With releases on Mule Electronics, Ethereal Sound and Live at Robert Johnson, Benedikt Frey outlines his own interpretation of house music; well arranged phasing patterns and blending harmonic motives define his sound signature. Teaming up with jonas.san on this track, they deliver a beautiful composition of Frey's signature raw drums and jonas jazzy outtakes of muted trumpet. Owen Jay & Melchior Sultana have been pretty busy in recent months with releases on staple labels such as Minuendo, Moods & Grooves, Deep Explorer & Contrast Wax . On their home label they now present a deep atmospheric houser with a few twists and hidden melodies. Lars Behrenroth, the man behind Deep Shades of House, needs no introduction and we are delighted to see him joining the Batti family with a loopy yet highly infectious chord track with a minimal approach. Hailing from Mexico, Romeo C & Alhan G have previously been featured on a digital Batti Batti release and now have the honour to have their intricate work pressed to wax. Batti Batti returns with another serious release, this time from label boss Owen Jay and studio partner Melchior Sultana. Avoiding the use of sampling, the Riot EP is a 4-tracker of genuine deepness, very original in style and structure and having all sounds produced on vintage hardware gear. Style wise the Ep varies from the more club oriented tracks Silent Change & The Riot which could easily be categorized as deep techno, to a very deep house groover titled Afterparty and a Rhodes infested mid-tempo groove titled Mirror from Melchior Sultana. Rumor has it that Dj Jus-Ed (UQ) has been playing these tracks for the past 2 years and as the engraving on the vinyl suggest BBR03 is a dedicated to the deep house community worldwide.
