The idea that France once had a genius and let him go to California where he was more welcome and appreciated than in Paris is, in the digital area, a trivial issue. Every single Web entrepreneur heads towards the Silicon Valley to develop his ideas. During the 70's, this was less ordinary. Back then, it was another area, music, which witnessed the departure of a very talented guy for the United States, a country that quickly understood he was a star.
Marc Cerrone, a trained drummer and disco phenomenon who sold more albums than many other artists put together, saw his career magnified by America but also slightly twisted by France which quickly reduced him to a style, disco music, without trying to understand who he was and how relevant his talent was. His path went through two phases, two complementary moves. The Golden Touch released by the end of the seventies claims the birth of a all dico movement, and its composer is one of the spiritual father

The first years, from his first album in 1976 to his 7th in the middle of the 80's, were fuelled with an exemplary sense of creativity and a free-spirit vision. Against everyone's advice, Cerrone was never reluctant to compose long and pure trance disco tracks, not exactly radio-friendly at the time, but which did incredibly well because they encapsulated the hedonism of the day and were far more than a trend. For Instance, "Love In C Minor" and "Supernature" have become unbeatable classics, featured regularly in the best pop, disco or dance selections…
Such a success would have burnt most of the others' wings, whose career would have been ruined. At the beginning of the 80's, when he decided to unleash his creativity on stage, Cerrone managed to rebound with " You Are the One " studio album.

To anyone with even a passing interest in the weirder end of good-time party-ready house music, Freaks should need little introduction. Luke Solomon and Justin Harris have been keeping our preferred kind of dancefloor vibrating to the cheekiest manifestations of house music since the mid-
90s, never letting up and moving in the same oscillations as the good ship Circus Company. From first emerging on Phono through to setting up their Music For Freaks label, stopping by Playhouse, Wash House and Rebirth amongst countless other labels along the way, the UK duo have
constantly given the traditions of house music a tickle in the ribs without losing that fundamental funk that makes a record great to dance to. We were thrilled to welcome Luke and Justin to remix Dave Aju’s “Nu Threads” at the end of last year, and now we follow up on that connection with a special EP
of gems from the extensive Freaks archives. On “Shrunken Heads (One Pro Mix)” the rock solid foundations of filter house music collide with
flamboyant synth noodlings for a truly cosmic end result, while “Absolut Zero” finds solace in a slower, deeper groove peppered with oddball effects tweaking and disembodied vocal samples. Heading further into loose-fit, slippery territory, “Funk You (Who Do You Trust Dub)” lets soulful sample licks
wriggle and writhe through a decidedly laid-back atmosphere that shows off the range Freaks have always sported in their output since day one. In many ways this coming together of Circus Company and Freaks feels like a logical development for two bastions of the oddball house music community, not to mention a great opportunity to hear tracks that otherwise might never have seen the light of day.

Sven Vath . Sound of the 16th Season
People have their personal rituals. Leaving the International Space Station Russian space travelers left some bread and salt as a welcome gift for their American colleagues. Tennis star Serena Williams bounces the ball exactly five times before her first serve. Our beloved master of ceremony of techno music, Sven Vath, has a ritual as well: When the shadows on the island Ibiza grow longer and the noise of the summer is about to fade away, he takes a couple of days off and reminisces the passing season, the parties, the crowds and the music: What were the craziest, the most outrageous, most beautiful moments? Which situations, which encounters inspired me? What did we laugh about? And of course: what was the best music? Which tracks accompanied me and my Cocoon People during those intense weeks? Vath assembles those magical tracks for the sixteenth time this year merging them into two and a half hour set.
With "Sound of the 16th Season", Vath brings together friends from CocoonLs environment, as well as long time companions from all over the world and young, aspiring musicians. Vath opens with DJ Koze's "XTC": Through a cloudy, blurry soundscape, a captivating melody begins to talk to us. This exceptional piece of music manages to merge contradictory feelings. Vath uses it to set an emotional anchor, to what is at stake. Matthew Dekay plays a single cello chord to wait for a short moment. Those seconds of silence turns the track into a poetical starting signal. Vath stops the grooves harshly and sets a new tone, with "Next Please" by Metaboman, a high-spirited, twisted, funny, electronic polka. With the outrageous techno soul of Kevin Saunderson and Carl Craig the legendary Detroit honchos turn play into drama. Jacob Korn takes this thread and adds melodic Detroit sounds releasingthe tension with a jazzy, experimental gesture. With Leon Vynehalls reduced gospel, the set reaches a spiritual moment, which is driven on by Aaron with his wonderful, driving "Whatcha Say. The beautiful passionate voice says: "That's what you say.h Singing the line over and over again, it turns into confirmation, reminder and some kind of warning. With the pretty, quiet "Do not disturb Bjorn" Vath allows us to pause for a moment. Beloved for his delicate sound textures, John Tejada extends the shades of the subdued mood. Mattheis turns it into something different in a very subtle way, using penetrating strings with an anthem like quality. With Patrick SpeckeLs & Daze MaximLs contribution, Vath brings the set down on the groove to move into the finale of the first part: "Drifting" by Jacek Sienkiewicz puts us with beautiful, delicate sounds in a state of childlike enchantment. Ricardo Tobar implements this unique feeling using wider, soft, springy sounds, which let us float like a balloon. VathLs second set takes off with Tim Green's "Eclipse": a happily boasting bassline leads us through a charming house groove. Alex Smoke transformed this curiosity into cockiness using vigorous acid sounds. Heartthrob breaks the playful energy with cool electronic sounds, which escalate into a furious snare drum thunderstorm. Tim Wright emerges further into inexhaustible deep space of electronic sounds, employing a screeching electro bassline with a twinkle in his eye. Deetron picks us up with overwhelmingly positive tribal sound and a beaming, unforgettable riff. With Bastinov Vath absorbs the emotional life of this track and adds more shades with fascinating violin sounds. Robert Hood transforms Bastinovs thoughtfulness with a brilliant synthesizer figure into an electrifying soul. Vath does an utterly surprising u-turn with a song by Swedish cult band The Knife, merging Afro-American Soul into highly sensitive Indie. Geeemans very special way to modulate his voice is reminiscent of the "Ba Ba Bah, Aha ha ha" from Vath's own, legendary "Electrica Salsa". Now we are in the frenzy of the night, it is time for Techno. Gary Beck pulls us into another world with a powerful groove and an epic hookline, Pig & Dan condense this mood to give the message "Universal Love". "Warehouse Memories" brings back recollections of crazed parties in abandoned factories. Vath clears the madness with Alex BauLs hypnotic, flowing grooves. Dimi Angelis sets a soulful final chord with a beautiful riff merging fragile violin sounds and a shrill 8-bit synth, so the set can fade away in a charmingly mellow piece of Petar Dundov.
The bread and the salt of the Russians is only a welcome gift. "The Sound of the 16th Season" unites past, present and future. Both CDs provide an opportunity to remember the best moments of the
summer as the storms of autumn sweep around the houses. But it's not just about the past, but also about tomorrow: The rousing tracks make you looking forward to 2016: the dancing, the laughter, the sun, the beautiful people and the contented, generous smile our Sven!

Ibiza based Francisco Allendes makes a welcome return to Desolat for his next release, a fine EP that marks something of a new direction for the man across its four great tracks. First up, 2Agility Queen" is a raw bit of jacking house with clipped vocals offered up by Dance Mania's DJ DMC, bulky drums and classic cow bell tinkles all making for a sweaty and heavy house kicker . The rapped vocals that come in add plenty of flair to an already firing track. The brilliant "Groundhog Day" is an off kilter, rave influenced tune with wordless voices, militant snare patterns and blasts of frazzled bass frequencies that cannot fail to energise any floor. On the flip, "Flea Allergy" is another anxious cut of coarse hi hats, robotic and wordless vocals and slamming dreams that works you into a frenzy, then "Aroa Leon" gets even more unhinged, lumpy and ghetto fried with its sleazy drums, jittery perc and kinetic sense of energy.
This lively, arresting new EP is a fine new direction and sound for Francisco Allendes that never stays too far from the chunky Desolat blueprint we all know and love.

Barotti is a musician and contemporary multimedia artist based in Berlin. After years of working on urban sound installations, performing arts and experimental music, he is now releasing his debut album. A soundtrack for fantastic futuristic fairytales. Epic and symphonic - with a deep electronic base.
Armed with iconic analog gear of the 1970s and 1980s, a hand-picked group of high level classical string and horn players and the whole imaginary world of his absurd fantasies, Barotti is opening up a new dimension in the vast field between contemporary classical and electronic music.
Rising stands firmly with one foot in the same mud as Woodkid and Sohn, and the other foot dipping into the past 200 years of classical music, resting in a lukewarm cocktail of Funkstörung and James Blake.
The album was recorded in Casablanca and Berlin. Co-written and co-produced with Swedish composer Anders Ehlin and German producer Valentin Sommer.

Biographical details:
Arriving in Berlin in 2007 after completing his music studies in drums at the Siena Jazz Academy, Barotti has pursued a wide variety of activities in the art world. He quickly joined forces with Plastique-Fantastique, producers of inflatable urban architecture. Together they started creating interactive sound sculptures. Their installations have been exhibited at Saatchi Gallery, Clerkenwell Design Week London and Design Week Milan. Their latest work Sound of Light (made for Urbane Künste Ruhr) won the Let's Colour Award. Their work also extends into pop: they have designed a stage machine for Peaches, now touring around the world. Barotti has also worked with Asphalt Piloten, an interdisciplinary group of artists transforming public spaces. Together, they have traveled all over Europe and Russia with various projects and have won the Swiss June Johnson Dance Award as well as the Kultur-&-Kreativpiloten Deutschland Award. In addition, Barotti also played the lead role in Berlin Für Helden, a movie by legendary German underground director Klaus Lemke.

Live
For his live shows, Barotti has invented a new instrument: The Pneumatic Drums. This enables him to combine his percussive skills in an interactive electronic environment, using the inflatable instrument not only as a drum but also as a projection surface for his visuals. The machine resembles a multicolored UFO and immerses the audience in its euphoric psychedelic patterns and rhythms.

The album:
In 2012 Barotti travelled to Morocco with a group of dancers, musicians, visual artists, gathering in an antique house facing the sea of Casablanca. The whole foundation of Rising revolves around the epic sessions in that mystical Arabic house which were later shaped into complete studio productions in Berlin. With Barotti's background in jazz improvisation and the world of the performing arts, it was clear that this album would be a multifaceted collaborative production. Just as in a jazz improvisation - the different energies and skills of Barotti and his two friends have created something special. This is a new universe of sonic landscapes, created using only old pianos, rare synthesizers and analog effects.
The visuals for the cover artwork were drawn by Sandra Tebbe during the Moroccan recording sessions, using the ancient ceramic tiles on the walls of the house in Casablanca as her canvases.

For release number 80 we welcome back Italian producer Dhaze. Hailing from Rome, Dhaze started his self-thought experimentation with electronic music in 1996 when he bought his first sampler.
His productions have seen the light of day on several undergound labels such as Amam, Little Helpers, Bla Bla, Body Parts, Inmotion and plenty more!
Of course Dhaze has also already released on Metroline Limited, with fellow Italian producer Sabe, on the stunning Metroline Limited 76, Full Force EP.
The EP opening is the 'explicit' Subatomic Pussy. The groove shuffles away with a clever use of drum patters and crispy hats. The mood is dark and disorienting, almost sinister with some crazy cavernous Green Velvet-esque vocal snippets that make their presence felt every now and then.
And if the dark grooves of the openeing track weren't heavy enough, the following track, Waterdrip take the tension up a notch or two! The track is a relentless groovy monster, one for the darkest moments of a tech-house set but also suitable for the most obscure hours of Berghain! Not for the faint hearted! :)
This time on remix duty we welcome Spanish producer Medu. Having loved his latest productions both on Dissonant and Wavetech Ltd we though about asking him to rework Subatomic Pussy and the result is excellent.
Medu stripped Subatomic Pussy down to it bare elements but menaged at the same time to re-create a similarly hypnotic and driving peak time techno number!
As we like our EP's to be 'all killers' and 'no fillers', to close this release in style we decided to include the incredible track 'Hardware In Love' Quite frankly this track could easily be selected as the main track of another release all year round but hey...we want to give you the best value for money, always!
The sound of the synth bassline combined with the acquatic drums and the squelchy modulated synth contribute to building an intense groove with some room for some housier vibes in the breakdowns.

YNK's 2nd EP for Polytone is much more than a continuation of his earlier records on Polytone and Tenderpark. Instead, the young artist wants his new EP to be seen as an autonomous work which draws on a multitude of different materials. This leads to a very fluid texture of samples, synths and drum machines and a very detailed structure at first sight - however, all elements fit into each other very nicely and make way for the bigger picture if you take a step back. The compelling main theme of "One-Oh-One" on the a-side subtly emerges as a reprise on the b-side of this record that deals with the various forms of happiness. Between these two sits Benedikt Frey's remix of "One-Oh-one" that creates a form of deepness rather unheard in his other productions - a kind of introverted free electronica that defies the boundaries of house and techno. All in all, "High On Endorphin, Low On Gasoline" is an EP which may be a bit more uncommon for the sound of Polytone. Nonetheless, the label from Frankfurt is very happy to have YNK back for a stunning new record. The artwork of the record comes courtesy of Lithuanian-born artist Kristina Suvorova.

Through dense layers of noise, brittle beats, found sounds and a general haze, Francis Harris returns to his own Scissor and Thread imprint, with the aid of frequent collaborator, and longtime friend, guitarist Gabe Hedrick, under the guise Aris Kindt. Following Harris' 2014 sophomore solo album, "Minutes of Sleep," (named Electronic Album of the Year by Mojo Magazine,) the duo's quintessential album debut, "Floods," takes as its focus, the late author W.G. Sebald's profound interpretation of Rembrandt's 1632 master work, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. "Floods" is a sonic journey into the heart of the body, a bold rejuvenation of Adriaan Adriaanszoon (Aris Kindt), once a mere cadaver on a cold metal slab, now a living breathing human at the heart of a creative shift in vantage point from object to active subject. Much in the same way Rembrandt intended with the painting itself, "Floods" attempts to subvert the listeners memory of a moment.

Written within a span of over a year using an 808, a modular eurorack and two guitars, "Floods" was mixed at Keyclub Recording Company in late August with Engineer Bill Skibbe. The album charts new territory for both Harris and Hedrick, melding a long history with electronic music and youthful love for indie noise, weaving in and out of near silence and sheering walls of sound with a gentle and constant heartbeat at its core.

The dream-like murk of album opener "Now Grey" sets the tone with thick pads, distant, ghostly guitar work and fragmented drums. On the title track, dubby chords set the tone, as subdued toms amble forward, with a crackling of fire nearby, as a dense sounds echo and swirl around into a climactic frenzy. "Blue Sky Shoes" hypnotizes with its submerged strings and subaquatic patterning, as synths rain down like streaks breaking the surface. "Snowbird" builds into a repressed fury as a blizzard of toms bounce around a heavy layer of noise while a morose and longing string arrangement emerges from despair into an ethereal moment. "Every New Thing" dives deep again into murky waters with entrancing drums and warped guitar lines swirling around like sirens. "Embers" with its quiet demeanor, slowly builds to an enlightened peak, while the closing track, "Braids", sees Harris and Co. touch upon a shoe gaze fog of churning guitar work and dense noise, as the sound of children swinging drifts in and out, as if trying desperately to recover a fragmented memory of lost time.

Over the years, Oliver Koletzki has continuously cited Berlin as a point of reference and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. Two of his albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 have been a direct ode to the capital. Friedrichshain, one of Berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Olivers heat. Edition 282 marks the long awaited debut of Manuel Anós aka Psyk on the expansive and honorable Tresor Records catalog. The Madrid-based producer had previously released a single track 'Jackin' under the alias Maan back in 2012 on DJ Deep's Kern Vol. 01 compilation. Psyk takes the stage with a four-track solo EP 'Works', also including a digital bonus track. On both side's first positions - with 'Definition' and 'Balance' - Psyk delivers electrifying tracks teetering on the boundaries of hypnosis. Andrew's journey started with reading about the story of the dance plague in 1518 where hundreds of people were seized by an irresistible urge to dance in the streets until exhaustion and death. His favourite song "Etre assis ou danser" from the Berlin based band "Liaisons Dangereuses“ had an even stronger creative trigger after reading this... For his first solo album, Andrew Claristidge - member of the Parisian duo Acid Washed (Record Makers) decided to fly to Ubu Noir's studio in Lyon where he knew he could find one EMS synthetizer to start to record a few sounds he wanted to include. The experience was highly stimulating so that back at his studio in Berlin, he had assembled almost all the ideas for his album with the basic concept: You can dance to every kind of music.
At the same time Andrew started a new way of producing: less thinking, more acting. He called it Pragmatic Composing. During this composing period he was also touring and stopped in Nantes to record a track with another friend and music connoisseur: Leendder.
Next chapter: Andrew exchanged files with Theus Mago, his Mexican friend, to create "dancing plague“ . A dance floor monster was born… Back to Berlin meeting The Claydermans @ Rodion's insane studio brought to life "now we dance!“. Think less, do more… he locked himself in the studio for 2 weeks to finish the whole album... but something was still missing. This album is also about friendship so he met Henning Specht, member of the French band Hypnolove and they recorded the song "modulated choir", an intense dancefloor piece...
