In March 2016 Red Rack’em pressed up 300 copies of a record called ‘Wonky Bassline Disco Banger’. It was more than just a quirky title though - it quickly became THE crossover hit of the year. Described as ‘game changing’ by all that heard it pre-release. They were right.
The first pressing sold out before it even hit the shops. 2 months later, it was on its third repress. By the end of the year it had sold over 3,000 copies on vinyl. Crowned ‘Record Of The Year’ by multiple record shops. Number 5 in the German club chart. Elton John called it ‘Unbeatable’.

Red Rack’em is back with a new series devoted to the beautiful, self torturous art of overthinking, With the whole world stuck in a funk of uncertainty, it feels like a good time to blast away those cobwebs of uncertainty and release some music inspired by procrastination, quadruple guessing, agonizing over mixdowns (he’s never happy), using volume automation, channel gains AND bussing to create a melange of engineering cross purpose and take the writer even deeper into an artistically redundant mental cul de sac, which bears witness to countless stalled 3 point turn attempts. And that’s on a good day.
‘Train Of Thought’ is a 10 minute opus taking the listener on a head trip across the shattered mind of a post rehab, rave casualty struggling to piece together the last 20 years of memories. Wonky synths, banging breaks, ragga vocals and a 5 stage journey track ensure maximum value per minute. This is a feature length track with zero filler.
‘New August’ is a homage to Dannys smoked out jazz hip hop teen years put through the 2021 blender. Dusty samples and subs mix with an almost 2 step feel. Plenty of sudden changes and a biblical ending with Moses chiselling out the tablets over the top of an insistent beat.
Final thought ‘Overthinking’ closes with a neverending trance inducing arpy synth playing a demented chord sequence before the beat kicks in. Sometimes it’s hard to know when to stop thinking.

In March 2018, Danny Berman aka Red Rack’em left behind the grey insanity of Berlin and headed off to the idyllic Devon Analogue Studio for the first of several productive musical retreats, giving him unprecedented access to high end synths plus the time and space to create without distraction.
After a solid 18 months of activity post album, which combined some serious air miles, relocation back to the UK (after nearly a decade living in East Berlin) some pretty magical moments, he’s back with a heavy EP of genre crossing magic which ushers forth a more edgy, psychedelic sound.
Like its disco leaning predecessor, Wonky Techno Banger is just simply a track that you have to have in your life. Combining a demented fairground melody, flappy off beat bassline and manic peak time flavour, it’s an absolute thumper which has the potential to radically transform your night/life.
Devon Analogue 4.2 comes from the same session and sees the Bergerac boss man go into euphoric electro funk mode with distorted claps, an ‘ecstasy’ synth and live slap bass.
Meanwhile back in Berlin, Rack’em was also working in Iron Curtis studio while he was on tour in the US so final track Nave Gazing was written using just the Waldorf Nave for a thoughtful ambient number to close off the EP. WIBES.

From Da Vaults…Nettles is a new series from Red Rack'ems Bergerac label which will focus on the more sample based end of things. Tracks which have remained secret weapons for many years will finally see the light of day. This first release features music which was played by quite a few heavy hitters but sadly remained lost on the hard drive…until now…‘Bill George starts of as a super funky, cut up electro disco jam which morphs into the mother of all breakdowns before drifting into super deep Detroit style house and then peaking back to the original electro funk vibes. A secret weapon for the likes of Crazy P (who featured it on their Beats In Space mix way back in 2010) and one of Red Rack'em most 'unreleased tracks requested for release', there's going to be quite a few people around the world celebrating Bill George finally making it to wax. A 30 second piece of incidental music from a long lost German children's television series is extended into a late night disco jam 'Timm' which picked up props from none other than Todd Terje when Danny extended it back in the Hot Coins edit days of 2007. Another 'lost' track which is finally seeing release…. Transfer List' began life as a hip hop beat which ended up being such an epic opus that the full glory of the track had to be unleashed. Once again a Cdr classic for a trusted few. A super funky beat evolves into a kind of honky tonk vibe sort of on the KMD tip but with added poppy vocals. Made in 2003

Jonna from City Fly remembers 'Adam had this on a CDR at Southport in 2008 and it became our official track of the festival as we all partied together the whole weekend it got played again and again back at our Chalet parties'. Then finally this year, after many pleading emails and plenty of gentle cajoling, there's some amazing news! Adam has located the broken computer and after a day of digital open heart surgery, and then a re-edit over Zoom (no really) we finally had the killer, classic UK soulful anthem you're listening to today. A voice over from a disco documentary cleverly introduces each instrument on the intro before Tommy pushes the button marked 'biggest bassline of the year' and takes us into boogie heaven.
'Sound Crazy' on the flip is another one of those classic Afrobeat tinged Tommy rollers. Big room vibes but with a lot of soul. Rolling broken drums and a huge bassline combine with plenty of spicy, tropical atmosphere on top. The trademark Rawson uplifting chords begin after an anticipatory vibe filled breakdown, taking you to the stratosphere.
'Ads Mood' is the most 'classical' broken beat track on the record, but they are all playable in multiple environments and transcend mere genres. Heavy bass and extra funky syncopated beats climax into a beautiful almost orchestral feel to close off an exemplary EP of higher quality moods and emotions. Don't sleep.

Red Rack’em is back with a new series devoted to the beautiful, self torturous art of overthinking, With the whole world stuck in a funk of uncertainty, it feels like a good time to blast away those cobwebs of uncertainty and release some music inspired by procrastination, quadruple guessing, agonizing over mixdowns (he’s never happy), using volume automation, channel gains AND bussing to create a melange of engineering cross purpose and take the writer even deeper into an artistically redundant mental cul de sac, which bears witness to countless stalled 3 point turn attempts. And that’s on a good day.

In March 2018, Danny Berman aka Red Rack’em left behind the grey insanity of Berlin and headed off to the idyllic Devon Analogue Studio for the first of several productive musical retreats, giving him unprecedented access to high end synths plus the time and space to create without distraction.
After a solid 18 months of activity post album, which combined some serious air miles, relocation back to the UK (after nearly a decade living in East Berlin) some pretty magical moments, he’s back with a heavy EP of genre crossing magic which ushers forth a more edgy, psychedelic sound.
Like its disco leaning predecessor, Wonky Techno Banger is just simply a track that you have to have in your life. Combining a demented fairground melody, flappy off beat bassline and manic peak time flavour, it’s an absolute thumper which has the potential to radically transform your night/life.
Devon Analogue 4.2 comes from the same session and sees the Bergerac boss man go into euphoric electro funk mode with distorted claps, an ‘ecstasy’ synth and live slap bass.
Meanwhile back in Berlin, Rack’em was also working in Iron Curtis studio while he was on tour in the US so final track Nave Gazing was written using just the Waldorf Nave for a thoughtful ambient number to close off the EP. WIBES.

Estonian pioneer Raul Saaramets exists in many parallel musical universes and this is reflected in his stellar output as Ajukaja, mining a rich furrow of stand out, oddball yet eminently danceable, groovy house and beat experiments. As the program co-director for Estonia's national radio station Raadio 2, he's given his country unprecedented access to some of the hottest music on this planet. He's also made some of the finest underground dance records over the last few years including 'Stranger', 'Benga Benga' and "Rare Birds' (made with long time production partner Andrevski) which were hammered by the scenes elite. His Bergerac debut has been a long time coming but well worth the wait. Mhmhmh is a super vibey late night burner which quite obviously gets its title from the faintly Germanic, sleazy vocal sample which goes 'um hum um hum'. Sklad trips you out even more with a mangled, ecstasy tinged fading in(tro) which gives you 'that' feeling. Ajukajal puts his disco hat on for side 2 with Ekleeer. A super danceable disco cut rolls out until the vocals drop in and you realise that David Lynch is on the remix. Walk previously saw light as a tape only track but it's playful scuffed up jiggery pokery cried out for a vinyl release so here it is..

Berlin based Jens Dohle is a man of many talents. An accomplished composer and arranger for theatre productions across Europe, classically trained multi instrumentalist, explosive live drummer for YE:SOLAR, Munk, Hot Coins, Sado Opera. Longtime collaborator with Danilo Plessow aka MCDE and Noema from African Shakedown fame. His first EP as James Dole (a jokingly anglicised version of his birth name) showcases his ability to create a strong mood and use great splashes of melody and rhythm but without ever losing the groove. 'Ex' is a moody monster of a track. It builds and builds into a pounding nightime symphony with a kind of epic-ness which hints at many years spent mining the highs and lows of music, love and life. What more can be said about 2016 for Red Rack'em apart from MASSIVE? In March, he released the instant classic Wonky Bassline Disco Banger which has been one of the biggest selling house tracks of the year, picking up praise and plays across the board from Moodymann, The Black Madonna and MCDE right through to Disclosure and Mark Ronson. Repeated Radio 1 plays, festival bookings and licensing from Classic soon followed. WBDB was the first single taken from the Self Portrait LP which is due out in Feb 2017 but before that we have another preview of the first full Red Rack'em long player in the form of Tomato Pope. Tomato Pope is a slamming party banger. Somewhere between house, techno, African music and broken beat, the drums are driving, the bassline is huge and the vocal samples get mangled throughout the track. It's another guaranteed floor wrecker from Red Rack'em and gives a tantalising taste of the LP weight to follow. Ocaj is a demented funky leftfield house jam which twist and turns relentlessly like a Scottish broad without power steering. Imagine a hip hip cats jazzy jam session recorded on a ghetto blaster being diced by a hip hop great. The samples get chopped like garlic cloves in a top chefs kitchen. Bon appetite! Rhodes House closes the single with a dreamy, drifty promise of greater things to come. Named in that super descriptive Red Rack'em style, jazz club samples are meshed with super uplifting Rhodes chops to give you that 'aaah' feeling. You can pull a jazz face to this. It's allowed. 2010 ended with a bang for both Berman and Bergerac with the release of the instant classic first single How I Program, which received massive support from a wide range of DJs including Gilles Peterson, Kyle Hall, The Revenge, Move D and Mike Huckaby. This was quickly followed by the debut Red Rack?em album The Early Years, which was awarded album of the month in De:Bug Magazine and received universal praise from both the press and DJs alike. Since the album was released in November 2010, Danny has been hard at work touring the world and preparing the follow up single Feel My Tears. He?s currently on a sabbatical in Berlin and it?s the perfect backdrop for his current musical direction. The Bergerac label artwork features bespoke illustrations from German artist Silke Eiselt of all the houses Danny has lived in chronologically. The A side Feel My Tears is a warehouse burner on many levels. Perfect for those summer evenings of drug loneliness. B1 Courting is a big room post-post-dustep UK garage-house stomper with a very loud snare drum. The last track on the record How We Do is a strange jazz techno house hybrid, taken from the Early Years album and now available on vinyl due to popular demand.

We Release Jazz (WRWTFWW Records' new sister-label) is proud to present its first release, the official reissue of Ryo Fukui's highly sought-after masterpiece Scenery (1976), sourced from the original masters and available on limited edition 180g vinyl mastered at half speed for audiophile sound and on digipack CD.
Unquestionably one of the most important Japanese jazz albums ever recorded, Scenery reveals Ryo Fukui as a miraculously brilliant self-taught pianist fusing modal, bop, and cool jazz influences for a very personal, dexterous and game-changing take on classic standards made famous by Bing Crosby and John Coltrane among others. From "It Could Happen To You" and its serene and calm intro which magically flows into a jubilant and upbeat piece, to the out-of-this-world piano solo of "Early Summer", or the incredible teamwork of "Autumn Leaves" where Fukui leads Satoshi Denpo (bass) and Yoshinori Fukui (drums) into groove heaven, every single note on the album oozes precision, confidence and flair and every single section slides seamlessly into one another, creating a supreme and elegant blend of jazz. Often compared to McCoy Tyner or Bill Evans, Ryo Fukui was a genius in his own right, a true master of his craft whose perfectionism gave birth to some of the greatest music ever recorded. Scenery is his magnum opus and an absolute must-have.
The Hokkaido wizard-pianist followed Scenery with the soulful gem Mellow Dream (also available on We Release Jazz) in 1977. He then focused on improving his live skills, often performing at Sapporo's Slowboat Jazz Club (which he co-founded with his wife Yasuko Fukui) and releasing 2 live albums. Ryo Fukui sadly passed away in March 2016, leaving behind a legacy of works that is sure to captivate jazz lovers for generations to come.

More than once Jay Richford and Gary Stevan’s Feelings has been described as the greatest library record ever released. Of course Be With can’t be seen to be playing favourites, but we have to admit, it’s pretty good. Insanely rare and immensely sought-after, it’s a tough funk, street jazz masterpiece coveted for many years by collectors of all musical genres.
Since its original release on Italian label Carosello in 1974, Feelings has appeared on several labels with different sleeves and even under a different artist. Indeed cult library label Conroy put it out in one of their iconic red sleeves in 1976 and yes, Feelings has indeed had more than one modern re-issue since these “original” releases. But a record this special deserves to be kept in press and we think it deserves the Be With treatment.
No, Jay Richford and Gary Stevan aren’t two of the most Italian sounding names. As the story goes these were the pseudonyms adopted by Stefano Torossi and Giancarlo Gazzani who wrote the album but couldn’t use their real names on the original release for legal reasons. But Stefano Torossi himself later both clarified and confused the tale further by explaining that Feelings was the work of four people not just Gazzani and himself. Fellow composers and musicians Sandro Brugnolini and Puccio Roelens also worked on the album and as Torossi himself explained “we all worked together”, with all four gents “dividing the royalties in equal parts… that’s the story.” Right, so, with that all sorted out let’s get back to talking about the music. And what music it is.
Long hailed as a holy grail of library music, Feelings is the epitome of the sort of cinematic orchestral jazzy funk that is “that 70s library music sound”. Infectiously funky, deliciously melodic and with impeccible, elegant production, this record is the showcase for a stunning set of compositions and arrangements and with performances that are nothing short of virtuoso.
The record’s first side lifts off with “Flying High”, soaring brilliant and shimmering. Funk licks, menacing strings and swaggering horns combine for an ice-cold intro groove that Isaac Hayes would surely have envied, before the steady-paced drums deliver the slo-mo TKO. The string-drenched cop-funk of “Going Home” raises the tempo. All funky quick-fire bass lines and killer electric guitar soloing. A real thriller.
“Walking In The Dark” positively drips in blaxploitation-funk drama strings and horn struts, all laced with delicate drums, velvet piano and more filthy wah-wah. “Fighting For Life” is another funk-fuelled workout built around an effortlessly relentless drum track that refuses to give up until even the stiffest-necked head is nodding.
The loping, open drum break that guides the much-loved “Feeling Tense” through its early stages would be good enough on its own. The heavy bass gloss, swirling strings and ominous horns that follow take things to the next level.
The second side opens with another favourite “Running Fast”, and the track does precisely that. This is one fine rollicking chase theme underpinned by frenetic (yet funky) Fender Rhodes and skipping bass and drums. Those sweeping strings are a gorgeous extra. It’s a deliciously feel-good groove that sets the heart racing.
“Loving Tenderly” envelops us in warm, velvety night-time vibes with easy listening horns and slinky strings dialing up the seduction. Definitely one for the lithe lovers out there. The pace picks up on the electrifying “Fearing Much” where strings dart around deep bass, buzzing guitars and another funky drum break. The lush, melancholic “Being Friendly” is another easy beauty, all warm Rhodes and strings. Majestic stuff that puts an aural arm around you. The climactic “Having Fun” rides a pulsating, bass-heavy drum break with snatches of a funky guitar refrain, some luxurious keys, sweeping strings and triumphant horns. Sensational.
“Feelings” is a profoundly appropriate title for such an emotionally funky and genuinely affecting record. Groove-laden bass, irrepressible horns, sweet flute lines, warm Rhodes, lush string arrangements, blaxploitation-styled wah-wah guitars and so, so much more make this one of the finest instrumental soul LPs of the 70s, if not of all time.
The audio for this re-issue of Feelings comes from the original analogue tapes and has been remastered for vinyl by Be With regular Simon Francis and cut by Pete Norman. The same care has been taken by the Be With team to restore that glorious original Carosello sleeve. Feelings is almost too good to be true. Feels good all over.

The undisputed Godfather of Boogie, Leroy Burgess’s Logg project is his grand masterpiece.
The self-titled LP, originally released on Salsoul in August 1981, is one of the greatest albums of the post-disco era. It’s one of Be With’s favourite ever LPs and so it’s a complete honour to be giving it our reissue treatment. With all the touchstones of Burgess’s finest work - breezy grooves, undulating synths, funk-drenched bass and life-affirming lyrics - delivered with gospel-derived vocals and harmonies - it’s a record to uplift both body and spirit.
Already a cult soul figure as lead singer of seminal vocal group Black Ivory, Leroy Burgess cut his teeth as arranger, vocalist and songwriter with legendary producer Patrick Adams on essential late-70s projects like Phreek and Dazzle. He went on to define the essence of “boogie”: the vibrant underground dance sound that stood in contrast to commercial disco. With its reduced speed - mid-90 to under 110 BPM - the cool boogie of Burgess has the disco bounce, just more laidback.
All six tracks here could have been stand alone 12" hits. Indeed, some of them were. But together they are also an incredibly cohesive album, where all the compositions are deeply relevant to each other. In short, it’s essential; a thrilling showcase for Burgess’s finest arranging and production work - with his vocals at their euphoric peak alongside the inventive rhythm section of Aaron (Sonny) T. Davenport on drums and James Calloway on bass.
Opener “(You’ve Got) That Something” is a balmy sunshine groover with an insistent chorus whilst the timeless vocal of “Dancing Into The Stars” - married to percolating synth and airtight drums - showcases the chemistry between Burgess and the rhythm section.
The fusion of funk and gospel-influenced harmonies which propels “Something Else” is remarkable - deep, joyous and bouncy. Infamously mixed by Larry Levan, “I Know You Will” is an easy glide, all rollicking electric piano underpinned by a precise and relentlessly upbeat groove. “Lay It On The Line” radiates smooth, understated brilliance, elevated by interstellar keys and finally album-closer “Sweet To Me” is a chilled-out gem of profound soulful elegance.
Logg has long been a hit with the likes of Kenny Dope and Dam-Funk whilst, in the last decade, MCDE and Harvey Sutherland have routinely cited it as a huge influence. Accordingly, finding original copies on vinyl at affordable prices has been a thankless task. This fresh Be With reissue ensures this legendary record now sounds, looks and feels as sensational as it deserves to.
Mastered brilliantly by Simon Francis, cut by Pete Norman and with lovingly reproduced artwork, we think this is a reissue that does justice to this classic LP.

Selah Sue was not destined to become an artist. "I grew up in a really little town in Belgium, and none of my family was into music," reveals the twenty-one year old, with refreshing sincerity. "As a kid, I wanted to be a ballerina. I danced from the age of six to twelve".
Even without romanticising it, her story is like a fairy tale. It's the story of a young musician who ignores her fate, and pours her anxieties into her songs and her guitar. "I had all these worries and depressions that I wrote down, it was a way of structuring my thoughts".
She turns her doubts into soul, funk and reggae melodies, trying hard to be worthy of her idols, Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu and Bob Marley. Then Farhot (Nneka) and Patrice take on the production of her first album. Meshell Ndegeocello stays with her in the studio for two days to produce the track "Mommy". Cee-Lo Green agrees to accompany her on a duet and ends up asking her to put the track ("Please") on his own album. And, last but not least, last autumn Prince offered her a coveted support slot at his show in Antwerp, Belgium.
To put it in a nutshell, in just two years, Selah Sue has fulfilled her dreams. To keep her grounded, she has insisted on keeping the songs she wrote during her teens for her debut album. It's a way of reminding the world that she has not been unfairly spoiled by destiny and that before Prince, Cee-Lo Green, radio play and incredible press, there was just a teenage girl, with her guitar, who was chosen spontaneously by fans on the net.

If ever an album could transport you to the hazy sunshine and imagined halcyon paradise of Southern California in the mid-1980s, could capture the early evening warmth of hanging at an inclusive boogie jam as it approaches “magic hour” in Santa Ana or Anaheim, then it’s Vaughan Mason and Butch Dayo’s Feel My Love. A brilliantly produced deep slung, low rider funk classic originally released on Salsoul in 1983. It’s a masterpiece of “funk love music”.
Yes, this is indeed a perfectly formed five track “mini LP” of unparalleled heat, but there’s one song here that, above the rest, represents Orange County boogie-funk. A straight killer beloved by all that have had the pleasure of moving to it. A track that can fill up a dance floor within seconds of its starting. That song is the eternal title track, “Feel My Love”.
This is a work of art that made people fall in love with the funk. It transcends the limitations of genre. “Feel My Love”’s deceptive simplicity makes it perfect to drop during a house set, a classic funk party or at a west coast rap jam. It’s sexy, deeply emotional, melancholic, hopeful, passionate and just radiates so, so much raw energy. This is music.
The rest of the record is hardly filler though. Opener “Oh, Love” is a dizzying, emotional slow jam. With heaven-sent vocals riding gorgeous, sweeping keys that alternate between sweet twinkling lines and funk-fuelled stabbing. It’s sensational. A rollerskating jam named “Rollalong Songs” is an ultra-swish piece of dance floor dynamite. Its slick drums, staccato piano and neck snapping claps underscore Dayo’s buoyant vocals. The flip begins with “Party On The Corner”. Smoother than silk vocals, day-glo synths, a bubbling bassline and guitar licks that surely received the Prince seal of approval. Half pinball table, half neural reactor, wired directly into a wall of aging synthesizers. The so-called Transient Witness (aka Preconscious Data Quantum Buffer) records not what people did - but what they almost did: Every flash of hesitation, every thought that vanished before becoming real, every dream erased at sunrise.
At its center pulses a synthetic brain, decoding impulses too brief for language. These signal transients are micro-events that appear and disappear in milliseconds.
When activated, the table will not play sound. It remembers it. Each collision of steel ball and sensor triggers forgotten futures, lost timelines, phantom rhythms from decisions never taken. Basslines from parallel selves. Melodies from unrealized lives. Percussion patterns from collapsing probabilities.
The 13 original tracks featured on this release are a transmission recovered from one of its sessions. Electro pulses, synaptic breaks, machine funk, and signals from thoughts that never survived long enough to exist.
