Bryan Black AKA Black Asteroid returns to Electric Deluxe with his most precise and daring invention yet. 'Metal' picks up from where the 'Black Acid EP' left off with more sonic alchemies sounding unlike anything else. The former Prince engineer turned MOTOR front man turned galvanic techno DJ, producer and performer has had an incredible run in his latest guise. Since debuting on CLR with 'The Engine EP' over a series of well-shaped and energetic releases Bryan Black has forged a distinct and unique signature that is tactile, otherworldly and utterly timeless.
Ingenious sound design has become his calling card, while Black's award winning MOTOR heritage never seems far behind. Moments on 'Black Acid' felt like he brought the band to the DJ booth. And with 'Metal' the sentiment rings even truer. This is "heavy metal techno," says Black, "but in a very restrained and controlled way." Indeed the hum of guitars (synths routed through guitar pedals) whirr through lead track "Metal," a taut and punchy workout spliced with token Black Asteroid weirdness. Meanwhile Black gets even more contained on the masterfully metronomic "Turbine".
Droid affiliate Luis Flores and Pinion (Bobby Dowell) then split "Metal" off into its opposing sectors. Flores takes things straight the dance floor, while Pinion ramps up the noise and clangor to turn in a real unholy "Metal" monster. Another must for Black Asteroid fans and for those who like their techno cast from mysterious molds.

Another CLR release is due and this time it consists of a powerful remix package for Bryan Black´s new project "Black Asteroid". The highly recommendable originals by this unconventional Techno innovator have been released as CLR 049 and have been sounding frequently on dance-floors all over the planet ever since. Two of the three perfectly balanced remixes have been crafted by CLR´s mastering wizard, renowned live act and busy producer Brian Sanhaji. His widely known warm and organic trademark sound characterizes both of the versions, giving you the choice between two rhythmically and sonically diverse options for different occasions. Dave Clarke, who already played an early demo of the Engine EP long before it came out, contributed a highly energetic remix for the peak time moments of the night. His take on Engine 1 is called "Unsubscribe Remix" and was produced by himself and Mr. Jones. The remix takes the essence of the original track and adds Clarke´s punk attitude in its purest form. Though there has been a long studio absence, we are pleased that he took this remix duty. CLR is more than happy with this combination of high quality remixes and hopes that you enjoy this memorable release.

For the first CLR release of 2023, Chris Liebing drops a heavy-hitting EP for his own imprint, the two-track
‘Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP’. Leading the release, ‘For Those Who Fight’ combines
sub-rattling kicks and siren-esque bleeps with rousing vocal samples and shimmering percussion for a
warehouse-filling club cut. ‘With Passion And Faith’ keeps the energy levels high with dubbed-out FX, twisted
atmospherics and sizzling drum machines.
While 2022 was dominated by Liebing’s ‘Another Day’ LP and remix version, ‘Another Night’, for Daniel
Miller’s Mute, 2023 will see Liebing in full-on singles mode with some notable collaborations to come.
Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint started in 1999 and returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Now titled Create

"Usually, I try to build my tracks around as minimum sounds as possible, but in this case all these lead sounds just made sense to me", says ROD.
The second track "GHT" sees ROD experimenting at a late trippy night and just flowing it out.
"This might be one of the weirdest tracks I have made so far. It reminds me it's always a good thing to search and experiment when your usual way of doing things doesn't inspire you anymore".

Distant is Rebekah's 2nd release on CLR, after the success of her first Cycles EP back in 2013, the long awaited second single Distant is veering towards a deeper side of this Artist's repertoire. Its downtempo and slightly experimental but also warm and inviting. STERAC has produced two fantastic remixes of the title track Distant, remix 1, is more of a groovier exploration where as remix 2 (digital only), leans to the more hypnotic side, both remixes are outstanding as expected from STERAC aka Steve Rachmad, modern techno at its best.

CLR is back with release number 83 and has something very special in store this time. Monoloc's latest effort offers a challenging mixture of various electronic music genres. Apart from the original version and the Monoloc Edit, which occupy the A side of the vinyl, two highly respected producers have contributed remixes to this project, making it an impressive assembly of potential A sides. Monoloc's original version underlines the capacity of the Berlin based producer, to create unorthodox, suspenseful Techno with a very personal handwriting. Once more the beat structure, treatment of vocal bits, the selection of sounds and the overall arrangement and production style make his productions easily recognizable and truly unique. His additional edit surprises with a mesmerizing and enchanting sequence, which could easily become one of those laid back after hour sunrise classics. The two versions alone would make a dignified EP already, but then there are the remixes by Roman Lindau and Rødhåd, which turn this release into one of the most diversified CLR releases ever. While Roman Lindau takes a House oriented direction and excellently works out the potential of the track on the more uplifting side of the musical spectrum, Berghain resident Rødhåd explores the dark side of Monoloc's composition and delivers a haunting Techno version full of well balanced bass, phasing sequences and an irresistible, almost tribal rhythm structure. CLR083 is one of those releases that characterises the direction the label has taken over the last years and is equally interesting to DJs from all kinds of stylistic branches of the scene. Long-time CLR artist and mastering technician Brian Sanhaji contributed "Gyre", the first track of the release and a truly mesmerizing, acidic journey, which fulfills the usual, extremely high sonic standard the experienced producer is known for. The second track "Berkel" was produced by Dualit and is characterized by a comparatively laid-back vibe with a gently driving rhythm, irresistibly haunting atmospheres and sequences. It closes the A-side of the vinyl and leaves you with the urge to turn it around and keep listening. The B-side contains two more tracks by Bas Mooy and by Rebekah herself.
