Patrice Bäumel - Luce feat. Chiara Gamo
2
Patrice Bäumel - The Cave
Patrice Bäumel makes his most welcome return to Kompakt’s Speicher series and it’s exactly as compelling as you expect it to be. “Luce” is a slenderly pumping piece of minimal soul featuring the otherworldly voice of Chiara Gamo. Once more, Patrice masterfully demonstrates how little elements he needs to create suspense, density and warmth on the floor. “The Cave” follows the same mantra, sucking us into a mystique stalactite cave full of echoing droplets and enchanting whispers. We follow him blindly.

patrice bäumel - Dum Dum
2
patrice bäumel - Surge
A powerful addition to PATRICE BÄUMEL's steadily growing Kompakt catalogue, SPEICHER 89 is the third contribution to the series from the Dutch producer and former Trouw resident. Hitting dance floors in the wake of SPEICHER 81 (KOMPAKT EXTRA 81) and SPEICHER 85 (KOMPAKT EXTRA 85), his latest 12" offering brings you a duo of massive belters, headlined by cyber-calypso manifesto DUM DUM and backed by techno string showdown SURGE. Both tracks nourish some serious bass drops while showcasing an artist invested in carefully crafted melody and impeccable flow - excellent material from a leading beatsmith and DJ who knows how to woo a crowd.

Repress!
Color-coded in juicy red, SPEICHER 85 features smoldering new material from none other than PATRICE BÄUMEL, one of the most revered resident DJs and techno innovators from Amsterdam's iconic, but sadly defunct Trouw club. Starting out in the mid-noughties, he has earned his production stripes on labels as diverse as Trapez, Get Physical or Systematic, with his latest highlights being last year's stellar remix for GusGus' OBNOXIOUSLY SEXUAL (KOMPAKT DIGITAL 044) and the label solo debut on SPEICHER 81 (KOMPAKT EXTRA 81), a raw and energetic offering that turned out to be a mind-bender carving out its very own definition of a hookline. A relentless sonic adventurer in both studio and club trenches, Patrice knows his peak time by heart, having developed quite the understanding of the fluctuations of the crowd before him. You can hear that straightaway with a-side cut LOWRIDER, a clattering minimalist groover with maximum impact, vetting helplessly stuck floors with a surge of adrenalin-fuelled percussion and the occasional synth roar. The b-side's THE VANISHING presents itself as an equally hypnotic affair, albeit with a different angle - this time, we find a true melodic meltdown monster whose epic vocal break will leave no roof or hand unraised. With records like these, we've got no worries about the sheer, animalistic power of techno. More

patrice bäumel - Mile High Gang
2
patrice bäumel - Vertigo
Starting out in 2001 to tie up some loose ends from our regulars, SPEICHER has since become a guarantee for vanguard dance sounds from all over the planet, allowing KOMPAKT to invite and support electronic artists that comfortably inhabit both the delicate and the more deliberate ends of the electronic music spectrum. For SPEICHER 81, Amsterdam-based DJ and producer PATRICE BÄUMEL presents two adventurous minimal epics with decidedly mind-bending propensities.
As a long-running resident DJ at Amsterdam's renowned Trouw club, PATRICE BÄUMEL certainly knows how to draw in a crowd, having proven his skillful approach to hypnotic techno time and time again, as an impeccable host as well as an internationally acclaimed guest DJ in the world's leading venues. Just as his DJ sets, Patrice likes to infuse his own music with raw energy and a sense for sonic adventure - MILE HIGH GANG serves as a perfect example for his credo, underpinning its vibrant synth sequences with a meticulously crafted - and intensely propelling - beat.
The true mind bender, however, arrives with the flipside's aptly named VERTIGO, a deceptively simple, yet unstoppable son of a pitch shifter, cutting its way through spiralling serpentines in dizzying heights. Never one to let himself get bogged down by genre markers or scene compliancy, PATRICE BÄUMEL commutes between electronic factions with ease: he caters to a purist crowd as well as those in dire need of sonic surprises, giving both daydreamers and nighthawks something to rock out about. B1. Heart for Yes. Like for No (04:51)
B2. Hubris (06:42)
Key Selling Points
The mighty Man Power returns to Correspondant. One of the earliest labels to champion his explorative technoid landscapes, and deliver his debut album, the Mexico based composer makes a welcome return with three truly singular trips…
‘The Zen Of Xen’ comes in two segued parts, comprising almost 13 minutes of full intergalactic immersion. Laced with the alluring deep-dream vocals of Tel Aviv’s Xen, anchored with tripped-out humanized harmonics and weaved with soaring pads, it’s a genuinely emotional narrative that’s been cooking away on Man Power’s creative wishlist since he first met Xen at a show five years ago.
Elsewhere ‘Heart For Yes, Life For No’ will have you spitting rainbow emojis all night. An incredible piece of vibrant melodic techno rooted in synthesis, galvanized with emotive layers, driven by feels it sets us up perfectly for the fantastical finale ‘Hubris’. Cosmic, soft-focused, sparkling but topped with a choral chant that comes in from nowhere and arrests every sense as the elements rise and fuse with theatre.
By far one of Man Power’s most techno-focused and biggest records to date.

The chorus: that moment where everyone connects and participates in unity. A moment anyone who's shared a dancefloor can recognise whether it's a festival arena, subterranean dark room or an illegal rave in a field, warehouse or any abandoned canvas between… Like the ones Cologne's Julian Stetter has come from.
Inspired by subversive communities, all pulling together for a greater cause, his background in underground parties can be felt in everything he's done so far: his work with the Ancient Future Now label, his vast imaginative techno constructions and now his work with Jennifer Cardini's long-standing community Correspondant with the widescreen odyssey that is 'Chorus'
Six slices of evocative narrative-rich electronic soul inspired by his on-going international experiences on the road; loaded with poignant introspection, thunderous rumbles and playful theatrics, the EP is bookended by two versions of 'Chorus', a vision of scorching hope and lift that can seize a full floor's attention in seconds and full live up to the track's title, message and meaning. A1 - Dino Lenny & Fiberroot "Suddenly"
A2 - Fiberroot "Echo Silent" (MR TC Remix)
B1 - Fiberroot "Echo Silent"
B2 - Dino Lenny & Fiberoot "Suddenly" (Jonathan Kusuma Remix)
Last seen baring his musical soul on Maceo Plex's Ellum, innovative Valencian artist FiberRoot now makes his debut on Correspondant. Making himself known with three soul surging originals; FiberRoot's spell-binding aesthetic and diverse palette complements Jennifer Cardini's label perfectly as it taps deep into most rudimental electronic foundations.
'Suddenly' sets the agenda: teaming up with OG maestro Dino Lenny, the title tracks hits with authentic blasts of Italo romance and rich analog craft. 'Echo Silent' follows suit with more of a droning, loopy, wall-of-sound surge of introspective hypnosis while 'Looking From The Outside' hits with more a clash-style feeling thanks to its loose drums and sweaty throbbing electro bassline.
Remix-wise Glasgow's MR TC goes Nordic with his mystic refix of 'Echo Silent' while Jonathan Kusuma takes 'Suddenly' to deeper, darker, driving places. Three arresting originals, two immaculate versions; 'Suddenly' is a landmark release for this exciting enigmatic man. We suspect he'll be corresponding with us again very soon….

A1. Caribbean Zen Mode (Original)
A2. Caribbean Zen Mode (Gerd Janson's Bonus Drums)
B. Caribbean Zen Mode (Gerd Janson's Remix)
It's time to re-engage with your inner peace as Yovav follows his previous Correspondant cameo ('Andiamo' on 'Compilation 05' in case you're wondering) with this sublime exercise in horizontalism. Charmingly balmy, harmonic and hypnotic; this is the sound of Yovav bathing us in a gilded sonic sunset. Well… It's not called 'Caribbean Zen Mode' for nothing,
Remix-wise we're in for a treat as Tuff City Kid Gerd Janson lays down a delicious hip-swaying Balearic version. Delicately layered with glistening guitars, chimes, harps and a rolling percussive groove that opens up into a broken swing while the steady kick matches the slinky, sultry bass notes, it comes complete with its own bonus drum groove for added deep mix creativity.
Inner peace found, zen mode activated. Thank you Yovav.

B1. Last Gun (Original)
B2. Last Gun (INIT Remix)
Hot on the heels of their role on Correspondant Compilation Five, Mexican maestros Zombies In Miami return to Jennifer Cardini's label once again this summer with two supreme space-aged head jams.
Following recent disco excursions on Hippie Dance and Bordello A Parigi, the duo retreat to the shadier, heavyweight side of their signature with 'Take Control' and 'Last Gun'.
'Take Control' is a glacial creeper laced with frosty electroid synths and a smouldering hypnotic beat while 'Last Gun' firms our focus on the looming lower tones, creating an ominous fog for the sunlight arpeggios to climb through evocatively. Complete with on-point remixes from the Lipsky brothers' Simple Symmetry and Benedikt Frey & Nadia D'Alo's INIT project, this will have you taking control for a long time to come.

Something special: Frenchman Sebastien Bouchet is launching his brand-new Sebastopol project. New name, same deliciously deviant electronica: his debut is compiled with serious detail and a cool coherency of humanised textures, trippiness and barbed, shadowy soul. ‘Assassin’ shoots to kill with its pranged-out toplines, gloriously wonked-out bass hooked and slurred vocal elements while ‘Manethon’ trips out on a broken note and melts into one of Sebastien’s most magically far-out breakdowns to date. The remixers echo his unique creativity with two suberb versions: Alessandro Adriani whips up dense layers of psychedelic tech on ‘Assassin’, while Privacy adds a gritty physical crunch to ‘Manethon’. Bringing the whole package together with a range that will resonate with all corners, this signs the start of a whole new chapter for Sebastopol. We can’t wait to hear what he brings next.

die wilde jagd - Geisterfahrer ( Factory Floor rmx )

die wilde jagd - Drachenfels
Raunachte huntsmen Die Wilde Jagd return to Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant. Previously spotted on the label’s far-reaching ‘Compilation 4’ album earlier this year, the duo ride back into town with two more chilling tales. Building on the immersive, otherworldly scenes they’ve painted on Bureau B – including last year’s self-titled album – the duo, comprising Ralf Beck and Sebastian Lee Philipp, continue to paint lavish landscape scenery with thick oil paint synthesis
‘Geisterfahrer’ (translating to wrong-way driver or ghost driver) is all about the anticipation. The second those introductory cymbals splash and the sinewy synth bass texture start to loop there’s an overwhelming sense of drama and suspense that pays off with every detailed ingredient. We hurtle through the night to the sound of ‘Drachenfels’. As its name suggests, it’s a mountainous sonic hike which surges higher and higher into the clouds. Bar by bar, ripple by ripple the scenery and physicality grows with a sense of triumph as more elements are added. Reaching the summit the moment the beats finally kick in.
It’s down to DFA’s Factory Floor to close this vast atmospheric scene with a remix. And they do so with a beautifully blunt electro twist where chunky 909 drums punch a slo-mo break while immense dubby washes of drums scatter down across the analogue groove with a kilter-teasing defiance. A fittingly brazen contrast to the cinematica conjured by Beck and Philipp. More

man power - Boys Beware ( Pale Blue Rmx )
Correspondant can finally reveal the release of the remixes for Man Power’s debut LP, which was released last year on Correspondant. A year in the making, the remix package features artists and friends hand-picked by both Jennifer Cardini and Man Power himself. Disco Halal’s Moscoman remixes the baggy splendour of Beilsteiner, creating a rolling and belching extended opus more focused toward the peak time dance floor. Hivern Disc’s JMII takes Hunting Swan and turns it inside out, exploring space with a cerebral, schizophrenic quality. Alternatively, Pale Blue (Mike Simonetti) takes Boys Beware and re-imagines it as an aggressive drum workout. Completing the package, Suade, the artist who also mastered the original album, replaces TEN’s balearic leanings with an IDM sensibility, yet still retains the optimism of the original track. All 4 remixes manage to exist as distinct works in their own right, while paying homage to the "magpie" approach of the original long player.

Label owner Jennifer Cardini has invited a cavalcade of Correspondant’s core family (Man Power, Red Axes, Javi Redondo, Doll Kraut), closest collaborators (Axel Boman Boruisade), and newest friends (Chida, Yovav, Dollkraut, Kiwi, Jonathan Kusuma, Autarkic) to show the world that Correspondant has a synthetic heart of punk which pumps glacial disco through its frozen veins.

Romanian born, and Berlin Based, Borusiade (aka Miruna Boruzescu) makes her Correspondant debut in dazzlingly bleak fashion. Over a four track EP the artist manages to channel a wealth of disparate sounds, referencing Giallo disco, New Wave longing and Pitched-down ghetto techno amongst other dark and otherworldly tropes. All of the music on offer here possesses a slow and dark drive that purposes it for the dance floor, but also contain such a wealth of loss despair, and a perverse pathos that elevates them from simple dance music and move them in to a more artistic realm.

Correspondant 40 was born in 2012 with the first ever meeting of Benoit Gagnon and Massimiliano Pagliara. Benoit initially sent the tracks that now form the "In Spirals" EP to Massimiliano for nothing more than feedback. However Massi felt so inspired by the music that he felt compelled to add his personal analogue touch. Opening track ‚In Spirals' is an unabashed ode to funked up baselines and sparkling Italo melodies. ‚Agamous' pulls us in to sensual acid territory by taking 808 beats and 303 beeps into unchartered sexy locales. ‚Go South' continues the sexed up and synthy motif, and throws some electricised jungle drumming into the mix, making this the most intense and darkest track on the EP. ‚Don't Push Me', begins its journey with a more grooving disco percussion line and then heaps on some Chicago pads, ultimately blossoming into a full blown hands-in-the-air synth-exercise.

Coming from the traffic-saturated streets and lo-fi screamo scene of Mexico City, rising producer Max Jones makes his debut on Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant label with the Cornetto EP. A onetime member of a guitar-driven punk posse, Jones' more recent work as an electronic producer favors heavily syncopated drums, eerie atmospheres, and wry humor. His discography to date includes a recent joint EP with Eddie Mercury as Los Mekanikos for Sanfuentes, the imprint headed by Chilean producer and Cómeme label co-founder Vicente Sanfuentes, and he also helped initiate Mexican labels Electrique Music and Disque Discos, together with Mercury and Alec Sander (appearing on Cornetto as Mijo). Jones' upcoming effort marks Correspondant's 30th release, and comprises four tracks of drum machine-led workouts. Lead cut "Cornetto" starts things off in the label's signature style of deep, dark dancefloor warmups, with a live-feel percussive line and foggy drones shot through with confrontational midrange sirens. "Uh Oh" opens at a clip with an electrified, alien pulse, but keeps to the stripped-back core elements of thrashing cymbals and two alternating vocal samples. "Slow feat. Mijo" finds Jones teaming up with ongoing collaborator Alec Sander in a sinister, new wave-inspired cut, built around a narcotic vocal mantra and resonant, oscillating synths, while the minimal, throbbing bassline of "L.M.M" follows its own trail into a sonic wormhole, offset by crispy hi-hats to round out the EP.
