180G cyan blue 12" vinyl with Laser-etched tracklist in double sleeves and a deluxe PvC wallet with flap. The outer sleeve is embossed with die cut over-sized centres, 2 spot uv stickers and a cyan metallic foiled stamp. Dimitri Fergadis's L.A based label Halocyan follow up a slew of high-profile releases from the likes of Paul Woolford, Arkist, Raudive and Gravious with the next coming courtesy of the ever-evolving Hackman backed up with remixes from Timo Maas and KiNK. At just 24, Hackman has already amassed a lauded back catalogue that's touched 20:20 Vision, Futureboogie, Greco-Roman and Rampa offshoot PTN. As an artist he's consistently diversified his sound and - akin to the ethos of Halocyan - has kept one foot firmly in dance music's rich history as well as looking forwards with each release. His latest offering 'Semibreves' shows Hackman returning to the tougher, more armoured facet of his catalogue epitomised by his collaboration with Tessela on Audio Culture back in 2011. Complex, primal rhythms are laced with his stout and muscular bass tones while he uses melody to astutely whip up rapture. First up on remix duties is Rockets & Ponies co-founder Timo Maas; a stalwart experimentalist who has earned his stripes across a vast and varied back catalogue. His take on 'Grass Green' melds rasping bass tones with twisted and eerie melodies that roll out over an elongated breakdown. Next up is KiNK whose penchant for analogue circuitry is manifested across his harmonious remix of 'Semibreves' - swooning synth propel a major / minor shift as his rattling drums keep the pressure up throughout and bolster another solid addition to the Halocyan series.

hackman - The Blue (Instrumental)
Late November will see the release of Hackman's 'Carry On' EP via 2020Vision, backed with a remix from Rampa. English producer Ben Hackman, better known to most as simply Hackman has made huge shapes over the past four years since making his debut on RAMP sub-label PTN back in 2010. Ben has since gone on to unveil material through other reputable imprints such as Greco Roman, Well Rounded and Futureboogie Recordings, testament to his striking production skills and contemporary appeal. Here we see Ben push on adding yet another driving force in the industry to his associations, namely 2020Vision. Kicking things off is the original mix of title cut 'Carry On', seeing Hackman employ soft ethereal textures, crisp percussive elements and fervent vocal lines injecting soul and charm into the composition. Ben then implements his signature rugged, drawn-out bass sounds to the focal stages adding the grit and cutting intensity his records have become so known and loved for over the years. A 'Dub' take on 'Carry On' is offered up to follow, and as the name would suggest we're treated to a more refined, progressive and groove-led interpretation of the original cut. Opening up the latter half of the release is Mobilee/Cocoon artist Rampa's rework of 'The Blue', laying the focus on a hypnotic, percussive led structure to take the lead, while the dreamy soundscapes and sub bass stabs of the original track are sporadically thrown into the mix, resulting in a stunning seven and a half minute steady bloomer. The package is then rounded off with 'The Blue (Instrumental)', seeing Hackman fuse bumpy off-kilter rhythms with multi-layered grainy synth lines, closing things on a smooth and melodious tip.

22 year old Hackman has been one of the most rewarding artists to emerge from the UK's ever-shifting dance music landscape in recent years.
Debuting in 2010 with sublime singles for RAMP offshoot PTN ('More than Ever', 'Made Up My Mind'), and more recently releasing an EP for Greco Roman featuring the magnificent 'Close', followed by 'Agree To Disagree' for PTN, Hackman has won fans across the board, from Nick Grimshaw to Mary Anne Hobbs to Skream, and the Gilles Peterson approved 'Forgotten Notes'. Currently in the studio working with a series of vocalists for his upcoming debut album scheduled for release on RAMP later this year, Hackman drops a 12" of hazy summer vibes with 'Fists Of Ham', backed with a broken techno remix from Fourth Wave artist Felix Lenferink for 2084 Records. This is the one. This is the summer tune of 2011. Skream Annie Mac & Nick Grimshaw have all been building the hype Hackman's epic title track Close. Probably one of the best pieces of, bass driven vocal dance music this year. Cheekily sniping the Alicia Keys acapella from 'No One' and employing the pitching down technique Hackman compliments the vocal riff with layers of heavily clapped out garage breakbeats, and tops it off with a euphoric, futuristic grime bassline that rolls out like an Atlantic breaker. It's not just close, it's perfect - and it's another effortlessly curated release from Greco-Roman

dave angel - Portrait (Hackman Remix)
Halocyan outlines computer music's many future possibilities, while remaining actively mindful of its one and only history. Having released material from such luminaries as Dosem, Paul Woodford, Oliver Ho, Extrawelt, and Joey Beltram - Halocyan continues to assert its influence with their next record: a 2-part EP from Apollo and R&S affiliate Dave Angel. Founder of Rotation Records and originally hailing from Chelsea, Angel is a Techno emissary whose intelligent, Funk-licked productions have propelled him through a long and illustrious career through which he has consistently branded his own stamp on Electronic Music whilst also remaining highly relevant to modern listeners. It's this that lends him perfectly to a record with Halocyan who do what they do best in presenting his 'Incoming' EP: a sincerely-rooted collection that comes backed up by label favourite Hackman on remix duties. ‘Portrait' kicks things off with jubilant melodies rippling atop sharp, whetted percussion before minor-key sweeps bleed in and bring with them a degree of pensive tension. A buoyant bass line propels the track from Dave Angel - Incoming EP beneath before Hackman offers up a deftly swung revision rich with his sturdy
subs and idiosyncratic percussive flutters.

extrawelt - "Splendid Nausea" (VRIL remix)
Halocyan continue to plunge deeper into their 'Originary Technicity' series which has already featured an EP by Hackman backed up by remixers such as Timo Maas and KiNK. For their latest offering, the L.A coterie have enlisted the talents of the legendary German duo Extrawelt and have backed them up with remixes from championed master of machines Ulrich Schnauss as well as Joey Beltram and Giegling affiliate Vril. Extrawelt's 'Breaking Bricks' remixes addition to Halocyan's Originary Technicity series will be released across two separate volumes with Ulrich Schnauss' interpretation and the two original mixes on the first and Joey Beltram and Vril's revisions featuring on the second. Having released several EPs through Cocoon as well as 12"s on James Holden's Border Community, Kompass Musik and Traum Schallplatten, Extrawelt have evinced infallible consistency across their back catalogue and have long been regarded an eminent and influential force in the world of experimental Techno. Joey Beltram kicks off Volume 2 with a remix of 'Breaking Bricks'. Having landmark successes at Drumcode, Harthouse, Bush and MB Electronics, Beltram continues to be a leading innovator of underground Dance Music in the US and abroad. Bustling with neatly crafted percussion, ducking synths and a spearing, propulsive bass pattern - his remix moves with brisk, mechanical purpose and adds a signature degree of energy to the original. Next up is the enigmatic Vril whose saturnine style of Techno has earned him releases on Delsin and Music Man as well as Giegling and live shows at spots as reputable as Berghain. Sticking to his trusted canon, Vril's remix grows naturally with a live feeling - hats are gradually pitched throughout as brash, metallic loops ferry the listener into a trance and round off another addition to the Originary Technicity series which comes as yet another rich and cohesive package from the ever-reliable Halocyan."

Having released several EPs through Cocoon as well as 12"s on James Holden's Border Community, Kompass Musik and Traum Schallplatten, Extrawelt have evinced infallible consistency across their back catalogue and have long been regarded an eminent and influential force in the world of experimental Techno. Their contribution to the Originary Technicity series comes in the form of two excursive pieces beginning with 'Breaking Bricks' which sets jutting percussive knocks under a sheet of shimmering hats and pellucid clicks and shuffles. A thick and purposeful bass patterns drives through the mix and propels progress towards a shift into a patch of interwoven melodies that render the sort of saccharine dystopia that fans of Extrawelt will be familiar with. ‘Splendid Nausea' then blooms behind nifty sound design and gently flexing pads before a persistent pulse emerges and sets things flickering out of focus. A seasick bass line emerges pushing a dark, plodding mood along until the close before Domino and Pedigree Cuts contributor, Ulrich Schnauss then steps in to bolster the package with his own spectral take on Breaking Bricks. Steadily building a wall of undulating pads propelled by frazzled circuit signals, Schnauss rounds off another addition to the Originary Technicity series which comes as yet another rich and cohesive package from the ever-reliable Halocyan."
