In "The Kiss" and "Need", BPitch Control boss Ellen Allien has produced two precisely stripped-down driving house tracks that have been crying out for suitable remixes for some time – and here they are: the Miami-based DJ/Producer Jesse Perez has reworked "The Kiss", bestowing the straight-up beat with a healthy dose of Caribbean flair. The Germany-based Snuff Crew takes a noticeably less extrovert approach, but their credits speak for themselves: two albums on Gigolo, plus releases on Killekill and their own label Snuff Trax, founded in 2010. They have appeared as remixers for artists including Alex Vazquez and BPC's own Dance Disorder. Redshape's musical affinity with the best of Detroit techno is exhibited on his two superb albums on the Frankfurt label Running Back as well as his numerous tracks on Music Man, Delsin and Styrax Leaves. Yet his identity remained the subject of speculation for a long time. These days we can say with at least some certainty that Redshape is officially known as Sebastian Kramer and resides in Berlin. He sets the playful "Need" original on its way very gradually and carefully before bringing frenzied tribal drums into play and transforming the track into a kind of 'evil twin' of the original. More
