OVERVIEW: Welcome to the Mirrorball Motel - the shimmering nocturnal world of Future Disco from the NeedWant label. The Mirrorball Motel is a place that transports you to another place, a party you don't want to end and when it does, you'll feel it was all a dream. It’s where the magic happens, an evening without inhibitions, where you dance without thinking. Musically it's a mix of all forms of disco and house as represented here.

This bumper collection features five exclusive new tunes. Daisybelle & Tasty Lopez's 'Starlight' (Future Disco Ballroom Dub) has a classic disco feel from the two first ladies of the green. Italoconnection - 'All Over' (Future Disco Edit) brings an eighties vibe that reminds of Ibiza venue Pikes, whilst the mysterious Clive From Accounts 'You Understand' impresses with its soaring strings and house bassline. The final two exclusives are Charlie Hepworth's 'It's Satisfaction' with its full thrill house drums and acid flashes, and Boys Shorts's 'Suburban Love Affair' (Brian Ring Remix), which sounds like summer on the shores of Los Angeles in 1989.

Elsewhere is the simple but effective future disco of Bondax, a Brazilian via French disco cut from PPJ, and exciting and intricate grooves from the trio of Breakbot, Irfane & Yuksek. There is euphoric 90s house from Saison, challenging yet reassuring vocal work from the legendary Roisin Murphy as remixed to perfection by the wizard that is The Reflex and much more besides. More

House and techno purveyor Ejeca delivers with a high-octane release, ‘Keep Climbing EP’ on Needwant Records, which celebrates 100 releases. The four-tracker is available on a limited run of vinyl. From its inception, Needwant has focussed on pioneering the sounds of tomorrow, developing exciting artists in the world of crossover dance and electronic music including lau.ra, Kiwi, and Ejeca, who first released on the label in 2013. The title track kicks off the EP with serious force; heavy kicks and a glitchy melody loops hypnotically before making way for the track’s commanding vocal which is equally entrancing. Like its title, ‘Keep Climbing’ builds and builds, generating full-throttle energy that is finally erupted after a euphoric piano breakdown. ‘Vader’ reduces the pace and deepens the mood with a deep humming bassline, twinkling chords, and eerie strings. A breakdown follows with Ejaca’s signature ravey piano-lines in combination with hooky top-line vocals that seamlessly takes the track into peak-time party territory. The track is dynamic, enthralling, and highlights the depth to Ejeca’s production. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is colourfully uplifting from the offset with bright piano and arpeggiating pads shimmering in tandem. The vocal is contagiously catchy, topping the instrumentation with positive energy which is present throughout the track’s duration. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is a peak-time club big-hitter. Rounding off the EP is ‘Zyfer’ which boasts uncompromisingly chunky kicks and raw industrial echoes, before cleverly switching to a contrasting sonic soundscape in true Ejeca style. 8-bit arpeggiating chords bubble before warping into a driving club melody which dances on top of the heavy-hitting kicks and groovy percussion. The infamous Kiwi returns to Needwant with his second EP on the London label (home to the likes of The Revenge, Ejeca, Maxxi Soundsystem and many more) On this cut Kiwi does what he does best by incorporating emotion and grit into dance music. The EP features 3 mixes of ‘Kiya’ as well as a remix from underground hero Brian Ring. The record has already seen support form the likes of Theo Kottis, AME, Tensnake, catz n dogz, Nick Warren & Fort Romeau to name a few. The record opens with the original version of ‘Kiya' which features warm bass tones, spaced out synth lines, shuffling percussion and a tribal-esq vocal. The Rave mix gives ‘Kiya’ dance floor authority, introducing driving acid synth lines and a weightier low end. On the B side Kiwi delivers a deconstructed ‘Dreamscape’ mix stripping ‘Kiya' back to it’s beautiful bare bones. ‘Kiya’ will be another addition to Kiwi’s already impressive physical discography which includes releases on imprints such as Disco Halal, Future Boogie & 17 Steps. His unique approach to remixing and producing over the years has meant that he has seen a wealth of support from names such as Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Annie Mac and Skream. Needwant welcome Bristol born, Berlin based Geoff Wright aka Kemback (Omena/Futureboogie) to the label. By day, Kemback teaches music production classes to students in Berlin, with such a musical background behind him, his latest EP Moving Through Clouds is every bit exquisite as you’d think. Opening with the luscious ‘I Need You’, hi-hat, bongos and sumptuous strings are just some of the elements that blend together seamlessly, a touch of modern jazz-house. The experimental combinations continue on ‘Stepping Back’, a heavy breaks track coupled with harps and saxophones. Whilst the hazy pads of ‘Moving Through Clouds’ goes down a more atmospheric route. The EP includes remixes from Soulphiction and Kim Brown (Needwant). Over the past ten years the Needwant mantra has been to push the very best in new talent, hav-ing provided the platform for the likes of Kiwi, The Mekanism, Maxxi Soundsystem, The Revenge and many more. Needwant welcome Berlin duo Kim Brown back into the fold with the stellar ‘Pleasuredome Continuum’’. Comprised of two dynamic breakbeat cuts to sink into and some incredible remixes from Earth Boys (Let’s Play House) and Kemback (Omena/Futureboogie). ‘Helical Scan’ comes straight from the Berlin 5am scene with raw breakbeat production and huge hitting pads and rolling synths. Whilst the uniquely titled ‘Ceramic Unicorns’ is anything but fluffy and cuddly. The pulsating hi-hat, lofi percussion and cosmic chords take you to another level. Johannes Albert is a producer as diverse as they come. Comfortable across all sub genres of dance music from deep house to italo disco, in Italy they call him Giovanni Alberto. He’s been praised by the likes BICEP, Gerd Janson, Lauer and the Keinemusik crew, and he’s only just getting started. The Dancing Plague EP is summer music for summer people. Opening with the hefty, wonky basslines of the club ready; TPTS. Gravy Train is a combination of grooving bass-lines and disco drums, the end result is a solid dancefloor stomper. The uniquely titled Pachanga follows, abundant with nu disco and italo references. This is a real summer track, as the sun sets in the city ahead of a huge party, the one that will entice the shyest of dancers to move. Keeping with the off the cuff track names, the EP finishes with the dusty, sun tinged Rainbow Pan.

Ashworth's Grain LP captured the imagination of many in the music world on it's release last year. After releasing two original EP's from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. What better way to wrap up his debut with Needwant. The EP serves up three very different remixes all for a different occasion and mood. The ever reliable Dorisbourg, who remains one half of the lauded Genius of Time, takes a laidback Electronica approach but with Techno at it's heart. Newcomer Kris Davis and Yost keep the original feel of Cork but provide a sensual but progressive vibe.
While Simon Haydo drives all the way to the end with his remix of Fireworks. Great production on show across the EP for the emerging producer Ashworth. More

The sampler features brand new mixes from Nicholas’, with his take on Kim Ann Foxman’s ‘Hyopnotic Dance’, as well as a Uluru’s reversion of Maxi Soundsystem’s ‘Make or Break’, all seemingly fording a new groove to these already formidable house records. Mark E makes his own retake on ‘We Could Love’ with a Sadness Of Yesterday mix and The Revenge unearths fresh depths with his take on James Fox’s cut, ‘Holding On’. Northern Irishman Ejeca makes his second appearance on London based Needwant after his highly successful 'Horizon EP'. Title track 'Together' showcases the talented producer's style when it comes to combining a new twist on 90s garage with a 4/4 beat. The tracks huge euphoric breakdown cleverly reference the past whilst still keeping the future in mind, a signature sound that Ejeca has become so well known for over the past twelve months. House maestro Terrence Parker makes his first appearance on Needwant with his flawless 'Motor City Soul Mix' of 'Together' adding deep, warm chords for an elevating affair. A major highlight in his recent DJ sets, Ejeca has included a special 'Night Edit' of the mighty 'Horizon' for the flip side of this release with the second original track 'Forest' taking things deeper to round off this killer package. Needwant welcome back family member Mario Basanov with his ‘Bill EP’ to delve into the harder and darker side of his production skills with three bombs guaranteed to destroy any dance floor. The Lithuanian based producer Mario Basanov released his first solo album ‘Journey’ on Needwant at the end of 2012, which showcased his undeniable talents as a producer and garnered huge international support. Now he follows that long player with a switch in tempos and heads straight to floor with the three track Bill EP. Headline track ‘Bill’ is full of brooding energy and sure to be inspiring open air parties across the summer. ‘Tor’ heads in a more electronic direction with a barrage of enchanting synths, while ‘Give Me Back’ is a relentless slice of electronic Italo inspired House that completes an epic EP. Mario has more recently released on the mighty Innervisions with his dark and mysterious track ‘Red Line’ as part of the ‘Secret Weapons EP Part 5’ as well as penning an upcoming release on Mood Music. Having recently relocated to London, Urulu & Chaos in the CBD join forces for Needwant’s next stellar release. Sharing the same musical passion and vision, yet each holding distinct style and influences, they were able to come together and deliver something really special. A combination of four deep, diverse cuts where old school meets the new school. Rising star Taylor Freels aka Urulu flies solo for the first track on the A-side, giving us a solid dose of 90s inspired house. Grabbing you from the first beat ‘Never Again’ is awash with deep chords, ethereal pads and smooth vocals. The first team effort comes with ‘Mind The Gap’, the perfect slice of garage style house, beautifully deep and rolling with a skipping beat, offering plenty of drive for the dance floor. Needwant is proud to present a truly unique package of ‘Interpretations’ featuring the Chicago legend Robert Owen’s brand new ‘One Body’ vocal as individually sound tracked by four of house music’s most exciting producers and Needwant friends and family, Kaine, Mario Basanov, Nicholas and No Regular Play. Robert Owens is widely regarded as a bona-fide originator from the 80’s golden era of Chicago house. Revered for his creations with Larry Heard as Fingers Inc. and responsible for club classics including ‘Ordinary People’ and ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’ (recently remastered and remixed for 1Trax), these days Owens continues to explore new terrain with diverse output and collaborations with the likes of Photek and Coldcut. It is Owens’ velvet, deep, soulful voice that has been a constant thread throughout the history of dance music. Nicholas is the humble Italian disco producer who was last seen on Needwant dropping a stunning remix for Mario Basanov’s ‘Up’ release. His ‘One Body Interpretation’ is a classic house workout with crisp kicks and pulsing synths and bass and the result is a track that could easily be mistaken for an old school 90’s house record. No Regular Play are the unstoppable musical minds of Greg Paulus and Nick De Bryn from the Wolf + Lamb camp and their ‘Interpretation’ moves the body on a deeper level with chugging slo-mo house grooves, syncopated beats and a mid-point transition that melts with deep chords and muted jazz.
