The first Wolf + Lamb release of the new decade comes from the young and gifted Nicolas Jaar, who gives the world ‘Time For Us.’ Dreamt up this summer while living at the Marcy, Wolf + Lamb’s infamous fake hotel, Nicolas Jaar gives us two slow and enveloping productions, adding a new dimension to his signature sound. “I think both tracks evoke a new American in me, or the one that never left while I was in Santiago. ‘Mi Mujer’, with its Spanish title and lyrics was inspired by the countless Puerto Ricans and Dominicans hanging out near the Marcy.”‘Time For Us’ too has embodies this new American, his lyrics sung in English for the first time. The track’s tempo slides down the scale at its peak and sensual deep spoken passages ooze through the gaps. “’Time For Us’ was an instant classic, even though it's quite different from what we would normally feature as an 'A' side, we were both pretty sure about it as soon as we heard it,” says Zev, one half of Wolf + Lamb, “It feels like Nico's departure from making electronic or dance music into more of a songwriter.” An intimate track, ‘Time For Us’ moves away from formulaic club music and inspires with its dynamic approach. “Its different from my other releases in that it comments on club culture as much as it praises it,” says Nico. Seth Troxler has laced it with admiration and the record was more than in tune with the environment when unleashed at Burning Man this summer. New York born Nicolas Jaar was raised in Chile until the age of 11 before returning stateside. At 19 he stands head and shoulders above similar breakthrough producers of the moment. It's been 10 years since Pomegranates - Nicolás Jaar's unofficial/alternative soundtrack to
Sergei Parajanov's 1969 film The Color of Pomegranates - was first released, and to highlight
this occasion we are reissuing the album on vinyl, with the first edition (a collaboration with
the label Mana) having long been out of print.
Longer and slower-releasing than his other albums, Pomegranates often parallels the
cinematic epic on which it’s based, with ideas pursued over long timelines and
across dark landscapes, assembling elements and moods from the aesthetic and folkloric
landscapes of Armenia. Jaar’s identity is perceived within this, folding in his heritage as
Palestinian and Chilean as he attempts to build a musical architecture outwards that frames
as much of the mess and sprawl of life as possible; using a language that investigates the
movement and fluctuation of his own artistic career and character similarly to the film’s tracing
of the coming of age of the young poet, Sayat-Nova.
At times, Pomegranates feels profoundly intimate, as though looking through the archive of a
friend’s music and discovering the accent and common currency that lives within each of
these tracks. Much of Jaar’s most elegant and touching melodic work is nestled here, its
power residing in its simplicity and willingness to speak to the heart and not the mind of the
listener.
In the text document included in the first freely distributed version of the album in 2015, Jaar
writes that the album was conceived during a moment of change, and that the pomegranate
became an icon that heralded that passage of time. The physical publication of Pomegranates
closes one door whilst opening another, keeping promises and marking a significant point in
the career of an artist who restlessly reinvents himself, with a document that illustrates a
common language of lyricism, freedom, and emotional resonance linking his many paths and
projects

The initial seed for this project was planted in 2020 when Nicolás Jaar wrote the song “Piedras” for a
concert at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago, Chile, which commemorates the
victims of human rights violations during the military dictatorship led by Augusto Pinochet between
1973 and 1990. Between 2022-2023 it took on a new form as a radio play entitled 'Archivos de Radio
Piedras', which was shared on a dedicated Telegram channel. In 2024, the play was converted into a
24 channel installation at the University Museum of Mexico City (MUAC), where it was exhibited for 5
months.
Piedras 1 and 2 is a collection of the tracks featured within the play, all new music by Jaar, but partly
presented within the play as the music of Salinas Hasbún (the name a composite homage to Jaar's
grandmothers, Graciela Salinas and Miriam Hasbún).
The play follows two friends mourning the disappearance of Salinas Hasbún, a musician and writer
who vanished in the early 2020s. Although they live in a future where technology is advanced, they
resort to DIY radio methods because the anonymous group “Las 0cho” has launched a worldwide
attack on undersea internet cables, causing a global internet blackout.
The play's central theme revolves around the idea that truths, memories and identities speak from the
cracks (“rasgaduras”), or the "in-between" spaces ("en el entre"). This concept is supported by the
way much of the narration unfolds - in the liminal spaces between radio frequencies. The instability
and transitory nature of a constantly shifting radio dial becomes not just a metaphor but the structure
of the play itself. It’s in these moments of noise, static and interference that the deeper revelations of
the story emerge. This disjointed, ever-changing medium mirrors the way memory and trauma
operate within the play - non-linear, slipping through the gaps, found in fragments or ordinary
moments, rather than direct transmissions of “official” historical accounts.
This notion reaches its climax at the end of the narrative, when a text is discovered in which Salinas
speaks of finding a new number in a small pond in a cave mentioned in the first episodes of the radio
play. This pond, inside the “cochlea of the world”, is seen as a way to introduce real-life randomness
to computation. Embodied in the salt lakes of northern Chile, home to the world’s oldest bacteria, this
randomness disrupts the rigid order of binary code, paving the way for a transformation of digital life.

With countless accolades, forays, and dips into other waters both preceding its arrival one decade ago and since with many musical ventures this LP still stands as not only a unique and verified-classic release in the artist's own expansive catalog as well as ours, but also amongst the general pantheon of electronic music of the 21st Century on the whole.
What better way to celebrate this milestone than with an immaculate must-have re-release package, with the music now spread out over double discs and cut at 45rpm on 180g Black vinyl to let the glacial top-end soar as originally intended, and the air of the general proceedings expand, once again, into the ears and consciousness of electronic music lovers the world over. It has been 10 years since Nicolas Jaar released his celebrated debut album, Space Is Only Noise here on Circus Company. With countless accolades, forays, and dips into other waters both preceding its arrival one decade ago and since with many musical ventures this LP still stands as not only a unique and verified-classic release in the artist's own expansive catalog as well as ours, but also amongst the general pantheon of electronic music of the 21st Century on the whole.
What better way to celebrate this milestone than with an immaculate must-have re-release package, with the music now spread out over double discs and cut at 45rpm on crystal clear vinyl to let the glacial top-end soar as originally intended, and the air of the general proceedings expand, once again, into the ears and consciousness of electronic music lovers the world over. Along with this technical upgrade recut, the distinct artwork has also received a facelift fit for the occasion, and will now be found adorning a full gatefold cover, inked lovingly in reverse on inside-out heavyweight paper including printed inner sleeves for a total collector's gem front-to-back.

NICOLAS JAAR is a Chilean sound maker born in 1990. He is known in the club world for his various dance 12?? EPs and remixes he put out from 2008 to 2011. Since his first full length (SPACE IS ONLY NOISE, 2011), he has embarked in multiple divergent path.
For the last 7 years, he has released a large volume of recordings through his label OTHER PEOPLE (including music by LYDIA LUNCH, WILLIAM BASINSKI, PATRICK HIGGINS, DJ SLUGO, LUCRETIA DALT, PIERRE BASTIEN & TOMAGA, VTGNIKE and others).
In 2015, Nicolas scored DHEEPAN by director JACQUES AUDIARD (winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes 2015).
In 2016, Jaar launched THE NETWORK, a web of 111 fictional radio stations done in collaboration with artists JENA MYUNG and MAZIYAR PAHLEVAN. A batch of these mixes was aired on NTS radio and is archived here: (https://bit.ly/35PwrHu). In 2017, THE NETWORK became a book, published by PRINTED MATTER In NY.
In the spring of 2019, Jaar was commissioned for a 9 hour improvisation in the OUDE KERK CHURCH in Amsterdam which he performed alongside two organists and a dozen surround speakers pointed at the ceiling of the church.
Nicola?s is currently curating a residency for sound artists in the West Bank that takes place in a 130 year-old converted food storage shack in Bethlehem (within the DAR YUSUF NASRI JACIR FOR ART AND RESEARCH)
Residents so far include composer SEBASTIAN JATZ RAWICZ and researcher and artist ROLANDO HERNANDEZ.
In the fall of 2019, he presented INCOMPREHENSIBLE SUN, a sound and light installation in a 200-meter-long ex-military shooting range in Zaandam (The Netherlands) and RETAINING THE ENERGY, BUT LOSING THE IMAGE alongside artist VINCENT DE BELLEVAL which consisted of 10 large rotating parabolic reflectors that capture and emit hyper-focalized surround sound.
For the first SHARJAH ARCHITECTURE TRIENNALE (curated by ADRIAN LAHOUD IN 2019) Nicola?s performed a piece for 16 buried speakers in the desert near the MLEIHA ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTRE.
Nicola?s has collaborated with artist LYDIA OURAHMANE (MUSIC FOR TWO SEAS, Stromboli), FKA TWIGS (MAGDALENE), and PATRICK HIGGINS under the name AEAEA. He is also a current member of improvisational ensemble ¡MIE?RCOLES! alongside dancer and choreographer STEPHANIE JANAINA, founding member of research collective SHOCK FOREST GROUP, and half of the band DARKSIDE

In 2016, Jaar launched THE NETWORK, a web of 111 fictional radio stations done in collaboration with artists JENA MYUNG and MAZIYAR PAHLEVAN. For the first SHARJAH ARCHITECTURE TRIENNALE (curated by ADRIAN LAHOUD IN 2019) Nicola?s performed a piece for 16 buried speakers in the desert near the MLEIHA ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTRE.

In the dead of winter, I visited Nico in his apartment in Providence, Rhode Island. He had just finished composing "Don't Break My Love," the A-side of his new EP and his first song since Space is Only Noise. He seemed solemn, but I didn't ask why. The next night, I witnessed a rare occurrence: Nico DJ-ed a small party. We danced all night in a brick-walled loft as snow fell outside. Half a year later and a continent away, the B-side, "Why Didn't You Save Me," arrived. Nico wrote it one sleepless night after a show in Germany. He spent the rest of the tour developing the song, letting it grow.
The rhythms on the EP unravel slowly. As the songs progress, they fill up with rapid-fire hi-hats and mechanical percussion. The faster strikes meet slower beats and the songs seem to stretch; they feel pulled in both directions almost ad infinitum. After the tour, I re-listened to the EP, a ten inch vinyl, with Nico in his apartment in New York. He told me he had been singing more and more, and sampling less. The EP foreshadowed an evolving sound within Clown & Sunset, he explained, and previewed an upcoming compilation by the same name, replete with new talent.
When the B-side wound down, and the clavinet faded out, Nico placed his finger tip on the edge of the record, slowing it to a crawl. With the resonance of our feelings, we remained still for a while after, as silence enveloped us.

Endangered Species is the eagerly awaited full-length album from Wolf + Lamb's musically virtuosic No Regular Play, a duo equally at home in the rehearsal rooms of Julliard as in the main room of Fabric. Their debut album was made in early summer 2012, exclusively in the studio of New York City's Marcy Hotel. Over the course of 11 elegantly interlaced tracks, Greg Paulus and Nicholas DeBruyn create a veritable cornucopia of beautiful forms. A steaming hothouse of closed high-hats, rife with the plaintive, fluttering bird-calls of Paulus's inimitable trumpet lines, and unapologetically organic throughout, Endangered Species is as shape-shifting as nature itself. Endangered Species also includes guest spots from close friends Carolina Sevilla and Lisa Bauer on opening track "Birdfeathers." Alex Scherber, A.K.A. John Camp contributes additional keys on "Birdfeathers" and the title track, "Endangered Species". "The Answer" features vocals and piano from Eliot Cardinaux, a fellow alumnus of Greg's from the Manhattan School of Music. JT Bates, the prolific Minneapolis free jazz and indie drummer, recorded live drums on "Kickback." Mixing for the album was done by musician/producer Francis Harris. The project was mastered by the legend, Joe Lambert, who has also worked with the likes of Animal Collective, Washed Out and Dirty Projectors.

Eli Goldstein AKA Elyte and Charles Levine AKA Cnyce have locked secrets from the outer realms into its design, only to be deciphered through careful attention to its soul. Help in the transformational process is obliged from their close knit Wolf + Lamb family, who have shared and shaped their journey into the consciousness of the terrestrial. The young Jules Born of Voices Of Black duo injects his raw funk stamp into 'Let's Groove On'. Baby Prince AKA Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf + Lamb features alongside other members of the family on 'The Clapping Song'. "We were just hanging out in Charlie's bed when this one came together. We all just sang our own versions of the lyrics," says Eli who contributes the saxophone to the jam. Charlie also plays Kazoo, guitar and keys. Greg Paulus of No Regular Play beams in his magnificent trumpet on the serene closing broadcast, 'Islands in Space' as Charlie sings in cosmic frequencies and Eli's father Gary Goldstein strums the bass. Charlie's vocals play a big part of the appeal of the Soul Clap sound. Their 'Lonely C' anthem of last year made it onto BBC Radio 1 daytime and 6Music rotation and EFUNK's 'TroubleTroubleTrouble' shares a similar vibe - wholly connected and real.
Goddess deities lead EFUNK's transmission further into the light. Franceska unveils her Janet Jackson like powers on 'Take It Slow' and Mel Blatt of All Saints fame wrote and sang the lyrics for 'Ecstasy' - a typical slow jam from Soul Clap, defined as a record that pulls the body low to the floor and slows down the energy vibrations. Hijacked by a UFO to study the effects of the spotlight over a decade, Mel recently returned with divine powers. "We met Mel at DC10 closing," explained Charlie, "Her vibe is incredible and the fact that she's seen it through a pop stars eyes is an added bonus." Her lucid voice returns for 'Need Your Lovin'. Originally an edit Charlie created from an intense love for the original, when they shared it with Mel over stargazing, her mutual feelings led to them recording her vocal and replaying all the parts, becoming a reinvigorated fresh interpretation of the rave classic.
Further into un-charted territory 'The Alezby Inn' a cover of legendary west-coast electro don Egyptian Lover, features the humorous genius Genevan Heathen, who shares a Boston connection and unleashes an EFUNK masterpiece, a mischievious jam that speaks its own truth, "its strange but I like it!" 'Let It Go' was resurrected from an early demo Roldy Cezaire gave to the guys during their legendary midweek parties in Boston. It became a staple in their car cd player, never forgot it due to Roldy's vibe and innocence, and finally resurrected it for the EFUNK voyage. South African Lazarus Man's epic 'When The Soul Claps' is a staple accapella in Soul Clap performances since he shared it with them. The EFUNK formula beams a mysterious and powerful skyrocket to the stars.

Ibadan announces the release of a new remix by Dennis Quin of Kerri Chandler & Jerome Sydenham ft. Troy Denari - You're In My System on vinyl in December, 2019.
Quin, a self-professed house addict and die-hard Kerri Chandler fan since the early nineties, had been searching for a new vocalist to work with. He turned to Simon Birkumshaw, label manager and A&R of Chandler's Madhouse Records, who recommended Troy Denari, the original vocalist of the classic Ibadan track "You're In My System". When Denari revealed that had just resung the vocals, Quin was inspired to remix the track.
Quin's aim with this remix was to update the track for his sets and give it contemporary production values in line with his current digital sets. "It's always tricky to put your hands on a huge record like this," he says. "It's a legendary track that everyone knows, so I was extremely careful in terms of mixing, timing, and all the rest." The result is a modern version of the classic that is very true to the original. At the same time, Quin makes his mark by bringing his own drum and percussion into the mix.
The remix versions cover all the bases for various digital distribution formats, including atmospheric dub, club and instrumental mixes, plus a special three-minute edit for Spotify.
Working together for the first time, the members of the musical team were excited to exchange their ideas. "Troy, Kerri, Jerome and I have gained so much out this intense collaboration. It has developed into a deep friendship that is all about house music, good vibes and pride in our achievements. Each of us is fulfilled by our individual roles in this project. I'm really proud to be part of this family."
Christine Pedersen, managing director of Ibadan Records, is excited about Quin's first release on the label. "It's always a pleasure to welcome new and talented collaborators into the fold. And I love the new vocal. Troy's singing brings a fresh spin to the track."

We've had a great year with releases on such great labels and had the opportunity to play our music all over the world and we've enjoyed every minute of this musical rollercoaster. And today, we've got another dream that's turning into reality: We're starting our own label. This is Heist Recordings, and you're looking at our very first release. We're extremely proud to share this two track EP of our own music with you and we hope you'll like it as much as we do. The break up is a track that checks all the boxes of the signature DS sound. An infectious set of airy chords, a bumpy bass-line and a lush female vocal give the track that feeling that bridges everything we love about the house from back in the days with the things that get everyone excited today. The make up is a deeper track, but still a genuine house tune, with some repetitive almost hypnotic vocals and stabs and of course, a pumping groove. You'll lose track of everything halfway through the break, but as soon as the beat kicks in, you know its business time. This is just the first step.
