FRANKFURT'S ROBERT DIETZ FIRST SOLO RELEASE ON DESOLAT
Robert Dietz has been one of the most consistent producers around in recent years, with releases on a diverse assortment of labels including Cecille, Cadenza, Running Back and Saved Records. While Robert's 'Your So Hood' track featured on the Desolat X Sampler back in March, then this will be his long-awaited debut solo release on Desolat, and as one would expect from such a talented producer it is a an striking EP.
'Pherrox' kicks the EP off in startling style. The track has a brooding tone and trudges along, characterised by a sharp beat and a dark distorted vocal, with computerised stabs piercing the soundscape. 'Sweatshop' follows in a different vein and builds, with punchy hi-hats, acid bass, spoken word samples, a panning siren combining brilliantly and resulting in a medley of hedonistic vibes.
Next up is 'Who Am I', which takes a techier-tangent and sees an off-kilter beat, another gloriously manipulated vocal, and percussion spirals effortlessly merge on this mechanical monster. Rounding things up is 'Mind Trap', which is another robotic mutation featuring a disfigured vocal, electronic squelches, and swirling pulses of bass.
On the 'X' EP it is clear that Robert has lived up to his billing as one of the most consistently brilliant producers over the last few years. The X EP is evidence that Robert Dietz has drawn upon all his years of experience to craft an accomplished debut record for Desolat full of distorted textures, striking details and mechanical sounds.

Sure as death, there is an excerpt of his that states the opposite. In the case of Robert Dietz, it holds true. Since his first appearance on Running Back in 2009 (Forward Snipping), he did a marvelous job staying on his toes as a producer and DJ.
Rejuve-Nation showcases his talent in various alleys of electronic (dance) music with Crane Song being the prime cut here. You will get exposed to proggy house with an intelligent brush in two slightly different mixes. Imagine if Euro dance went to get a college degree or a bumper car floor and you are almost there: an almost irresistible sing a long without lyrics.
If you need help afterwards, Deranged Self Therapy is exactly what you need. IDM meets new wave drums, poignant synths mix with an upbeat hook to create a ballet piece for lovesick robots.
Centro Di Gravita reconnects those qualities with the aforementioned Crane Song ones, while giving it an acid spin, before the ambient salts of Any Plan(t)s This Weekend closes the EP off like a confident sketch for the end of a beautiful summer. A bouquet of bangers for different needs.

Former Rhein-Main homie and Robert Johnson resident Robert Dietz finally has its debut release on Live At Robert Johnson at Catalogue No. 069, which (as you may know) is the local area code of both Frankfurt and Offenbach am Main—where the Robert Johnson Club still holds strong. Being a seasoned DJ and producer, Robert Dietz surely sets the controls to a four-track Vinyl, with pleasing electroid-technoid sonic textures and subtle Acid figures, throughout this EP.
With its playful and uplifting vibe, A1 Kirby might just be inspired by the Jump’n’Run character by the same name, who may be easily imagined along that happy Acid bassline bubbling amidst synth-pads and electroid beats. A2 Honey Stash relies on a 303-esque hook bolted on a solid four-to-the-floor Kick Drum, which soon evolves into an acid-trancey flair, thanks to some kind of mangled reverb introduced at the end of the first third. Cadenza's latest release comes from a man who has made an undisputable impact on a host of A-list labels since he first began spreading his unique and invigorating sound spectrum in 2008. Hailing from Frankfurt and dividing his time between a hectic touring schedule that see's him travel the world and his studio where he compiles his exciting and technically compound productions , Robert Dietz joins Cadenza for the second time with the 'Slinger' EP.
Eclipsing the A-side is the percussion heavy and show stopper "Pandemic". Infused with sheer funk and relentless groove from its initial doors, "Pandemic" screams of sweat drenched dance floors, grinding movement and unstoppable force. Rebellious and cheeky in its sexual Latino wriggle yet modern and forward thinking in its structure; tight guitars pluck excitedly between intricate rhythm sections; so fast and furious that lines blur and beats blend in a never ending affair with the dance floor. Steaming ever forward with wriggling motion, this belting house track cannot help but infect as it rises and falls, pushes and pulls until exhaustion. Fitting its title like a glove, "Pandemic" is infectious and gripping with jazzy piano melodies and thunderous musicality. As a digital bonus, "Amesons Dub Mix" of "Pandemic" encases the original in a steel and echoing interpretation; hardened edges of metallic drums slide between piercing brass projections for a dub infused and contrasting mix.
On the flip, "Red Tops" is an adrenaline pumped fairground ride; exhilarating, dangerous and manic the smacking hand claps, jazzy cymbal crashes and spiralling drum rolls make way for a lush and rolling b-line with speeding hat's. Slurring sensually, Dietz's lyrics of "Like to ride, like to get high, like to feel the ride" say it all with their rich attitude, naughty nature and reckless allure. Are you feeling energetic? Actually, don't even bother answering. Because after hearing Robert Dietz' "Soup Opera," you'll have stamina for days. It's a charging, standup bass burner that puts house sounds to techno purposes; it's a wolf in sheep's clothing, a rainstorm at the open-air-a monster, simply put, that leaves you drenched and grinning from ear to ear. Frankfurt's Dietz has been on fire for the past couple of years, turning out tight, percussive and above all memorable tech-house concoctions for the likes of Runing Back and Cecille Numbers, but none of his productions to date have had the full-on intensity of "Soup Opera." Raw, Chicago hi-hats lash out against a rising/falling bassline as midrange drones and fluttering tones keep frothing higher and higher; the way he mans the filters feels more like sculpture than music, carving away the bass to create a dizzying sense of floating in space, until gravity comes crashing home again. Laced with birdsong, "Aurel in Wonderland" is a more pastoral affair, dappled with rich, acoustic percussive sounds, its African palette opening up into a bittersweet minor-key melody. For all its sensitive heart, the track's got backbone, with a whipcrack jack offset by supple, unquantized drums; beat after beat, it's a slack rope pulled taut, and the force sends you soaring into a galaxy of butterflies.

Loco Dice has unveiled his darkly eclectic album 'Love Letters', a 15-track embodiment of his diverse production range. Featuring the latest single 'We're Alive', the most highly anticipated record of his recent sets.
Dice's third studio album after '7 Dunham Place' and 'Underground Sound Suicide' sees him reflecting on his musical influences and connections to Dusseldorf and beyond. The album is packed with the producer's typically forceful tones, which blur the lines between house and techno. Utillising the bristling sounds and smooth drum beats, Dice's "Love Letters" album serves as an aural embodiment of the tones which make his sound so unique.
Throughout 'Love Letters', Dice uses his own vocals more frequently than on previous albums, which makes the production both trippier and more personal, representing past and present.
Addressing his listeners via special sleeve inside the 3x12" vinyl album edition, Dice writes:
"It's been a while since I've released anything in the form of an album. This time everything happened differently than my previous albums where I had the story or the concept first and where the music was my soundtrack to that story. This time the music came first - making and collecting music, having a good time in the studio without any pressure. It was not clear at all what to do with all this. To release it or not, if I have club 12" singles, or if I should just keep everything… but it felt good.
I looked around me and started to let only positive vibes into my surroundings and after I finished producing the 1st single "Roots", everything came together. The missing link was there. It was clear to me that this is an album that belongs on my label, Desolat. The music on "Love Letters" is filled with the positive energy and love that I have received around the world. Every piece on this album is like a mini letter. A Love Letter."
With a trio of collaborations on the album, Dice drafts in Serious Klein on "Selflove", Willam Djoko on "Out Of Reach" and Eddie Fowlkes on "D Town Playaz". As someone who is deeply influenced by genres like soul & funk, Dice invited German-based artist Serious Klein - who's work he has been following for the past while, to his Daddyscrib studio and a perfect blend was formed that was not only basted on their mutual African roots. When "Out Of Reach" began to take shape, it was clear for Dice that only the Amsterdam's finest - William Djoko, could provide the final shape he envisaged on the release. The third feature on the LP comes from Detroit godfather Eddie Fowlkes on the appropriately named "D Town Playaz", which features both of the artists' vocals and serves as a teaser for the things to come.
Continuing to headline the biggest clubs and festivals around the world, Loco Dice has directed his endless passion and musical sensibilities to bare upon his Desolat label, with a stream of records released from some of the most exciting artists around and supported by DJs across the globe.

Loco Dice has unveiled his darkly eclectic album 'Love Letters', a 15-track embodiment of his diverse production range. Featuring the latest single 'We're Alive', the most highly anticipated record of his recent sets.
Dice's third studio album after '7 Dunham Place' and 'Underground Sound Suicide' sees him reflecting on his musical influences and connections to Dusseldorf and beyond. The album is packed with the producer's typically forceful tones, which blur the lines between house and techno. Utillising the bristling sounds and smooth drum beats, Dice's "Love Letters" album serves as an aural embodiment of the tones which make his sound so unique.
Throughout 'Love Letters', Dice uses his own vocals more frequently than on previous albums, which makes the production both trippier and more personal, representing past and present.
Addressing his listeners via special sleeve inside the 3x12" vinyl album edition, Dice writes:
"It's been a while since I've released anything in the form of an album. This time everything happened differently than my previous albums where I had the story or the concept first and where the music was my soundtrack to that story. This time the music came first - making and collecting music, having a good time in the studio without any pressure. It was not clear at all what to do with all this. To release it or not, if I have club 12" singles, or if I should just keep everything… but it felt good.
I looked around me and started to let only positive vibes into my surroundings and after I finished producing the 1st single "Roots", everything came together. The missing link was there. It was clear to me that this is an album that belongs on my label, Desolat. The music on "Love Letters" is filled with the positive energy and love that I have received around the world. Every piece on this album is like a mini letter. A Love Letter."
With a trio of collaborations on the album, Dice drafts in Serious Klein on "Selflove", Willam Djoko on "Out Of Reach" and Eddie Fowlkes on "D Town Playaz". As someone who is deeply influenced by genres like soul & funk, Dice invited German-based artist Serious Klein - who's work he has been following for the past while, to his Daddyscrib studio and a perfect blend was formed that was not only basted on their mutual African roots. When "Out Of Reach" began to take shape, it was clear for Dice that only the Amsterdam's finest - William Djoko, could provide the final shape he envisaged on the release. The third feature on the LP comes from Detroit godfather Eddie Fowlkes on the appropriately named "D Town Playaz", which features both of the artists' vocals and serves as a teaser for the things to come.
Continuing to headline the biggest clubs and festivals around the world, Loco Dice has directed his endless passion and musical sensibilities to bare upon his Desolat label, with a stream of records released from some of the most exciting artists around and supported by DJs across the globe.

Making just as big an impression but in less direct ways, the shuffling and bubbling "Karimba" is a skittish, busy affair with tribal drums and vocal chants all layered up into something that is sure to become anthemic in Ibiza this summer. On the flip side "Hypnotised" works on getting into your brain with tight, scurrying drum and percussive patterns that never let up. It's a dense, busy arrangement that makes for a high octane ride. Last of all "Inception" takes on more of a house feel, with well swung, low slung drums bringing the groove as hammering hits and frosty synth lines keep busy up top.
This is house and techno that makes a big impact from one of the most on point producers out there right now.

Cue Romanian duo Livio & Roby. Their conceptual album project ‘Phantom Circle’ challenges us to defy the constraints of these preconceived notions. They invite us to focus on one thing and one thing only - the music.
The audience is invited to listen to 11 original tracks, each of them co-produced with an anonymous collaborator from their “circle” of friends. And there certainly are some impressive names involved: tINI,EnzoSiragusa,MartinButtrich,Guti,JulianPerez,Hector,RyanCrosson,CesarMerveille,Andrea Oliva & Premiesku. The classic Livio & Roby nuances will prevail, of course, but there will be no clear evidence about the “phantom” collaborator behind each track, apart from the music itself. By keeping the mystery on the identity of each co-producer, the duo is challenging their listeners to bypass the involuntary pre-conception and focus on the essential: listen and feel.
Livio & Roby’s emotive and mind-moving grooves have put them not only at the top of their homeland’s list of nest producers but also at the forefront of the global electronic scene. The experience developed by the collaborators in this album only echoes the magnitude of Livio & Roby’s talent, which boils down to their stamp of ambition and courage, consolidated in this project. Moby needs little introduction: the American dance producer and live performer's albums are classics of the genre that are celebrated far and wide. They have been used on thousands of adverts, have given rise to hit singles all over the world and have made him one of the most celebrated electronic music stars of our time. His 'Go' track was what started it all for him back in the 90's, and was a bona fide club classic of the day. It still resonates today and always gets crowds going. Now it has been remixed twice by Loco Dice, who has added his own stamp to it in distinctive fashion.
His first excellent version is eight minutes of chunky and tribal drums, with rubber kicks, clipped horn stabs and big hits all building the pressure. Those most famous vocal cries really finish it off in style, and ensure that dance floors will go wild whenever it is dropped, as do wonky synths and big piano chords at the breakdown.
The second version is more emotive, with big sweeping strings smeared in the background to help make it all the more dramatic, teary eyed and impactful on the floor. This one is for the peak time in any set and is sure to make the most memorable moment of any night.
Both remixes here pack a real punch, and whilst remaining true to the original, they both sound just like you would expect from modern dance heavyweight Loco Dice.

Now Desolat boss Loco Dice is releasing an exclusive boxset of the album on vinyl, including a host of new remixes and limited edition items.
The reason this project is happening is because Desolat is a label that still prizes the physical format and inherent value of vinyl. As such, the whole thing, entitled the Underground Sound Suicide Box, is to be pressed to vinyl for a full physical release that will allow the exquisite sound design and rich detail to really shine.
The fine original cuts are being pressed across four 12" records, and on top of that, four separate remix EPs will also be included featuring classy reworks of the material by established names from the worlds of house and techno including Nightmares On Wax, Henrik Schwarz, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Kerri Chandler, Martin Buttrich, Robert Hood and Timo Maas among others.
On top of this, there is a custom made diamond shape metal USB stick containing all the material and bonus tracks along with four music videos to 'Get comfy', 'Keep it Low', 'Party Angels' and 'Sending This One Out'. The set also ships with a custom designed slipmat. All in all this exclusive material is packed in a handmade box and is available only as the DESOLAT USS BOX.

Loco Dice's Desolat kicks off 2016 with a brilliant new EP from Romanian trio Premiesku aka long term friends Livio, Roby and George G. They have close associations with the label and have done for years, and after their great debut album Indirect in 2012, are now a very real force in the dance world.
The trio is also famed for its live show, which is performed using specially made consoles and has seen them headline all over Europe from Timewarp to Watergate to Rex in Paris. With releases on labels like 2020Vision and Vakant, this really is a fantastic outfit that once again comes up trumps here.
Opener "Altitude" is seven minutes or irresistible electronic funk. Jostling drums and odd synth sounds dance next to each other and you will too. Machines get loose and spit out soulful sounds and odd hooks and the whole thing keeps you locked for the duration. "Bucur" is a more peak time techno cut with forceful kicks driving it along, occult little alien sounds and snatched vocal parts that are fluid and free flowing and will really get under the skin of any dancefloor in expert fashion.
"Neo" then finds the Romanians going for a more minimal aesthetic with slick rubbery drums making a punchy pattern down below as heavenly female vocals up top add a key human element. Some spiritual melodies also explode above the groove and ensure that minds will be well and truly blown when this one is dropped. Lastly, the excellent "Permut" is a dubby roller with a fat and heavy bottom end that is impossible to ignore. It has some classic techno synths lighting it up and is the sort of hypnotic affair that will really stand out in the coming months.
With this essential new EP Premiesku continue to go from strength to strength.

"Taped Chrome" was written and recorded in one session, was recorded straight to tape and is an angst ridden, edgy peak time cut with coarse claps, loud, alarm-like synths and grumbling bass that will rattle the walls of any club. The perfectly dark and consuming "Till Melted" has pinging rubber kicks swaying beneath all sorts of withering and whirring synth lines and is a perfect freak out tune. Full of mischief and intensity with lots of subtle effects all adding to the tension, it is one that will get fists pumping in any set. Finally, "F What You Heard" is a deeper house cut with a synth line that rises and falls in loudness, sucking you in as it goes whilst blocky drums stomp out a thick groove. This is effective, solid dancing music that is also hugely fun from the Russian star.

They make raw, emotive underground sounds and Martin recently turned out a well received full length album on Ornaments that explored far and wide. "Take Away" was written in summer 2014 with vocalist Black Soda from South Africa. The track is made from various hardware synth, and is filled with feeling. It is built on a bed of pinging drums and coarse claps, but the heaviness lifts with the arrival of Black Soda's breezy, spoken word vocals and some colourful xylophone like melodies. Vidal and Pablo Bolivar have cemented the Pulshar name and reputation as proponents of dub-heavy, soulful and at times psychedelic electronic music. Vinyl version of 'Blood and Mathematics' features the originals and instrumentals via download code, and is perfectly timed for when the days begin to draw to a close. Barcelona based duo Sergio S. Vidal and Pablo Bolivar have cemented the Pulshar name and reputation as proponents of dub-heavy, soulful and at times psychedelic electronic music. Their first Desolat long player 'Inside' received critical acclaim and effortlessly bridged the gap between the dance-floor and the home listening environment. They returned to Desolat in 2013 with a deliciously deep and trippy EP in 'Different Drum', and now continue their relationship with the label with 'Blood and Mathematics'. Pulshar continue their affair with Electro, Instrumental Hip-Hop, Dub and Psychedelia. They have distilled this to create a distinctive and soulful brand of electronic music and the new Long Player represents where the artists are in 2014. All the tracks are written and produced by them, with only Guti as a featuring artist on 'Running Away'. This has resulted in them cultivating a traditional 'album' experience where one track effortlessly segues into the next and takes the listener through a range of emotions across the record. Blood and Mathematics is a contemporary electronic music listening experience that will be revisited again and again.
