With "Mind Sets", CLR artist Rebekah is introducing a new format on the imprint, consisting of an hour and a half mix and two subsequent EP Samplers for release. While the EP's in the series contain pretty straightforward Techno tracks by artists she admires, the compilation mix from the prolific DJ/producer known for her thunderous and relentless Techno beats shows a more experimental side of her musical spectrum. It features a skilfully arranged, suspenseful and haunting, sometimes edgy and sometimes spherical mixture of tracks, which can be easily listened to outside of the club as well.
The first of the two EP Samplers Rebekah compiled for this launch release consists entirely of exclusive productions which capture a moment in time within the continuously changing Techno genre. With their outstanding productions, Perc, Dark Chambers, Pfirter and Operator, the artists Rebekah had asked for their contribution, have delivered superb manifestations of this exciting moment in Techno history. For the first CLR release of 2023, Chris Liebing drops a heavy-hitting EP for his own imprint, the two-track
‘Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP’. Leading the release, ‘For Those Who Fight’ combines
sub-rattling kicks and siren-esque bleeps with rousing vocal samples and shimmering percussion for a
warehouse-filling club cut. ‘With Passion And Faith’ keeps the energy levels high with dubbed-out FX, twisted
atmospherics and sizzling drum machines.
While 2022 was dominated by Liebing’s ‘Another Day’ LP and remix version, ‘Another Night’, for Daniel
Miller’s Mute, 2023 will see Liebing in full-on singles mode with some notable collaborations to come.
Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint started in 1999 and returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Now titled Create
Learn Repeat, CLR reemerged in the techno underground with releases from Liebing himself, followed by
newcomer Frankie Bromley, upstarts Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr, DEAS, Truncate, Drumcell and
techno legend Luke Slater.

HKH touches the more peak time side of things, but by infusing some deep pads it creates a slightly more Detroit edge overall.
"Usually, I try to build my tracks around as minimum sounds as possible, but in this case all these lead sounds just made sense to me", says ROD.
The second track "GHT" sees ROD experimenting at a late trippy night and just flowing it out.
"This might be one of the weirdest tracks I have made so far. It reminds me it's always a good thing to search and experiment when your usual way of doing things doesn't inspire you anymore".

Distant is Rebekah's 2nd release on CLR, after the success of her first Cycles EP back in 2013, the long awaited second single Distant is veering towards a deeper side of this Artist's repertoire. Rebekah has been pushing her sound forward in the studio and has in the last year worked more and more with analogue synths and sequencers which is evident in the title track. Opting for a more broken beat and using a vast palette to create a soundscape that keeps the groove moving forward, which opens up with darker pads, maintaining the mood and feel. Distant Memory takes sounds from the original track and shapes it into something slightly different and unpredictable by Rebekah, showcasing a completely new element of this artists work. Its downtempo and slightly experimental but also warm and inviting. Synchronicity lifts up the pace and is a full out techno groove workout, Rebekah's signature kicks come in to play but is almost more elegant here, complimenting the Distant pieces but also holding its own within the more discerning of dance floors. STERAC has produced two fantastic remixes of the title track Distant, remix 1, is more of a groovier exploration where as remix 2 (digital only), leans to the more hypnotic side, both remixes are outstanding as expected from STERAC aka Steve Rachmad, modern techno at its best.

Apart from the original version and the Monoloc Edit, which occupy the A side of the vinyl, two highly respected producers have contributed remixes to this project, making it an impressive assembly of potential A sides. Monoloc's original version underlines the capacity of the Berlin based producer, to create unorthodox, suspenseful Techno with a very personal handwriting. Once more the beat structure, treatment of vocal bits, the selection of sounds and the overall arrangement and production style make his productions easily recognizable and truly unique. His additional edit surprises with a mesmerizing and enchanting sequence, which could easily become one of those laid back after hour sunrise classics. The two versions alone would make a dignified EP already, but then there are the remixes by Roman Lindau and Rødhåd, which turn this release into one of the most diversified CLR releases ever. While Roman Lindau takes a House oriented direction and excellently works out the potential of the track on the more uplifting side of the musical spectrum, Berghain resident Rødhåd explores the dark side of Monoloc's composition and delivers a haunting Techno version full of well balanced bass, phasing sequences and an irresistible, almost tribal rhythm structure. CLR083 is one of those releases that characterises the direction the label has taken over the last years and is equally interesting to DJs from all kinds of stylistic branches of the scene.
