rave“ has everything to take you through the night. As the creator says himself: „So, this is certainly a record meant for the rave whether it be a 10k one or the home one. Rave is a feeling not tied to a place or moment in time.“ We agree. Never not raving.

Deetron’s debut EP for Running Back is an amalgam of some of the key virtues of both parties involved: the evocative and glorious power of the early days of rave (see cover art for further reference), emotional house, melodious techno, a beatless beauty and a firmly polished dance floor. Over the years, the Swiss producer has proven that his skill set and philosophy (underpinned by his mastery of the DJ trade) is perfect for such a mixture.
The EPs title track is the result of an extensive research in quiet storm soul records and their influence on traditional house music. „T-Symmetry“ and „TXT“ make extensive use of Roland’s classic JX-8P synthesizer with very different outcomes and the certainty that the idea trumps the tools. Euphoric UK breakbeat pianos and Detroit techno soul can be made with the same mind and machine as well as in any time or place. A record full of fun, finesse and fantasy. Deetron, we salute you!

Swiss DJ and producer Deetron on March 3rd 2018, and features an exclusive solo track as well as
exclusive collaborations with Steve Spacek, Jinadu and Jamie Lidell.
As one of the other most famous musical exports from his Swiss homeland, he has pretty much done it all
from fabric and Balance mix CDs to running his own label, from essential albums like Twisted and Music
Over Matter on Music Man Records to club focussed 12”s on Will Saul’s Aus Music and French label Circus
Company. After 20 years in the game, he is still in demand at key clubs around the world, and is sufficiently
respected as to be able to call on big names like Seth Troxler, Cooly G and Ben Westbeech for collaborations.
This landmark mix shows off his timeless style and passion for the nostalgic emotions associated with
Chicago and the serene machine soul of Detroit. Selected from records that have resonated with him over
the years and that continue to conjure strong feelings, it also features various vocals from friends “in the style
of a traditional mixtape,” explains the artist.
“Over the years I have worked on bringing techno and soulful vocals together and I wanted to represent that
in the mix. On the technical side of things, the mix represents my work as a producer and remixer as well as
my aim to recreate tracks using three decks when deejaying. A large part of the mix was recorded using
three decks but I also included a section which I approached more like a production or remix.“
The eighty minute mix starts with the spine tingling chills of Carl Craig’s ‘Goodbye World’ and smoothly builds
through dreamscape house from masters of the form including Gifted & Blessed, Linkwood, Soulphiction and
Mr Fingers. Often only playing a few minutes of each track with more than 35 employed in all, this is a
dynamic and ever-evolving soundtrack with masterfully blurred transitions.
The early melodic beauty of the mix slowly makes way for more propulsive drums from the likes of Morgan
Geist, Aardvarck and DJ Koze, while the mid-section gets trippy and zoned out with deep, elastic grooves.
Carl Craig then reappears with his remix of Tony Allen’s ‘Kilode’ to break up the beats and colourful keys and
smooth classic house slowly lead towards a more techno leaning crescendo with Floorplan and Derrick May
providing the blissful goods. Ending on the dissipating energies of Jessy Lanza’s ‘Strange Emotion’ is a fine
move that leaves you feeling cleansed and ready to go again.

For their 50th release, Aus Music are proud to announce that Deetron will provide a very special single-sided vinyl pressing of his new single, ‘Count on Me.’ Marking the half-century release of the label established by Will Saul in 2004 acts as reminder of the already impressive legacy left throughout the nine years of its existence. The label has not only helped to establish young producers, but also acts as a home for a truly incredible set of established artists. Particular highlights from the label’s extensive catalogue would undoubtedly include the early Sideshow and Lee Jones albums through to SCB’s 'Loss', Joy Orbison’s 'The Shrew Would Have Cushioned the Blow,’ Midland’s 'Through Motion' & 'Trace', Ramadanman & Appleblim’s 'Sous Le Sable', and also their phenomenal 'Void 23' with the Carl Craig Re-Edit, not forgetting Ramadanman & New Release Information Midland’s 'Your Words Matter', Dusky’s 'Nobody Else', 'Child' by George FitzGerald, and of course, Bicep’s 'You/Don't.’ All this has, perhaps unsurprisingly, led to Aus being one of Resident Advisor’s most charted record labels of 2013. With such a wealth of talent under its belt, Aus only felt it right to ask Deetron to mark this special occasion. As a producer, Deetron’s melodic adaptations of electronica have seen him skirt the line perfectly between the soulful and the industrial and everything else in between, appealing to both techno heads and house lovers alike.
