Guy Gerber is proceeding where he has stopped with his latest releases on Cocoon and NiteBeat and is fathoming the borders of Tech House further on. 'Belly Dancing' comes extremely organic and lively, with almost Disco-like bass lines and key harmonies, and reminds here and there of early Chicago House from Trax Records. Mister Fingers beamed to Ibiza 2007! It is almost frightening how easy Guy Gerber switches between genres and outrightly plays with them. Also the flipside is impressing, reminding of Isolée's 'Beau Mot Plage' or 'Rej' by Âme. This will definitely cause some excitement in New York House clubs. Definitely one of the first big House tunes in 2007 and one of THE House highlights on Cocoon Recordings. A step away from 'This is Balagan' indeed, but into the right direction. We are anxious of what will happen next.

Ibadan announces the release of a new remix by Dennis Quin of Kerri Chandler & Jerome Sydenham ft. Troy Denari - You're In My System on vinyl in December, 2019.

Quin, a self-professed house addict and die-hard Kerri Chandler fan since the early nineties, had been searching for a new vocalist to work with. He turned to Simon Birkumshaw, label manager and A&R of Chandler's Madhouse Records, who recommended Troy Denari, the original vocalist of the classic Ibadan track "You're In My System". When Denari revealed that had just resung the vocals, Quin was inspired to remix the track.

Quin's aim with this remix was to update the track for his sets and give it contemporary production values in line with his current digital sets. "It's always tricky to put your hands on a huge record like this," he says. "It's a legendary track that everyone knows, so I was extremely careful in terms of mixing, timing, and all the rest." The result is a modern version of the classic that is very true to the original. At the same time, Quin makes his mark by bringing his own drum and percussion into the mix.

The remix versions cover all the bases for various digital distribution formats, including atmospheric dub, club and instrumental mixes, plus a special three-minute edit for Spotify.

Working together for the first time, the members of the musical team were excited to exchange their ideas. "Troy, Kerri, Jerome and I have gained so much out this intense collaboration. It has developed into a deep friendship that is all about house music, good vibes and pride in our achievements. Each of us is fulfilled by our individual roles in this project. I'm really proud to be part of this family."

Christine Pedersen, managing director of Ibadan Records, is excited about Quin's first release on the label. "It's always a pleasure to welcome new and talented collaborators into the fold. And I love the new vocal. Troy's singing brings a fresh spin to the track."

The first Wolf + Lamb release of the new decade comes from the young and gifted Nicolas Jaar, who gives the world ‘Time For Us.’ Dreamt up this summer while living at the Marcy, Wolf + Lamb’s infamous fake hotel, Nicolas Jaar gives us two slow and enveloping productions, adding a new dimension to his signature sound. “I think both tracks evoke a new American in me, or the one that never left while I was in Santiago. ‘Mi Mujer’, with its Spanish title and lyrics was inspired by the countless Puerto Ricans and Dominicans hanging out near the Marcy.”‘Time For Us’ too has embodies this new American, his lyrics sung in English for the first time. The track’s tempo slides down the scale at its peak and sensual deep spoken passages ooze through the gaps. “’Time For Us’ was an instant classic, even though it's quite different from what we would normally feature as an 'A' side, we were both pretty sure about it as soon as we heard it,” says Zev, one half of Wolf + Lamb, “It feels like Nico's departure from making electronic or dance music into more of a songwriter.” An intimate track, ‘Time For Us’ moves away from formulaic club music and inspires with its dynamic approach. “Its different from my other releases in that it comments on club culture as much as it praises it,” says Nico. Seth Troxler has laced it with admiration and the record was more than in tune with the environment when unleashed at Burning Man this summer. New York born Nicolas Jaar was raised in Chile until the age of 11 before returning stateside. At 19 he stands head and shoulders above similar breakthrough producers of the moment. Art Alfie joined the Toy Tonics crew ! You know him from Studio Barnhus. He released his album last on Axel Boman's label last year and a couple of hot tracks with longtime partner Mr. Tophat before that.

His first EP for Toy Tonics features 3 of the sweetest bangers he did till now. What a wonderful vibe! And the remix ... Killer. By Stockholm’s amazing newcomers Mount Liberation Unlimited (who just released an EP on Permanent Vacation).

Art Alfie is busy these days: besides his involvement with Toy Tonics he started a own label (Velvet Pony). Info: It's not often that silly, boyish dreams come true. But, if you take a closer look at our past 12 months, dreams seem to come true every other day. We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step.
