Baba Stiltz hails from a tradition of funky outcasts centred around the calm yet unpredictable city of Stockholm, Sweden. Since his infant days he's been guided through the nitty-gritty basics of what it is to be a true music lover by some of the city's most prolific artists, producers and djs. Despite his youth, 20-year-old Baba boasts an impressive discography, with two albums of dreamy folk-pop (as The Betlehem Beard Corporation) and a string of hit singles within the elusive Skweee scene already under his belt.
His more recent studio adventures have led to three 12'' releases on Stockholm dance label Studio Barnhus as well as recurring production work for post-rap phenomenon Yung Lean. Total is Baba's debut album under his own name and his finest work to date. From the opening machine-funk arpeggio of Missing to the sanguine melancholia of closing hiphop beat Discovery – New Dawn, Baba's masterpiece rides through psychedelic screw-pop, minimalistic emo-acid and opiate-drenched coming-of-age-ambient. Wow - Black Dynamite's second strike for Tenderpark ventures even more into Hip-Hop territory than his successful first EP back in 2012. Ivano Tetelepta, the man behind Black Dynamite has created three casual and well-hung tracks which form a fascinating hybrid between leftfield House and instrumental Hip-Hop. All tracks have been recorded on an oldschool analogue tape machine to create a warm vintage feeling which subtly underlines the musical deepness of these beat-centered creations.
The cover design is the second part of Tenderpark's new black and white artwork series which has been concieved by the label's art director Till Sperrle and photographer Magdalena Bichler. As with previous artworks this series illuminates the various shades and interactions between man-made and natural environments.

As Watergate carries into it's 12th year as one of the worlds elite clubs, it seems more than fitting and possibly long overdue, that Pan-Pot, who has been an integral part for nearly the entire lifespan of the club, will be curating the 17th installment of the illustrious Watergate CD series. In just 19 tracks the techno heavyweights have compiled a mix of both new and exclusive material as well as a couple timeless collaborations that showcase their distinct and endemic sound all while delivering the audience a taste of a night out at the acclaimed club no matter where they happen to be in the world. The mix begins with the lush soundscape and spaced out aura of Pavel Petrovs' 'Adapt', which seems to be a perfect start. Immediately getting the listener cozy and engaged before shortly transitioning into the massive anthem of Radio Slave's 'Don't Stop', a tell tale sign of the journey ahead. Over the next few tracks the exploration dives into the more psychedelic side of things. From Marco Ressman's 'Hello Again' and Clint Stewart's 'Drenched' into the darkness of Shall Ocin's 'Lurking Wolves', the mix moves smoothly towards the heavier sound Pan-Pot is famous for. Soon it seems that one is unknowingly caught in the relentless groove of masters like Mark Broom and the duo themselves with their monster 'Substance' from the inaugural release on their own imprint, Second State. As Watergate carries into it's 12th year as one of the worlds elite clubs, it seems more than fitting and possibly long overdue, that Pan-Pot, who has been an integral part for nearly the entire lifespan of the club, will be curating the 17th installment of the illustrious Watergate CD series. In just 19 tracks the techno heavyweights have compiled a mix of both new and exclusive material as well as a couple timeless collaborations that showcase their distinct and endemic sound all while delivering the audience a taste of a night out at the acclaimed club no matter where they happen to be in the world. The mix begins with the lush soundscape and spaced out aura of Pavel Petrovs' 'Adapt', which seems to be a perfect start. Immediately getting the listener cozy and engaged before shortly transitioning into the massive anthem of Radio Slave's 'Don't Stop', a tell tale sign of the journey ahead. Over the next few tracks the exploration dives into the more psychedelic side of things. Bastedos returns with more signature weirdo disco not disco (but disco) cut-up cuts. This time the painstaking editing comes from A.M., Last Waltz, and Bastedos themselves. Side A brings us Sit On This, a rolling, chugging, clapping, marimba-ing (!) disco workout in the vein of Material ,which pulls you along through a peaky peak time vocal, a sexed up guitar break, and some chopped-up chanting, all the way to its inevitable hands in the air Piano finale. Side B first provides us first with No Smoking On The Moon and it's celestial choral stylings. Soft synths and tough bass play with each other beneath B-Movie fx and ecclesiastic organs. The sound of a space age disco cult... from the past. Finishing off side B we have Magicke, the extended soundtrack to the opening of the gates of hell. Shuffling go-go perc, syncopated drums and fuzzed out chords play out under Satan's saxophone, before giving way to a damned (damned fuzzy that is) guitar, sounding out the call of Cthulu.

Following the critical success of last years mini-LP The Last Tortuga, Black Deer is back on Emotional Response with a 4 track remix EP featuring friends and alumni Nacho Patrol, Luke Wyatt, Sad City and Valet. William Burnett returns to the label in the form of a remixes EP that takes his original productions and hands it to a broad selection of today's finest electronic producers, plus a rare outing from one of the label's favourite pyschedelic experimentalists. While Danny Wolfer's Legowelt project needs little introduction, it was only right that his inclusion on the label came from a more cosmic outlook. With must have EPs and a long player offered, his afro-infused Nacho Patrol moniker is a must check. In Circle Dance the original is taken by the hand down to an afro-tech-funk'n'breaks basement for one of his best remixes to date and rightly so for one of his old buds. Luke Wyatt follows with an uplifting and warped retake on Meditation. The kraut influence of the original is built on with fuzz guitar and a solo that builds across the track to a higher peak. Play this at sunrise for reaffirmation of life itself. Next is a big favourite of the label, catching the ear from his first release on Underwater Peoples and a lush follow up for Phonica. His pure ambience of a remix strips everything back and lets the 4th World shine. With a 2nd EP due on Phonica, look out for something on this label soon. Finally, one of the main influences on the label when it started a few years back. Valet aka Portland multi-instrumentalist and mum, Honey Owens offers a deep, beautiful and haunting retake, adding whispers, drones, guitar, toms, keys and intonations to swallow you whole.

FJAAK are new to 50WEAPONS and they already have had a killer start. It is said that they actually sleep/live in their studio and one can easily imagin them listening to bassdrum samples for breakfast. Their rough techno tracks are driven by a fast and furious energy, that is pulsing with love for its genre. The A side is ruled by the outstandingly well carved noises of the Kick drum's reverb, brilliantly timed breaks and a windy flute pad that pairs perfectly with the distorted snare drum. A knack for expertly distorted drum sounds is one of FJAAK's most distinctive features. The B side explores the quest for finest distorted kick drum. "The Wind" pairs it with delayed synths and a noise-come-percussion heading into deeper territories while "Curious" on B2 sets a darker vibe with growling bass drones that sting like metallic insects and infect you with dancemania.

One of our most illustrious releases in 2014 so far, DAUWD's KINDLINN EP (KOMPAKT 295) finds a more than fitting continuation in SALEH, the London-based producer's latest push into romantic psychedelia and deep electronic dance music. Enjoy two new cuts that will turn heads in the most gentle manner, displaying all the loving care for sonic detail and melodic bravura that already transformed this artist's former efforts into celebrated standouts. As with DAUWD's previous offerings, the new material on SALEH sits comfortably between techno, house and UK bass styles, albeit with a seemingly growing flair for the straighter blends within the groove spectrum. This allows for an intensified focus on the various wondrous landmarks found in DAUWD's soundscapes, a highly imaginative and masterfully crafted exploration of undulating synth textures, soaring melodies and gripping percussion. The title track is a premium example for the producer's sonic wanderlust, breeding all sorts of immensely playful intricacies in the back alleys near those heavily trafficked main roads. In MOIETY- the release's equally catchy flipside offering -, the synth molecules start to swirl with the first sign of a needle being dropped, but are soon reeled in by the highly conductive beat and some truly vaso-dilating bassline. Whilst the lead melody gently weeps, the cut's rock-solid chassis keeps on pushing it forward, marrying remarkably powerful momentum with the laid-back chills of nostalgia. It's the kind of track that leaves you in a meditative mood without toning down the stoke factor, a multi-faceted and engaging listening experience for both sofa surfers and floor fiends.

Despite being an obsessive record collector for most his life; a globetrotting DJ who's toured the world dozens of times over; a go-to remixer for numerous labels, both high profile and fledgling (DFA, Mute, Permanent Vacation, Warp, Defected); co-owner of several imprints, LPH itself being one of them; and producer behind a handful of house and disco tunes that started trickling out in the mid-aughts, Jacques Renault has managed to never release a true, honest to god EP comprised of originals. That's about to change with Out of Sync, a four- tracker that exemplifies all Renault is, has been, and aspires to become -and that serves as a lead-up to his debut full-length, which will hit shelves next year. Sync starts with a chunky house jam ("I Like It") built upon loose, gritty drums, a characteristic central to essentially every cut Renault has churned out. The song, co-authored by longtime house auteur Andy Meecham, a.k.a. Emperor Machine, is relatively brief and to-the-point, a forthright ditty that will doubtlessly tear up dancefloors and that acts as a neat intro to what else is contained on this record. That one's followed by "Akron," a woozy, ethereal synth-laden house boogie that evokes moments from Renault's past, namely the days of yore when he was actively producing, as Runaway, with his partner, Marcos Cabral. The flip begins with "Make Up," a driven thumper that's interwoven with acid-y melodies and an industrial, jagged sharpness. Finally, the record closes with "M.A.N.," a contemplative cut that shuffles and bumps along, and that manages to feel grounded yet upward-gazing. How appropriate considering the fact that the acronym stands for "music at night," which could easily be a slogan for most everything Renault does and has a hand in. The EP ends gently, albeit with a certain spark, an upswing that implies this most definitely is not the last of what Renault has to unleash into the world. Indeed, these first four tracks represent only the beginning

Here ‘Hidden Agenda’ finds the young producer in true devastating form; skippy percussion, a nod to the UK’s garage scene, vibes the track along nicely whilst the bass does the damage. ‘Burnt Out Piano Island’ delves deeper, acting as a neat counterpoint to the more main room ‘Agenda’. Here the style is much more nuanced with a more hypnotic leaning. ‘Outsider’ picks up the pace against, albeit in a subtle, uplifting vibe with warped pianos and razor sharp percussion. ’T Moe P’ rounds things off nicely with a moody bassline driven groove.

2014 has been a slow year for Sequencias in terms of releases. Most of our energy has been spent towards the development of different projects, like our new webstore, that has become an outlet for us to share some of the records that influence the way we do things. So, with the wax offering slowing to a mere trickle, who better to entrust with our sole release for the rest of the calendar year? dcantu, of course. Cantu's electro-heavy sound is fleshed out here and while still lean enough for dance floors, it makes bolder moves into atmospheric and melodic territory. The A side, "Some Kind Of Strange...," begins with long synth strains before one of his signature overdriven drum workouts immediately punches through the lush spectral melody. Cantu runs through the patterns on his 808, weaving a sort of broken beat track that cruises through acidic space time. On the flipside you're treated to the electro/freestyle jam, "A Space Age Function." There aren't many surprises here nor is there any need for them: just pure and grimy electro joy...right down to the pitched down vocal sample and octave-hopping bassline. "September," the beatless coda, is an echo from a childhood spent in dark cinemas with the sounds of Carpenter and Howarth. Tinkling FM bells dot the layers of rich ethereal pads and you can practically hear the clattering of the projector somewhere behind you in the dark. Also, you probably noticed the changes on our artwork direction. We have made the conscious decision of going with a classic look for the upcoming series of releases. Nonetheless, expect some curveballs during the process.

Mark Henning returns to Soma with yet more jacked up machine funk in Titan. Mark has firmly established him self within the Soma mainstays and continues to further his sound on the label. This latest EP sees him take to the street with two energetic drum workouts laden with his unique flavour. Title track Titan is very typical Henning, keeping the ingredients simple yet effect and created live. A solid groove from his trusty 909 that just oozes dance floor compatibility hooked up with a quirky synth stab, weird vocals and a eerie organ-like riff all rounded off with a fantastic arrangement makes for one seriously infectious track Roots gives of a real ghetto-tech feel, as once again a 909 groove is enough to get things going while squelchy synth hits bounce of rimshots working up to a subtle rolling bass line. Mark’s skill in the arrangement process take hold as he allows the tracks to develop into a full drum workout with mutes here and there and the simple addition of more stuttering percussion help to pick up the pace. Jamal's music takes cues from the EBM and House that played a huge part in the city's musical underground in the late eighties and early nineties, notably Ron Hardy and Adonis, but also Industrial, Avant-Jazz and Noise. His tireless schedule of rough low-key releases over the last 12 years and his intense, very physical, psychedelic music, have made him a key exponent or maybe even a pioneer of what's recently come to be named 'Outsider House', although he prefers the more Sun-Ra like descriptors of 'Rhythmic Cubism' and 'Cosmic Be-Bop'. His releases, much like his music, have straddled House labels and the more leftfield avant garde electronic imprints with ease. However his deeply held Afrofuturist intent and the discipline of his radical designs set him apart from the pack. Always moving forward, his music is an ever-evolving transmission from his mind to our bodies, or as he sees it, a form of meditation that the supple, tuned listener will enjoy immensely."

The first installment in the vinyl edition of the Thema compilation Strength In Numbers finds the New York label reaching into its deepest corners to deliver four psychoactive cuts for the most discerning of DJs and dancers alike to lose themselves in. Norm Talley has been a mainstay of the Detroit electronic music scene since the mid 90s, and the sublime, pad-enriched tones of "Space Talk" perfectly sum up the mysterious soul he has made his name on. Damien K. Sahri shares the A side with Talley, and despite being a newer talent previously seen on Little Helpers and ADltd, his slender and immersive "Everything" joint stands up to comparison with the caliber on this record. Oskar Offermann has been busy building a career around releases on his highly-regarded leftfield techno imprint White, and with "Riseouse" he excels in channeling unusual sound sources into a tense and unnerving atmosphere that flies under the radar of obvious dancefloor tropes. Donor / Truss too understand how to get under the skin of the listener with a storied background in minimal techno for the likes of Perc Trax and M-Rec, and with the dubby undulations of "Discern" the Brooklyn-London duo provide the perfect distillation of their uncompromising style.

After successfully exploring Belgian New Beat influences on last years "A/B Music"/"Shorty" release, Sean continues to explore the darker side of vintage electronic tropes with the Sleaze EP. The EP's opener "Legato" operates on the interface between electronic body music and early techno, invoking Chris & Cosey, nights at the Dorian Gray, Suicide and Belgian 24 hour Discotheques. Remixer Kasper Bjørke, riding a killer bass line, pushes things deep into late night warehouse rave territory. On the flipside, "Thoughts On Modern Living" comes over like a deranged early Murk production and is fashioned for late night basement jams. Closing out the EP is "Sleaze" a cover of a 1983 Marc (Almond) and The Mambas B-side and a collaboration featuringHorton Jupiter (They Came From The Stars I Saw Them / DJ Mystic Rock / Puwaba) on vocal duties and Mat Flint (Death In Vegas / Revolver / Deep Cut) providing guitar textures.

Radioactive Man: "Dub has always been a major influence in my music, mainly roots a la King Tubby, Marley, Lee Scratch, King Jammy etc. I used to religiously tune into the Manasseh show on Kiss FM on Saturday nights after Coldcut, that introduced me to the massive amount of Roots Reggae and Dub that was made in the 70’s. I always loved the fact there was two versions, a vocal and a dub, which was always played in that order... The original remix music i guess.
