180G cyan blue 12" vinyl with Laser-etched tracklist in double sleeves and a deluxe PvC wallet with flap. Dimitri Fergadis's L.A based label Halocyan follow up a slew of high-profile releases from the likes of Paul Woolford, Arkist, Raudive and Gravious with the next coming courtesy of the ever-evolving Hackman backed up with remixes from Timo Maas and KiNK. At just 24, Hackman has already amassed a lauded back catalogue that's touched 20:20 Vision, Futureboogie, Greco-Roman and Rampa offshoot PTN. As an artist he's consistently diversified his sound and - akin to the ethos of Halocyan - has kept one foot firmly in dance music's rich history as well as looking forwards with each release. His latest offering 'Semibreves' shows Hackman returning to the tougher, more armoured facet of his catalogue epitomised by his collaboration with Tessela on Audio Culture back in 2011. Complex, primal rhythms are laced with his stout and muscular bass tones while he uses melody to astutely whip up rapture. First up on remix duties is Rockets & Ponies co-founder Timo Maas; a stalwart experimentalist who has earned his stripes across a vast and varied back catalogue. His take on 'Grass Green' melds rasping bass tones with twisted and eerie melodies that roll out over an elongated breakdown. Next up is KiNK whose penchant for analogue circuitry is manifested across his harmonious remix of 'Semibreves' - swooning synth propel a major / minor shift as his rattling drums keep the pressure up throughout and bolster another solid addition to the Halocyan series. Late November will see the release of Hackman's 'Carry On' EP via 2020Vision, backed with a remix from Rampa. English producer Ben Hackman, better known to most as simply Hackman has made huge shapes over the past four years since making his debut on RAMP sub-label PTN back in 2010. Ben has since gone on to unveil material through other reputable imprints such as Greco Roman, Well Rounded and Futureboogie Recordings, testament to his striking production skills and contemporary appeal. Here we see Ben push on adding yet another driving force in the industry to his associations, namely 2020Vision. Kicking things off is the original mix of title cut 'Carry On', seeing Hackman employ soft ethereal textures, crisp percussive elements and fervent vocal lines injecting soul and charm into the composition. Ben then implements his signature rugged, drawn-out bass sounds to the focal stages adding the grit and cutting intensity his records have become so known and loved for over the years. A 'Dub' take on 'Carry On' is offered up to follow, and as the name would suggest we're treated to a more refined, progressive and groove-led interpretation of the original cut. Opening up the latter half of the release is Mobilee/Cocoon artist Rampa's rework of 'The Blue', laying the focus on a hypnotic, percussive led structure to take the lead, while the dreamy soundscapes and sub bass stabs of the original track are sporadically thrown into the mix, resulting in a stunning seven and a half minute steady bloomer. The package is then rounded off with 'The Blue (Instrumental)', seeing Hackman fuse bumpy off-kilter rhythms with multi-layered grainy synth lines, closing things on a smooth and melodious tip. More

Lone returns to Greco-Roman with a two track 12” of some of his finest work to date. A’-side Waterfall Reverse’ is an ecstatic hardcore song that ascends into a utopian dream. Following widespread acclaim for his recent LP ‘Always Inside your Head’, on March 4th / April 8th Matt Cutler AKA Lone releases four re-works of tracks from the album, entitled ‘Natural Aerials’. On ‘Natural Aerials (Mouth of God Part Two)’, Lone utilises a similar sound palette as album track ‘Mouth Of God’, but rebuilds it into a brand new banger. Energetic, deep, trancey and driven by jungle-schooled breakbeats, with bassbin shuddering low-end, he delves deeper into the vortex. Whereas the album was made predominantly using software, Cutler has since been buying hardware – and this marks the first track made on these newly acquired synths. Based around a version from Lone’s recent sold-out live show at London’s Village Underground, on ‘Inlove2 (One Thirty Mix)’ he ups the original’s BPM count, with sights set firmly on the dancefloor. Taking cues from the ‘Ambivert Tools’ series, this is a high-grade, proggy, main room acid rush. On ‘Visited By Astronauts (SHERELLE Had A Groove Remix)’, the fast-rising star takes an ambient interlude from the album, and gives it what she calls “a space age, footwork jungle twist”. Her first released remix, Sherelle continues an impeccable purple patch, with a re-rub that’s both airy and light, but also heavily percussive, full of propulsive forward motion. She states, "it’s a pleasure and honour to remix for Lone, as being a long time fan, it's a beautiful thing to be able to collaborate. I really wanted my first remix to be special and also for someone who I hugely admire, so Matt asking me to be involved in this process wastruly magical!” ‘Echo Paths Ebb And Flow’ takes a downtempo album highlight, strips it back to just the synths, then unfurls them into a blissful ambient work that’s melodic, warm and fuzzy, swaddling the listener in candy floss clouds. On 22nd October, the Nottingham-raised and highly-praised musician/DJ/producer Matt Cutler, AKA Lone, presents his 8th album – and first in 5 years – ‘Always Inside Your Head’. It marks two major changes, with both a new label and new approach – featuring vocalists for the first time. This deeply textural and ethereal artwork is situated high above the clouds, amidst the heavens, occupying a stratospheric state where swathes of synthesized vapour and azure rays sound like a literal breath of fresh air. A varied selection of music influenced the record, but two main influences were Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. “I wanted to approach a range of different styles, but attack them from their angle in a way, so for example on 'Inlove2' I tried to imagine what a Balearic / acid house tune might sound like if it were produced by Kevin Shields”, comments Lone. Another key example of Cutler’s strange but successful combination of elements is the halcyon bliss of ‘Echo Paths’, where his trademark fat drums and love for hip hop meet double-time pan pipes, dub effects and dream pop, mixed into a wonderfully lysergic concoction. In addition to the above, the LP exists somewhere between trip hop on Mo' Wax, 90s Warp, intelligent drum & bass and ambient house. There are heavier forays too, like ‘Mouth Of God’, where darker clouds emerge, but are pierced like acid lightning with fierce, tearing tech-step bass. Although still firmly rooted in club culture – here Lone shows a definite leaning towards a song-based sound, with several tracks edging towards the same crossover space as the nineties hits which also inspired him – particularly William Orbit’s production on Madonna's 'Frozen', and Olive's 'You're Not Alone'. This is especially evident on the bright, spacious brilliance of 'Hidden By Horizons', where vocals and synths swirl around one another, with crisp breakbeats and reggae rolls pushing purposefully through the ether. Despite initially seeming almost entirely sunny of disposition, upon deeper immersion there’s lot more beneath the album’s surface, both in its deep pools of immiscible layered elements, and also thematically. When recording Cutler kept in mind a loose narrative based on birth, death, and our existence in-between. He then extended this idea to reach what may happen after death, which is reflected in the sequencing: By penultimate track ‘Undaunted’ the life reflected in this longplayer has come to an end, which is then followed by 'Coming In To Being And Passing Away' – an afterlife epilogue, which evokes a transition from this world to the next. Hot on the heels of their recently released label compilation We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance In The Dark, and an EP from new talent TCTS, London via Berlin collective Greco-Roman get set to release ‘Our Town’ by letthemusicplay featuring Kate Tempest Remixes on December 9th 2013. Starting out as a teen rapper in Lewisham and now hailed by The Guardian as “one of the brightest British talents around”, 27 yearold South London spoken word phenomenon Kate Tempest has been causing a stir at poetry slams and performances up and down the UK, from Glastonbury festival to the Edinburgh Fringe. This year saw her self-penned performance piece Brand New Ancients claim the Ted Hughes Award for innovation in poetry – making her the first person under 40 to do so – and shortly after her victory she was one of eight poets commissioned to perform at the Hayward Gallery’s Light Show in London. While Brand New Ancients saw Tempest backed by an orchestra, on ‘Our Town’ she join forces with letthemusicplay, two enigmatic London-based beat-makers who craft a punchy UK house backdrop to more than match her pneumatic words, with fizzing synth bursts and ping pong beats peppering exhortations to spend the afternoon in bed with three bottles of wine, to drink ‘til the sun
comes up and stagger through alleyways. With echoes of fellow urban poets The Streets and Gil Scott–Heron, ‘Our Town’ is a paean to loved-up nights in the city, drunken confessionals and post-rave sunrises narrated by one of the UK’s fiercest voices. ‘Our Town’ Remixes is released on December 9th via Greco-Roman, backed with remixes from none other than Lennie De Ice, the man responsible for the 90's track "We Are I.e" which is often considered to be one of the first Jungle records. This Autumn the most prolific label in the game, Greco-Roman, keeps on giving as they announce an EP from rising Manchester DJ/producer TCTS aka Sam O’Neill. The respected London collective will release ‘These Heights’ on November 25th TCTS first came to attention with his debut EP ‘Hands’ on the Cool Kid Music label, and following the success of that release Bondax snapped up his underground hit ‘1997’ for their fledgling
imprint Just Us. The track soon landed on the BBC Radio 1 playlist with support from key protagonists including Huw Stephens, Nick

Now TCTS follows in the hallowed footsteps of Greco alumni Disclosure, Joe Goddard, Roosevelt and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs as he gets ready to release a stunning EP next month. Across 4 exquisite tracks ‘These Heights’ showcases his signature blend of a house aesthetic married with lush synth work and on point percussion, making it arguably his most important and arresting release to date. Greco-Roman welcomes a new artist to its camp: following some first appearances at the collective’s local events, London-based producer Enchante will soon release his debut EP North End there, while playing the next Berlin label night this Saturday with Azari & III (DJ set) and others at Picknick. And the new material perfectly fits into the usual Greco-diversity: opening track “Ego” offers deep UK garage, while “Reggay” (despite its name) comes in as the finest skweee-2step we have heard in a long while.
