We are happy and proud to present „The Trentemøller Chronicles“.This new double album is not a new studio album, but an overview of Trentemøller‘s impressive body of work. The Trentemøller Chronicles include Anders‘ personal selection of his best songs and remixes, which have only been available on vinyl or on compilations, as well as some new and exclusive songs. But the fantastic Trentemøller mix on CD1 and the fine selection of remixes on CD2 make this release a great double album in its own right for extraordinary listening pleasure. It‘s almost exactly one year since Anders Trentemøller‘s debut album „The Last Resort“ (on Poker Flat) took the hearts of music lovers worldwide by storm. At that moment in time the Danish producer had built his outstanding reputation on many huge dancefloor hits such as „Rykketid“, „Polar Shift“ and „Sunstroke“. Seemingly out of the blue „The Las Resort“ left all expectations for an electronic dancefloor album far behind and presented a stunning organic, emotional and beautiful masterpiece of cinematic proportions, earning a wealth of rave reviews and critics’ awards, as well as „Album Of The Year“ plaudits in many music magazines. „Trentemøller is not only a dance floor genius, but a musical mastermind in the broader sense. Killer release!“

SHORT INFO:
In May, fans were treated to the first new music from Trentemøller since 2022. A new single, "A Different Light," showcased a stunning blend of prismatic space rock and folk. For anyone wondering if it foreshadowed the release of a full-length, Dreamweaver will drop in September, on Friday the 13th.
Featuring 10 tracks that traverse Trentemøller's many musical strengths, Dreamweaver also represents an obvious artistic leap, treading new ground while retaining the overall plot. Tracks featuring vocals come courtesy of of Iceland's Disa, who has been in Trentemøller's fold since the Memoria tour.
Dreamweaver's nylon string-led opening track, and first single from the album, "A Different Light," contains many of Trentemøller's trademarks: exploring dichotomies, musical shadowplay, Nordic frigidity, and warm waves. It opens the door for the steady, hypnotic "Nightfall," with its tetherless vocal, wistful guitars, and early morning desert chill. The third track in the opening trifecta, "Dreamweavers" finds its footing with a percussive soft trot, which starts after what feels like a shortwave radio scan in search of the right chords, eventually dialing in a weightless voice. Ostensibly keeping a ruminative pace with the previous two tracks, the song and, by extension, album soon opens up as the rest of the elements drop into place with a grand, luxurious burst.
Dreamweaver is about to enter its next phase. With the hatch blown off of the portal, the noisy "I Give My Tears," driven by its glissed and fuzzy bass line, pours into the void. It's followed by its sibling, the most chaotic track on Dreamweaver, "Behind My Eyes." Arriving as a piece of noise rock pandemonium, "Behind My Eyes," can't be contained in its plush vault. A whip-crack snare and convulsing guitars smash against each other in the song's verse chamber. The tension builds, as the particles collide, pushing past the point of critical mass, kicking off the chain reaction which is the chorus. At times it harkens back to the proto-gaze tracks that gave birth to dream pop, at others it newly defines what that is. There's no time to contemplate it, though, as the song disintegrates in a microphonic feedback instant.
A respite follows with the somnambulistic pair of "Hollow" and "Empty Beaches." Then, a moment of intensity returns as the soaring textures and tribal drum bursts of "In A Storm" take control, before being taken out with the ambient slo-core of "Winter's Ghost" and "Closure." This diptych wraps up an album which certainly feels on-script for Trentemøller, but is also much more psychedelic than previous offerings.
Dreamweaver will be released on Trentemøller's own In My Room label. It is an exceedingly immersive experience, bound to release any dormant hallucinations you may be harboring.

Trentemøller - Miss You (Lulu Rouge Feat. Asger Baden Remix)
After the huge success of his albums ‚The Last Resort‘ and ,The Trentemøller Chronicles‘, Trentemøller graces the Audiomatique catalogue
once again, featuring four timeless and accomplished remixes of his haunting track, ‚Miss You.‘ The original is a deeply musical study showing off Trentemøller’s unique composition skills, and for this release he presents a cut up re-rub full of classic texture and warmth. One of two more club friendly remixes on the release, his remix adds sharp hi-hats and even more hypnotic layers of melodies, creating an energetic track which sits in the ever-smoky borders between techno, house and electronica. Climbing up from deep within his unique and unmistakable river of sound, Scape‘s legendary producer Pole is next to provide a remix. Bass heavy dub-steps close around a tripped out abstraction of the original theme, allowing 7 minutes of glorious analogue experimentation to unfold. A rich cloud of defined and considered noise surfaces to very meniscus of the track, before sinking away back into the depths... One of Germany‘s longest serving figures in Techno, Pascal F.E.O.S, chooses to remain true to the musicality of the original with his drifting techno slow burner. The remix introduces melody as its central focus, but is still underpinned by the Level Non Zero figurehead‘s tough but reduced rhythm track, that drives persistently, without distorting one‘s view of the stirring melodic happenings. Finally two talented musicians from Copenhagen‘s electronic underground, Lulu Rouge and Asger Baden, take the stirring beauty of the original‘s piano melody and create a filmic, beatless interpretation. Gentle washes of warm strings and atmospheres glide subtly through the pale ether of this wonderfully restrained

Although their number of collaborations is small, the chemistry between Berlin trio Afrilounge and Stuttgart's own Patrick Chardronnet is an undeniable part of the Poker Flat story. The Chardronnet vs. Afrilounge production collaboration arrived with a bang in 2005 with the squelchy tech house jam "Just For A Little Peek"; it turned into a breakout hit of the Poker Flat Four Compilation, and became the project's production calling card, brimming with suspense and irresistible melodies.
Following that same year came the group's EP Phonix, which honed in on the budding sound of funky minimal house with an electro influence, and intricate, sample-driven rhythm patterns. Years later in 2009, with demand showing no sign of waning, "Just For A Little Peek" finally earned a dedicated EP re-release, enhanced by new remixes from Gabriel Ananda and Sarah Goldfarb. Now on Audiomatique Recordings, the studio magic of Chardronnet vs. Afrilounge returns for the stunning collection of new tracks that makes up "What About Us". The title track reveals a deeper and more contemplative mood for 2014, with a pensive piano loop, a dark-toned deep house swing, and a vocal sample that speaks to the experiences of the disenfranchised. Chris Lattner's remix of the same provides a punchier and more dramatic rhythm track for maximum impact and a more urgent effect. B-side production "Morning Poem" harnesses the power spoken dialogue again, with a big filter of distortion, and wispy, whirring deep tech sounds tha testablish a late night feel.

Tiger Stripes - Glorified (Rodriguez Jr. Remix)
Swedish phenomenon Tiger Stripes returns to Audiomatique with a funky little number indeed. Going by the name of ‚Glorified‘, this return to the fore (and of course the dancefloor) is a fitting addition to the Audiomatique
catalog, ever growing and pushing cutting-edge, techy house and techno. ‚Glorified‘ opens with a tight swinging groove, an easy going vibe and a light and airy positive vibe. As we get quickly drawn into Mr.Stripes‘ snaking arrangement, an uplifting speech arrives from a preacher from the House of Jack! Smooth organs and high-end production values wrap up this unavoidable winner. Acclaimed producer Rodriguez Junior lends his hand to remix ‚Glorified‘ and really delivers a stellar treatment - drawing out the introduction and adding tension. Pushing drums lead a pitching, super-stereo chord pattern as the filters open and evolved into an early morning anthem.

Wehbba - Balance
We welcome a newcomer to the Audiomatique roster as talented Brazilian producer Wehbba comes to the fore with the glorious ‚3Days'.
Wehbba has explored many zones of the tech-house genre and now brings his expertly polished beats to Steve Bugs pioneering label. The groovy, sample-laden beats of ‚3Days' are a tribute to that very special 60s festival of fun and music. Now some 40 years on we are still finding ways to escape to other zones and Wehbba's solid grooves allow us to do just that!
Prolific minimal/techno producer Mihalis Safras engineers a crafty remix on the flip side, strengthening the groove further with dramatic snare shots and heavy bass surges. Trip-out FX and careful use of the sample material make this a reliably heavyweight tech-house journey.
As another solid stamp on the B side, ‚Balance' shimmers and shakes across the audio spectrum, showing off Wehbba's production skills once again. Smooth, immediate and functional, its spacey beats fuse with classic rhodes chords in a modern-deep house jam.

Tiger Stripes - How We Feel
Cult Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Tiger Stripes arrives on Audiomatique with this incredible new three track EP. A monstrous lesson in modern minimalism, ‚AH-64‘ pumps with a dark yet funky inner power that‘s felt even stronger after the sinister string laden break. Slow building and totally infectious this trippy late-nighter is built for the big rooms and will have you reaching for the lasers in no time. On a slightly lighter tip, ‚How We Feel‘ warms us with funky, energetic percussion in a modern and positive tech-house jam. With smooth future house keys and plenty of details it‘s a straight forward floor burner. ‚Back To Detroit City‘ takes us right there, deep, dubbed and melodic this retrospective workout features delicate melodies laden above yet more warm, powerful and driving beats. Continuing, elongating and drifting, it‘s a perfect conclusion to the EP.

Maetrik - Glider
Maetrik has enjoyed some hot releases of late, with heavy work released on Dumb- Unit, Mothership and Resopal Schallware. Now this big talent comes again on Audiomatique with a three track arsenal of audiomind games. ‚Marinda‘, featuring Sabb, throws us right into the current Maetrik sound with freaky vocal lines and solid nu-house vibes underpinning the hot‘n‘dirty bassline! Expertly executed, with full spectrum clarity as we can always expect from Maetrik, its a versatile track that melts deep house, techno and chicago booty action into one smooth ride! On the B side the deeper ‚Kemik‘ chugs along with sub-sonic freakiness and more classically rooted house references. One for those special, hot moments where tension and drama are key... its a big track for the morning floors! ‚Glider‘ seals the deal then, with rubbery bass energy and super funky grooves forming from a shifting, shimmering, tougher house pump. Again primed for the early morning, or indeed the peak time, as if we needed more confirmation of Maetrik‘s club mastermind.. here it is!

Tigerskin - Carlswood
Tigerskin aka Alex Kruger is certainly one of the most prolific artists releasing electronic music these days. His Tigerskin alias has released music on a plethora of respected platforms, far and wide across the spectrum of electronic music labels. Now we happily welcome him to Audiomatique, Steve Bug's imprint designed to support the techier, more intense end of his eclectic love of house and techno.
Lead cut 'Everybody Likes Ollie' whirls and skips across a liquid platinum backdrop of silky smooth grace and ecstatic wonder. Part tough pumping house, part disco, part future techno, its an anthemic track that throws the listener right in the middle of an epic, mind-blowing main event! Uplifting spaced-out synths sing and climb, augmented by funky percussion patterns and classic strings stabs. Pure quality, as if we expected anything less from this producer!
On the B-Side the longer and more tripped 'Supersonic' comes on strong like a techno classic. Bubbling and freaking in the background with off-kilter FX, and building slowly as a number of momentous synth elements mark its incline, its a building monster of the highest order.

Maetrik - Herb House
Maetrik heads up the next Audiomatique 12‘‘ with the stunning ‚Underrate Dis EP‘. Well known for his great work on labels like Mothership or Dumb Unit the man from Valencia continues to grow from strength to strength with this storming three tracker. Melting house, techno and sinister, super funky elements into a truly unique and unmissable package, there‘s sheer talent on display in unearthly amounts! Filling up the A side like a casually swung monster, ‚Relax‘ has all the qualities of a recording that actually makes you do the opposite - this cut urges you to party! Brooding, slow building and stone cold cool, the on-going narrative and freaky vocal motif get right inside your consciousness, literally dragging the dance out from inside. Carrying on that forward moving tip we encounter ‚Purr Baby‘ - a real mind melting slab of funk that sums up the magic of Maetrik‘s sound with tripped out synth warbles, rolling, intricate grooves and dramatic, unforgettable builds. Finally ‚Herb House‘ completes the package, and what a finale it is too! Heavy beats and deep swaying synth atmospheres revolve this one around a delicious hook constructed of sensual vocal snippets and rasping horns. Another prime time excursion from the up and coming Maetrik.

Adultnapper - White Fingers Black Hair
NYC‘s Adultnapper has built a reputation for himself that not only commands respect for his highly evolved production skills, but also for his unique musical visions that steer him down his own unique path. Not interested in following the current pop-trends, Adultnapper turns in a freaky two tracker using a sharp, modular and timeless electronic sound palette. ‚Almost Nothing‘ is a complex and reduced spacer that features wonderfully processed drums and endless tweaked out studio trickery. Haunting smatterings of melody, synth texture and paranoid-funky vocals drop in and out of the mix as this deep acidic groover charms you from the inside. Poker Flat regular Patrick Chardronnet provides a wicked remix that begins along the same reduced, textural tip as the original, yet builds into a breathtaking organ led harmonic climax. Dramatic, uplifting and main-room friendly Chardronnet‘s remix opens up the spectrum once again as Audiomatique continues to surprise. ‚White Fingers Black Hair‘ is the B side jam from Adultnapper. A skipping, similarly complex and meandering groove is jacked up with some dirty hats and a playful synth theme that revolves around the track, amongst building strings and gated snares as its freaky climax is unveiled. Super, off the wall stuff from NYC‘s chief mindwaper himself!

Stimming - Seepferdchen
Hamburg‘s very own Stimming arrives on the hospitable shores of a freshly cut Audiomatique with the wonderful ‚Buxton Pipes‘ EP. With releases on Diynamic, Freerange, Terminal M and Liebe*Detail Martin Stimming‘s carreer was boosted by the underground hit „Una Pena“ last year and peaked in his debut album ‚Refl ections‘ earlier this year. ‚Buxton Pipes‘, the lead track on the new EP, is a beautifully reduced, gentle roller that combines textural, shifting fi ltered percussion, phasing, effected melodies and a rich sub-room sound design that confi rms Stimming‘s talents at working those subliminal zones. Dainty, pretty and yet totally punchy at the right volumes, its a genuine slice of ultra modern micro-post-minimal- house. Continuing the trippy, time-melting vibe perfectly, ‚Kakusei‘ arrives with its pushing array of softened percussion and carefully extended spooky breakdowns. Sliding and squelching through 7 minutes of prime tracky workout territory its another stellar addition to the record. Finally the skipping ‚Seepferdchen‘ throws a spanner in the otherwise smooth grooves with delicately jacked drum patterns and controlled sub-bassline throwdowns. Super funky, ultimately reduced and sample-heavy it‘ll make those afterhours carry-ons all the more delicious. Simply superb work from Stimming on Audiomatique.

Patrick Chardronnet - Dropout
Already a mainstay in the scene with admired releases on brother label Poker Flat, and of course Connaisseur, Patrick Chardronnet returns with a wonderful 2 track EP on Audiomatique. A delightfully trippy, post-minimal adventure, ‚Piper‘ raises the brow for Chardronnet, dropping the big room synths this time in favour of a very organic, low-slung addictive groove. Sparse, tricky percussion underpins the headsdown late night vibe, as a drifting ensemble of mystic vocals and haunting horns unfolds over 11 minutes. Enchanting, mesmeric and deeply spaced, this reduced-percussive foray explores Chardronnet‘s more hypnotic side... a priceless cut of of hybrid house from a modern master. On the B side the driving, textural chimes of ‚Dropout‘ ensnare the listener into another beautiful and mysterious world. Solid-state, bass-led percussion and crisply-cut percussive fx remain subdued whilst an epic, swirling synth landscape weaves its dreamy tale. Suggesting moments of real drama, yet all the while maintaining an addictive, slow burning vibe, its a an amazing journey into this producer‘s remarkable, inimitable sonic world.

Adultnapper - One Room (Gregor Tresher Remix)
Fresh from his own stunning Audiomatique 2.0 mix, NYC‘s leader in hi-tech mindplay, Adultnapper, brings us more of his dark and addictive electronic funk! Two more brooding cuts await in the shifting shapes of ‚Madeleine‘ and ‚One Room‘, alongside a pushing, bouncing remix from Germany‘s own Gregor Tresher. Having already featured as a sneak preview on his own 2.0 mix, and teasingly mixed together on Steve Bug‘s Bugnology 3, the full version of ‚Madeleine‘ is now available. Its a cooly focused, dark, yet somehow sweet grind of the sort only Brooklyn‘s master of the black arts is capable. A tough percussive house grind slowly gives way to twisting wires and electro-acoustic energy as a strangely catchy theme is constructed from spooky broken stings and ghostly junked pianos - freaky yet decidedly fresh... With a little more light creeping in through the windows, ‚One Room‘ illustrates perfectly those special daybreak moments, where night stretches its rested limbs and rubs its tired eyes,
slowly morphing into day. The mode is continuation here, as if Adultnapper has captured us at his own special after party, and this is the soundtrack. Its a complex, jacked and blissfully melodic jam that is indeed versatile, but cries out to be played at sunrise! Gregor Tresher has risen to notoriety of late thanks to his impeccable song-writing and arrangement skills set alongside big-room club mechanics. Releasing hits like ‚A Thousand Nights‘ on Great Stuff or ‚Panchakarma‘ alongside Monika Kruse under their GTMK guise on Intacto, the man simply knows how to work it! His remix of ‚One Room‘ holds nothing back, and transforms the original‘s gentler sentiments into a peak time, bouncing techno treat. Skipping basslines and delayed micro-melodies surround us in a wave of unmissable energy.

Umek - Dialogue Occurs
The prolific DJ, producer and lord of the Slovenian undergound, Umek has been a long standing figure on the international Techno scene and produced countless EPs and remixes since his production debut over a decade ago. Now, freshly primed for action in today‘s high-tech club culture, Umek brings us three exclusive tracks full of funk, attitude and substance! The title track, ‚Intense Emotion‘ is an energetic, bouncing bomb that relies on sharp synth stabs to flavour an already delicious concoction of tight beats and cooly refined basslines. The wandering synths fill the spectrum and really lift things off as the track picks up speed, throwing us toward the pushing climax. With a much dryer, minimal approach, ‚Take A Look‘ burns brightly at the other end of the sonic spectrum, with its careful fills, effects and tripped out bending synth mayhem. Its a killer track for the more demented dancers out there, and shows how Umek‘s unique understanding of the dancefloor extends to all corridors of the four-tothe-
floor genre! ‚Dialogue Occurs‘ is a tough, skipping techy cut that rolls from floor to ceiling with bass heavy electronic action. Paranoid, bending and bleeping hooks combine with the busy groove to create a pumping, pushing party track that is as cruel as it is kind! Stephan Hinz - Bacala (Adultnapper Remix)
After some very well received releases for the likes of Renaissance and Kickboxer records, Stephan Hinz, who has also turned out some hot tracks alongside Martin Eyerer, presents ‚Bacala‘. Its a cheekily warped excursion into Hinz‘s deep and melancholic dancefloor world, spurred on by a great theme melody, as if you found yourself in the middle of a medieval rave after a long and victorious battle! Tight, familiar percussion works the groove, building towards a dramatic break which introduces more layers of synthesised wonder! Check this in the main room for maximum effect. Audiomatique key player Adultnapper‘s remix comes on strong, with a tougher drive and a slightly more freaked out vibe. Trademark hissing percussion works over a finely tuned minimal groove, eventually allowing that haunting melody to show its colours. Designed for the more freaky floors, yet still focused on melody and progression, its another great example of Adultnapper‘s remixing skills.

The Viewers - Streethorn (Ben Watt Edit)
Following the recent and astonishing ‚Audiomatique 2.0‘ mixed by N.Y.C‘s Audultnapper, we present one more helping of glistening fresh house and techno, in the shape of remixes by Samuel L Session and Ben Watt. Joel Mull‘s ‚Red Light of Dawn‘, featured on the ‚Audiomatique 2.1‘, is remixed here by the insatiable and constantly evolving might of Samuel L Session. SLS turns in two peak time, driving techno tools, overloaded with power and energy throughout. Tightly compressed pumping beats throb and skip, building satisfying through every pass of his trademark fills and FX. ‚The Drums‘ holds things steady, keeping things moving and providing DJs with an unmissable percussive workout. ‚The Melody‘ mix fills the room with swirling, emotive synth melodies that will appeal to the lovers of more uplifting sentiments, whilst keeping the rest of track firmly grounded in techno. London based Ben Watt‘s Buzzin‘ Fly label is amongst the most highly regarded platforms for new and exciting music today. His edit of

RE-RELEASE! No one can say they didn’t see these two brats coming! Justice, who’s name the world (well at least that part of the world that loves to dance) chants with emotion and whose first album is awaited with bated breath ever since the French duo revolutionised dancefloors with two radically different hits. It comes as no surprise that «†», the first album by Justice, is a fantastic treat for the ears and for the feet. A kind of musical opera marked with religious and baroque symbols, where the melodies are ripped to shreds by the beats, where electro teaches rock a lesson and where pop gets a botox injection.

Release Notes:
It’s rare that a certain sound is entirely an artist’s own. Although undeniably a stew of impeccable influences – from blues to folk to Latin to dusty funk, soul and hip-hop – one cannot hear a Tommy Guerrero song without immediately recognising it as his - and his only.
The cult skater from San Francisco is globally renowned as one of the original members of the legendary “Bones Brigade” team. And as an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his laid-back soul is beloved by all who’ve basked in its blissful glow.
There’s something elemental about this music that really stirs the soul. Strikingly beautiful and instantly addictive, it’s a kind of funk-fuelled, melody-driven, groove-based magic. There’s a serenity and heart in the playing that radiates warmth and splendour, as if crafted for endless sunsets. His albums that surfaced on Mo Wax at the turn of the century have been treasured since their release and it’s two of his most vital LPs that we’re honoured to reintroduce.
The originals were quietly pressed on to a single piece of vinyl so we’ve worked closely with Tommy this year to bring you these fresh, limited editions. They have been lovingly remastered, cut nice and loud on to heavyweight double vinyl and presented in deluxe gatefold jackets.
Soul Food Taqueria continued Guerrero’s guitar soul but represented a step forward with its polished production and greater complexity of instrumentation. Denied the promotion it deserved upon release, it flew under the radar. It is now the most wanted record of his wondrous back catalogue.
Guerrero’s atmospheric touch and subtle guitar provide lush, glimmering pieces of musical texture. Within his spacious compositions, uniquely arranged instruments flourish alongside each other to create a languid soundtrack for halcyon days.
As ever, the diversity on display is beguiling. From bossa nova, samba and cumbia rhythms to understated folk, funk and soul grooves, this is another exotic set of mellow gold; perfectly represented by ESPO’s memorable artwork. Furthermore, the title’s hybridity reflects the intoxicating sweep of stylistic flavours served up, reminding us that, however tricky it is to categorise Guerrero’s special blend, it’s always a pleasure to indulge in something so creative and adventurous.
Dubby, bass-heavy instrumentals give way to moody folk-soul – witness “It Gets Heavy”, featuring melancholic vocals from Gresham Taylor – whilst “Thank You MK” is a gentle ode to the tropics, featuring ethereal instrumentation, bright bass and warm, jazzy guitars. The second half in particular contains a number of stunning ambient tracks – check “Lost Unfound”, “Another Brother Gone” and “Broken Blood” - built around minimalist, laid-back grooves and detailed guitar orchestrations which wouldn’t be out of place on the latest Jonny Nash release.
Guerrero closes this flawless set with a moment of true beauty. Restrained and graceful, “Falling Awake” is a pared back piece containing meditative guitar melodies set against melancholic piano arrangements. It brings proceedings to the most peaceful close. Seductively good, it reminds you just how great simplicity can sound.

My studio is my shelter, I feel comfortable there, surrounded by wonderful inspiring machines. A small cosy room where ideas emerge, mature, morph, and solidify into their final shape. 'Studio' is the result of spending time in that space. The album's intention is simple: Presenting a beautiful personal musical journey. The creative process in itself matters to me, the interaction with my instruments, the accidental discoveries, the successful execution of a vision and anything in between.
Most of the tracks on this album got revised countless times, and then even more, once I knew in which context and order I wanted to arrange them. I have been living with my music for months now, listening, thinking, changing, diving deeper and deeper into each piece.
I love albums, they are a beautiful long-form format where each part has its place, a journey from the start till the end. Each piece has its own story, its own flavour and history.
Some of them have been with me since a while already. There is material which I created years ago for installations and music derived from previous audiovisual works, all completely ripped apart and rearranged multiple times. During their creation my pieces often turn into something completely different, they repeatedly shift from one state to another until they become solid. What I consider a core element at the beginning might be later discarded completely, and a little detail in the background might become the essence.
Many explorations ended in the trash bin before the results had a chance to be part of 'Studio'. Things did not fall into place, did not feel right.
Other compositions had to fill the void instead, some created quickly in a rush of inspiration, some slowly, shy, questioning their significance. This album did not come into existence in a hurry, it took as long as it needed. I used the time to walk around my creations, to listen to them from the distance, physically, mentally, with friends, in all kinds of different contexts. I tried to understand what I just did. I started to see patterns, hidden motifs, things that were buried in between too many layers of sound. What is essential? What is ornament? I reduced, rearranged, added again.
The closer I got to the final state of 'Studio' the more clarity I found. The inherent doubts and the nagging voices from the inside got more quiet, and a sense of achievement started to manifest itself. More and more details just fell into place. And now it is done. After making electronic music since almost thirty years I don't care anymore about genres, about how to label things. It is music, my own personal music, and that's it. Call it electronica if you wish.
Process Notes
The music on this album has been constructed in Ableton Live. Most of the sounds have been created with my collection of beloved hardware synthesisers and effects, often further processed until something completely different did emerge. Sometimes I spend days in the studio just recording sounds or creating new presets, without already having a composition in mind. A few selected musical instruments contributed significantly to the palette of this album; a New England Digital Synclavier II, which also served as inspiration for the artwork, a Sequential Prophet VS, which is present on all Monolake albums since 1996, a Yamaha SY77, Linn Drum, and the Oberheim Xpander. And then there is Operator in Ableton Live, which I developed in 2004 and still love to use, and a lot of the other effects and instruments in the software. And of course my Granulator III instrument, and the PitchLoop89 audio effect. The final sonic world is often the result of radical processing of these elements, via filtering, pitch shifting, time stretching and other types of processing, both in Live and with my hardware. The good old Alesis Quadraverb deserves an honorary mention here, so does the AMS RMX 16.
Artwork
The cover combines a few complex elements. A composition of various lichen photographs, and a computational noise field that cuts rivers into the structure, where the inner artwork of the album shines through: The inside of the CD package and the gatefold vinyl cover shows a non-existing musical instrument, based on the user interface of the Synclavier II. I've always been fond of its futuristic button matrix with red LEDs, which conjures a sense of nostalgia for early computer systems. But I wanted more than just a photograph of it. Instead, I created a collage that not only consists of its existing controls but also integrated additional features it never possessed, though it might have in a subsequent iteration. In essence, I crafted a vision of a future that never materialized.
Geeky detail: When a Synclavier II is turned on, and the connected mainframe computer did not boot yet, the LEDs in the buttons light up in random patterns. The imaginary version of it does the same.

Territory - NO Sales to Japan
Ryo Fukui's 1976 highly sought-after jazz masterpiece SCENERY in a Deluxe Limited Edition 2018 Reissue digipack CD
We Release Jazz (WRWTFWW Records' new sister-label) is proud to present its first release, the official reissue of Ryo Fukui's highly sought-after masterpiece Scenery (1976), sourced from the original masters and available on digipack CD.
Unquestionably one of the most important Japanese jazz albums ever recorded, Scenery reveals Ryo Fukui as a miraculously brilliant self-taught pianist fusing modal, bop, and cool jazz influences for a very personal, dexterous and game-changing take on classic standards made famous by Bing Crosby and John Coltrane among others. From "It Could Happen To You" and its serene and calm intro which magically flows into a jubilant and upbeat piece, to the out-of-this-world piano solo of "Early Summer", or the incredible teamwork of "Autumn Leaves" where Fukui leads Satoshi Denpo (bass) and Yoshinori Fukui (drums) into groove heaven, every single note on the album oozes precision, confidence and flair and every single section slides seamlessly into one another, creating a supreme and elegant blend of jazz. Often compared to McCoy Tyner or Bill Evans, Ryo Fukui was a genius in his own right, a true master of his craft whose perfectionism gave birth to some of the greatest music ever recorded. Scenery is his magnum opus and an absolute must-have.
The Hokkaido wizard-pianist followed Scenery with the soulful gem Mellow Dream (also available on We Release Jazz) in 1977. He then focused on improving his live skills, often performing at Sapporo's Slowboat Jazz Club (which he co-founded with his wife Yasuko Fukui) and releasing 2 live albums. Ryo Fukui sadly passed away in March 2016, leaving behind a legacy of works that is sure to captivate jazz lovers for generations to come.

For an aesthetic of (dis)obedience. The impressions Richard Siegal and his company Ballet of Difference gathered on a trip to Japan in September 2022 now find their way into a full-length dance evening. Siegal and his team had set off for Tokyo to learn the practice of Shuudan Koudou, also known as "Japanese Precision Walking". The strictly synchronised group choreographies are astonishing in their radical stringency and have become a secret YouTube hit, not least because of their peculiar subtle humour. Siegal recognises in the extreme disciplining of the bodies an analogy to the training practice of classical ballet. In the mutual exchange of these movement cultures, questions are raised about individual and collective thinking, about personal decision-making power and social responsibility. For this extraordinary project, Richard Siegal has invited a special guest: Nazareth Panadero, long-time companion of Pina Bausch, who has long since become an icon of Wuppertal dance theatre and will be on stage with the BoD ensemble.
The production BALLET OF (DIS)OBEDIENCE is sponsored by Goethe Institut, with the kind support of Sissel GmbH.

On the other hand, hybrid 3 is inspired by Noh Play - Japanese performances and deals with the refusal of rules musically, hybrid three continues the two previous albums and weaves both rhythmic and beatless musical pieces into a holistic work.
The idea for me has always been that these albums are not only perceived as individual tracks, but as a whole piece, which is why I find the possibility of experiencing and listening to these albums in the right order and as a whole particularly important. For me, the pieces are not only closely related to the ballet that was created for them, but also function as individual pieces as pure, musical pieces and mark a new quality for me, which is very strongly focussed on producing electronic sounds and structures in such a way that they can develop a sculptural quality.

INFO
Cybotron has re-emerged in our contemporary cybercultural age when artifactual futures begin a transition into a new era of
"Meta".
By combining their knowledge of philosophy, science fiction, and mechanical engineering, at a time when electronic instrument
companies were only just beginning to distribute their products to the masses, two prosumer audio technicians named Juan
Atkins and Rik Davis were able to re-engineer Cybotron – a combination of the words “Cyborg” and “Cyclotron” (an atomic
particle accelerator) – to be used as a home studio performance music that would change the course of independently produced
and distributed electronic music.
Dissolving the boundary between singer, songwriter, and producer, Juan Atkins named Cybotron’s future forward funkadelic
sound “techno” in reference to Alvin Toler’s concept of unlikely “techno rebels” against technocracy. Techno is music that
sounds like technology, and its purpose was to help society survive our collision with a universally felt “future shock” by inserting
an audio virus into the cultural matrix.
Techno’s blueprint spread across the Detroit-Berlin Axis between Metroplex and Tresor. As human society began its transition
from a post-industrial to an information-based market economy, Cybotron enabled a thorough system override of the human
senses towards a tangible man-machine hybridity and showed the world how to channel their emotions and imaginations into
new sound technologies and create new ‘sonic’ spatialities where listeners can transport themselves out of the physical world
into the future. The cover of their debut album Enter (1983) transmitted a fragmented view of a body in motion being digitized
mid-stride, dissolving physical and virtual reality into sonic fiction.
Today, the man-machine hybridity of Cybotron is still the truest form of techno, coevolving in conversation with the technological music they created and inspired. The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of
the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus. Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500
formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno
music is self-aware. Cybotron processes dance music tropes spawned from its very own blueprint with a meta-tactical precision
out of sync with our current rave new world.
Cybotron’s return demonstrates a studied engagement with what techno was and should be with a peerless update of Juan
Atkins’ initial inventive idea of do-it-yourself electrically reengineered music xeroxed onto both sides of the 12” – uploaded
directly into the alleys of your mind.

Release Notes:
Steve Leach's Balearic beach-funk beast Ocean Potion, recorded with the Crystal Grass Orchestra is an absolutely ace, Ned Doheny-adjacent funky AOR / blue-eyed soul BBQ classic from 1976.
Who is Steve Leach, you ask? None other than Seasick Steve in a previous life! A French-only release on Philips, it's a hugely immediate, pop-funk firecracker. It features a wonderfully lush, full orchestral sound throughout, underpinning Steve's gorgeous voice and an army of brilliant backing vocalists.
The supporting cast is phenomenal and is arguably the salient reason this is such a fantastic record. We're talking legendary players from the French scene (think Arpadys, Voyage, Kongas, CCPP, Giant, Swing Family) such as Don Ray with his arranger-conductor hat on as well as synths, Marc Chantereau on percussion, Slim Pezin on guitar, André Ceccarelli on drums, Christian Padovan on bass and Pierre Halation on flute.
With these snakes behind the scenes, it remains a mystery how Ocean Potion is so relatively unknown. Hopefully, this long overdue reissue rectifies this and puts a stop to people dropping $200 on it.
Triumphant, horn-forward opener "The Light Of The Mind" has that uniquely Ned Doheny fidgety funk feel with a fantastically irresistible chorus and great harmonies. Just magic. The insouciant, swaggering "Hey! Hey! What You Doin To Me" is straight up white-hot feel-good funk with by turns sweeping and stabbing strings and a neck-snapping break. Crucial. Coming off like something off The Beach Boy's Surf's Up or Holland (including a sneaky "reason to live" reference that surely nods to "The Trader") is the brilliantly ominous, driving wall of sound of "Take Strength". Cavernous drums, urgent strings and a staggeringly good vocal performance make this a real highlight amongst an album of highlights. The blissful folk-funk of "The Lady Of The Sea" is a real naked heartbreaker, melancholic vibes and a beautiful flute line complementing each other perfectly. Side A closes out with "All My Life", a groovy island-funk white-reggae-tinged lilter which just about lands the right side of acceptable.
Side B opens with the gorgeous "You're The Only One Girl" before the propulsive Philly soul of "At Least We Got Love" elegantly glides into focus. Pulsing beats and piano working with that irresistible orchestra of grass. Glacial ballad "All Love's Children" has a deep New Orleans soul feel that truly soars whilst the breezy "Get Out In The Sun" owes a debt to "Crocodile Rock". It's pure pop for now people and wouldn't have been out of place on a late 70s Nick Lowe effort. Deep late-period Beach Boys gem "Golden Hues" is another heavy melancholic down lifter that really beguiles before the real reason you're all here. Pastoral closer "I Meditate Each Day" is just beautiful, and likely the reason this reissue is giving you that special feeling. Another gorgeous flute-led, folk-funk groover, it featured in a memorable mix from the Creme2laCreme crew (Raphael Top-Secret, Jerome Qpchan and Antoine Kogut) live on Red Light Radio over a decade ago and has been top of many heads' wants list never since. Just mellow out.
As ever, the audio for Ocean Potion has been carefully remastered by Be With regular Simon Francis, ensuring it sounds better than ever. Cicely Balston's expert skills have made sure nothing is lost in the cut whilst the records have been pressed to the highest possible standard at Record Industry in Holland. The original, iconic sleeve featuring a topless Steve reclining next to his piano on a flatbed truck on the beach (of course?!) has been restored here at Be With HQ as the finishing touch to this long overdue re-issue.

It's the culmination of what has been a roller coaster debut year: the eponymous debut album by the phenomenal Vienna duo HVOB is a lesson in how versatile, intelligent and creative electronic music can be. It's been just twelve months since the first snippets appeared on Soundcloud, during which time the young electronic duo HVOB (short for Her Voice over Boys) have been causing a real stir throughout Europe: "… this is what deep house sound should sound like. Pure love …" (hmwl.org, Sweden), "… sure to be spoken about …" (delicieuse-musique.com, France), "More please, and soon!" (thegap.at, Austria), "… sleek and beautifully crafted beats …" (electronicbeats.net, Germany). HVOB have been a hit with the most influential music blogs and with the public: acclaimed appearances at the likes of Germany's MELT! Festival, number 4 in the Beatport Deep House charts with their debut EP "Dogs", number 10 in the Top Live Acts of the Year and number 11 in the Best Singles of 2012 in DE:BUG's readers' poll. At the end of 2012, leading Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab used HVOB's music for the soundtrack of his collection video. Vienna-born Anna Müller (composition, production, vocals) and Paul Wallner (composition and final production) are kicking off the second year of their collaborative project with another release, only this time with more than just tantalising snippets: their eagerly anticipated debut LP, "HVOB", released March 8, contains twelve tracks that showcase the duo's distinctive sound - intelligent and sophisticated, emotive and melodic. The opening track "Hold Your Horses" could be a signature tune for HVOB: organic beats, soft piano sounds and Anna Müller's stunning voice give way to compelling deep house. Further highlights of the album: scheduled for release in February, the single "Jack" with its emotive beats, the complex electronic ballad "Fog Machine", and "Always Like This", HVOB's interpretation of the track by British indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club. HVOB, who on stage perform live and with a drummer, are planning a European tour after the album's release. Venues will include: Paris (as part of Paris Fashion Week), Berlin, Zurich; further information: www.hvob-music.com

SHORT INFO:
Over the past 24 years, Scott Monteith's Deadbeat project has spanned a dizzying array of musical references and genres, exploring everything from left-field reggae to downbeat experiments, purifying drone excursions and ambient noise, extranational percussion workouts, and hypnotic techno and house.
VITAL SALES POINTS:
In the last 24 years Scott Monteith's Deadbeat project has covered a dizzying array of musical references and genres, exploring everything from from left field reggae and downbeat experiments, purifying drone and ambient noise excursions, outer-national percussion work outs, and hypnotic techno and house.
On his first solo album in 5 years, Monteith offers up what is perhaps the most powerful, tightly dance floor focused album of his storied carrier, and a soul cleansing, poignant sound track to the fears and hardships of a world gone mad, entitled Kübler-Ross Soliloquies.
The Kübler-Ross model describes the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. A soliloquy is defined as an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud alone by oneself or regardless of any hearers.
Over the album's 8 tracks, Monteith explores each of these stages with a clear eyed focus and confidence that are a testament to his dual role as a kind, smiling musical selector and monkish technological nerd ball of the highest order.

Info
WRWTFWW Records is extremely excited to announce the first ever vinyl release for Pizza Hotline’s brilliant 2022 full-length Level Select, originally only released on cassette and digital. The liquid drum & bass meets Y2K era video gaming aesthetics monster is now available in a limited edition transparent vinyl double LP with a glorious 45rpm cut, p
Entirely written and composed by UK producer Pizza Hotline (apart from "GLACIER ZONE", a collaboration between Pizza Hotline and DJ Total 90), the stellar 8-song album was initially released as a limited cassette in January 2022 and quickly gained cult status - making a full-on vinyl release quite the necessity. It’s here now with the the previously unreleased track "POLYGON DREAMSCAPE" (which sounds as magical as its title) and 45rpm cut for louder, bigger, deeper bass rumbling.
Spellbinding, atmospheric, and beautifully melodic, Level Select is a large scope dreamy adventure of liquid DnB filled with ambient escapades, ethereal jungle, high vibe breaks, and a heavy loving dose of late 90s / early 2000s video game influences. Hypnotic late night hype and pensive chill moods mesh with ease in a cinematic soundscape that re-contextualizes and gives a new life to a beloved music genre - LTJ Bukem, Peshay, the Wipeout OST or Soichi Terada's Ape Escape come to mind, and sounds and soundtracks from the Sony Playstation, the Nintendo 64, and the Sega Saturn resonate from the speakers. It’s all fresh with a subtle nostalgia and so much heart. An instant classic.
Press start.
Points of interests
