Lauren Lo Sung - Shroom (Youandewan Remix)
Lauren Lo Sung returns to LOCUS for her ‘Shroom’ EP, accompanied by a remix from Youandewan. Heading up LOLiFE and e1even records while dropping music via PIV, Lazare Hoche, and Rutilance, Liverpool- based Lauren Lo Sung’s blend of stripped-back, groove-heavy house has meant early nods as an artist to watch has seen her flourish into a favourite name within the UK minimal-house realm and beyond. Returning to the label for the first time since her classy ‘Miss B’ EP in 2021, and fresh from a string of worldwide dates, including her latest US and Australian tours, the end of July welcomes a return to FUSE’s sister imprint LOCUS as she serves up a pair of quality cuts across her ‘Shroom’ EP - with The Brain and Pure Shores boss Youandewan making his label debut on remix duties. Setting off via the title track, ‘Shroom’ is a slinking cut built on a rugged bassline and warping low-ends, accented by airy synths and warped vocal interjections for a lively trip. Next, second original ‘Tom & Jerry’ draws for acid stabs, hazy melodies and cosmic tones underneath the track’s alluring vox samples and video game electronics for a vibrant and playful production. Shaping up the package, the B-Side is home to Youandewan’s darker and chunky take on the lead cut, combining oddball electronics, snaking grooves, off-key interludes and neon synths for a trademark offering.

Lauren Lo Sung - B-Side The Point
Lauren Lo Sung makes her LOCUS debut as she delivers her ‘Miss B’ EP, backed by a remix from label favourite KOKO. One of the UK’s most exciting house talents, gaining stand out praise from Mixmag and DJ Mag to name just a few, Liverpool-based DJ and producer Lauren Lo Sung has established herself as one of the scene’s most in-demand ‘new names’ of recent years. With releases to date via the likes of Vatos Locos, Lazare Hoche Records and Rutilance, alongside her own blossoming imprints LOLiFE and e1even Records, her groove-laden sound has seen grace the decks across a host of renowned hotspots from Space Ibiza to Club der Visionaere, and her sharp ascent is most certainly showing no signs of slowing. After yet another impressive twelve months, 2021 welcomes her debut on London’s flourishing LOCUS as she reveals her ‘Miss B’ EP this February – backed by a remix from bubbling Italian talent KOKO, who returns having dropped the launch EP on the label. Title cut ‘Miss B’ kicks things off in a warping fashion as spiralling synths and fluttering vocal interjections meet skittering drums to offer up lively EP opener, whilst ‘Cosmic Flow’ introduces further tripped-out vocal effects atop of dubby chords and paired back, refined percussion. Next up, KOKO’s hazy and energetic take on the title cut showcases the Italian’s slick and infectious sound palette, before the aptly titled ‘B-Side The Point’ closes proceedings as Lo Sung opts for bubbling basslines, hypnotic atmospherics and snaking percussion arrangements throughout a groove-heavy peak-time closer.

Boss Priester - Wek
Boss Priester makes his LOCUS debut with his bustling four-track ‘Hotel Dijon’ EP. Working hard in the studio to develop his own take on minimal-leaning house and techno, The Hague-based DJ/ producer Boss Priester is starting to reap the rewards and emerge as another hotshot from the country’s hotbed of electronic talent. Racking up support from the likes of Dungeon Meat, East End Dubs, Michel de Hey, Dr. Banana and Alec Falconer, his releases on What NxT and Dark Side Of The Sun have accompanied appearances at the likes of Thuishaven, Colorado Charlie and Lovelee. Another fan of the young Dutchman is FUSE and LOCUS boss Enzo Siragusa, and late September brings a first appearance on the latter imprint as he makes his label debut with his four-track ‘Hotel Dijon’ EP. Title track ‘Hotel Dijon’ comes loaded with raw drum licks, cosmic synths and menacing, swirling low-ends for a heavy-hitting opener set to cause serious dance floor damage, while the slinking ‘ROF66’ mixes eerie stabs with shuffling drums and bouncy baselines for another heavyweight anthem. Next, ‘SUP01’ keeps things ticking nicely on a similar tip with yet more punchy percussion arrangements linking with playful sound design peppered with zippy FX, before closing the show with the hopped-up, bass-driven sonics of final effort ‘Wek’.

LOCUS returns with its latest VA ‘LOCUS Trax Vol. 3’, welcoming label debuts from Jamahr, Mehlor, Project89, Manuel De Lorenzi and Giacomo Silvestri. Now established as a standalone label in its own right, FUSE’s sister imprint LOCUS continues to prove itself as a go-to stop for forward-thinking and fresh house music with minimal-leaning influences from both established and emerging talent. Mennie heads to LOCUS for his label debut, delivering four slick productions across his ‘Jack & Jane’ EP. Up next, the surging talent steps out on FUSE sister imprint LOCUS for the very first time, following his recent appearance at their London home of 93 Feet East, as he delivers his four-track ‘Old Flame’ EP this May. Lead cut ‘So Bad’ kicks things off as crisp drums meet resonant stabs, sweeping melodies and infectious vocal coos, before introducing the spacey soundscapes and hypnotic pads of title track ‘Old Flame’, accented by Shyam P’s tripped-out vocals throughout. Next, ‘Orbit’ takes things up a gear as skipping percussion arrangements go to work beneath spiralling lasers and jacking hats, whilst closing track ‘Takeout’ dives into the afters as rubbery bass licks, hazy synths and rumbling low-ends take listeners on a warping UK-tinged journey through entrancing sounds.

Josh Baker - More Than Micro
LOCUS welcome You&Me boss Josh Baker this April as he delivers his ‘Slippers All Summer’ EP. A fast-rising DJ, producer, and label owner quickly becoming a favourite of many across the UK and beyond, Manchester’s Josh Baker continues developing and evolving as one of the scene’s most promising new names. Having welcomed artists such as Apollonia, Traumer, Gene On Earth, and FUSE boss Enzo Siragusa to his own events, alongside the launch of the highly acclaimed Hide & Seek Festival, late April sees the emerging talent add to releases via Constant Sound sub-label ‘Aesthetic’, Sukhumvit and his own You&Me imprint with a debut outing on LOCUS as he delivers his four-track ‘Slippers All Summer’ EP. A resonant cut fuelled by sweeping synths and rolling, organic percussion, title track ‘Slippers All Summer’ opens proceedings in fine fashion as Baker fuses rich melodies with skittering leads, whilst the driving ‘Fascinating’ combines sci-fi electronics with deep chords and warped vocal interjections. On the B-Side, slinking drums, icy hats, and rubbery stabs merge to form the slick ‘Jaffa’, before closing things out via the paired back, dubby aesthetics of the hazy ‘More Than Micro’.

Stephan Bazbaz - Voyage EP (Inc. Casey Spillman Remix)
Stephan Bazbaz heads to LOCUS to deliver his Voyage EP, backed by a remix Casey Spillman. An artist at the heart of Tel Aviv’s blossoming house and techno scene, Stephan Bazbaz continues to showcase his skills as one of the city’s leading lights within electronic music. With releases and remixes via the likes of Djebali, hedZup and INFUSE in 2020 alone, he now closes out a fruitful twelve months with an impressive label debut via FUSE imprint LOCUS to deliver three fresh cuts in the form of his ‘Voyage EP’ – whilst INFUSE regular and LOCUS alumni Casey Spillman makes a swift return to step up on remix duties. A low-slung and moody effort from the off, opening cut ‘300’ combines swinging percussion and icy hats whilst escalating synths and rumbling sub-bass take hold and transport the production firmly into the peak hours – unsurprisingly featuring as a stand-out track within Enzo’s sets over the past 12 months. Next up, ‘Key To Success’ offers up a groove-heavy roller, with tracky drums guiding off-kilter samples and rich piano flourishes throughout, whilst Casey Spillman’s interpretation ups the energy levels as he works punchy kicks, warping synths and menacing low-end tones to turn in a bustling remix. To close, ‘The Life’ showcases yet another side of Bazbaz’s vast production skills, opting for hazy synths and dreamy chords to round out proceedings in impressive fashion.

KOKO - Amor Ante Hominem Nascitur
Enzo Siragusa and FUSE launch new label LOCUS this June, with the debut EP coming via hotly tipped talent KOKO. Having recently unveiled a new-look aesthetic for his long-standing and highly influential FUSE imprint, Enzo Siragusa and the FUSE team will now turn their attention to fresh project and brand-new label - LOCUS - with the definition of the label’s namesake matching their ambition to create a new and refreshing home for exclusive underground electronic music whilst delivering high quality parties, just as FUSE has done so over the past 12 years. With an ethos of exploring all shades of house music with the dancefloor at the forefront of its thinking, LOCUS looks set to house the very best in four-to-the-floor club music from both established talents and rising stars alike, with the first EP on the label arriving this summer courtesy of Infuse regular and ever-impressing Italian DJ and producer, KOKO. Opening with the infectious ‘Chantal’ alongside Brooklyn-based vocalist Quelle Rox, the Italian’s penchant for rich and dynamic soundscapes from across the house sphere quickly becomes apparent as he fuses resonant synths and refined drum licks beneath infectious vocals for a sun-kissed opener. Next, ‘Your Ass, My Camel Blue’ welcomes fluid electric piano lines and icy hats atop of a snaking bassline, before journeying into the luscious chords, sultry rhythms and resonant sax-riffs of ‘Love in Plexiglass’. Lastup, final cut ‘Amore Ante Hominem Nascitur’ closes things out via a medley of hypnotic leads, dubby chords and shuffling percussion – shaping up a notable debut offering for LOCUS and a stellar first look into an imprint that looks set to become a new favourite for many in the months ahead. Terry Francis - Reggae's House
Rewind to 1997 and Uk's finest clubs are alight to the tech-house sounds emanating from South London. Terry Francis, a key figure in the scene, needs no introduction, Fabric resident, Wiggle co-founder, as well as part of the seminal Housey Doingz collective, 'Dubtown' was his first solo outing, all 4 tracks are instant classics, and the EP itself has become his most sought after release to date. The tracks themselves are varied and brilliant, EP opener 'Hannah's House' kicks off with an infectious bass line and builds with expertly programmed percussion. Simple yet effective riffs intertwine with warm pads and deep chord stabs. 'Hannah's Dub' strips the track down, eerie synths add a tuneful swagger without ever losing dancefloor appeal. 'As You Cry' broadens the sonic palette with swinging rhythms, crisp snares and dreamy chords that deliver the peak time funk and bump. Lastly 'Reggae's House' is a deep dub infused jam, acidic 303 touches combine effortlessly with pads and stabs, whilst echoing bursts of percussion make some real tripped out musical moments. All 4 tracks are deep winners, tweaked to maximum effect by a master of the genre. A rarity for decades now available once more. 'Dubtown' has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of Terry Francis, lovingly remastered by London's Curve Pusher from the original sources especially for Mint Condition. 100% legit, licensed and released. Dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at your favourite reissue label - Mint Condition!!

Lunar Disco - Devil's Hands (Anthony Middleton Remix)
Australia-based duo Lunar Disco land on Crosstown Rebels with new single ‘Devil’s Hands’, remixed by house heavyweights Luciano and Anthony Middleton‘Devil’s Hand’ is a low-slung and sleazy take on indie disco. The bass is rough, with wild guitar ri?s adding an extra layer next to the swinging, macho disco drums, while Kate’s steamy vocal brings inviting human soul as psyched-out guitars add a spaghetti western-style energy. The track then comes as a ‘Dirty Club Mix’ by Lunar Disco and Rebellion signee TAYA., opting for a rubbery groove for the back room, with moody bass and electronic pulses taking it deep into the night. Swiss-Chilean minimal maestro, long-time cult underground hero, and Cadenza boss Luciano heads up the B-side as he draws on his Latin heritage to cook up intricate percussive grooves across his remix to lock in listeners. His drums are rolling but heavy, and the claps and hits are layered carefully into an infectious tangle that never lets up. As both one half of Audiofly and on his own, final remixer Anthony Middleton has been at the heart of the house scene for many years, featuring as a vital presence in Ibiza each summer. His remix is sparse, with cosmic synths unfolding over elastic drums and bass. It’s subtle but emotionally intense and will make for a perfect late-night trip.

Nina Kraviz - Taki Talk (Sterac Electronics Remix)
Nina Kraviz returns to Rekids with remixes of ‘Taxi Talk’ from David Löhlein and Sterac Electronics. In the years since Nina Kraviz dropped some of her earliest music on Radio Slave's Rekids, she has become a bonafide global superstar. Founding two record labels ???? (trip) and Galaxiid, she regularly headlines the world's largest music festivals and has continued to stay at the forefront of electronic music. 'Taxi Talk', initially released on Kraviz’s lauded eponymous debut LP in 2012, still stands the test of time with its spoken word vocals and smoky deep house grooves. Remixing the track alongside its reissue is Vision Ekstase founder and Lehmann Club resident David Löhlein who turns in a fresh remix, and Dutch techno mainstay Steve Rachmad, who unearths a remix made under his Sterac Electronics guise that had, until recently, been unreleased. Löhlein’s remix sees the Stuttgart-based artist reach for his trademark ’snake sound’, delivering a sleek version flipped into a quick and urgent cut with pulsating synths and dynamic minimal drum funk. Sterac Electronics brings a distinctive sense of electric funk with a boogie-tinged remix full of colourful synths and hip-swinging drums that cannot fail to light up the floor.

‘EP12’ stays true to committing Defected’s biggest digital releases to wax, delivering a package of house heat previously unavailable on vinyl. Spanish production maestro David Penn takes over the A-Side, kicking things off nicely with supercharged vocal house cut ‘Lift Your Hands Up’ featuring Ramona Renea. David’s hand-clapping, piano riffing production style continues on his remix of Idris Elba & Inner City’s red-hot collab ‘No More Looking Back’, brimming with summertime energy. On the B-Side, another close friend of Defected Riva Starr takes control. Featuring London vocalist Phebe Edwards, the original version of ‘Love Divine’ opens, with menacingly gradual builds, bubbling synths and spectacular organ breakdowns. The Funk Mix follows, deeper and groovier while continuing to showcase Riva’s intuitive, multi-faceted production at its finest.

Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Hot Creations welcomes a loaded new EP as Andre Salmon, Michael Joseph and Lexlay collaborate across four tracks for their ‘Momii’ EP. Home to stand-out collaborations such as Todd Terry and Riva Starr’s recent ‘This Is The Sound’ through to classics such as Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers’ ‘Bappi’, Hot Creations has always been a platform and label pairing unique and exciting artist combinations with impressive results. Closing July, the label now invites a stacked selection of artists for a big collaborative release as label signee Andre Salmon returns for his second release on the imprint and combines with Orlando’s Michael Joseph and Barcelona’s Lexlay, also featuring Figio, Francis Davila and Cami Jones. The three main featured artists take the helm on the title track ‘Momii’ for a skippy and slick lead e?ort, while Salmon and Joseph link with Milan’s Figio’s for the snaking, percussion-driven ‘Aquarium’. Next, the three lead names unite once more and combine rumbling low-ends and lively hats on the bubbling ‘Left Hand’, before Salmon and Joseph once again link with fresh talent as Francis Davila joins the party, working warping synths and rolling drums around the alluring vocals of Cami Jones.

Matisa - Lip Plumper
Steel City Dance Discs presents the ‘Wonder’ EP from fast-rising Italian artist Matisa. Fresh and filled with spirit, Matisa kicks off the EP with the transcendent, IDM-meets-Bingo Beats energy of ‘Brilliantine’, where twisted modulations fuse in harmony with angelic abstract vocals. Her original ‘Eyeliner’ is a euphoric breakbeat hardcore stomper, whilst Mall Grab’s take on the same track goes in harder with jacking drums, ecstatic rave stabs and menacing bass. Closing the EP is ‘Lip Plumper’ – a hypnotic stripped-back house cut which nods to UKG. This EP represents a significant moment in Matisa’s musical journey, as she evokes a combination of discovering yourself through creative expression with losing yourself on the dancefloor.

Sam Alfred - Lovin U
There have been more than murmurs about Sam Alfred lately. The 22-year-old Naarm-based producer has been on quite the tear, releasing a slew of dreadnought records. Born in Egypt with a proud South Sudanese background, Sam brings a worldly essence to the Australian club landscape. already, the young producer has fashioned a distinctive energy to his sets and songwriting, one full of joy and fervour. Needless to say, folks are picking up what he’s putting down. Next up is his Suzuka EP, a bullish 4 tracker that we’re proud to emblazon with the Gallery insignia. A bundle of tunes that call to charged dancefloors and the unshackling of day-to-day stresses. Opening with force, we’re greeted by the title record ‘Suzuka’. Made up of a mean kick, euphoric synth strokes and hyper 808s, this one doesn’t let up. As beastly as ‘Suzuka’ is – there’s a warm and inviting undercurrent, an encouragement to gather your crew and party well into the wee hours. No doubt, DJs from both hemispheres will send crowds hopping mad with this bullet train. You only need to take a look at his sold-out Boiler Room HERE to see the stir this armament creates. Second, in line is ‘Salzburg’. An ode to 90’s rave culture, the track canters along with glee, full of fuzzed-out pads and a roaring vocal sample. Spliced throughout are galactic whirls that serve as perfect interludes to what’s an all-out riot. Tumbling over to the B-side, we come ear-to-ear with ‘Auckland's Groove’. Having been out since early December, this piano-laden roller continues to shine. Bringing a lovely buoyancy to the tune are squelchy kickdrums and lively sirens. A nod to Alfred’s skills in composition and ability to brew certain moods. Rounding out the body of work, ‘Lovin U’ comes into land. Defined by an enticing two-step rhythm, whirring synth play and sundry percussion, Sam signs out with serious polish. An honest and skilful interpretation of house that’s built to get people moving. Sam Alfred’s music is one of energy, celebration and satisfaction and this is an ideal ending.

Evelyn - Pregunta
Evelyn spreads her wings and prepares to fly. This is her first offering for the ESP Institute. On side A, 'Tremors' slams together a plethora of seemingly disparate rhythms, organic percussion, field samples, hypnotic chants and a relentless low end punch, that when in full-swing, works some seriously deep sorcery. Contrasting her pounding kick and rolling sub combo are a softer grouping of melodies, soft mallets and muted tones that lay subtly beneath the aggression, skillfully playing with a sense of spatial depth and room size. Its the kind of track that draws you in with meditative bars, concentric cycles that sit ever so slightly off-axis, inducing the mind and body to obsess and regulating its timing, and then drops you into a very intentionally arranged soundstage giving expansive space to explore. On the flip, 'Pregunta' continues this approach of natural versus industrial instrumentation. The consistent machine kick has a powerful but playful tone, the negative space between each stroke evoking a mighty gesture as its note bends in the decay. Set in 3/4, a community of live percussion successively adds and subtracts, each player’s imperfect attack accumulating into a mechanically smeared and addictive loop that toys with peaks a handful of times yet restrains any unnecessary climax for the betterment of a driving groove. Near the end, as the kick and various players mute and the base of the track is given a moment to breathe, its apparent just how layered the production was in the moments prior, as we’re suddenly at home, smitten with the wobbly and lopsided innocence of the foundational percussion. These two songs will push you headfirst into the light.

Close your eyes and merge into Benedikt Frey’s 'Fastlane'. Imagine sitting in the driver’s seat of a an automobile, one with exceptional horsepower and torque, as you stare out the windshield at the red light, warping in fata-morgana a mile down the road. It’s a straight-away, a black top with two lanes, and against your better judgment you decide to floor the gas. No hesitation in your muscle, your ankle or the ball of your foot, which you now realize is some kind of universal pivot, the first point of contact fusing your body with the will of machine. In this moment you’re in awe that you, a human, an animal, grew from pond scum into something so advanced as to engineer this thing, a mechanical beast capable of overwhelming power and exhilaration. But you also feel a seductive dread, an outside force diverting you from caution toward a dangling carrot of curiosity, asking yourself, ‘How far can I take this thing?’ The dread, now a constant, is numbed, equalized by an adverse intoxicating gratification. You feel both sensations in real time, however, rather than take responsibility for yourself, friends, family and innocent bystanders, you cement your foot to the floor and lean your head back. Noise around you fades to mute. Smell the benzene-scented air, feel the wind on your face, the menacing vibration of the vessel you control beneath you and every grain of asphalt under its tires. This mile has now lasted an eternity and you’ve left your body for some objective view, as if watching climax of a film. Past the point of no return, you embrace abandon and lean into fate. The film becomes slow motion, a crawling pace so mesmerizing you convince yourself of an option to eject yourself from this madness, but as you finally let go of your last morsel of fear, you run the red light head-on into the nucleus of a fantastic glistening sculpture of torn metal, glass, oil, broken dreams and heartache. 'Fastlane' may be just drum machines and synthesizers if you’re timid, but listen harder and know the catastrophic reality of existence, a wreckage so gruesome we dare not rubberneck, but afterall it is our nature to stare.
