Renowned Argentinean artist Franco Cinelli returns to Unlock Recordings with three intricate ‘Cuts From The Vault’ this September. One of Argentina’s most respected producers, Franco Cinelli has been making music for over two decades. The Rosario-born artist has made a name for himself with excellent releases on the likes of Djulz’ Bass Culture, Esperanza and Raum...music, not to mention his collaborative project alongside Dario Zenker named Maria Fresca on Ilian Tape. With so many of the upper echelons of house, techno and minimal supporting his tracks, including Ricardo Villalobos himself, Franco Cinelli’s inimitable productions are not to be overlooked. Originally released in 2009 and now finally getting a proper vinyl release, Cinelli’s remix of Saccobros ‘Why Not’ constructs an energetic narrative that extends over ten minutes. Tight kicks work alongside looped atmospherics as a muffled hook and infectious sample add to the heightening suspense. ‘Cuts From The Vault’ also sees two new productions from the Argentinian. ‘Morph Sense’ is the more twisted of the two, demonstrating a medley of clicks and whirrs whilst sci-fi inspired arpeggios operate throughout. As the name suggests, ‘Dub Sine Of The Moon’ is the deepest cut on the package, with its crunchy percussion and subterranean tape delays that form a hypnotizing aesthetic from start to finish.

The Untold Stories label continues in cosmic vibe with their PRO series single entitled Spok, by Franco Cinelli. The Bside features a remix by fellow Argentine and emerging talent Nektar Agu. The two artists first collaborated earlier in the year with Franco Cinelli doing a remix of Nektar Agu's track Rainy Days, which received support from Ricardo Villalobos. Now continuing in fine form Nektar Agu returns the favour with a superb remix of Franco's 14 minute atmospheric dance floor filler, developing it joyously, with intricate percussion and an altogether enlivening mood filled with Maasai voices which gives the remix a very different and earthly tribal spin in comparison to the more cosmic aura of the original Spok. Live long and prosper! More

Seven years after his last LP on Alpha House, Argentina’s Franco Cinelli has finished his next full length, All Frequencies, due for release on Esperanza in May 2014. Over the course of the last 15 years, Cinelli has released countless EPs on labels like Bass Culture, AirDrop and Ilian Tape and has proven himself to be a master of the groove, be it a house, techno or disco infected one. This new album encapsulates all that and channels his decades of musical experience into one album that has the dance floor as a common denominator. Disco, funk, house, techno, soul, dub, hypnosis, technology, love and peace are among the constant frequencies that permeate this album and make it such a compelling proposition. No time is wasted in getting down to business and opener ‘I Feel It’ pairs classic house percussion with heavy kick drums before playing with various filters, chucking in bleepy melodies and nice organic human voices. It’s an immediately arresting house track that leads on to the firmly rooted beats of ‘Chi-Trax’. This one is run through with some fine and pixelated synths, chattery claps and icy techno hi hats and it really makes you move. Form there the likes of ‘Cargo’ is built from some nicely rough edged sounding loops and ravey chord stabs, ‘Infiltrate’ drops into a much more subliminal and deeper techno groove and ‘Slippery Arp’ plays with a dynamic synth line that bubbles and boils up and down through the mix and take you with it every step of the way. Finally, there is also digital bonus track ‘Deep Forest’, a serene and emotive techno jam that is more about mind meditation and widescreen synths than it is sweaty dancefloors. It’s a beautiful way to end an album that is full of memorable moments and cultured but club-ready dynamite.

Intricately programmed club stompers, you can call minimal until you hear these tracks ripping trough a big PA! With the opening track 'Flog' you get a taste of the freaky after-hours grit that Alphahouse Records is becoming known for. 'M26' is a robotic hair-raiser for the new generation. Think M-nus on steroids. 'Twisted Machine' features a stompy groove and some snare work to drive the dancefloor. 'Vertientes' is a great DJ-Tool with a low slung bassline and dancing synths. 'C3d' bounces along with a razor bassline and some tricky transitions. and 'Project 64' finishes off the LP with a synth line that falls out of the ceiling and straight onto the dancefloor. Between his work as co-owner of Parisian label D.KO Records, playing bass with Secret Value Orchestra, his more recent psych-rock project Aboukir, and his own solo electronic productions as Flabaire, Ralph Maruani has carved his own cosmic melodic universe. Now at the age of 30, three albums already released and a number of EPs, appearances and remixes, Flabaire appeared already throughout France, and across borders (Tresor, Hoppetosse, Pratersauna, …).
His music has been recognised by legendary artists such as Move D or Point G/DJ Gregory as well as many others of his most accomplished peers. He recently released an acclaimed EP on Jimpster’s latest label Cyphon Recordings & just released a new EP on Rawax/Housewax

He is now on Bass Culture records with this amazing 5 tracks EP full of timeless funk and extra deep moodyness. Including a remix of the label boss D’Julz here in charge of beefing things up but keeping the orignal vibe intact. More

First up in D’Julz’s ‘The School of Night’ EP on his Bass Culture label is ‘Nu Bass’, a fresh and upbeat house sound with kinetic percussion and well-swung drums. Steamy vocal coos and deft synth stabs build a compelling future vibe before ‘Spooky Electrik’ comes in with more punchy but deep house sound. Dancing hi-hats pepper the groove along with curious little synth motifs, bringing a cosmic feel while the all-important bassline powers things forward. D’Julz’s knack for cooking up killer grooves is evident again on ‘Money, Honey, Monday?’ which is jacked up and percussive but also hugely seductive, with the smeared vocals and warming pads keeping things classy and soulful. Last of all, ‘Triperie’ is more menacing and stripped back – a paranoid lead synth roams about the mix as the crisp drums rise and fall in a fashion that will get floors marching late into the night.

D’Julz’s Bass Culture Records signs up ZKY for four exceptional deep house cuts.

ZKY’s ‘New Standards’ EP on Bass Culture opens up with ‘Zycho’, a lithe house sound with wispy pads that bring cosmic colour to its dynamic groove. It’s endlessly on the move and ramps up the tension with tripped-out chord movements. The fantastic ‘Floating Phonk’ then slows things down via funky loops and sprinkles of organic percussion. Filtered, cut-up vocal samples enter the mix next to smudged pads, adding warmth to ice-cold beats and otherworldly vocal murmurs.

‘Sonar Train’ showcases ZKY’s machine mastery, continuing his ‘New Standards’ EP on Bass Culture with grounded drum sounds accompanied by infectious synth work, making for a track set to light up any dance floor. ‘Feeling’ rounds out the release with muted chords and crawling, soft acid bass, swinging drum grooves getting things moving in this timeless new outing on D’Julz’s Bass Culture.

10 Years Of Bass Culture: Part 3
The third and final part of Bass Culture’s 10th anniversary package is here and we end on a high with two of the label’s brothers alongside the bossman himself, D’Julz. Also contributing to this milestone celebration are Leo Pol and Mr. G. For 10 years Bass Culture has maintained the highest standards when it comes to house and techno, releasing some seminal productions and becoming a go-to label for many of the scene’s true connoisseurs. This final installment of the 10 Years Of Bass Culture series keeps the quality as high as ever...
D’Julz leads the way with ‘Synchronicity’ a smooth groove that wraps you up in its smoky atmosphere. Once it gets rolling a mystical, flute-driven riff drifts in, evoking Middle Eastern rhythms as it dances above the seductive bassline. Subtle percussive elements shimmy and slide around the main break loop, keeping the energy levels on point. Magnifique!
Leo Pol steps up next with ‘Established 1991’. As the title suggests this cut has a retro-leaning outlook, conjuring up images of a warehouse rave on the outskirts of Paris in the early nineties. A deep bassline works alongside soft pads and strings with a stripped back drum arrangement. The beats really kick in just after the two minute mark, with the kicks and claps adding a dynamic layer to this simmering cut.
Last, but certainly not least, the right honourable Mr. G steps up with ‘Now Is The Time!’. As you might expect, the production and energy on this cut are utterly compelling. A moody start is peppered with a classic reggae sample as the tension slowly builds. Mr. G takes a considered approach, keep it dark and deadly without overcooking any of the elements, the brooding vibe simmering away from start to end. A masterclass and a perfect way to close the EP...

Unveiling the second installment from Bass Culture’s 10th anniversary package. Over the past decade D’Julz has established Bass Culture as one of the most respected outlets for authentic house and techno, focused squarely on the underground, designed to work the floor and give your body, mind and soul a large dose of bass-driven groove. Across three EPs, the label is unleashing fresh new music from an all-star cast of core family members - artists who have been part of the label’s success from the very early days, up until now. On Part Two we kick off with ‘Haze 1997’ by Mark Ambrose. With rugged, tribal-esque beats at its foundation this cut is taking no prisoners. Soon, a heinous bassline rolls in giving this one its fierce character. Cosmic pads drift in, with chirps and chimes that balance out the thick low end frequencies. Next up is Lady Blacktronika with ‘Congrats Bitch’, a typically bouncy production with skippy percussion and a seriously gnarly bassline. This one will send tremors through the dance floor. Add in the wistful analogue stabs that punctuate the top end and you’ve got a potent weapon to work the clubs with…On the flip side Alex Picone steps up with a contemplative yet punchy cut entitled ‘Melting Moon’. This is a soulful, groovy little number that will have your hips slinking from side to side, as it captivates your mind with its glistening effects and smooth b-line. Alex gives this one a touch of class, as only he can. Lastly, Chicago bossman DJ Skull delivers a funky cut to close the EP. ‘Mood’ blends jazz, funk and soul with the core foundations of real house music to create a wonderfully energetic track full of sexy, sassy vibes. Franco Cinelli gets things started with a cosmic bass odyssey aptly-titled ‘BC’. He combines a punchy beats with a heavy, groovy low end to create a propulsive energy. It has a retroaesthetic with the main riff transporting you back to the early nineties. A breakdown close to the end allows for a slight breather before the track closes in a similar vein. Next up John Jastszebski brings us ‘Wonder’, a smooth deep house cut with mesmerising pads and crisp percussion. The vibe slowly grows and evolves until we enter the main bodyof the track, which has a potency that juxtaposes the soft pads perfectly. A lush, potent cut to send floating into infinity…Finally Sebo K steps up with ‘The Scene’ a crisp, techy track with a heady atmosphere andhypnotic b-line. As we move into 2019, the captain of the good ship Bass Culture steers the label to its latest release with D’Julz delivering a hot new three­track EP. The seasoned Parisian maestro channels his years of experience into this new release, with a polished collection of tracks, all centred on the dance floor with subtle, yet persuasive production across all three cuts. As you may expect from D’Julz and Bass Culture, there is plenty of depth, energy and low end to keep those hips swinging and heads nodding… On side A things get off to a bouncy start with ‘Lemon Juice’, a funky little number with lively drum programming and a very spirited bassline. Quite minimal in its production, this cut uses its relative simplicity to grab you and keep you hypnotised until the very end. Flip the record over and side B starts with ‘Wrecka Stow’ taking us on a dark side ride. D’Julz kicks off side B in style with this driving techy cut. A simmering energy pervades throughout as he gently builds the tension, working from a spellbinding riff that repeats over and over. Occasional dips and rises in the energy create electrifying moments, as this rolls out with a deadly rhythm. Lastly, there’s ‘Singularity’, a sombre dance into the wilderness. This dreamy, mellow cut is pushed along by softened breaks and a subdued bassline. D’Julz tantalises our emotions with wistful atmospherics that send chills down your spine as you venture ever deeper into he misty realms of the eerie world he has created. Chicago pioneer DJ Skull steps up for the latest Bass Culture release bringing that original energy as only a native of the Windy City can do. After remixing ‘Houdini’ by D’Julz earlier this year it’s an honour to welcome DJ Skull back to the label for his debut EP. Skull’s depth of experience dates back the mideighties when he began to play house music when he was just 10 years old. Fast forward to 2018 and he’s still deeply involved with the music, keeping the passion alive and traveling across the world to spread the house music gospel. On this threetrack EP he brings the funk, undiluted and fresh with chunky bass, crisp beats and hints of acid coming through.On the Aside we have ‘Powered Funk’, a delightful cut with a laid back groove and a contagious rhythm that gets under your skin immediately. The beats skip along with precision, keeping the energy levels high while the low end keeps your hips swinging and head nodding. The main melody is uplifting and evolves into a symphony of positive vibrations. Flip the record over and side B kicks off with ‘Bopping’, a pianoled jam with the keys working in tandem with the gentle flutter of a flute and a jazzy double bass providing the heart and soul of the cut. Skull rolls this one out masterfully, with gentle progression and non stop energy throughout. Finally, we have the aptlynamed ‘Aseed’, a 303inspired track which uses that infamous acidsound to great effect. The low end rumbles along purposefully, with crisp 4x4 beats pushing things forward and that irresistable acid riff inducing the listener into a state of hypnosis. Bass Culture welcomes Frenchman Leo Pol to the fold for this fresh new four-tracker full of analogue vibes. Leo’s penchant for synthesisers and the warmth of his beloved machines is evident throughout this new release, with a retro soul spliced with modern sensibilities and, of course, visions of the future. Things get off to an energetic start with ‘Caliente’, a track that combines a killer main riff, scintillating pads and steam-powered percussion to really get those feet moving. This is followed by ‘Fnc Burning’, which totally slips the script with its off-kilter rhythm and UK-influenced breakbeat-esque sound. Get ready for a sublime breakdown, with more UK rave stylings in the second half… fresh!On the flip side we get ‘Dark Outside, which harks back to the early days of post-electro Detroit. Those formative years when masters like Juan Atkins were the soundtrack of Motor City… from the hushed, silky vocal to the cosmic bleeps, this is a homage to the ghosts of techno’s past, with a contemporary sheen.Finally, we finish up with ‘Techyes No!’, a dark, marauding stomper with a menacing atmosphere and spinetingling strings to really amplify the eerie feeling that pervades throughout. A diverse, yet cohesive collection of killer cuts from the young master Leo Pol and another superb Bass Culture release. Only the finest from D’Julz’s excellent label…

A UK techno powerhouse returns to Bass Culture for their 55th release, bringing the ruckus with four deadly cuts that combine killer beats with powerful bass and a high level of production, as you might expect from D’Julz’s respected label. Ben Sims appears under his Ron Bacardi alias with a follow up to 2015’s debut release, ‘Rock Your Body/First Effort’. Much like the first EP, Sims’ new release is fired up and ready to deliver its potent energy to the dance floors of the world.On the A side we’re met with ‘Windy City’, which kicks things off in frenetic style, its slamming beats colliding with the layers of analogue to produce a rather chaotic start to proceedings. This is followed by ‘Ready For Action’ a tough, bouncing cut featuring a delectable female vocal which really sets things off nicely.

The flipside continues in a similar vein as ‘One Left In The Chamber’ brings a smooth vibe, though with the emphasis still on the percussive side of things. Sims flexes his production muscles across all four tracks here, injecting the music with his years of experience on the road and in the studio. The last track is a ‘Beats Mix’ of ‘Ready For Action’, highlighting the focus on beats, beats and more beats, adding an extra touch to an already powerful track. This is music par excellence from an artist who is a consummate professional, enjoy!

It’s time for the next release on long-running Paris label Bass Culture and owner D’Julz has invited a crack team of talented individuals to deliver the magic to this latest instalment in the label’s release schedule. This extra special remix package features contributions from the legendary DJ Skull, along with Sebo K, Henrik Bergqvist and Romanian MP. The bossman’s own 2015 EP ‘Houdini’ is the subject of this exquisite bunch of reworks, giving the whole release a fresh lick of paint from a group of artists handpicked by D’Julz to get to work on his productions. The title track ‘Houdini’ is first in line, with the mighty DJ Skull on remix duty. The Chi-town legend has been a favourite of D’Julz since the early nineties when he was releasing on labels such as Djax-Up-Beats. The funk-imbued workout he creates from the original production is superb and a testament to someone who has been involved in music for three decades and still going strong. Keeping DJ Skull’s remix company on the A-side is Sebo K with his take on ‘Serendipity’. Following on from his outstanding EP ‘Brock Wild’, Sebo returns to Bass Culture with another taught dance floor cut, full of swing and groove, pushed along with a strong, insistent energy. On the flipside the deep sultry flavours continue to bubble up. Two more dynamic artists bring their unique touch to Bass Culture and the first is the Romanian wonderkid MP (Mihai Popescu), who has previously released on the sub-label Bass Culture Limited. His reinterpretation of ‘Serendipity’ is deep, nuanced and quirky with a simmering atmosphere throughout.Last but certainly not least is the Swedish maestro Henrik Bergqvist. ‘Waiting 4 Visa’ gets a kick in its step, with mysterious cosmic FX layered over a mesmerising bassline and a collection of bleeps and chirps that really bring the remix to life. And there it is, four superb new mixes of three great tracks… enjoy!
