Its been almost a year since our Robsoul brother Chris Carrier unveiled new music on the label. After recent remix and release forays on Hot Creations, Cuttin’ Headz and his own Adult Only imprint, Mr Consistent is back with a trio of hot new jams. With its familiar screams and bumping bassline, title track ‘Plastic Dance’ sets the trend as its tickled ivories and snatched snares create a dancefloor commotion. ‘Hoverbike,' with its future facing title, actually presents crisp classic sounds wrapped in a haze of floating filters. A track that will draw even the most reluctant groovers to the dancefloor. For those still holding out, Chris also drops a bass-heavy Dub version to give them an extra nudge.

The always trustworthy Sound Carrier label steps back into the limelight to hit us with another fix of quality techno from monsieur Chris Carrier. The Parisian producer never stops making music, and he presents three new extra terrestrial cuts here on this latest instalment from his excellent label. The story here is about two powerful intergalactic beings who discover that they have been lied to by their leaders - there are no magic mushrooms, just a forest of poisoned ones. They have laid down their arms to discuss this despicable turn of events… Track one is a rolling slice of analogue techno with acid licks and squelches bubbling away at its core. Named ‘Cat’s Eye Nebula’ it sucks us in to an interplanetary vortex, with cosmic FX transporting to the interior of a spaceship, while the beats give the feeling of a bumpy ride into the cosmos. This is followed by the more composed solemnity of ‘Galactus’. Shuffling beats slide over a funky bassline, the outer space theme continues with Carrier implementing a series of manipulated sounds which convey the feeling of futuristic machinery, blinking dashboards or robots communicating with one another.
Finally, we have ‘Dark Poison’, the inspiration behind the whole EP. More deep 303 vibes on this with a simmering analogue riff, percussion which increases in intensity alongside several layers of melodramatic effects, high-pitched twinkles and chimes which really add to the tension

Last seen on Robsoul Jazz back in April with his wonderfully unique and creative long-player ‘Green Age’, our longest and dearest collaborator Mr Chris Carrier is back to close out 2016 with a fresh selection of straight up house gems. First choice is the sweat inducing Philly flava of ‘Fever Tree’. Showering us in ’70’s glitter with its timeless vocal and low-slung bass. Following and flexing its funk is ‘To The Wonder’ with its filtered strings and vocal, garnished with piercing beams of sound and fx. On the flip Chris opens with the warping piano, sultry sax and skittish snare work of the aptly titled ‘Feel Good Tonight’, before dropping some warehouse chops with the weighty bass growl of ‘Inside’, closing yet another essential Carrier crop for your record box.

The last Sound Carrier was based around the notion of intrepid intergalactic explorers trying to get to earth, this time we’re taken 10,000 leagues below the surface to trawl the deep sea. All the way down there, we experience increased pressure, sub-zero temperatures, darkness and previously undiscovered new worlds. Up first we have ‘Lactarius Indigo Mission’, which has a distinct urgency and ‘in-your-face’ bitch slap percussion. The bassline writhes under a variety of squelchy, bleepy effects, which add a layer of depth and the whole thing feels quite ‘electro’. After that ‘From The Space To The Sea’ continues the electro vibes with more punchy beats, a rugged b-line and heavyweight kicks. Carrier’s use of quirky details give this track a unique character and contagious energy. On the other side we’re treated to another strange Carrier creation, the laidback ‘Kepler 22b’. Named after the first known planet to orbit a sun within what’s known as a ‘habitable zone’, Kepler 22b could well support life. The track is serene and full of optimism, a fitting soundtrack for a distant Earth-like planet. Minimal workout ‘Diver Level 1000’ closes the EP with its unusual arrangement and simple yet deadly programming. Another addition to the impressive Sound Carrier catalogue and perhaps its most leftfield so far…

Chris Carrier delivers a box of steaming fresh hot techno jams with the latest release from his trusty Adult Only sub-label, Sound Carrier. Over the last five years he has dropped five EPs on the label, with this marking Sound Carrier’s sixth outing. As usual, the sounds here are a little more entrenched in the techno sound ethic. ‘Cosmic Road’ is the first of four that take us on a journey out into space, the final frontier… As the name suggests, we’re propelled up into the stars, encouraged to let go of our Earth-bound outlook and travel far away beyond Saturn’s rings. Smooth pads form a cosmic choir with bright flecks of synth, dancing around a jaunty bassline. Amazing. ‘Space Nation’ then strips things back, coming through with that minimal vibe. The rhythm is steppy, chugging along with mysterious intent. On the other side we take ‘Refuge On Earth’ with a 303-led trip back to our home planet. Here we are comforted by the familiar sound of that Roland machine, while the percussion slaps and claps away like the firecracker sound of a machine gun. Last up, ‘Holidays On Mars’ drifts in with an bright, optimistic feeling permeating throughout. See you at Orion’s Belt for a boogie!...

Its been just over a year since we brought you the fantastic ‘Inner Activist’ ep from our brother Chris. Crazy right? The fact that all three tracks became mainstays for many over the past twelve months is testament, yet again, to the talent of Mr. Carrier. We never leave home without him. Magic Gallery sees Chris displaying yet more his own musical sorcery. Opening with the soulful tones of Fantasy Faces we’re soon thrust into the serious drum workout of Stories. The choppy beats and sliced samples of Warlock follow before the EP is closed, in the finest fashion, by the spellbinding title track itself. Another strong and essential collection of house tools from Chris Carrier.

Incoming! Adult Only 46 is here and it’s another biggie. Chris Carrier’s trusty label always delivers the funk and this release is no exception. Featuring Rhythm&Soul plus Russian newcomers Belogurov and Orbit and the bossman Carrier himself, it’s comprised four tracks, all with their own unique groove and atmosphere – perfect for anyone who loves deep rhythmic house music with hypnotic sensibilities. Rhythm&Soul takes one side of the record, the first of his tracks ‘Take Off’ comes in with sturdy beats pushes things along at a steady pace. His use of ‘live’ sounding percussion is evident throughout, working perfectly alongside a captivating double bass keeping things moving. If you manage to stay still while this is playing then there’s something wrong with you, utterly irresistible. The second track from the Madrid-based producer is another upbeat joint. The deep bassline bounces up and down while razor sharp hats slice and dice their way through the lower end. As with most of Rhythm&Soul’s work, there are lots of nuances and details peppering the track, keeping it interesting from start to finish. On the flip side we have the Russian boys Belogurov and Orbit, who deliver eight minutes of pleasure with ‘Jysk’. Smooth cosmic grooves rise up off this steaming hot, sensual cut. A naughty allure emanates from this track as it moves forward, subtle pads swirling in the background to suck you in and keep you locked to the groove. And to round things off, Chris Carrier delivers a typically eccentric roll out. Subtle beats are placed over an analogue low end together with a selection of strange sounds direct from Carrier’s well-equipped lab. Variations in the rhythm and texture keep this one interesting all the way until the end.And there it is, another hot one from the Adult Only camp… strictly for over 18s!

A mesh of wires pump electrified impulses through a selection of analogue machines, creating a symphony of beats, rhythms and basslines. Minimal frequencies combines with bright synth lines and sombre melodies… Chris Carrier’s studio is alive with fresh sounds conceived for his new album, which is produced under his Monsieur Georget alias. It’s the name that has been utilised for a series of scintillating live performances and, under this moniker, he now brings us a very personal long-player that reveals another side to one of the most prolific producers in Paris. Across eight tracks Monsieur Georget explores his playful side, employing his collection of vintage and contemporary gear to create something timeless and inspired. Fatherhood adds a personal touch to the album, as his daughter not only provides inspiration for the music but also contributes to the album via her own musical instruments, which Monsieur Georget uses in tandem with his own equipment. His penchant for cycling and a deep love for his own city also permeate into this extended body of work, resulting in a collection of tracks that offer a sincere insight into the man behind the music. It’s funky, rolling and utterly fresh with touches of jazz, soul and a clear nod to the traditions of house music, with a modern, French, touch. Spark up a fat one and meditate to the absorbing sub bass of ‘Conique Tribute’, the deep, grooving opener, which has echoes of the Caribbean reverberating through it. ‘Tom Tom’ follows up with a punchy, though minimal flow guaranteed to get your head nodding and hips swinging. ‘Droit Au But’ is aimed at the dance floor, underpinned by dynamic percussion and a large dose of funk – football and traditional French pastime Pétanque (boules) are the inspiration behind this killer track. The legendary Curtis Mayfield is the driving force behind the louche, reclining viber ‘L’ami Curtis’, which drifts along with a spritely warped string arrangement at its heart. ‘Nuit Sans Filet’ works around Monsieur Georget’s unique use of stripped down classic house shimmers and a bulbous b-line. ‘Jazzavue’ is a heads-down take on the genre with a rumbling bassline, hushed vocals and cleverly-programmed percussion. ‘L’homme De La Cave’ pokes fun at Carrier’s 20 years + in the studio, his cave, where he beats his drum and entrances the listener with his lush grooves. The track’s tribal rhythm illustrates this perfectly. Finally, ‘Dong’ closes out the LP with deliciously twisted analogue bells, delving into his fascination with the instrument. Rich, diverse and full of youthful tones, Monsieur Georget’s album is the work of a producer whose love for electronic music clearly runs as deep as you can imagine. Essential!

julian alexander - Point of view - Chris Carrier Remix
Chris Carrier’s brings us the latest installment from his ever-trusty Adult Only label, with a firecracker from Julian Alexander, a rudeboy from Holland, Utrecht to be precise. Julian’s close ties with Slapfunk Records, the label that released Carrier’s most recent artist album, make him the perfect candidate to captain this new release, which is full of murky grooves and simmering energy. Across three tracks Julian brings encapsulates that Adult Only flavour, kicking off with ‘Butress Roots’ a bass-heavy roller with an eerie overtone and a minimal make-up – watch out for the extended breakdown, it will send shivers down your spine. Up after that we have ‘XY’ a more up-tempo, bouncing, dance floor destroyer. Major vibes on this one. On the flip ‘Point Of View’ brings the energy down again, with a steady flow, and a slow-building pads together with an indecipherable female vocal clip that adds to the captivating atmosphere. Carrier steps in to remix ‘Point Of View, closing out the EP with a punchy demonstration of his production prowess. Raw.

dan ghenacia & chris carrier - "The 2nd Degree"
Two Paris legends reunite for the latest outing on the always fresh Adult Only label. Owner Chris Carrier links up with his old pal Dan Ghenacia for this three-track EP, which includes a remix from German talent, Diego Krause. Chris and Dan last got together for Adult Only back in 2007, with their ‘Tumble Blur’ EP and they recently hit the studio together again to roll out two super dope slices of heads-down dance floor funk. As you might expect from two highly experienced veterans, the tracks on offer are both crisp, epitomising that classic house flow with a sprinkling of contemporary flavour. The 2nd degree bounces, whirrs and chirps all over the place while the 4x4 beat keeps the energy levels high. Just a Sin is a more serious cut, with a solemn presence and stuttered beats together with a hushed vocals giving it a mysterious feel. Unison Wax bossman Diego Krause powers up Just a Sin With his remix, putting a firm emphasis on the bassline, which is strong, murky and unrelenting. A deep, dark slice of groovy house for the after-hours crew

Continuing to push that deep, raw house sound Chris Carrier’s Adult Only label presents a brand new EP from Slapfunk affiliate and all round funkateer, Larry De Kat. Larry keeps the grooves rolling in his native Holland, where he has close ties with the much respected Slapfunk Records, along with good friend Anil Aras. His back catalogue includes another French connection, with the young masters at Lazare Hoche Records. This time he links up with prolific producer Chris Carrier to give Adult Only a taste of his funky medicine. On side A we have ‘Diks On Gruds’, a gruff dance floor banger with a deadly bassline and ultra crisp hats, which inject a solid energy from start to finish. On the flip another French hero, Phil Weeks, add his stomping Chicago flavour into the mix reworking the track with panache. A2 is ‘Noodlez’, a quirky joint composed of odd sounds wriggling and whirring above a slinky bassline counterposed with choppy percussion. Finally, the EP closes out with ‘Um?’, a sombre affair which pumps and purrs with minimal composition – subtle effects in the arrangement bounce around the beats, while a mysterious voice creeps in and out of the background. Sublime…

For the 40th release on underground-favourite Adult Only, Einzelkind steps up with the goods and delivers a wonky-tech package of infectiously good cuts. Bouncey and full of kick is Einzelkind’s orginial version of Trouble. A wobbling bassline marches under a low male vocal and progressing stages of techno effects, bleeps and warbles, guaranteed to have the dance floor swaying with ease. Sascha Dive’s interpretation takes a deeper twist, with eerie echoes creating a hypnotic ambience that will keep you hooked well in the darker stages of the afterhours. Over on B2, Major Brain Malfunction is a spacey trip through futuristic effects. An almost hip hop vocal will have you nodding along before breaking into a pop-parody that ends the EP on a typically Einzelkind playful note. Adult Only, the imprint from prolific Parisian producer Chris Carrier has been consistently putting out some of the highest quality house and techno since 2000. Rising up to take his place as king of the underground, DJ W!LD, one of the key residents at Circo Loco, delivers a killer EP for Adult Only that's bursting with raw layers of funk and pure jacking beats and perfectly captures the infectious sound he is renowned for. Title track 'Lost on 14th' evolves from the raw bass beat through chugging percussive grooves and the clipped funk guitar riff. Enter the provocative rhetoric of Kris B, with old school house organ, and the ghetto, freaky vibe is complete. Jamie Jones brings his hot future funk to the b-side remix of 'Lost on 14th' by wrapping the manipulated 'Nasty Girl' vocal around the central moody bassline whilst lending his signature oscillating synths and upping the sex appeal. Launching into a wail of sirens, it's clear that 'Born To Be Black' is about to get rowdy. A true club weapon, its all-encompassing bass and kick drum and firey female voice is enough to wreak havoc on any dancefloor. Gauthier DM goes straight for the jugular with his stomping, techno rework of 'Lost on 14th'. Injecting a good dose of wonked out, booming bass, it's one for the tougher rave heads. Guillaume Duchastel de Montrouge, aka DJ W!LD, is part of the infamous Cocoon agency and the newest resident at Circo Loco in DC10, joining last year alongside names such as Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones. The past 2 years have marked a swift comeback for W!LD, a longtime producer and International DJ that made his mark for being elusive, unpredictable, and truly underground. Heavily involved in hip-hop and graffiti trends and street culture, his DJ W!LD alias is wink to the cult motion picture "Wild style", a portrait of graffiti pioneers to an authentic soundtrack of late 70's hip hop New Yorkers. Born in 1975, his journey into music started in the 80's in French town Dijon, where he was immersed in a world of funk, disco, and groovy beats. In the early 90's, Laurent Garnier appeared on the Dijon scene with his residency at L'Enfer and initiated the first steps of a new rave culture in the hexagon. Deeply touched by this revolution and the music of the godfathers of Detroit techno and Chicago house, W!LD discovered his future musical route. Relocating to Paris in 1996, W!LD was soon playing in the best nightspots; the Palace; the Queen; the Rex and invited to the famous New York club Twilo. After a brief stint living in Brazil, W!ld became one of the leading DJs in the underground gay scene in Europe, providing soundtracks for fashion shows for Thierry Mugler, Christian Lacroix, and Vivienne Westwood. In 2005, Catwash was created, a unique production partnership between W!ld and Chris Carrier and also his first record label. This year he launched a new record label, W, a place for him and his friends to reflect on experiences and musical influences. On this his debut album 'Palace' will appear with remixes scheduled from DJ Sneak, Kerri Chandler, Chris Carrier, Hector Morales, Phil Weeks, Chez Damiezand SIS. Whetting the appetite of his developing fan base ahead of his album out in June, another spiritual home to the French underground brigade, Adult Only, welcomes DJ W!LD to the family. With the artist this on top of his game, W!LD will be a name upon many more more lips before long.
