CLR releases another chapter in the remix series of Tommy Four Seven tracks, taken from his recently released debut album "Primate" (CLRCD010). This time the remixing artists are CLR label head Chris Liebing and Stroboscopic Artefacts founder Lucy, who produced two distinctive versions of Tommy Four Seven´s original tracks. While Chris Liebing´s remix of "Snout" is straightforward, top-notch Techno, Lucy´s remix is a rhythmically unusual, yet elegant approach to the original track by the name of "Talus", which is also included on the EP. Due to the organic quality of the original sound material, almost exclusively consisting of alienated field recordings by Tommy Four Seven, this release stands out from most of the of current Techno productions and pays respect to the innovative approach of this uncompromising artist.

It features two remixes of two different tracks from Tommy Four Seven´s recently released debut album "Primate" (CLRCD010). For this occasion, none other than one of the undisputed founding fathers of Detroit Techno and Minimal Techno, Robert Hood, and the genre-bending Dub-Techno pioneer Sigha have come to the table and have delivered two massive remixes of those highly innovative tracks by the British born, Berlin-based producer. Also included in the package are "Verge", the original track remixed by Sigha, as well as another original track by the name of "G". To understand why this is a truly memorable release, one has to know that Tommy Four Seven's approach to music is unlike a musician. Instead, he prefers to sound design, recording and sculpting elements into deep engaging atmospheres. "Primate" is a vivid example of this extraordinary production ethos. At the end of March 2011, CLR (Create - Learn - Realize) will release the debut album "Primate" of British born and Berlin based DJ, producer and sound designer Tommy Four Seven.
Due to its unconventional and innovative production ethos, the record sets itself apart from the majority of contemporary techno productions. Tommy Four Seven did not use any of the traditional percussion and beat sounds, such as hi hats, snares, rides, shakers or claps nor did he choose to work with synthesizers. Instead he used field recordings as the catalyst to shape rhythm and sound, many of which he recorded in his daily life in the city or on the road, are alienated beyond recognition. In addition to this, where most would use synthesizers, Tommy instead sculptured engaging vocal recordings, simply adding new and unusual textures to the sonic picture. Musically "Primate" is as interesting as it is sonically. It is at the same time deep and hypnotic, driving and exhilarating, with downright unorthodox beat structures and sequences. It delivers everything we could expect from a current techno production, without using a single cliché. When Chris Liebing first listened to it, he was immediately fascinated and amazed. For the first CLR release of 2023, Chris Liebing drops a heavy-hitting EP for his own imprint, the two-track
‘Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP’. Leading the release, ‘For Those Who Fight’ combines
sub-rattling kicks and siren-esque bleeps with rousing vocal samples and shimmering percussion for a
warehouse-filling club cut. ‘With Passion And Faith’ keeps the energy levels high with dubbed-out FX, twisted
atmospherics and sizzling drum machines.
While 2022 was dominated by Liebing’s ‘Another Day’ LP and remix version, ‘Another Night’, for Daniel
Miller’s Mute, 2023 will see Liebing in full-on singles mode with some notable collaborations to come.
Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint started in 1999 and returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Now titled Create
Learn Repeat, CLR reemerged in the techno underground with releases from Liebing himself, followed by

HKH touches the more peak time side of things, but by infusing some deep pads it creates a slightly more Detroit edge overall.
"Usually, I try to build my tracks around as minimum sounds as possible, but in this case all these lead sounds just made sense to me", says ROD.
The second track "GHT" sees ROD experimenting at a late trippy night and just flowing it out.
"This might be one of the weirdest tracks I have made so far. It reminds me it's always a good thing to search and experiment when your usual way of doing things doesn't inspire you anymore".

Synchronicity lifts up the pace and is a full out techno groove workout, Rebekah's signature kicks come in to play but is almost more elegant here, complimenting the Distant pieces but also holding its own within the more discerning of dance floors. STERAC has produced two fantastic remixes of the title track Distant, remix 1, is more of a groovier exploration where as remix 2 (digital only), leans to the more hypnotic side, both remixes are outstanding as expected from STERAC aka Steve Rachmad, modern techno at its best.

CLR is back with release number 83 and has something very special in store this time. Monoloc's latest effort offers a challenging mixture of various electronic music genres. Apart from the original version and the Monoloc Edit, which occupy the A side of the vinyl, two highly respected producers have contributed remixes to this project, making it an impressive assembly of potential A sides. Monoloc's original version underlines the capacity of the Berlin based producer, to create unorthodox, suspenseful Techno with a very personal handwriting. Once more the beat structure, treatment of vocal bits, the selection of sounds and the overall arrangement and production style make his productions easily recognizable and truly unique. His additional edit surprises with a mesmerizing and enchanting sequence, which could easily become one of those laid back after hour sunrise classics. The two versions alone would make a dignified EP already, but then there are the remixes by Roman Lindau and Rødhåd, which turn this release into one of the most diversified CLR releases ever. While Roman Lindau takes a House oriented direction and excellently works out the potential of the track on the more uplifting side of the musical spectrum, Berghain resident Rødhåd explores the dark side of Monoloc's composition and delivers a haunting Techno version full of well balanced bass, phasing sequences and an irresistible, almost tribal rhythm structure. CLR083 is one of those releases that characterises the direction the label has taken over the last years and is equally interesting to DJs from all kinds of stylistic branches of the scene. It´s available on vinyl as well as digitally and will surely grace countless record bags and playlists all over the world.

With the present four tracks compilation of exclusive Techno productions, Rebekah delivers the third and last part of CLR's new format, which consists of an hour and a half dj mix and two subsequent EPs. Once more, Rebekah has chosen a mixture of tracks by fellow CLR players and other colleagues she admires for their cutting edge, quality production style. Long-time CLR artist and mastering technician Brian Sanhaji contributed "Gyre", the first track of the release and a truly mesmerizing, acidic journey, which fulfills the usual, extremely high sonic standard the experienced producer is known for. The second track "Berkel" was produced by Dualit and is characterized by a comparatively laid-back vibe with a gently driving rhythm, irresistibly haunting atmospheres and sequences. It closes the A-side of the vinyl and leaves you with the urge to turn it around and keep listening. The B-side contains two more tracks by Bas Mooy and by Rebekah herself. Bas Mooy´s "Exile" is another good example of minimalistic, driving and hypnotic Techno with an extraordinary rhythm and a diversified structure, while Rebekah manifests with "Zero Point" what she is best known for: straight-forward, full on, banging Techno with heaps of positive energy from the relentless side of the genre. Her second "Mind Sets" effort is a thoughtful selection, a dignified continuation of the first part of the sampler and should be enjoyed loud on top-notch sound systems. Rebekah completes the first edition of CLR's brand-new vinyl/digital venture and once more recommends herself as a tasteful advocate of uncompromising, undying Techno.

With "Mind Sets", CLR artist Rebekah is introducing a new format on the imprint, consisting of an hour and a half mix and two subsequent EP Samplers for release. While the EP's in the series contain pretty straightforward Techno tracks by artists she admires, the compilation mix from the prolific DJ/producer known for her thunderous and relentless Techno beats shows a more experimental side of her musical spectrum.
