Kiwi - Kiya (Dreamscape Mix)
The infamous Kiwi returns to Needwant with his second EP on the London label (home to the likes of The Revenge, Ejeca, Maxxi Soundsystem and many more) On this cut Kiwi does what he does best by incorporating emotion and grit into dance music. The EP features 3 mixes of ‘Kiya’ as well as a remix from underground hero Brian Ring. The record has already seen support form the likes of Theo Kottis, AME, Tensnake, catz n dogz, Nick Warren & Fort Romeau to name a few. The record opens with the original version of ‘Kiya' which features warm bass tones, spaced out synth lines, shuffling percussion and a tribal-esq vocal. The Rave mix gives ‘Kiya’ dance floor authority, introducing driving acid synth lines and a weightier low end. On the B side Kiwi delivers a deconstructed ‘Dreamscape’ mix stripping ‘Kiya' back to it’s beautiful bare bones. ‘Kiya’ will be another addition to Kiwi’s already impressive physical discography which includes releases on imprints such as Disco Halal, Future Boogie & 17 Steps. His unique approach to remixing and producing over the years has meant that he has seen a wealth of support from names such as Andrew Weatherall, DJ Harvey, Gerd Janson, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Optimo, Annie Mac and Skream.

Cormac is launching a new record label called Polari, through which he will curate and share music from artists that he champions in his much-revered DJ sets.
The name "Polari" references the slang used by the gay subculture in the 19th century.
The inaugural release is from London based Kiwi - a producer, label owner and promoter very much on the rise.
Having previously released on revered imprints such as Optimo, Future Boogie, Needwant, 17 Steps and his own Crossbreed, Kiwi has already established himself a producer with idiosyncratic studio nous, and a natural flair for delivering records that bind and enthral dancers of all persuasions.
Crossbreed is also a London based event series that "encourages freedom of expression and hedonism", and aims to "break down social constructs and stigmas". It is here that Cormac and Kiwi reconnected earlier this year, and sowed the seeds for this first release.
Cormac has also opted to showcase different LGBTQI+ visual artists' work for the sleeve art.
Artwork on this release is from SHREK 666; an Artist, Performer, Maker & DJ also known as Sorcha Clelland. Creator of Ministry of Pound, a Glasgow based Fetish Party & Mag and resident performer at Scotland's most loved Queer party Shoot Your Shot. Combining monstrosity, trans*ness & hypersexuality through the embodiment of an ogre creating new queer worlds.

Kiwi - Acqua Panna
The summer is hot and the stages remain empty but the fans have spoken and we refuse to stop the beat here at Kompakt! London’s own Kiwi joins us with “Hello Echo” to fill your boombox park hangs with 3 epic blends of disco, house and everything in-between. To those unfamiliar with Kiwi here’s a quick intro. He’s the mind behind Crossbreed, the talked-about label and party series coming out of London. His early music endeavors saw him release on coveted labels like Disco Halal, Days Of Being Wild, Deep Shit, Optimo, Mood Black, Correspondent and we cannot forget the massively massive single “Orca” released on Futureboogie in 2017. He’s now ready to share the fruits of his lockdown with this debut for Kompakt. We ring in with the title track ”Hello Echo” featuring Bestley on vocals. Simply put, THIS is that disco-fied feel good single that is as essential as every hot day requires a cold drink in hand. Sexy and bold, “Down with the Rhythm” an immaculate bass line and a vocal that would make Dave Gahan proud. “Acqua Panna” is a favourite for us here. A crazed breakbeat mingles with a lost piano and synth that seems to jam on nowhere but somewhere that we find is very dear to the dance floor.

Kiwi - Ghiaccio
Back with his third EP for Dave Harvey’s forward thinking Futureboogie label, Kiwi serves up three pulsating jams on ‘Charlie’s New Vision’, backed with a remix from Johnny Aux. Drawing upon his many influences across the house/disco/funk spectrum, South London based Kiwi has been illuminating the more discerning dancefloors of late with a strong of releases for Cin Cin, Needwant and his own new label venture, Crossbreed. A low-slung groove is explored on ‘Charlie’s New Vision’, incorporating tripped out film dialogue, bleeps and dubby tones, and a serpentine bass riff, all forging an off kilter yet infectious & hedonistic chugger. Johnny Aux follows up recent appearances on Man Power’s Me Me Me, Party Central, and Multi Culti with his own take on the lead track. Churning over a bleepy and epically transcendental remix of the highest order, this is the stuff of sunrises and enlightening moments! The sprightly ‘Ghiaccio’ draws together a kaleidoscopic array of opulent synth melodies with an compelling rhythm, whilst ‘Italian Heat’ doffs its cap heartily to the Italo disco choons of yore that always strikes a potent chord to this day.

kiwi - Oooh (Hammer Remix)
Kiwi's sound is one defined by positive, kinetic feeling - joining the dots between Detroit Techno, Soul and Balearic. With previous releases on Futureboogie, Life and Death and Moscoman's lauded Disco Halal imprint, he's garnered several accolades including reaching number #85 in Mixmag's Top 100 tunes of 2017 and sitting at #1 in the genre chart for a total of 9 weeks with his 'Orca' EP back in 2016. Now - continuing on his ascent, Kiwi lays out a pair of rapturous, gooey House jams that lands right on time for the festival season. On 'Oooh' - Vocal lines swirl over a largely beatless backing track. A rich, balmy feeling unfolds behind synth chimes and layered delays which work together to form an irresistible summer DJ tool. 'Andromeda' then follows up and blends 80's soundtrack-tinged stabs with crispy drums and thick sub bass before being accompanied by a pulsating synth line that carries the track to a delectable crescendo. Hammer then closes things up with a somewhat hallucinogenic take on 'Oooh' with LFOs, analogue sweeps and blobs of acid bleeding together to cap off an altogether warm and woozy trip.

Kiwi AKA Alex Warren, returns to Futureboogie after 2016’s well received “Orca” EP (which picked up support from the likes of DJ Harvey, PBR Streetgang, Manpower, Kate Simko & many more) with the cinematically sprawling “Amityville” EP. With all the intensity and menace of the supernatural events immortalised in Rosenberg’s 1979 horror flick, “Amityville” leans on Lalo Schifrin’s classic score and serves up a chugging disco-fied monster. Arpeggiated synths and those memorable vocal refrains from the movie build a mood of anticipation that flourishes into sections of pure wigged out disco business. It’s a very clever and unique production, and one that we served up to DJ Tennis for re-interpretation. Following on from recent remixes for The Juan Maclean and Tricky, as well as a spectacular DJ Kicks mix for !K7, DJ Tennis remoulds “Amityville” into a deep and delicate house groove, introducing some guitar riffing and deft mallet instrumentation whilst manipulating the original components to mesmerizing effect. On “Warriors”, Kiwi continues his unabashed love of cult movies with a musical ode that captures the edgy and urban sounds of 70s cinematic synth soundtracks; phasing guitar riffs, rolling snares and dramatic synth sweeps dominate this infectious track. And closing the release, “Paco” is a melody fuelled and studious production; wandering keys drift over a steady beat and filtering bassline combo whilst the synths pitch bend and flex, resulting in a gloriously trippy ambience throughout.

Following Dusky’s ubiquitous ‘Cold Heart’ EP 17 Steps presents Kiwi’s ‘Marmora’s Theme’ EP - the London producer’s debut on the label.
Having recently released on tastemaker labels such as Futureboogie, Correspondent and Optimo Music, Kiwi’s distinctive sound is a physical mix of Italo disco, techno and electro influences. Carried by a pulsating Italo bassline, lead track ‘Marmora’s Theme’ is a cosmic epic that rides crisp piano melodies and sci-fi synths - and is already garnering support from Gerd Janson, DJ Tennis and Annie Mac. Transporting the original’s piano euphoria into darker, rave referencing territory, the Tuff City Kids remix calls on growling reese bass and ’92 hardcore style pianos.
Offering some alternative vibes are the deeper, dirgy warehouse grind of ‘OTH’ and the beautiful, reflective electronica of ‘Reservoir’.

Boundary pushing EP from Kiwi, regular side kick & friend of Duke Dumont, on Duke's re-launched label Blasé Boys Club... London based Dj, producer and wonderkid Kiwi steps forth as Duke Dumont's Blase Boys Club imprint announces their next club ready EP. Striking out with Animals, the latest BBC cut heralds a new dawn for the imprint that prides itself on unearthing fresh and unique talent. After spending time developing his gut busting live show, Duke Dumont adorns the A&R hat once again as he readies this new EP. Kiwi (AKA Alex Warren) is no stranger to creating sure fire dance-floor tremors; in fact, he's shaping up to be one of the most exciting young producers out there after tracks on Sneaky, Needwant, Kitsune and Deep Shit, with a string of remixes and tracks set for release in the coming months, plus a much anticipated back to back set with Mr Andrew Weatherall, the Animals EP stands as the perfect bridge into Kiwi's forthcoming summer season. With each track named after obscure species of wildlife, it's reflective of Kiwi's own penchant for touching the outer reaches of the floor, pushing the boundaries with unique and honed sonic interpretations. Starting life with wild intent, opening track 'ShortTail' takes on a pulsing, laser galvanised bassline, growling and pushing behind whirling atmospheric sweeps and layers of sub bass before dropping into a strong blend of techno drive and house swing, flanked by cowbell chimes and percussive nuances; make no mistake, this jacking track was aimed squarely at the soldiers on the floor. Next, Kiwi teams up with vocalist Takura for the light, dreamy and airy slow-mo house romp that is 'Fossa'. Takura's light, harmonic but strained vocals add an emotional quality to the ticking groove and slow-swing of the track, much like the cat like mammal that the track shares it's name with. On the flip, 'Atlanticus', going for a slow-mo, electro-boogie fusion, bringing together down tempo groove and slow and low bass, showcasing the London bred producers penchant for all shades of house music with an ethereal, musically charged composition. After this brief respite, it's back to business on 'Pelican', with a balearic feel accentuated by perky and fluctuating basslines, the tempo firing back up through a mesh of oscillating rhythms, compressed snare hits and an unstoppable groove.

OVERVIEW: Welcome to the Mirrorball Motel - the shimmering nocturnal world of Future Disco from the NeedWant label. It's a 19-track exploration of the magical and escapist sounds of artists like Digitalism, Cinthie, Bondax, Reflex, Roosevelt and more. The Mirrorball Motel is a place that transports you to another place, a party you don't want to end and when it does, you'll feel it was all a dream. It’s where the magic happens, an evening without inhibitions, where you dance without thinking. Musically it's a mix of all forms of disco and house as represented here.
This bumper collection features five exclusive new tunes. Daisybelle & Tasty Lopez's 'Starlight' (Future Disco Ballroom Dub) has a classic disco feel from the two first ladies of the green. Italoconnection - 'All Over' (Future Disco Edit) brings an eighties vibe that reminds of Ibiza venue Pikes, whilst the mysterious Clive From Accounts 'You Understand' impresses with its soaring strings and house bassline. The final two exclusives are Charlie Hepworth's 'It's Satisfaction' with its full thrill house drums and acid flashes, and Boys Shorts's 'Suburban Love Affair' (Brian Ring Remix), which sounds like summer on the shores of Los Angeles in 1989.
Elsewhere is the simple but effective future disco of Bondax, a Brazilian via French disco cut from PPJ, and exciting and intricate grooves from the trio of Breakbot, Irfane & Yuksek. There is euphoric 90s house from Saison, challenging yet reassuring vocal work from the legendary Roisin Murphy as remixed to perfection by the wizard that is The Reflex and much more besides. More

Ejeca - Zyfer
House and techno purveyor Ejeca delivers with a high-octane release, ‘Keep Climbing EP’ on Needwant Records, which celebrates 100 releases. The four-tracker is available on a limited run of vinyl. From its inception, Needwant has focussed on pioneering the sounds of tomorrow, developing exciting artists in the world of crossover dance and electronic music including lau.ra, Kiwi, and Ejeca, who first released on the label in 2013. The title track kicks off the EP with serious force; heavy kicks and a glitchy melody loops hypnotically before making way for the track’s commanding vocal which is equally entrancing. Like its title, ‘Keep Climbing’ builds and builds, generating full-throttle energy that is finally erupted after a euphoric piano breakdown. ‘Vader’ reduces the pace and deepens the mood with a deep humming bassline, twinkling chords, and eerie strings. A breakdown follows with Ejaca’s signature ravey piano-lines in combination with hooky top-line vocals that seamlessly takes the track into peak-time party territory. The track is dynamic, enthralling, and highlights the depth to Ejeca’s production. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is colourfully uplifting from the offset with bright piano and arpeggiating pads shimmering in tandem. The vocal is contagiously catchy, topping the instrumentation with positive energy which is present throughout the track’s duration. ‘Won’t Beat Me’ is a peak-time club big-hitter. Rounding off the EP is ‘Zyfer’ which boasts uncompromisingly chunky kicks and raw industrial echoes, before cleverly switching to a contrasting sonic soundscape in true Ejeca style. 8-bit arpeggiating chords bubble before warping into a driving club melody which dances on top of the heavy-hitting kicks and groovy percussion. The EP perfectly captures the ethos of Needwant; forward-thinking music with innovative ideas from an artist who contributed to the label in its early stages. 100 releases on and Needwant continues to push the sounds of tomorrow in slick style.

Needwant welcome Bristol born, Berlin based Geoff Wright aka Kemback (Omena/Futureboogie) to the label. By day, Kemback teaches music production classes to students in Berlin, with such a musical background behind him, his latest EP Moving Through Clouds is every bit exquisite as you’d think. Opening with the luscious ‘I Need You’, hi-hat, bongos and sumptuous strings are just some of the elements that blend together seamlessly, a touch of modern jazz-house. The experimental combinations continue on ‘Stepping Back’, a heavy breaks track coupled with harps and saxophones. Whilst the hazy pads of ‘Moving Through Clouds’ goes down a more atmospheric route. The EP includes remixes from Soulphiction and Kim Brown (Needwant). Over the past ten years the Needwant mantra has been to push the very best in new talent, hav-ing provided the platform for the likes of Kiwi, The Mekanism, Maxxi Soundsystem, The Revenge and many more.

Johannes Albert is a producer as diverse as they come. Comfortable across all sub genres of dance music from deep house to italo disco, in Italy they call him Giovanni Alberto. He’s been praised by the likes BICEP, Gerd Janson, Lauer and the Keinemusik crew, and he’s only just getting started. The Dancing Plague EP is summer music for summer people. Opening with the hefty, wonky basslines of the club ready; TPTS. Gravy Train is a combination of grooving bass-lines and disco drums, the end result is a solid dancefloor stomper. The uniquely titled Pachanga follows, abundant with nu disco and italo references. This is a real summer track, as the sun sets in the city ahead of a huge party, the one that will entice the shyest of dancers to move. Keeping with the off the cuff track names, the EP finishes with the dusty, sun tinged Rainbow Pan.

Ashworth's Grain LP captured the imagination of many in the music world on it's release last year. After releasing two original EP's from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. What better way to wrap up his debut with Needwant. The EP serves up three very different remixes all for a different occasion and mood. The ever reliable Dorisbourg, who remains one half of the lauded Genius of Time, takes a laidback Electronica approach but with Techno at it's heart. Newcomer Kris Davis and Yost keep the original feel of Cork but provide a sensual but progressive vibe.
While Simon Haydo drives all the way to the end with his remix of Fireworks. Great production on show across the EP for the emerging producer Ashworth. More

Needwant is proud to present a truly unique package of ‘Interpretations’ featuring the Chicago legend Robert Owen’s brand new ‘One Body’ vocal as individually sound tracked by four of house music’s most exciting producers and Needwant friends and family, Kaine, Mario Basanov, Nicholas and No Regular Play. Robert Owens is widely regarded as a bona-fide originator from the 80’s golden era of Chicago house. Revered for his creations with Larry Heard as Fingers Inc. and responsible for club classics including ‘Ordinary People’ and ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’ (recently remastered and remixed for 1Trax), these days Owens continues to explore new terrain with diverse output and collaborations with the likes of Photek and Coldcut. It is Owens’ velvet, deep, soulful voice that has been a constant thread throughout the history of dance music. Nicholas is the humble Italian disco producer who was last seen on Needwant dropping a stunning remix for Mario Basanov’s ‘Up’ release. His ‘One Body Interpretation’ is a classic house workout with crisp kicks and pulsing synths and bass and the result is a track that could easily be mistaken for an old school 90’s house record. No Regular Play are the unstoppable musical minds of Greg Paulus and Nick De Bryn from the Wolf + Lamb camp and their ‘Interpretation’ moves the body on a deeper level with chugging slo-mo house grooves, syncopated beats and a mid-point transition that melts with deep chords and muted jazz. Young Lithuanian, Mario Basanov lends his dextrous touch to ‘One Body’ with languid house grooves, clipped beats and evolving patterns of warm keys and harmonies. Kaine is already well known to Needwant fans for his monster hit ‘Love Saves The Day feat. Kathy Diamond’ (due a re-release on Defected this year.) With his ‘Interpretation’ he brings the bass, with rolling percs, club worthy piano stabs and dreamy chords. A flawless union between a veteran and a new generation of artists, ‘One Body’ is a true reflection of the Needwant label’s love for classic sounds and dedication to raising the stars of the future. With such a high calibre of artists in its stable, the label has fast become a beacon of originality and class.
