Occult Vision; a new LP based imprint, offers a space for artists to share a more complete body of their work. We create windows into the deeper, alternative and often more authentic sounds of carefully selected artists. It's rare a producer in the underground house and techno scene has this type of platform and Occult Vision aims to fill the void. Our first album is from one of Frankfurt's finest producers, Frank Heinrich. Known to most as Reboot and sharing what will be his first solo LP since 2016, we have here an intricately crafted collection of music that was brought to life during the lockdown phase of the pandemic. This unique time had a resounding impact on Franks creativity in the studio, leading to a sound that strongly represents his emotions throughout that period. The tracks we have helped to curate for this release are often melancholic, yet hopeful with carefully placed textures and rhythms carrying a stripped back yet emotive energy throughout. This isn't your typical club music; it's more personal and meant as a listening experience. First we're treated to the vinyl version full of everything we loved from the original. A stripped down tech house beat sprinkled with a might vocal hymn and plenty of groove. Beginning his relationship with Cadenza back in 2008, German production wizard Reboot has since frequented the label, his solid tech house soundscapes and innate ability to keep his musical structure moving forward being catalyst to his reputable name. Following the incredible 'Shunyata' album on Cadenza in 2010, Reboot is back on the imprint with the 'Beautiful Parasite' EP, including two remixes from Robert Dietz and Cesar Merveille.
Intense and suitably finickety, Reboot's 'Beautiful Parasite' plays with glitches, sparks and tight wooden percussion patterns to begin. On first glance, it's almost minimal in its confined touches but as a rumbling line of dark bass takes hold, "Beautiful Parasite" switches its identity and takes on a sultry persona. From there the changes come thick and fast with faint strings soaring gently in the background and sporadic cymbal crashes and hand claps creating texture. Reaching its dreamy edge with a warm and melodic mainline, the once stern atmosphere of "Beautiful Parasite" is coated in thick echo, doubled in depth and encased in melody.
First Cadenza comrade to take remix duty is Frankfurt's Robert Dietz. Taking his tribal and percussion heavy signature, Dietz warps "Beautiful Parasite" into a dance killer, enhancing the percussive flow of the original and integrating a rapid bass line that simply can't fail to move. Chopping the melody into stabbing sequences and morphing the bass into an arp'd, electro tinged bomb; "Beautiful Parasite" finds its feet firmly on the dance floor through Robert Dietz's remix. Cesar Merveille shifts the gear up another notch with a gloriously rapid attack for his remix. Chaotic percussion and crunching samples smeared across "Beautiful Parasite's" balmy palette, Cesar injects an exotic and slinky edge.
Lastly, as a digital only bonus, "In The Sky" closes 'Beautiful Parasite' on a fresh note. Introduced with a vocal swoon fit for a diva, "In The Sky" breaks into a contradictory concoction of voltaic beats thereafter. Hissing shakers, plentiful claps and a rubbery bass line collide as the atmosphere moves up and down between subtle builds and breaks. Securing its groove with the epic 'Your Loving Arms' lyrics, "In The Sky" will no doubt cause an elated stomp on dance floors worldwide.

Emptiness isn't a quality you normally associate with electronic dance music. From the crowd on the associate with electronic dance music. From the crowd on the dancefloor to the weight of the bass, it's all about fullness, volume, density.Reboot turns that opposition on its head with his debut album, Shunyata. The title comes from Buddhism and translates loosely as "emptiness." But not just in the negative sense: it speaks also to impermanence, a state of constant flux.It's a great description of Reboot's music, where everything is in constant and kaleidoscopic motion. And it's also a fitting metaphor for the life of the Frankfurt-based musician, aka Frank Heinrich. In just three years, since his first EP's under the Reboot moniker appeared on Cadenza and Below, he's become one of electronic music's hottest properties, releasing not only a slew of singles for labels like Cocoon, Love Letters from Oslo, Ricardo Villalobos' Sei Es Drum and underground cult fave Motivbank, but also a pair of high-profile mix CDs for Cocoon and Cécille. His live sets and DJ sessions have taken him around the world and then some, several times, playing everywhere from mammoth festival stages to the thatched-roof booth at Ibiza's Ushuaïa. (One look at Reboot's booking schedule, and you can forget about any concept of "emptiness.") "Shunyata describes my way of life pretty well," affirms Heinrich, who just last year left his full-time day job to focus on music. Shunyata might be seen as a response to all that flux. Six years since its founding, Cadenza passes a significant milestone with catalog number 50.And who better to preside over the ceremonies than Reboot, fresh from his album Shunyata and showing no signs of slowing down. Resident Advisor recently named Reboot "one of the most celebrated live acts in all electronic music," and even if you've never seen him, "Rambon" shows plenty of evidence why. The track (which also appears on Shunyata) served as the triumphant closing passage of his BBC Essential Mix back in December, and now, finally, it's here in its full glory.
What's immediately striking about the track is that it doesn't sound like a studio concoction. It has all the spontaneity and dynamics of a storming live performance. It's crafted with a DJ in mind, with one of Reboot's perfect grooves assembling itself almost magically, with every percussive line snapping into place like magnets on metal. But for all the naturalism of the rhythm, there's a powerful sense of strangeness, a kind of ambient undertow, as sounds from the real world (the clatter of dishes, a pitched-down murmur, distant strains of radio) seep in and color the background. The track picks up steam with a succession of tightly looped vocals and subtle percussive buildups; it feels less like a composition than a DJ mix, really, the kind where the parts combine to create something far greater than their sum. And out of that emerges a melody—
not your typical four-bar riff, but a long, unspooling ribbon, a meandering river, a hypnotic lullabye. It is, in a world, spellbinding. For the B-side, Luciano remixes "Uruana," the album's undulating opening cut. Extending the six-minute sketch to 10 minutes and reinforcing its structure, Luciano's mix feels almost like an edit. Of the original song's burbling synthesizers and fluid, rolling drum patterns, he's actually changed very little. But where Reboot's track is slow to build, as though emerging from a heavy mist, Luciano's mix gets right down to business. It begins with a new melody line, one clearly inspired by the original (but at the same time so very Lucianesco), a cautious itter-pat, and foggy, Basic Channel-caliber chords; when the kick drum hits, it's on. For a little over 10 minutes, Luciano extends the vibe, chasing a feeling you can't quite put you finger on, across rippling percussion and bright arpeggios. Like a sparkling mimosa, it's perfectly suited for morning.

It is a well-known fact that tracks by Reboot have been
playing an outstanding role in last year's Cocoon Season.
After all, the 30 year old Frankfurt-based producer Frank
Heinrich already did run riot together with Johnny D., within
a sort-of live jam session on the "Disco Invaders" Cocoon
Ibiza Summer Mix CD. So, it is even more surprising that
the first Reboot 12" on Cocoon is released only now, after
releases on Below and Cadenza. With its tribalistic touch,
"Ronson" is rapidly making clear where the journey will
lead to: with alarm sirens and discharges of compressed
air, Heinrich appears uncompromisingly energetic like
never before, but stays maximally pumping and always
sexy. Somehow more observant, the polyrhythmic and
percussive "Mirasierra" gives the tired dancers a short
break, even if the dub-ornamented bass line sometimes
creates quite discoid moments of luck. By all means, those
two tracks are very suitable for what seem to be the
tropical moments within cold winter nights.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Plastikman, aka Richie Hawtin, has remastered his groundbreaking second album, Musik, from the original tapes for a new limited bio-vinyl edition.
The record was first released in November 1994 through NovaMute and Plus 8, following the debut Plastikman album, Sheet One (1993). A masterclass in minimal techno, Musik quickly propelled Hawtin to new levels of success. The release followed Plastikman's first-ever live performance in a black vinyl-encased room at a semi-derelict Packard Plant in Detroit, where Hawtin was central to the burgeoning underground scene.
Before the full album hit the shelves, the track 'Plastique' (which was later described by Q as "...the flipside to Hawtin's early singles, all ticking percussion, feline acid tweaks, and cushioned sub-bass") set the stage for a more dance floor-friendly album, albeit one with an unsettling and sinister side.
The album, described by The Guardian as "music as you've never heard it before" and by The Wire, who made it one of their Albums of the Year, as "... a masterpiece", defined a moment in techno that still echoes today.
Now, 30 years later, the album has been remastered from the original tapes, reminding us why Plastikman is a name that still resonates and that the album's intensity - on and off the dance floor - has lost none of its potency in the intervening years.

Parade Ground march back to Dark Entries with The Hidden Side, a compilation of B-sides and unreleased material. Brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly started Parade Ground in Brussels in 1981. Their Dada-laced brand of post-punk fuses propulsive drum machines and icy synths with skeletal guitar riffs and Jean-Marc’s distinct and powerful voice, pioneering the subgenre of emotional body music. The brothers met Daniel B. and Patrick Codenys of Front 242 in 1982, marking the beginning of an enduring collaborative partnership. In 2011, Dark Entries released The Golden Years, a compilation chronicling the band’s A-sides and exposing them to a new generation of EBM enthusiasts. The Hidden Side continues this mission, illuminating lesser-known facets of the band’s oeuvre. The tracks here were written between 1982 and 1989, and showcase Parade Ground’s range of styles - all cold, dark, and brooding. Tracks like “Riddle in the Stain Glass Window” and the previously unreleased “Looking Through Keyholes” see the band in menacing coldwave mode, rocking chorus-drenched bass guitar and blasts of analog synth. The band’s dancier proclivities shine elsewhere, like on “Off-Balance” or the supremely funky “Hollywood (The Sexiest Fish),” a floor-filler driven by bass guitar and thumping digital drum machine beats. Also included is “Marble Mind,” a previously unreleased latter-period track from the band recorded by Patrick Codenys at 242 Studio. The Hidden Side includes liner notes featuring lyrics and a photo of Jean-Marc and Pierre Pauly. Additionally, a newly remastered edition of The Golden Years will be released along with The Hidden Side.

Across two mammoth, critically acclaimed compilations Berlin-based Musician and DJ Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx series has shone a blacklight onto the darker side of club music. Featuring tracks from the 1970s right up to the present day made by both musical legends and up and coming talents alike, Curses has expertly threaded the needle between Experimental Pop, Post Punk, EBM, Electro, Techno and more to produce a stunning alternative history of clubland.
But, as every good digger knows, there's always more gems to uncover and so once again Curses has crowbarred open the electronic music's vaults to bring us four more long forgotten tracks, each one "Revamped" for maximum Dancefloor effect with Curses himself providing 2 edits alongside precision tooled reworks from Melbourne based Stockholm Syndrome and NYC's Andi.
First up from Curses is his Revamp of Deborah Sasson's (Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes, a curio from the wildly inventive mid late 80s that saw the American opera singer collaborate with German producers MCL (MicroChipLeague). A European chart topper on its original release, it's long since languished in obscurity but in Curses' hands is now ready to once again add more than a touch of melodrama to dancefloors.
For his second edit, Curses reworks J.W.B. Hits The Beat's House Fatale, having previously taken a razor to their Body On Body track on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX. Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elementsof Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.
Sticking with the same Westside label that gave us House Fatale, Stockholm Syndrome turns his attention to Voyou's Houseman. Or, as it happens, the 1988 edit by LA's Razormaid that first honed its edges for club play and merged the title track with its b-side. The resulting edit rejuvenates this classic slice of late Cold War club music, its pounding beat, portentous strings and the repeated overdriven vocal refrain of Germany Calling perfect for basement clubs today, in Berlin and beyond.
Finally to complete the EP we have sample-heavy 1988 cut Not Leaving Without Jerry by Belgian duo Marc Borgions & Jo Lijnen aka Philadelphia Five. Originally produced by Luc Van Acker, (better known for his work with the likes of Front 242, Ministry and Revolting Cocks), the track has been handed over to NYC producer Andi, who ups the tempo and hones in on the rhythm section, putting the focus on the staccato drums and throbbing bass line the focal point now and creating a perfect soundtrack for sweat lashed bodies.
Together these four tracks revisit a moment in clubland when the rules were still being written, as Curses explains. "This was a pivotal moment where all genres were still evolving, figuring out what sounds would eventually become staple elements of one another which gave it all this naive, innocent and punk feel. You've got Trance arpeggios, those heavy snares of early EBM, chopped vocals in the style of Chicago and NY formative House music all mixed with Electrofunk and percussive Latin freestyle grooves. A time when we were dancing without boundaries, something very much in the spirit of Next Wave Acid Punx."

Across two mammoth, critically acclaimed compilations Berlin-based Musician and DJ Curses' Next Wave Acid Punx series has shone a blacklight onto the darker side of club music. Featuring tracks from the 1970s right up to the present day made by both musical legends and up and coming talents alike, Curses has expertly threaded the needle between Experimental Pop, Post Punk, EBM, Electro, Techno and more to produce a stunning alternative history of clubland.
But, as every good digger knows, there's always more gems to uncover and so once again Curses has crowbarred open the electronic music's vaults to bring us four more long forgotten tracks, each one "Revamped" for maximum Dancefloor effect with Curses himself providing 2 edits alongside precision tooled reworks from Melbourne based Stockholm Syndrome and NYC's Andi.
First up from Curses is his Revamp of Deborah Sasson's (Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes, a curio from the wildly inventive mid late 80s that saw the American opera singer collaborate with German producers MCL (MicroChipLeague). A European chart topper on its original release, it's long since languished in obscurity but in Curses' hands is now ready to once again add more than a touch of melodrama to dancefloors.
For his second edit, Curses reworks J.W.B. Hits The Beat's House Fatale, having previously taken a razor to their Body On Body track on Next Wave Acid Punx DEUX. Originally released in 1988, House Fatale is a classic example of just how fast electronic music was evolving back then, bringing together elementsof Electro, Freestyle, House and more amongst a riot of samples, all elements Curses retains whilst nudging the tempo and giving the track a harder edge.
Sticking with the same Westside label that gave us House Fatale, Stockholm Syndrome turns his attention to Voyou's Houseman. Or, as it happens, the 1988 edit by LA's Razormaid that first honed its edges for club play and merged the title track with its b-side. The resulting edit rejuvenates this classic slice of late Cold War club music, its pounding beat, portentous strings and the repeated overdriven vocal refrain of Germany Calling perfect for basement clubs today, in Berlin and beyond.
Finally to complete the EP we have sample-heavy 1988 cut Not Leaving Without Jerry by Belgian duo Marc Borgions & Jo Lijnen aka Philadelphia Five. Originally produced by Luc Van Acker, (better known for his work with the likes of Front 242, Ministry and Revolting Cocks), the track has been handed over to NYC producer Andi, who ups the tempo and hones in on the rhythm section, putting the focus on the staccato drums and throbbing bass line the focal point now and creating a perfect soundtrack for sweat lashed bodies.
Together these four tracks revisit a moment in clubland when the rules were still being written, as Curses explains. "This was a pivotal moment where all genres were still evolving, figuring out what sounds would eventually become staple elements of one another which gave it all this naive, innocent and punk feel. You've got Trance arpeggios, those heavy snares of early EBM, chopped vocals in the style of Chicago and NY formative House music all mixed with Electrofunk and percussive Latin freestyle grooves. A time when we were dancing without boundaries, something very much in the spirit of Next Wave Acid Punx."

I wasn't planning to make music that night, but the mood and tension of that scene really resonated with me.
I knew I had to sample it and exactly what kind of vibe the track needed. I went straight to the studio, and by the early hours, the bare bones of the track were done.
Over the following weeks, I worked on developing it, but ultimately, I stripped it back to how it sounded in that first session: simple, powerful drums paired with a filthy, hypnotic bass groove.
Sometimes, less is more.
