Ian Pooley returns to Rekids with Studio A Pt.3 this September. The third and final entry in a three-part release series based on his studio, Ian Pooley’s ‘Studio A Pt. 3’ for Radio Slave’s imprint sees him drop yet another set of bumping, hardware-focussed tracks. Leading the A-side, ‘PSS480’ combines swinging drums, modulated low end, and trippy bleeps for a party-starting house track. ‘SP12 Electric Mistress’ brings flanged-out drums and lush pads together for a wonky yet driving cut. On the flip, ‘Viola’ sees Pooley heading toward heavier territories with rumbling kicks and heaving synths forming a pumping techno track before the ‘303 Version’ of ‘SP12 Electric Mistress’ closes out the EP, introducing tweaked-out acid lines and freaky FX to the original version. Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, remixing for the likes of Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more, as well as being one of the few to be remixed by Daft Punk.

hardware productions. Leading the A-side is the fluttering synths and warped vocal samples of ‘JV Organ & Matrix’, which twists and turns through delightful FX and rumbling bass. ‘Version 2’ of the track follows, contorting elements of the original into a heads-down groover, with washed-out processing and stereo wizardry meeting classic dub techniques. On the flip, ‘Back Up’ keeps it live and direct with hard-hitting, chunky drums and menacing acid lines, with an additional stripped back digital ‘Beats Bass’ version included. Rounding out the 12” is 101202, a dreamy slice of razor-sharp house, with gorgeous, filtered pads drifting in tandem with strung out low end and skippy percussion. House music legend Ian Pooley readies ‘Studio A Pt. 1’, the first of a three release series, for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint this September. Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, as well as remixing for the likes of Daft Punk, Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more. Here though, Pooley arrives on Rekids with his first ever contribution to the label, delivering three direct and grooving house tracks. Leading the release, ‘Basic Juno’ sees modulating synth lines deftly placed around chunky drums accompanied by pulsing basslines and shimmering pads, before ‘Close Your Eyes’ brings a dose of trippy vocals and shuffling percussion amongst interplaying hardware for a punchy start to the B side. ‘303 (2 Bars)’ brings the release to a close with pounding drum machines, meaty acid lines, and blissful leads.

Ian Pooley returns to Pooledmusic with his first solo EP of original material on the label since his 2013 album
‘What I Do’. The intervening period has seen Pooley release another hugely popular EP for Innervisions and launch
Pooledmusic’s techno-focused sister label Montage with a pair of new releases under his tougher Silvershower alias,
while labels including Figure, Rejected and Scenario have been mining his rich back catalogue to re-release some of
his best loved classic productions.
The Turakina EP follows Pooledmusic’s previous two EPs from the label’s extended family, SHOW-B and
Indira Paganotto, in 2014. Whereas 2015’s focus was on the launch of Montage, 2016 welcomes Pooley back to his
main imprint with another three-track 12” that mines the expressive, textured house music that won Pooley a new
generation of fans on his Innervisions releases.
The A-side, Turakina, is a classic Pooley groove, stripped down
to its elements then layered with melodic detail that builds over the course of the track, subtly bringing a sense
of compelling urgency. The B-side finds two versions of the deeper, more emotional Mudou.
The original version is in the same ‘miniature epic’ mold of 2012 hit Compurhythm, conveying the same sense of
dancefloor drama, while the Dub take a lighter touch to tease out even more of its melancholic nature.
The Turakina EP is dedicated to the loving memory of Pooley’s beloved dog Basil, who recently passed away
at 12 years of age.

Ian Pooley makes his debut appearance on Simple to kick start what is shaping up to be a bumper year for the label. German Ian Pooley hails from Mainz but recently found a new home in Berlin. Ian is well known as a remixer and for his own prolific output bridging the gap between techno and house, creating superb tracks such as the massive 'Celtic Cross' and 'Chord Memory' on the Force Inc. Music Works, as well as recording more housier and disco orientated workouts for labels such as John Acquaviva's Definitive Recordings, Effective Records and NRK Sound Division. Ian has also remixed for
Daft Punk, The Cardigans, The Beloved, Green Velvet, Modjo, Nick Holder and many more. Ian has recorded two albums for V2 Records, his debut "Meridian" was a classic late 90s Pooley album, full of tech-house delights and including the massive "What's Your Number" as remixed by Jazzanova and Bob Sinclair. Followed by huge albums .Souveniers' and .Since Then', and most recently .In Other Words' featuring Robert Owens, Tim Fuller and Perry Colo. Most recently he's been busy DJing across the globe, producing new music for the likes of us and producing for artists such as Get Physical's DJ T.Nightscape - A deep, heads down house groove that locks you in with it's lovingly crafted percussion and beautifully bouncy bassline, whilst the wistful, melancholic pads are food for the soul. Ian's experience in production shines throughout the EP, making the tracks as much of a delight on the head phones as they are on a Function One soundsystem. Difference (Jupiter/Eight Mixes) - Intricate percussive rhythms combine with a rubbery bassline and rich poly stabs to set the tone. Strings build and release the tension and a delicate piano riff brings the soul. The evolution of the patterns sees a heady crescendo for the floor. For the .Eight Mix' Ian reworks the stabs and bass-line and pushes out a more straight ahead groove.

A long term collaborator of Pooley, lending rich keyboard work to the legendary producer’s records over the years, Ulf Kleiner is better known outside of electronic music. his best loved classic productions.
The Turakina EP follows Pooledmusic’s previous two EPs from the label’s extended family, SHOW-B and
Indira Paganotto, in 2014. Whereas 2015’s focus was on the launch of Montage, 2016 welcomes Pooley back to his
main imprint with another three-track 12” that mines the expressive, textured house music that won Pooley a new
generation of fans on his Innervisions releases.
The A-side, Turakina, is a classic Pooley groove, stripped down
to its elements then layered with melodic detail that builds over the course of the track, subtly bringing a sense
of compelling urgency. The B-side finds two versions of the deeper, more emotional Mudou.
The original version is in the same ‘miniature epic’ mold of 2012 hit Compurhythm, conveying the same sense of
dancefloor drama, while the Dub take a lighter touch to tease out even more of its melancholic nature.
The Turakina EP is dedicated to the loving memory of Pooley’s beloved dog Basil, who recently passed away
at 12 years of age.

If you've been following the Payfone story over the last 13 years, you'll know that Phil Passera and Jimmy Day's long-running collaborative project has specialised in one-off musical morsels - sublime songs cooked up in cahoots with all manner of guest musicians and vocalists. Never ones to rest on their laurels, Day and Passera have now delivered a full six-track tasting menu in the shape of Lunch, their hotly anticipated debut album.
Recorded over an 18-month period at Passera's Barcelona studio and Day's studio in Brighton, Lunch is an unsurprisingly assured and musically detailed affair that's entirely made up of previously unheard songs. Unlike acid-flecked recent single 'Volt To Volt', which delivered a tweaked take on late 1980s house music, the album's six tracks showcase the trademark sound the duo has been developing since first joining forces 13 years ago.
Trawl back through Passera and Day's high-quality catalogue, which includes outings on Leng, Golf Channel Recordings and Defected as well as their own OTIS imprint, and that distinctive musical recipe becomes clear. Rooted in their love of classic drum machines and their trusty JUNO-60 synthesiser, the Payfone sound combines equal amounts of electronic and organic instrumentation, warm and inviting downtempo and mid-tempo grooves, and pertinent and thoughtful lyrics delivered with panache by an impressive roll call of guest vocalists.
Lunch, then, is a standalone sonic statement - an initially vinyl only album on their own OTIS imprint - that continues this impressive lineage. Recorded over an 18-month period at Passera's Barcelona studio and Day's studio in Brighton, Lunch is an unsurprisingly assured and musically detailed affair that's entirely made up of previously unheard songs. Unlike acid-flecked recent single 'Volt To Volt', which delivered a tweaked take on late 1980s house music, the album's six tracks showcase the trademark sound the duo has been developing since first joining forces 13 years ago.
Trawl back through Passera and Day's high-quality catalogue, which includes outings on Leng, Golf Channel Recordings and Defected as well as their own OTIS imprint, and that distinctive musical recipe becomes clear. Rooted in their love of classic drum machines and their trusty JUNO-60 synthesiser, the Payfone sound combines equal amounts of electronic and organic instrumentation, warm and inviting downtempo and mid-tempo grooves, and pertinent and thoughtful lyrics delivered with panache by an impressive roll call of guest vocalists.
Lunch, then, is a standalone sonic statement - an initially vinyl only album on their own OTIS imprint - that continues this impressive lineage. The Magic Wand label casts another of its sonic spells with an anonymous artist at the helm. It's a knowing blend of many different influences all subtly distilled into a low-key classic. There are elements of yacht rock, Balearic, dub, funk and soul all to be found here. The bassline of 'Crossfire' is slight but funky, the drums sit low in the mix but soon sweep you away on a gentle breeze at sundown and the vocals are effortlessly cool and carefree but really cut through with a quiet charm. Quantic’s vast discography of electronic releases spans two decades, ranging from focused solo productions and intimate collaborations to expansive ensemble projects. Emmaculate & DJ Spen - Step Into A Black Whole

Emmaculate - Boogie On Disco Woman
Heads up, we got a hot premiere on GAMM from Chicago's finest Emmaculate and Basement Boys legend DJ Spen !
The story behind this release goes something like this...
Our buddy and GAMM contributor Coflo spins at a dope house party, drops the A side 'Step Into A Black Whole' and the club literally explodes when the track hits the massive hip hop breakdown (KRS!) and returns and transforms into a jazzy Afrobeat house stomper. It's an +11 min long musical journey going from house to hip hop to Disco-Afrobeat. The GAMM representative in the house "feels it" and asks Coflo who's behind the tune, and after a few months, the connection is made with Emmaculate and DJ Spen to secure the release for GAMM.
A few weeks later, Emmaculate delivers a second track, 'Boogie On Disco Woman', which is a killer Funk/Disco/Soul rework with raw drums, nasty clavinets and soulful female vocals.
This could easily have been the feature track, but lands on the B side this time.
