YUNG DUMB Records returns to Argentina for YD019 with the 'Feel Alright' EP by Manuel Sahagun. The Buenos Aires house maestro offers up a 4-tracker, kicking off the EP with the title song which provides nothing short of an infectious swinging groove, with dusty vocals and percussion layered over dubby stabs. For the follow up, a classic techno-oriented homage by Montreal's Fred Everything for remix duties. The B-Side delves into stranger territory with 'Mellow', a brooding, deep and melodic house cut. Lastly, the record closes out with 'No More', a haunting ambient tune with minimal percussion for the headphones and night drives alike.

Manuel has been putting out house music since the early 2000’s and has released tunes on Berlin’s Tooman, UK’s Drop, and Detroit’s Kolour as well as remixing Warren ‘Hanna’ Harris, Robert Owens and Patrick Chardronnet. The We Play House Recordings / Legends of Gelert / Frank Music artist serves up a classy 7-track LP that spans the sub-aquatic groove of ‘Prince Of Deep’ to the spacious funk of 'What Matters’ and the wobbly electro groove of ‘Let The Others Drink The Ocean’.

Burnin Music bossman Pegasvs returns with his first new material in several years, and it's a classy collection that's been worth waiting for.

'(No) Peace' begins the journey: a languid slice of ambient / downtempo beauty with hypnotic spoken word vocals from MA.MOYO which eases you into the EP in meditative fashion.

'Take It' ushers us more towards the dancefloor with some mellow synth-funk stylings and punchy raps from The S.O.S. weaving in and out of Twyla's effortlessly yearning vocals.

'Traffic Jam' is a sumptuous patchwork of deep house motifs, where Rhodes chords, funky guitar flecks and plump bass tones interplay beautifully, and 'La Nuit' rounds off in stripped-back Detroit house style—all murky chord stabs, throbbing low end and classic drum beats.

With an already eclectic catalogue of music just a mere three releases in, London-based imprint Burnin Music Recordings looks to continue that trend.
Stepping up to the plate on the fourth release is label head, Pegasvs, who is making his production debut. Featuring alongside him on the single 'Drinking With My Eyes' is the multi-talented Xuli, a UK-based poet, singer and dancer.
Together, the two manage to create a strikingly contemporary piece of music which pulls from influences across varying areas of dance music, and is already drawing comparisons to acclaimed groups Hercules and Love Affair and Azari & III.
Enlisted on remix duties is none other than French luminary producer, Hugo LX, who delivers a deeper take on the original with shimmering cosmic leads, lush chords and a bubbly low end.

New year, new release for Burnin Music. After 2 strong EPs in 2017 (Ponty Mython BM001 and Leonidas + Kay Suzuki BM002) Burnin Music first release of 2018 features the first EP of an up-and-coming British artist called Michael Iwatsu also featuring a remix by German producer, SoulPhiction. Fracture (Original mix) is a 10 mins long journey. A beautiful odyssey between beats and harmony, between intuitive dance floor and subtle emotions. The main piano brings a perfect balance to the stomping house kick & drum. And as the journey continues, the trip develops leading to more sonic ventures. Exciting, touching, pure, Fracture (Original Mix) is a very balanced track. On the flip side, house music master Soulphiction accomplishes the task to bring the track into a dark basement. His remix is a condensed version of everything that makes the original track an emotional one and also add a Detroit twist: it becomes a raw, moody and very intuitive sonic object. Michael Gray’s ‘The Weekend’ has become more than just a seminal clubbing anthem. ‘The Weekend’ has become a soundtrack for many a night out, an evergreen, life anthem for a whole generation, a record that has stayed popular since the naughties through its sheer brilliance and been brought back to the attention to a new generation through social media like TikTok.

Now the worldwide dance hit has had new life breathed into it new live strings/dance version from Michael himself.

As Michael goes on to say in his own words:

“I have been working with live strings and horn sections a lot recently and it occurred to me to try ‘The Weekend’ as a totally different concept while keeping the integrity of the original…and it worked!

I got chills when I first heard Stephen Hussey’s (Soul to Soul) arrangement. I think it makes Shena’s lead vocal (and Xavier’s backing vocals ) sound so good!

When I made the record back in 2004 I didn’t realize how much this record would endure and appeal to younger and younger generations in its original form alone. I still get a buzz, particularly when I see DJ’s such as Claptone and Low Steppa playing it to huge crowds. Radio play has been amazing over the years too.

It makes me smile that there are thousands of TikTok videos to it as well!
