borusiade - Brain Bazaar
Romanian born, and Berlin Based, Borusiade (aka Miruna Boruzescu) makes her Correspondant debut in dazzlingly bleak fashion. Over a four track EP the artist manages to channel a wealth of disparate sounds, referencing Giallo disco, New Wave longing and Pitched-down ghetto techno amongst other dark and otherworldly tropes. All of the music on offer here possesses a slow and dark drive that purposes it for the dance floor, but also contain such a wealth of loss despair, and a perverse pathos that elevates them from simple dance music and move them in to a more artistic realm.

Borusiade - Recovery And Redemption
Borusiade lands on Dark Entries with their triumphant third LP, THE FALL: A Series of Documented Experiences. The Romanian producer and DJ Miruna Boruzescu aka Borusiade has a track record of genre-bending releases on tastemaking outlets like Cómeme, Pinkman, Cititrax, and of course Dark Entries, who unleashed their stunning 2020 sophomore album Fortunate Isolation. THE FALL builds on Borusiade’s mythos with its 9 brooding and sophisticated tracks investigating the contours of memory and embodiment - the “fragile bridge between body and mind” in Borusiade’s words. Moody basslines and melancholy synths wrestle with muscular rhythms; this is electronic body music for the heart and head. This is their most diaristic work to date, as well, chronicling love and loss through the gauze of reflection. Tracks like “Save Me”, “Recovery and Redemption”, and “The Fall” sprung from painful breakups, periods which Borusiade identifies as some of their most creatively fruitful, finding themselves “making the best music when I was brokenhearted.” There are odes to musical titans we’ve lost: the minimal electro producer Porn Darsteller is comemorated on “Darsteller”, while industrial legends Genesis P-Orrige and Lady Jaye are honored on “Pandrogyne.” THE FALL comes housed in a sleeve using Gautier D'Agoty’s “Essai d'Anatomie,” an anatomical work from 1745, and also includes a lyric sheet. Trauma, from lost love to pandemic isolation, informs THE FALL, situating itself as a gap that can only be accessed through sound and the creation of art. “What can I add? When life gives you drama, make music.”

Known for a series of beautiful records released on some of the best labels of the past years (Comeme, Dark Entries, Cititrax, Pinkman), Romanian producer and DJ Miruna Boruzescu aka Borusiade knows how to create ethereal tracks, somewhere between post-wave, techno and industrial vibes.
"Purge", the new EP for Tripalium Corp, is about heart-break in forced isolation, when the only way to stay sane is purging through music and lyrics. From the 80s synth of "Let Go" to the experimental ten-minutes-trip "Haunted Evolution", these five tracks are talking about of one's coping systems in extreme emotional situations, hope and power to move on and last but not least, learned lessons and empowerment. Borusiade - No Title
We are proud to release ‘Fortunate Isolation’ the sophomore album from Borusiade. Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania, Borusiade aka Miruna Boruzescu started DJ-ing in 2002 as one of the very few female DJs in the city’s emerging alternative clubbing scene. Influenced by a classical musical education, a bachelor in film direction and fascinated by raw electronic sounds, Borusiade first combined these universes in the construction of her DJ sets and starting 2005 also in her music production. A sound of her own has slowly crystallized, often dark with poignant bass lines, obsessive themes and by all means melodic. She has released EPs on labels like Pinkman, Unterton, Cititrax, Correspondant and Cómeme, who released her debut album ‘A Body’ in 2018.
‘Fortunate Isolation’ is perhaps Borusiade’s most personal release to date. Eight songs that capture a bystander witnessing the world as it undergoes drastic changes. We have disconnected ourselves from ecology, humanity, preservation, care for what surrounds us, for what is still alive. Borusiade adds, “| know that this place, our home has went through so many other extinctions, but | believe things will find their own way on this planet only once we are gone. Entropy creates a time-line but also a transformation - a new beginning.” The album’s sound is gloomy and powerful mixing sonic film sequences, rhythmic excursions and soothing yet obsessive vocals that touch one’s deepest senses. Lyrically the songs tackle themes of forgotten memories, spirituality, mortality, and destruction. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. Each copy is housed in a jacket designed by Eloise Leigh with decaying daguerreotypes against a rust color palette and includes an insert with lyrics.

Borusiade's Misfits of Broken Dreams puts a futuristic twist on industrial electronics, fusing it with spaced out drones and detached, yet bold spoken word by the artist herself. Rugged tribal rhythms and rumbling bass complete the picture, and you're left with an immersive ride leaving you somewhere inbetween fight-or-flight and gloomy despondency.

borusiade - Atlas
On her Unterton debut, Their Specters, Borusiade offers four different takes on atmospheric, industrial electronics and chopped rhythms, composed around the themes of ecological and human self-destruction. 2018 has already been an active year for the Romanian-born, Berlin-based electronic musician, who released her debut LP A Body on Co´meme in March and has since toured her live set throughout Europe. Known for a hybrid sound between noisy electronics, techno, post-punk, and dark disco, she has also released EPs and 12“s on labels such as Minimal Wave sublabel Cititrax and Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant. EP opener “Forewarned Is Forearmed” sets the tone as a massive drum march, stomping forward between rolling snares, clanging metal percussion and guttural drones, while evolution-themed ”Common Ancestor” is a tribal head-nodder, with booming sustained kicks offset by overdriven snare brushes and fluttering synths. New forms from a primordial sonic pool. On “Doublethink” wailing synths and stuttering rhythms vie for dominance in a storm of off-kilter techno, while the mammoth, slow melodic closer “Atlas” moves to the pace of waves crashing and hypnotic, detuned, interwoven melodies. Big sounds for the end of days.

borusiade - Silent (Khidja Remix)
Silent is the new single by Miruna Boruzescu aka Borusiade from Bucharest. Silent is a suffocated cry. Silent as in silence that is hard to take. Sitting and waiting in silence, while exploding on the inside. Silent as in silence before the storm. An intense track that recalls industrial spaces, hedonism, sweat, sex and disconnection from the outside world. The rattling sound of ghost train passing by, or big reverberated factory machines unleashed. Body music 2017. The B side features a remix by the project Khidja , also hailing from Bucharest, and is driven by the track’s bass synth, a neurotic now school electro rapture take on the original. Silent will be part of Borusiade’s debut album that will be unleashed next year via Co´meme.

borusiade - Dancer's Doom
Welcome to a nocturnal show of climbing creatures and warm moving bodies, strangely familiar voices on lonely nightrides, and hair-raising déjà-vus of forgotten dreams. Welcome to her first EP: Jeopardy. Welcome to the world of Borusiade. Miruna Boruzescu, DJ and producer from Bucharest, descended from Saturn's sphere through various channels of transmission such as: the mesmerising show "Dreamcatcher" on Radio Cómeme, Gudrun Gut's "Expartriarch Generations", Berlin's gay classic "SchwuZ", and in living colour at night from Milano to Mars. 2016 will see her visions coagulated into black vinyl, not only on Cómeme but also on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant; obviously choosing labels opposed to the genre-abiding underground neocons. The soundtrack to her Saturn return - a period of loss, transformation and empowerment, soaks us in during the very first bars of Spellbound (Surrender), opening a velvet drape to a hallucinogenic dramatic play of sensualities, sexualities, emotional and physical bondage. Could a film score in a parallel world when doppelgangers of Bela Tarr and John Carpenter team up with Bela Lugosi sound like this? How would these melodies work underlying the imagery of Tarkovsky's Solaris or Stalker? They not only evoke visions but sweetly poison our bodies on non-documented dance floors. It is here where the queer souls abandon their precarious conditions in society to turn into blooming night shades. The trip continues with the energy driven Haunted By Flashlights, an electronic body trance of exciting anxiety where lampposts passing by at high velocity turn into strobe: A real nightlife flip book of self forgotten corporal mannerisms

The mighty Man Power returns to Correspondant. One of the earliest labels to champion his explorative technoid landscapes, and deliver his debut album, the Mexico based composer makes a welcome return with three truly singular trips…
‘The Zen Of Xen’ comes in two segued parts, comprising almost 13 minutes of full intergalactic immersion. Laced with the alluring deep-dream vocals of Tel Aviv’s Xen, anchored with tripped-out humanized harmonics and weaved with soaring pads, it’s a genuinely emotional narrative that’s been cooking away on Man Power’s creative wishlist since he first met Xen at a show five years ago.
Elsewhere ‘Heart For Yes, Life For No’ will have you spitting rainbow emojis all night. An incredible piece of vibrant melodic techno rooted in synthesis, galvanized with emotive layers, driven by feels it sets us up perfectly for the fantastical finale ‘Hubris’. Cosmic, soft-focused, sparkling but topped with a choral chant that comes in from nowhere and arrests every sense as the elements rise and fuse with theatre.
By far one of Man Power’s most techno-focused and biggest records to date.

Inspired by subversive communities, all pulling together for a greater cause, his background in underground parties can be felt in everything he's done so far: his work with the Ancient Future Now label, his vast imaginative techno constructions and now his work with Jennifer Cardini's long-standing community Correspondant with the widescreen odyssey that is 'Chorus'
Six slices of evocative narrative-rich electronic soul inspired by his on-going international experiences on the road; loaded with poignant introspection, thunderous rumbles and playful theatrics, the EP is bookended by two versions of 'Chorus', a vision of scorching hope and lift that can seize a full floor's attention in seconds and full live up to the track's title, message and meaning. Last seen baring his musical soul on Maceo Plex's Ellum, innovative Valencian artist FiberRoot now makes his debut on Correspondant. Making himself known with three soul surging originals; FiberRoot's spell-binding aesthetic and diverse palette complements Jennifer Cardini's label perfectly as it taps deep into most rudimental electronic foundations.
'Suddenly' sets the agenda: teaming up with OG maestro Dino Lenny, the title tracks hits with authentic blasts of Italo romance and rich analog craft. 'Echo Silent' follows suit with more of a droning, loopy, wall-of-sound surge of introspective hypnosis while 'Looking From The Outside' hits with more a clash-style feeling thanks to its loose drums and sweaty throbbing electro bassline.
Remix-wise Glasgow's MR TC goes Nordic with his mystic refix of 'Echo Silent' while Jonathan Kusuma takes 'Suddenly' to deeper, darker, driving places. Three arresting originals, two immaculate versions; 'Suddenly' is a landmark release for this exciting enigmatic man. We suspect he'll be corresponding with us again very soon….

It's time to re-engage with your inner peace as Yovav follows his previous Correspondant cameo ('Andiamo' on 'Compilation 05' in case you're wondering) with this sublime exercise in horizontalism. Charmingly balmy, harmonic and hypnotic; this is the sound of Yovav bathing us in a gilded sonic sunset. Well… It's not called 'Caribbean Zen Mode' for nothing,
Remix-wise we're in for a treat as Tuff City Kid Gerd Janson lays down a delicious hip-swaying Balearic version. Delicately layered with glistening guitars, chimes, harps and a rolling percussive groove that opens up into a broken swing while the steady kick matches the slinky, sultry bass notes, it comes complete with its own bonus drum groove for added deep mix creativity.
Inner peace found, zen mode activated. Thank you Yovav.

Hot on the heels of their role on Correspondant Compilation Five, Mexican maestros Zombies In Miami return to Jennifer Cardini's label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams.
Following recent disco excursions on Hippie Dance and Bordello A Parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with 'Take Control' and 'Last Gun'.
'Take Control' is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while 'Last Gun' firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. Complete with on-point remixes from the Lipsky brothers' Simple Symmetry and Benedikt Frey & Nadia D'Alo's INIT project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.

Something special: Frenchman Sebastien Bouchet is launching his brand-new Sebastopol project. New name, same deliciously deviant electronica: his debut is compiled with serious detail and a cool coherency of humanised textures, trippiness and barbed, shadowy soul. ‘Assassin’ shoots to kill with its pranged-out toplines, gloriously wonked-out bass hooked and slurred vocal elements while ‘Manethon’ trips out on a broken note and melts into one of Sebastien’s most magically far-out breakdowns to date. The remixers echo his unique creativity with two suberb versions: Alessandro Adriani whips up dense layers of psychedelic tech on ‘Assassin’, while Privacy adds a gritty physical crunch to ‘Manethon’. Bringing the whole package together with a range that will resonate with all corners, this signs the start of a whole new chapter for Sebastopol. We can’t wait to hear what he brings next.

Raunachte huntsmen Die Wilde Jagd return to Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant. Previously spotted on the label’s far-reaching ‘Compilation 4’ album earlier this year, the duo ride back into town with two more chilling tales. Building on the immersive, otherworldly scenes they’ve painted on Bureau B – including last year’s self-titled album – the duo, comprising Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp, continue to paint lavish landscape scenery with thick oil paint synthesis
‘Geisterfahrer’ (translating to wrong-way driver or ghost driver) is all about the anticipation. The second those introductory cymbals splash and the sinewy synth bass texture start to loop there’s an overwhelming sense of drama and suspense that pays off with every detailed ingredient. We hurtle through the night to the sound of ‘Drachenfels’. As its name suggests, it’s a mountainous sonic hike which surges higher and higher into the clouds. Bar by bar, ripple by ripple the scenery and physicality grows with a sense of triumph as more elements are added. Reaching the summit the moment the beats finally kick in.
It’s down to DFA’s Factory Floor to close this vast atmospheric scene with a remix. And they do so with a beautifully blunt electro twist where chunky 909 drums punch a slo-mo break while immense dubby washes of drums scatter down across the analogue groove with a kilter-teasing defiance. A fittingly brazen contrast to the cinematica conjured by Beck and Philipp. More

Correspondant can finally reveal the release of the remixes for Man Power’s debut LP, which was released last year on Correspondant. A year in the making, the remix package features artists and friends hand-picked by both Jennifer Cardini and Man Power himself. Disco Halal’s Moscoman remixes the baggy splendour of Beilsteiner, creating a rolling and belching extended opus more focused toward the peak time dance floor. Hivern Disc’s JMII takes Hunting Swan and turns it inside out, exploring space with a cerebral, schizophrenic quality. Alternatively, Pale Blue (Mike Simonetti) takes Boys Beware and re-imagines it as an aggressive drum workout. Completing the package, Suade, the artist who also mastered the original album, replaces TEN’s balearic leanings with an IDM sensibility, yet still retains the optimism of the original track. All 4 remixes manage to exist as distinct works in their own right, while paying homage to the "magpie" approach of the original long player.

Correspondant 40 was born in 2012 with the first ever meeting of Benoit Gagnon and Massimiliano Pagliara. Benoit initially sent the tracks that now form the "In Spirals" EP to Massimiliano for nothing more than feedback. However Massi felt so inspired by the music that he felt compelled to add his personal analogue touch. Opening track ‚In Spirals' is an unabashed ode to funked up baselines and sparkling Italo melodies. ‚Agamous' pulls us in to sensual acid territory by taking 808 beats and 303 beeps into unchartered sexy locales. ‚Go South' continues the sexed up and synthy motif, and throws some electricised jungle drumming into the mix, making this the most intense and darkest track on the EP. ‚Don't Push Me', begins its journey with a more grooving disco percussion line and then heaps on some Chicago pads, ultimately blossoming into a full blown hands-in-the-air synth-exercise.

max jones - L.M.M
Coming from the traffic-saturated streets and lo-fi screamo scene of Mexico City, rising producer Max Jones makes his debut on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant label with the Cornetto EP. A onetime member of a guitar-driven punk posse, Jones' more recent work as an electronic producer favors heavily syncopated drums, eerie atmospheres, and wry humor. His discography to date includes a recent joint EP with Eddie Mercury as Los Mekanikos for Sanfuentes, the imprint headed by Chilean producer and Cómeme label co-founder Vicente Sanfuentes, and he also helped initiate Mexican labels Electrique Music and Disque Discos, together with Mercury and Alec Sander (appearing on Cornetto as Mijo). Jones' upcoming effort marks Correspondant's 30th release, and comprises four tracks of drum machine-led workouts. Lead cut "Cornetto" starts things off in the label's signature style of deep, dark dancefloor warmups, with a live-feel percussive line and foggy drones shot through with confrontational midrange sirens. "Uh Oh" opens at a clip with an electrified, alien pulse, but keeps to the stripped-back core elements of thrashing cymbals and two alternating vocal samples. "Slow feat. Mijo" finds Jones teaming up with ongoing collaborator Alec Sander in a sinister, new wave-inspired cut, built around a narcotic vocal mantra and resonant, oscillating synths, while the minimal, throbbing bassline of "L.M.M" follows its own trail into a sonic wormhole, offset by crispy hi-hats to round out the EP.
