YUNG DUMB Records returns to Argentina for YD019 with the 'Feel Alright' EP by Manuel Sahagun. The Buenos Aires house maestro offers up a 4-tracker, kicking off the EP with the title song which provides nothing short of an infectious swinging groove, with dusty vocals and percussion layered over dubby stabs. For the follow up, a classic techno-oriented homage by Montreal's Fred Everything for remix duties. The B-Side delves into stranger territory with 'Mellow', a brooding, deep and melodic house cut. Lastly, the record closes out with 'No More', a haunting ambient tune with minimal percussion for the headphones and night drives alike.

Manuel has been putting out house music since the early 2000’s and has released tunes on Berlin’s Tooman, UK’s Drop, and Detroit’s Kolour as well as remixing Warren ‘Hanna’ Harris, Robert Owens and Patrick Chardronnet. He brings a freshness and eclecticism to his productions that fits in perfectly with the Freerange ethos of forward-thinking house music loaded with warmth and a touch of soul. the ‘Closest Star’ EP is a superb four-tracker that draws on diverse influences to great effect, and is one of the most original, yet floor-friendly sounding collections of music we’ve heard for a while.

Super deep issht from Cologne's Good Call on Pegasvs’ highly-reputable label Burnin Music.

The We Play House Recordings / Legends of Gelert / Frank Music artist serves up a classy 7-track LP that spans the sub-aquatic groove of ‘Prince Of Deep’ to the spacious funk of 'What Matters’ and the wobbly electro groove of ‘Let The Others Drink The Ocean’.

There is a sublime atmospheric acid on ‘Rapid Transit’, rugged Detroit synth washes and soulful, dreamy vocals on ‘The Participator’, bouncing deep house and soaring pads on ‘Memory Identity’ and, finally, a colorful synth workout on ‘Speramus Meliora’.

Burnin Music bossman Pegasvs returns with his first new material in several years, and it's a classy collection that's been worth waiting for.

'(No) Peace' begins the journey: a languid slice of ambient / downtempo beauty with hypnotic spoken word vocals from MA.MOYO which eases you into the EP in meditative fashion.

'Take It' ushers us more towards the dancefloor with some mellow synth-funk stylings and punchy raps from The S.O.S. weaving in and out of Twyla's effortlessly yearning vocals.

'Traffic Jam' is a sumptuous patchwork of deep house motifs, where Rhodes chords, funky guitar flecks and plump bass tones interplay beautifully, and 'La Nuit' rounds off in stripped-back Detroit house style—all murky chord stabs, throbbing low end and classic drum beats.

With an already eclectic catalogue of music just a mere three releases in, London-based imprint Burnin Music Recordings looks to continue that trend.
Stepping up to the plate on the fourth release is label head, Pegasvs, who is making his production debut. Featuring alongside him on the single 'Drinking With My Eyes' is the multi-talented Xuli, a UK-based poet, singer and dancer.
Together, the two manage to create a strikingly contemporary piece of music which pulls from influences across varying areas of dance music, and is already drawing comparisons to acclaimed groups Hercules and Love Affair and Azari & III.
Enlisted on remix duties is none other than French luminary producer, Hugo LX, who delivers a deeper take on the original with shimmering cosmic leads, lush chords and a bubbly low end.

New year, new release for Burnin Music. After 2 strong EPs in 2017 (Ponty Mython BM001 and Leonidas + Kay Suzuki BM002) Burnin Music first release of 2018 features the first EP of an up-and-coming British artist called Michael Iwatsu also featuring a remix by German producer, SoulPhiction. Fracture (Original mix) is a 10 mins long journey. A beautiful odyssey between beats and harmony, between intuitive dance floor and subtle emotions. The main piano brings a perfect balance to the stomping house kick & drum. And as the journey continues, the trip develops leading to more sonic ventures. Exciting, touching, pure, Fracture (Original Mix) is a very balanced track. On the flip side, house music master Soulphiction accomplishes the task to bring the track into a dark basement. His remix is a condensed version of everything that makes the original track an emotional one and also add a Detroit twist: it becomes a raw, moody and very intuitive sonic object. A tool for the dancefloor.

Belgrade-based Laars marks his first solo vinyl release over a sensual 4-track tale honouring the merits of faith, discipline, and the satisfaction of taking your sweet time. Drawing from the vibrant sounds of the 90s and 00s progressive trance and house scenes, he discovered a kindredship with those who have since then primed and perfected their own modern takes on the definitive genres.

The proggy trance/house opener “Breath Control” sighs into existence, emerging like the head-rush of euphoria that accompanies surfing the sadistic tease between suspense and bliss. High resonance and acid sounds punctuate the track, supplying a dominant bodily cue amidst the melodies, gated vocals and loops. “What If You Fly” observes the void below and decides to jump anyway, finding its faith rewarded in a free-fall through chords and synths that knit into a dark, groovy soundscape - soaring over an underscore of conga drums as though caught in exhilarating flight.

On the B-side, “Concur” looks up from the void back into the ether, embracing the danger of the pale blank space above. At 135BPM it glitches and dances through a cyclone of atmospheric synths, pads and cult sci-fi film samples, grinding like a serrated blade under a soft-focus lens. For the close, “Delight” flirts with the comfort of another, tantalising its approach before erupting in slow-motion from its amniotic state. It blisters, bubbles and gasps - and then takes a roll-eyed descent into breakbeats and arps that glide like menacingly slow fingertips over hot skin.

The record from Laars has a precious message: when was the last time that you really let go and listened to the steady rise and fall of your own breath, or sank into the discomfort of not knowing, but continued anyway? The outcome is still the same: jump.

Remastered reissue of the second landmark EP for Plus 8 Records by Speedy J. Again expanding on the emerging sounds of Techno Speedy J took it further into euphoric, minimal lofi and bleepy territory with ''Rise'', ''Tresor'' and ''De-orbit''. All while effectively stripping it down to the bare bones rocking only a 909 and a vocal sample on ''Something For Your Mind''. This release and in particular ''Something For Your Mind'' was there at the forefront of techno as we know it these days with a harder, raw and no-nonsense approach and all its variations such as Gabber that grew out of that in Rotterdam the following year.
